how are you all doing?im knackered, woke up again with contractions during teh night.

alice,im definately going to have a cs this time.consultant has said she'll sterilise me at teh same time,so that sort of swayed me!!!is the belt helping you at all?mine just digs in and isnt making the spd any easier.hoep you get some relief from it though.

anyway,just wanted to say hi!!

ft,hope your ok after that scare!!you'd have thought the mw would check the thing after shes used it!!xxx

Hi all [waving frantically emoticon]

Sorry I haven't been in touch for a while - to be honest, the conversation moves at such a pace on here I can't hope to keep up at work (without getting fired...). I've been posting occassionally on the general pregnancy board, where individual threads tnd to run a little slower and it's easier to follow what's going on...

Hope you're all doing OK - doesn't look like we've had any babies here yet?! (Although please fill me in if I'm wrong...) Which is good - although if you're all anything like me you're willing the last few weeks to go fast... I'm absolutley knackered, getting very little sleep and quite uncomfortable now... I know I've really had a dream of a pregnancy when I read what some of you have been through, but even at it's best it's hardly a walk in the park is it!?

Work has been mad, which hasn't helped, but thankfully I'll be on maternity leave from the end of next week... so I'll hopefully be able to keep up with you all a bit better!

We've also had workmen in the house for the last 6 weeks or so, and I've spent every weekend decorating and shifting furniture ? which probably hasn't helped the general knackered-ness! The last one left on Tuesday, but I've still got acres of painting to do ...

This may be nesting gone mad...

Had first antenatal class on Tuesday - which was great - a lovely bunch of people, although I did find the advice about when to go to hospital (basically when you're in so much pain you can't talk ) a bit of an eye opener.

Found all your birth plans very interesting reading - I've yet to make mine and hoping the classes will give me some more idea what to put down...

Otherwise all is well in the designer household (which looks more like untidy bastards household at the moment - total chaos) bubs seems to be growing fine, although I feel the size of a house, but maybe that's more to do with me being a shortarse than that we're having a ginormous baby...

Really hope you are all well and bumps are all growing nicely

I'll try and keep popping in (I'm almost at the point of not caring about work any more anyway) and find out how you're all doing... at leats a bit more regularly than I have been...

Lots of love and big hugs to all...

DB

Buffy - sorry to hear that you've had another crap night. No fun this not sleeping is it? I have found the support belt helps when I'm standing / walking but its very uncomfortable and digs in when sitting. SO fine at home when I can put it on and off easily over top of my clothes. Too vain though to have on over clothes when I go out!!! SO think will stick to wearing it when I know I'm just out for a wlk or something...

DB - glad to hear all well with you despite the general pregnancy crap that is just draining!

MrsFish · 06/09/2007 15:20

Good afternoon all. Well I saw the mw this morning, and... lo had moved and she now thinks he is head down, with back and bum on my right hand side, and legs stretching right over the top of my bump to the left hand side so no cs talk at the moment. She has said that he seems like a right fidgit so he may turn again, but for the moment all is well and I am to see her in two weeks time. Phew, at least I know now... I was looking forward to having another scan though Also my iron levels are back up to 11.4 from 9.4 so that's good too
Went into town to do a bit of shopping after and have just got back, am now going to relax till 5.30 when I go and pick up ds, I hope he has had a good full day seeing as he is only used to half days

monalisasmile · 06/09/2007 15:35

Hi All,

Hope everyone is doing OK, sorry I cant address everyone personally, but good to hear you doing better Mrs F, you sound in good spirits.

Just another quick post from me. Is anyone else having a problem posting on this thread? I was wondering why I was being 'side-stepped' and just realised that my posts havent actually been attached onto here. I seems to happen when I copy it from word. Must be something im doing wrong.

Hope that the dcs are settling in to their new schools. My dp goes to nursery-school full time at the moment but will start reception next Sept and I get a lump in my throat even thinking about it!

Thanks to thise who posted their birth plans, they've been really useful. I know what I think I want and dont want, but havent got round to putting it in writing. Got appointment with the mw on Monday and she wants to see and discuss it, so that was good timing for me.

Im on Annual Leave and mat leave officially starts on 1/10/07, but I just cant seem to get anything done - sleep prevails. My target is to get my hosp bags ready this week - bet that doesnt happen.

Bye for now to all. x 36+2

PS. Would it be an idea to have another 'roll call' - I've so lost track of who's actually on this thread as there are quite few leavers, newbies and returners. Any offers?

alicet · 06/09/2007 15:41

MrsFish - great news that lo has moved! nice one!

Monalisa - I haven't had any problem cutting and pasting in from word... Are you sure baby brain doesn't mean you're doing something silly? Not trying to be rude - just am thinking of all the particularly dense things I have done in the last couple of weeks!!!!

lisad123 · 06/09/2007 15:59

Monalisa, are you sure your not clicking on preview message instead of post, i do that sometime

Hi Alice T, no offence taken. To be honest, im usually doing silly things - its the pregabrain thats keeping me in check right now!

Do you mind if I ask if you can offer any advice about the excruciating pains ive been getting lately? Its in my hips rather than my groin and at its worst can be as low down as my lower calf. It prevents me from walking if I try and get up and is worst at night. GP and MW say its just being pg, but im not convinced. Also, if i turn over in bed I get a massive cramping pain that last a couple of secs. Been sleeping with a cushion between my knees and turning over in bed with both knees together, which has hepled, but I experience a lot of discomfort most of the time. Lying down is the most uncomfortable position for me, though I feel back strain if I stand for too long.

