How much movement is everyone getting at the moment? I'm 26+1 today. I'm sure some days I feel the baby move loads and then other days it seems like I don't feel baby at all. I know he/she is still pretty small but trying not to get too paranoid about it all!

I have another scan tomorrow so will be nice to hopefully get reassured all is ok in there!

Ginny1234 · 11/11/2019 10:29

Hi @LolaLollypop, I think I'm the same as you but it's possibly because I'm not sure I'm fully paying attention all every day. I think now it's becoming more important to feel the movements, I need to try and set time aside a few times a day to really concentrate and record kicks on a kick counter because I think I'm just take it for granted and not fully paying attention until I notice it's not happening!

lovesT · 11/11/2019 12:54

I've been getting lots of kicks every day but I do find that if I am at work all day (I sometimes do half days) then I will notice them much less because I'm not focusing on them as much. But I usually feel quite a lot in the morning too. I've just been reading in baby centre and different kicks and what to do if you're worried (on the app) but that's good you have a scan tomorrow so you can be reassured 😊

45andfine · 11/11/2019 14:32

I'm 27+5(?! Losing track) and def feeling baby move every day now. Whereas a couple of weeks ago it would be every other day and usually when I went to bed!

45andfine · 11/11/2019 14:36

I've just got back from my 28 week check and have seen 5 different midwives. Is this the norm these days?

I wouldn't mind, but each one tells me different things, I just don't know who to believe!

The last midwife insisted I need diabetes test, and booked it, but that got cancelled the evening before because age and previous large babies AREN'T a risk factor.

Now I've just been told I'm having extra scans to check the baby isn't getting too big because of diabetes and previous big babies. 🤷‍♀️

Rant over.... 😂

45andfine · 11/11/2019 14:37

... not five different midwives today, just over the past 6 months!!🙄

doublebarrellednurse · 11/11/2019 18:29

Urgh frustrating @45andfine ! I am under consultant and senior midwife and just see them but I can imagine it's frustrating! I'm just seeing the community MW very infrequently which wigged me out, sure I saw her more first time round (13 years ago).

Am so exhausted today. First day back at work after a day off. Spent the day pissed off lol.

45andfine · 11/11/2019 18:40

Also exhausted!

Not sure how I'm going to keep going over next few weeks!? I'm so irritable at the moment, today's midwife was so patronising, telling me that I needed to keep working as long as possible and stopping at 36 weeks would be too early 🙄.

She hadn't read my notes and assumed this was my first NOT fifth baby, didn't know my occupation, nor did she realise how fucking old I am!!

Obv I suggested she read my notes!

I'm not normally this bad tempered!! Think I'll have an early night...

Maybe it's a compliment that they're not worried??

Fingers crossed for a better consultant on Wednesday for the scan! 😂😂

Ginny1234 · 12/11/2019 01:59

@45andfine 😆
It's the same for me, different every time. So frustrating that they're supposed to be reassuring us but can't get their stories straight do I just end up googling everything to death!
Also agree about not reading notes!! 🤯 So sick of having to correct either the midwife or consultant because they've contradicted each other. Midwife keeps going on about WHEN I have my GD test but consultant wrote in my notes weeks ago that I'm not at risk of GD so no testing.

Last midwife appointment also made me feel like I'd put in too much weight so paranoid about it now. 27 weeks and 14lb - is that normal?? Didn't think it was too bad until she pulled a face 🙄

Also exhausted @doublebarrellednurse. Weeing all night, hip pain and acid reflux keeping me awake 😴

Ginny1234 · 12/11/2019 02:03

...feel bad about moaning so much! Absolutely delighted to be having this baby and would put up with anything to hold him in my arms, so really shouldn't complain 😊

45andfine · 12/11/2019 06:50

@ginny1234 same!❤️ And now I'm worried because I haven't felt it move overnight! Acid reflux also keeping me awake. Drinking Gaviscon like water! Any other solutions?

Previous message wasn't meant to sound like a dig at midwives. I really appreciate how hard their job is, and don't suppose my midwife wants to be off long term sick.

I just worry they'll miss something I suppose. I'm grateful for being able to carry this baby at all and want to look after it to best of my ability.

Saw that Hilaria Baldwin lost her 5th baby yesterday at 4 months. I should stop googling 😭.

45andfine · 12/11/2019 06:55

I can't help regarding weight gain. After losing 3 stone after my previous children I became obsessed with keeping it off, by running, but gave that up at 8 weeks.

Figured that my joints have enough to deal with without the extra strain.

