LES sorry to hear you've been into hospital too - there seem to be a few people who have been keeping their local maternity ward busy - and refusing to stay in too!!!

Chochobnob - sorry to hear that you're starting to feel sick and tired too - sounded like you were going to get away without it. Will reply to your email probably tomorrow - been busy sorting stuff!

Big hugs to the rest of you x

hi all

can't sleep, think its a mixture of hunger(couldn't face any tea) worried abut dd's first day at new school, and my head seems to be buzzing, feel like i should be painting and cleaning but trying to resist the urge! on thr plus side, my stomach cramps have gone!

hope your all in the land of nod

g'mornin' all

J20 hope you managed to get some sleep...and glad the cramps have gone ... don't worry about dds first day at new school she'll probably love it and come home telling you all bout how fab her new teacher is and what new friends she has made (its 6 months down the line when they start falling out that is the problem ...can you tell I've been looking after my cousins daughters recently?!)Hope you both have a good day... and keep away from the paintbrushes!

Everyone seems to having vivid and interesting dreams but me ...I get vivid ones, just they are very wierd and boring; last nights was picking vine weevil grubs out of the roots of a fig tree and finding more of the yucky things in the pocket of my Dads dressing gown (which I was wearing for gardening for some reason)??? Where has that come from??? and just what is it supposed to mean??? What is worse, I woke 3 times for the loo or gaviscon and each time thought "ooh what a yucky dream at least the next one should be better" but the same one came back again and again! I do sometimes wonder about my sanity . On the plus side I only woke 3 times!Wahoo! Which considering LO was still kung foo fighting every time I woke(he/she barely stopped ALL day yesterday!)is a miracle. I know we are supposed to worry about reduced movements but is there a reason to be concerned about increased ones? (Apart from it being an indicator that LO won't sleep at all once it is here? [worried emoticon])

Hope everyone has a good day and that the LOs who are seriously threatening to come early stay put for a little longer.

FloriaTosca · 04/09/2007 08:16

A friend just sent me this; hope it gives you all a laugh to start the day;

Due to a power outage, only one paramedic responded to the call. The house was very dark so the paramedic asked Kathleen, a 3-yr old girl to hold a flashlight high over her mommy so he could see while he helped deliver the baby.
Very diligently, Kathleen did as she was asked. Heidi pushed and pushed and after a little while, Connor was born.
The paramedic lifted him by his little feet and spanked him on his bottom. Connor began to cry. The paramedic then thanked Kathleen for her help and asked the wide-eyed 3-yr old what she thought about what she had just witnessed.
Kathleen quickly responded, "He shouldn't have crawled in there in the first place......smack him again!"

Morning all!

After my walk to the station last night, I started having mild contractions on the train, every 10 minutes or so! It made me think how absolutely shattered I am at the minute and how the idea of going through labour without getting lots of rest and sleep in beforehand would be awful! So I agree with EJT that those who are being told to rest really should as labour really is bluddi hard work, iirc...

Colly - I agree that longhaul travel with a very young baby is likely to be reasonably easy. I would try to bf or have a dummy for it to suck when taking off/landing as I believe they can have difficulties equalising as their eustachian tubes are so small. I would also consider getting some sedative from the doctors - one of my colleagues did this when he flew to Oz with his young baby - or take some medised with you in case of need. Hopefully, you wouldn't need to use it, but it's better to have it just in case, if you ask me.

J2O - you sound like you're nesting even more than ever, if that's possible! You might be one of the early ones too!!

Hello to everyone else. No time nor energy to post properly at the moment, I'm afraid. I have the day off on Thursday and am SO looking forward to sleeping a bit!

ejt1764 · 04/09/2007 09:37

love the joke Floria ...

Well, mission accomplished, Rhydian is now officially a school child - he started in Dosbarth Derbyn this morning. We found his peg, he put his lunch bag and jumper on it, then he dashed off to play with his friends ... and had to be called back by the teacher to give me a kiss and say bye bye! Really pleased that it went well ...

