Congratulations Horehound, Arthur is scrummy! I'm so sorry that you've had such a long exhausting labour,- make sure you talk about it lots and get a debrief if you can, don't bottle it up.

DustyDoorframes · 21/08/2019 18:20

@Horehound 72!!! That's folk song length of labour! "Queen Jane was in labour for three days or more..."
@BridgetJonesDaiquiri I've never brought a towel, I don't think? I accidentally stole a pillow case last time though. Eeep that you are booked in now!!! And v glad all looking good so far, phew.
@kyles101 you'd think re the fibre, wouldn't you! I'm not sure? I think fat and protein possibly help more.
I've got my 2.5h lecture on it all tomorrow anyway...
@Megan2018 woot to having a date!!! Super real!!!

Stroan · 21/08/2019 19:01

@BridgetJonesDaiquiri they brought me towels, I'd packed my own just in case but I'd assume they have them

easterbuns1 · 21/08/2019 19:03

@BridgetJonesDaiquiri I've packet one purely because nhs ones are tiny (and I'm tall) and not very soft.

April88 · 21/08/2019 19:19

@BridgetJonesDaiquiri definitely take your own towel, the ones in the hospital I was in were pretty much hand towel size!

IVEgottheDECAF · 21/08/2019 19:20

I've never been offered towels in hospital always taken my own.

I am really hopeful i can get showered and changed before i get hooked up to this drip

DustyDoorframes · 21/08/2019 19:26

Doubt it decaf - they are not going to be keen on risking you haemorrhaging in the shower!

DustyDoorframes · 21/08/2019 19:28

(Easy for me to say, once I've given birth all I want to do is hold the baby forevermore- last time the MW had to gently suggest I might want to put some clothes on before transferring in to hospital (not an emergency, I was just supposed to be there rather than home..)

IVEgottheDECAF · 21/08/2019 19:32

Tbh i did i ask one mw. She was an older lady who seemed frustrated with me having been told i even need a drip etc. Her attitude was very much "you can do as you please they cant make you do anything" she gave me a leaflet on my rights or something ....

I am happy to have the drip. Staying alive is good. But i dont wanna sit all yuck for four hours! Even if i just get 2 mins with a pack of bloody wet wipes n some clean pjs

boodles101 · 21/08/2019 20:09

bridgetjonesdaquiri definitely take a towel. I would have been waiting all day today for a shower if I didn't have my own!

We are home! I had a proper freak out on the way home and a bit of a panic attack but glad we are back and settled.

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 21/08/2019 20:12

Thanks all! Will shove one in the bag just in case of no or only teeny towels.

Yay for being home @boodles101 and settling back into family life!

Woohoo for induction date @Megan2018. Means she may well come on your preferred date of 13/09!

Hsunshine · 21/08/2019 20:55

@Megan2018 I am glad to see you opted for induction on due date. I got offered the same today and she said it was up to me or I could wait for natural. I decided to go for induction because I thought that was best for me and baby but some people are so judgemental

challengeyourreality · 21/08/2019 21:12

@Horehound what lovely news, another new baby. Very cute photo

BBell2 · 21/08/2019 21:49

@horehound you superstar! Congratulations on being a mummy to such a lovely little boy.

@boodles I'm pleased you are home, take it as easy as you can, I'm sorry you panicked on the way home, I can imagine a million reasons why but you've got this!

TMI but I'm suffering thrush and discharge. Cant pack my post baby pants because the are the cotton ones I'm most comfy in, but I go through so many, washing all the time! I think the heavy liner use has contributed.

DustyDoorframes · 21/08/2019 23:10

Yay to being home @boodles101 !! And a wee panic seems fair enough- it's a big change! But you will all ace it and get settled in no time (and of course it's fine if you are not settled for yonks too- you get a free pass for as long as you want one)
@BBell2 have you tried washable liners? They work for me (I've been getting wee leaks since the start Blush) and I find them comfier than the disposable ones. The cheeky mamas ones are absorbent enough to cope with a fair bit, and cotton so feel quite breathable.

KnobJockey · 22/08/2019 07:58

Has anybody else got a leg that's just pretty much out of use, or heard of it? I've got PGP anyway, and the midwife thinks the baby may be positioned on my sciatic nerve, as I have been suffering with my right leg when I first stand or walk- it feels like when you're a kid and somebody pummels it to dead it! But for the past couple of days it's got worse, and now when I'm sitting I'm struggling to lift it, so I can't cross my right leg, and getting into bed is quite hard and causing a few tears.

Contractions last night, got to about 15 mins apart and lasted a good few hours.

IVEgottheDECAF · 22/08/2019 08:03

Me knobjockey i get it with both legs but left is worse. To put my shoes on i have to lift my lower leg using my hands and rest it on the opposite knee

Moraxella · 22/08/2019 08:50

@stroan yep that’s me 💉 best job in the world (10% of the time!)

I have a patch on my front left thigh at the top about 20cmx20cm that’s completely numb and yet feels like it is constantly on fire. It’s getting me down but hopefully will resolve after but expect it to take a few months 😩

kyles101 · 22/08/2019 08:53

@Hsunshine who on earth is judgy about an induction? You need to give em a slap if you come across any.

Off to the spa all day today - how many babies will be here by the time I'm finished??

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 22/08/2019 08:59

Horrendous nights sleep last night. Too hot, too damn itchy, couldn't get comfy in any position and my mind was whirring (possibly now I've got my induction date booked in and know I only have a week or so left to prepare!). Tried to nap again once DH had left with DD for nursery, but no can do, just can't switch off.

Anyone else dreading the return of hot weather this weekend? My app says Fri-Tues will be 28/29 each day (south east). I'm usually an absolute sun worshiper but just can't handle it at the mo. Here's hoping it'll be cold and rainy by next weekends induction date 😆

Am child-free today so have just booked to take myself to the cinema this afternoon. Popcorn and Lion King will hopefully distract me for a couple of hours!

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 22/08/2019 09:05

@Hsunshine I'll have had 2 for 2 inductions. Yes I'd love to go into labour naturally at home but my body just isn't up for that it seems. I beat myself up badly about it last time (wasn't expecting to be induced and it was sprung on me on the day!) but I'm more accepting this time round. There is no right way to birth a baby, so tell anybody who thinks otherwise to kindly go F themselves.

IVEgottheDECAF · 22/08/2019 09:09

Honestly all that matters with child birth is healthy safe mum and baby. Anyone who thinks different is nuts

IVEgottheDECAF · 22/08/2019 09:10

Oh and i have reached the 38 week milestone!

Who is left who is due before me?

NotwhereIshouldbe · 22/08/2019 09:21

@IVEgottheDECAF 38+2 here! Although someone on my antenatal class was due two days before me and she had her baby on Monday! 😱

@KnobJockey My lower back has been causing me grief to the point my legs are no longer working. I get up from my birthing ball and my leg usually gives way! It happened to me trying to go to the loo and I practically fell over! I suspect PGP and have been seeing an osteopath but I’m looking forward to going back to normal once baby arrives!

IVEgottheDECAF · 22/08/2019 09:24

notwhereishouldbe my leg often buckles if i have been sat / lay down for too long, going to the loo in the night is a nightmare!