The result is that I have piled the weight on 😒.

I know that I'll lose it again so keep shoving that nasty "fat thoughts" to back of my mind.

doublebarrellednurse · 12/11/2019 07:30

It depends where you started from, I was a healthy weight at conception and have gained around 14-18lbs (I've stopped weighing myself now) at 25 weeks. I was told that's fine.

I lost a lot of weight (120+) before I got pregnant so it's hard putting weight on and having no control but it'll come off again.

doublebarrellednurse · 12/11/2019 07:32

Either way she can piss off! As long as you and baby are healthy there's no problem!

My midwife is bigger than me and I'm the pregnant one so she'd be hard pushed to comment, that said I refused to be weighed last time I went as I don't feel it's relevant. I can still wear jeans 1 size up from my normal size and so I feel ok with what I've gained!

sulkysukey · 12/11/2019 14:07

Eek just gone through my diary and worked out with the annual leave I'm taking in Dec I only have 17 days of work left before going on maternity! 😱

LolaLollypop · 12/11/2019 15:27

Had an extra scan this morning as baby has a cyst on it's kidney. Thankfully they don't think it's anything to worry about and although they'll re-scan when baby arrives, they expect everything to progress normally. So big relief in our house!
Also questioned the size of baby due to the "OMG you're tiny" comments and was told all looks fine. Baby is average size, currently measuring 1lb 12oz at 26 weeks :o)

45andfine · 12/11/2019 16:06

@lolalollypop that must've been a worry for you x Glad is turned out ok, and reassuring that there prepared for it now at birth.

@doublebarrellednurse good point... Why exactly are we weighed??

@sulkeysukie 17 days!!! That sounds very close! Mine is MUCH more!!

sulkysukey · 12/11/2019 16:44

@LolaLollypop glad the scan was reassuring and the cyst isn't anything to worry about.
@45andfine I know! I work part time and have 2-3 weeks AL booked in, last day at work mid Jan... it all suddenly seems so close!

Salire86 · 12/11/2019 17:07

Hi all, due feb 14th. All has been going really well thank god but I’ve started getting really bad hip pain at night. I see some other people mentioning and wondering is there anything that helps. I’m getting barely any sleep some nights, suppose it’s prep for what’s to come!

purplefig · 12/11/2019 17:51

@Salire86 I was getting really achy hips overnight - what has helped me is sleeping on top of another folded up duvet + getting a pregnancy pillow and having it between my legs. Also making sure my legs are fairly straight and not too curled up. Major difference.

Salire86 · 12/11/2019 18:01

Truest all that with the addition of a hot water bottle and hasn’t really helped. I took paracetamol last night which definitely eased it but don’t want to be taking it all the time. I have a new bed ordered and might have to just kick himself out until then.

doublebarrellednurse · 12/11/2019 18:51

@LolaLollypop so glad all ok

LolaLollypop · 12/11/2019 19:24

Thanks all :o) Just looking forward to relaxing now and enjoying Christmas!

@Salire86 i'm also suffering with hip pain at night. I find alternating between left and right seems to alleviate it a bit. I know they say we should try and sleep only on left but I find that so uncomfortable for too long. My natural position is on my back, I do wake up on my back some mornings too, whoops! I think as long as you try your best to sleep in the way that works for you, that's all you can do.

Try and do a few stretches before bed if you can too, I find that helps with some of the pain.

Ginny1234 · 12/11/2019 19:36

@45andfine no tips on acid reflux other than Gaviscon, mashed potatoes and cheese. Non of which are on my list of nutritious snacks for baby Lovejoy (temporary nickname for bump!).

@doublebarrellednurse I started off a bit overweight at bmi 29.5 so borderline really. I've been aiming for 15-25lbs like the advice says so I figure I'm not doing bad with 13 weeks/10lbs to go. I guess I could pile on loads over crimbo though 🤔🎄

@sulkysukey Feck! I've just worked mine out and only 31 days left! This shit is getting real 😱

@LolaLollypop great news, you must be so relieved 😊 I feel your pain about the 'tiny' comments except I'm getting the opposite'massive' comments. I'm really not that big!

@Salire86 im up to two pillows between my legs because one wasn't redoing anything. It's much better now but still hobble around in the mornings.

Anyone else having the Whooping Cough vaccine? I've just booked mine in for Friday. Already had the flu jab at 24 weeks. I think the pros definitely outweigh the cons with this one. Baby will still be born in winter/bug season so going to get as much protection as possible!