Was supposed to be painting ds's door this morning, but dh "forgot" to set it all up for me, so has told me to put my feet up ... well, if he insists ...

Have a good day all - j20 and everybody else whose dcs are starting school today, hope it went as easily as mine did!

Now just hoping for as smooth an afternoon ...

Heres a joke a friend sent me this morning.

One day, when a seamstress was sewing while sitting close to a

river, her thimble fell into the river. When she cried out, the
Lord appeared and asked, "My dear child, why are you crying?"
The seamstress replied that her thimble had fallen into the water
and that she needed it to help her husband in making a living for
their family.
The Lord dipped His hand into the water and pulled up a golden
thimble set with pearls.
"Is this your thimble?" the Lord asked
The seamstress replied, "No."
The Lord again dipped into the river. He held out a silver
thimble ringed with sapphires.
"Is this your thimble?" the Lord asked.
Again, the seamstress replied, "No."
The Lord reached down again and came up with a leather thimble. "Is
this your thimble?" the Lord asked.
The seamstress replied, "Yes."
The Lord was pleased with the woman's honesty and gave her all
three thimbles to keep, and the seamstress went home happy.
Some years later, the seamstress was walking with her husband along
the riverbank, and her husband fell into the river and disappeared
under the water.
When she cried out, the Lord again appeared and asked her, "Why are
you crying?" "Oh Lord, my husband has fallen into the river!"
The Lord went down into the water and came up with George Clooney.
"Is this your husband?" the Lord asked.
"Yes," cried the seamstress.
The Lord was furious. "You lied! That is an untruth!"
The seamstress replied, "Oh, forgive me, my Lord. It is a
misunderstanding. You see, if I had said 'no' to George Clooney,
you would have come up with Brad Pitt. Then if I said 'no' to him,
you would have come up with my husband. Had I then said 'yes,' you
would have given me all three. Lord, I'm not in the best of health
and would not be able to take care of all three husbands, so THAT'S
why I said 'yes' to George Clooney.
And so the Lord let her keep him.
The moral of this story is: Whenever a woman lies, it's for a good
and honourable reason, and in the best interest of others. That's
our story, and we're sticking to it.

Good morning all.

Floria Great joke
Ejt - Glad your sons first day at school has started well, you can relax now
J20 read your other thread too, glad you are feeling much better today I have had a good week actually, feel quite well, happy and bubbly, which makes a nice change.
Mumpbump Make sure you relax all day thursday

Well I have only just got up (9.20) and ds is still asleep... blimey... mind you I was up with him from 1am -2.30am, I think he must have had a bad dream, because he wouldn't go back to sleep and every time I left the room he started crying again, very unusual, he usually sleeps all the way through. I had a better nights sleep though, I even managed almost 4 hours without waking up

The weather is lovely here today, not sure what the days plans are going to be yet though.

MrsFish · 04/09/2007 09:45

Hahaha - love that joke Lisa

lisad123 · 04/09/2007 09:47

Hmmm didnt sleep well, I lost count after waking 5 times
Its Tanisha's last day at home with me before she starts school!! We are gonna make cakes later and maybe play with goo

I have already stripped the beds, put on a load of washing, tidied my room again, cleaned bathtroom and written Tanisha's names in her uniform didnt do nesting last time, wonder if its that.
I promise I'll take it as easy as i can, but Darren never does the housework the way i do, and everything has to asked. He never see's that it needs doing, i get fed up of asking.

MW is coming this afternoon to check BP has come down, hope so otherwise I might have to go in nooooo

I think all of you that have done or are doing long flights are brave, although tani was fine on a 4 hour flight at 20months one.
Hope your all well

Lisa

j20baby · 04/09/2007 10:41

Lisa-if you want your bp to not be high then SIT DOWN!!! honestly some people! great joke btw and yours FT

hi to mump, mrsfish and everyone else i've missed

i ended up doing some more painting, it beckoned to me, run out of paint now though.

dd was ok going to her new school, a bit shy but that'll last for all of 5 seconds!