Sorry in advance to ask for a 'virtual diagnosis'; my sis is a paediatrician and is frequently reminding me that she's not NHS direct. I asked her about this but she wriggled out of it cos its not her field. Do tell me to 'bog off' if you like, im thick skinned and wont take (much) offence. TIA. x

monalisasmile · 06/09/2007 16:03

Hi Lisa, (im in Borehamwood by the way) I have been known to do that, but although I couldnt swear on it, I dont think that's it. I guess I should have checked back to see if was acually attachd to the thread before busily writing other posts for other threads!

How did your little one get on at school today?

lisad123 · 06/09/2007 16:19

Hi Mona, my hubby works in borehamwood, not far from us at all
Tanisha seemed to get on fine at school although when i asked what she did, wjho she sat with ect her answer was "dont know"

monalisasmile · 06/09/2007 16:27

Hi again Lisa, what a coincidence about your DH. Every time I ask my dd what she did at nursery-school, she says "watch telly and play with lego" and for lunch its always "pasta and chicken"; makes me wonder why I pay £600 a month to do what she can do for free at home! Its actually a really good place, but i'd still feel like i was getting a bit more money's worth if her answers were more varied!

I hope Tanisha is looking forward to going back tomorrow. If she isnt, at least it'll be the weekend soon and she'll get some respite.

alicet · 06/09/2007 16:28

Lisa I most certainly DON'T think you're a dumbf*ck!!! And you weren't appearing as one either - making well reasoned arguments and not losing your rag at all the people who were being nothing more than insulting!

Mona - don't know much about that as a doc but was at physio yesterday for a similar type thing. Ds has just woken so no time to go through what she said now but will come back later if it would be helpful with what I was told to do....

lisad123 · 06/09/2007 16:37

alicet can i ask what kind of doc you are? GP? specialist ect? Just being nosey.

alicet · 06/09/2007 17:14

I'm a general surgical registrar. I want to specialise in breast cancer surgery in the end but at this stage in my training need to do a bit of everything. More than happy for you to be nosy!!

jersey · 06/09/2007 17:34

Hi, back again. DS1 went for first introduction morning at preschool today. Seemed to enjoy it and wasn't bothered if I was there or not which is good news for 2 weeks time when he stays on his own 5 mornings a week.

Put a thread on here today as not sure if I am leaking or weeing etc. as always wet at moment and keep feeling as though I am wetting myself. Slight pink tinge a couple of times as well. Sorry if TMI.

Hope everyone is ok. DS2 wants out of high chair so must go.

lisad123 · 06/09/2007 17:43

My midwife told me the ways to know whats wee and whats water is a few things.

  1. a normal sani pad wont be enough to soak up.
  2. will be clear and smell like bleach
  3. there is no way of holding it in no matter how hard you squeeze!!

If its pink i wouold defo go and get checked out just in case
lisa

lisad123 · 06/09/2007 17:44

alicet so you wont be telling us all to go and have C sections then, you know too much

I have to say im shocked about how rude some people can be.

lisad123 · 06/09/2007 17:52

Alicet, just read your other post, have added comment

jersey · 06/09/2007 19:03

Hi lisa, does amonia count although at moment it seems to have lost the pink tinge.

alicet · 06/09/2007 20:27

Hope all OK for you jersey! Good to see you again...

Will go read your comments on my other post lisa! Funnily enough I was very anti sections before I had mine! Certainly not a believer in unnecessary surgery. but in some cases it is a good thing and certainly wouldn't knock anyones reasons for what they wanted. Can't believe how rude people were on that other thread - very impressed at how you managed to keep your cool. they were doing themselves a disservice by behaving like that though. The message they were trying to get accross wasn't that unreasonable I didn't think but they were just making themselves look like arses by how unreasonable and rude they were about making it.

muppetgirl · 06/09/2007 20:38

Hi all
Have been so tired over the last couple of days and trying to make the most of dh being off.
Ollie started nursery school today and looked so gorgeous in his uniform. He went in absolutey fine and announced he wanted to play with the farm.....no problems there then!

I am so uncomfortable my waist is now 43 1/2 inches which isn't bad for a girl who's normally size 8-10 (around the waist....)

Am officially 31 + 4 and have grown out of my maternity bottoms but don't want to buy anymore. I have my 32 week growth scan next Mon so will see if lo is still big. He's low and that is very uncomfortable and what with the irritable uterus and b/h my tummy seems to be active most of the time!!

Sorry it's a me me me post. I have been feeling a little anxious about the birth due to last time but are reading a fab book called 'Blooming Birth' which seems to be factual rather than sensational and is backed up with psychological evidence as well as medical evidence. Am goign to attempt a birth plan (and are going to ask dh to write one from his point of view just to see what he thinks as he was there last time)

muppetgirl · 06/09/2007 20:39

obtw when my waters broke it smelt like sperm....

sorry if tmi

lisad123 · 06/09/2007 20:53

Jersery i think as long as it doesnt smell like urine, it could be.

Alicet, Im a calm person most of the time, and they are showing how small minded and rude they can be. I try to nice to everyone, its how i was brought up, to be respectful and not rude.

Muppet: what size are you? if you dont mind me asking. I have some trousers here, that are too long as im a short arse, so no good for me

Im 36 weeks tomorrow my dd was born at 37, so hoping this LO arrives at about the same time, doesnt seem so far away.

I sent Darren out for ben and jerry's ice cream, its so hot and i fancy some