forgot to claim for free school dinners, so its going to cost me £1.10 a day until i sort it out, been trying to find my proof for over an hour, ended up ringing benefits to get a covering letter, so will go buy some packing up stuff i think, also found out i'm not entitled to keep any of my maternity pay-whats the point in me bloody working!!

right i'm off to get some shopping done and then will probably have a reast this afty

inzi- about the snoring, i've seen a watch type thing at lloyds chemist for £10 thats meant to do something to stop snoring, don't know if that'd be any good, maybe worth a try?

because i work under 16 hours, i still have to claim income support, even though its not much, and the benefits agency work it out so that i get to keep £20 more than i would if i just claimed IS and didn't work, but when i rng them earlier, they said you don't get to keep the £20 allowance on maternity pay, don't know why. looks like my place of work may be closing down, so may not bother going bck anyway, waste of time havin to work 8 hours for a measly £20 when it'll probably cost more than that in petrol and childcare.

whoops-i've just eaten nearly all the pasta salad thats meant to be for tea, only meant to have a few mouthfuls

hope your BP's ok lisa

Just called our local IKEA as we can't find the fixings for the changning table top. Only problem is that the item has now been discontinued.

When I explained to the person on the phone that we still had the wood, but were missing the fixings, she said that they were still available and she is sending them out to me FREE OF CHARGE.

I hope everyone is doing well today.

DD has started into her year 1 class today and her teacher from last year was there to see them all into the cass as well.

dal21 · 04/09/2007 14:47

Hi everyone - just picked up an email from Muppetgirl since I have been awol awhile.

Sorry I havent been on this thread awhile - tons been happening. My EDD was 28th sept - hence being on this thread aswell as sept. Long story short - baby is breech, a little small and has occasions of reduced fetal movements - so a csection has been booked for this Friday, they want me to get to 37 weeks.
Am nervous, excited, scared...every emotion under the sun right now!

I have not read anyone elses posts - I do hope that everyone is doing ok.

LES/ Muppet - I have your numbers in my phone, so will text when I have some news.

Hugs to everyone!

lisad123 · 04/09/2007 15:02

Hello

Well I stopped cleaning and went to have a bath thinking i could finish clearing up once i was dressed. Just got in bath and relaxing and MW knocks the door. She wasnt due till this afternoon but she hadnt written time next to my name so couldnt rememeber . Answered door in towel, dripping wet Threw some clothes on, DD still in pjs. BP is fine but MW thinks LO isnt far off coming, oh well. She also measured me and still behide dates, but she thinks, and i agree she isnt gonna be a huge baby anyway.
Im defo nesting i have had every kitchin cupboard out, sorted and cleaned. I was only looking for my brest pump, still havent found it. Im pretty sure i didnt throw it out, doubt very much I would have sold/recycled it as its unhygienic, hmmm where oh where has my little pump gone, oh where oh where can it be... lalala. LOL

Dal21 all the best for friday, im sure you'll do great.

Winnie which store was it? I need a new part as the thingy that the wardrobe bar sits on, snapped grrrr. Can i be cheeky and ask for number too

Sorry things are such a pain for you J20, I hate the beniefits system, can never seem to get it right, soo many families i work with get into trouble when they get mucked up

Inzi im sure LO will be fine, those scans are never right in my opinion. I heard big bubs are easier to push outanyway.

hugs to allt hat need them today

Mumpbump · 04/09/2007 15:05

Dal21 - best of luck for Friday. I'm sure everything will be fine and you will be the first person on this thread - chances are - to see their lo in person!

dal21 · 04/09/2007 15:16

Thanks Lisa and Mump! Although I cannot officially count towards the oct count since I was always due in sept!!
I was simply hedging my bets since I figured I could get to 42 weeks easily!

Word of warning ladies, these LO's are unpredictable! Have your bags packed. Quite a few of us in sept are quite seriously queue jumping! LOL!

MrsFish · 04/09/2007 16:58

Has anyone made it to their due date on the Sept thread yet, it doeesn't seem like it God Luck for fridal Dal

unicorn · 04/09/2007 17:12

ooh good luck Dal21,and Lisa and everyone else who is imminent!
Kids back at school today and I got lots of -'blimey you're big' comments. Well I guess I have grown somewhat over summer... but didn't think I was that huge!

This one does feel heavier than I remember my last 2, and the movements are really big not frenetic jabby ones like I had during my other pregnancies.
I have one more scan booked for 36 weeks, and then m/w has booked me in on due date, but reckoned she wouldn't be seeing me then...

Not long now everyone.
Rest whilst you/we can!

ejt1764 · 04/09/2007 17:48

J20 ? that sucks about your maternity pay

Dal21 ? wow ? that?s really soon! Good luck for Friday ? I?ll look out for your news!

Lisad ? perhaps you?ll pop first! Take it easy ? I don?t know where my breast pump is either ? but I figure I won?t need it straight away!

Unicorn ? this lo definitely feels less jumpy than ds did too ? although I had a serious caffeine habit when pg with ds (only thing I could keep down in terms of drinks was diet coke ? couldn?t get the caffeine-free stuff so easily then!) ?so I think the fact that I?m not drinking caffeine regularly has something to do with it!!

Hi to everybody else!!

DS?s first day at school went really well ? we were early back from the consultant appointment, so decided to collect him ourselves, and we went to the cliff-top for ice-cream ? he?s had a really good day, but is very tired ? an early night for him tonight, I think!

Well, my consultant appointment was a complete waste of time: I went in there all fired up, only to find out that the consultant himself wasn?t there due to a bereavement: nobody has written into the hospital?s notes that anybody has contacted them about me delivering in the MLU, so I?ve got to go back next week to see the man himself ? but I have to phone on the Tuesday morning to check that he?s back from compassionate leave ? think I may have to get on the phone to the consultant midwife clinic and demand to know why nobody has been in touch with the consultant or his minions ? am a bit actually ? not because the cons. Has had a bereavement ? but because of the lack of communication between the different teams. I?m at the hospital tomorrow for hydro and an appointment at the pain clinic, so I may see if I can pop in to see the midwife who?s supposed to be dealing with my case.

I have a horrible feeling that although my edd is 2nd October, I may be waiting around for a while ?

j20baby · 04/09/2007 18:51

WOW Dal thats soon, how you feeling? nervous? glad?

ejt-how annoying for you! maybe now would be a good time to get a different consultant to make sure you get what you want?

lisa-glad BP was ok

hi winnie and mrsfish and everyone else

anyone heard from muppetgirl, she's not been on for a few days.

i'm a bit annoyed, my friend has given me a moses basket and mattress but he had no valance or bedding so i posted a wanted on freecycle, but the admin, thinking they knew best, changed it to ask for an actual moses basket, so i've already had one lady offer me just the basket had to reply and explain what had happened.
also, i went to Asda today, was dying for the loo, so i parked in the mother and baby space, ok, i didn't have a child, but i was desperate, then a bloke pulled up in a 4x4 and shouted 'where's your child!?!' i nearly wet myself! saw him later on, in the shop, with 3 children, all over about 8, walking perfectly fine, was more annoyed that he'd shouted at me,in my delicate condition surely he was just as bad as me, parking in the M&B space?
anyway rant over, better sort dd out for bed.

hope everyone not mentioned has had a nice day

Thnaks inzi-wasn't sure if i was in the wrong or not, i wouldn't mind, but he did get a M&B space anyway a bit further up, and he wasn't doing a weekly shop like i was, with a full trolley, he was buying stationery for the kids to go back to school, didn't even have a basket. i did check my car hadn't been deliberatly scratched though!

thats another thing-my poor car has been in te wars after trying to tow my mum yesterday, and a bloke put it on wrong trying to help us, but the rope split all my bumper about 4 inches along and has totally fu*ked it, sme tw&t has opened their blue car door onto my silver paint work the other day, and then, coming home from Asda, it was 10mph as the road had been regritted, and another car was going too fast on the opposite side, and a bit jumped up and chipped my windscreen

can you tell i'm overprotective of my car

going to try and get a not too late night tonight after my 5 AM wake up!
