Bump shot today. Please ignore the absolute state of my house!! Just had all rooms done pretty much and it is like we’ve moved house with crap everywhere 🙈😩

@hazandduck I know I would never comment on someone's weight. You can feel so vulnerable when pregnant and it can be really upsetting. I'm trying not to let it bother me. But some days you're tired, sore and feeling huge and it's just the worst thing they can comment on.

Your bump is beautiful. Your dd sounds very sweet. My ds is 5 and he keeps kissing my bump and rubbing it.

lovesT · 07/11/2019 16:38

Lovely bumps 😊 I don't think people realise that it can be a lot to get used to even if you love your bump, so comments aren't very helpful!

I had a heart scan today and have a 24hr ECG fitted because of palpitations. I'm not worried because they seem to happen most when I'm anxious but it's good that they're checking, it's just not that comfortable with these stickers and wires! My hips are still sore most nights but I guess it's just one of those things.

I recently found out that my SIL is pregnant which is soooo exciting that we will only be a few months apart 😊😊

Here's my most recent bump picture at 25 weeks ...

Lovely bump pics! Everyone looks great @hazandduck sorry to hear about the sciatica and bump pain - I keep getting pain on RHS bump if I turn too quickly, really hurts but wears off quickly. Hope you can relax a bit now house is done?

@lovesT I've had palpitations on and off all through the pregnancy and haven't mentioned it to anyone, but reading your post I think I will as they obv take it more seriously than I realised. Hope your results are all ok.

I'm finally beginning to kick off the worst cold in the world - felt worried about movements yesterday although I could still feel them they were different. But woke up to loads of thumps and activity so I think it must be down to position that baby's in. Always so much to worry about!

lovesT · 08/11/2019 11:44

@sulkysukey i think it's worth mentioning to your midwife. I told mine at my first appointment because she asked lots of questions and I thought I'd let her know. She wasn't worried but said that she'll put it in the notes and they might send me for a consultation which they did. I didn't have that until my 20 week scan and the doctor said that it can happen in pregnancy but because I've had them before they won't be too careful in pregnancy and will check things just to be sure. So I'm not worried but it's great that they are taking extra precautions 😊

I will have to wait for the results when the consultant has had a look at the scan and ECG which I dropped back at the hospital today (was uncomfortable so I'm glad to be rid of it!) but when I asked the lady who took the scan said she didn't see anything concerning but I'll have to wait and see what the consultant says.

Hopefully that makes you worry less! And anyone else who might have palpitations, they're just taking extra care 😊

Let's talk cots. Anyone thinking of getting a sleep next to me type? Anyone experience in using them? I used a Moses basket with my previous babies, but quite like the look of the open sided cots that attach to the bed...

ballsdeep · 09/11/2019 09:44

I had a next to me crib for my last and it was a life saver. We used a sleepyhead to although I know they are no longer advised for overnight sleeping.

LolaLollypop · 09/11/2019 14:57

Same. Have a Chicco next time crib which was great for the early days when you're feeding every 5min!
Also have a Sleepyhead which my daughter really loved. We didn't use it overnight but was great for naps.

lovesT · 09/11/2019 15:37

We have been given a cot bed which we won't use for a while but have a Moses basket that will go next to our bed 😊 we went shopping for baby stuff today with MIL who helped us out towards a car seat (really love it!). A lady in John Lewis when I was asking about mattresses and looking at baby things said that if they don't get in with the Moses basket we could get one of the ones that go next to the bed with the open bit but we'll just see how baby gets on 😊

Dweebette · 09/11/2019 20:30

If anyone is looking to buy a chicco next 2 me, there's a well reduced one online www.online4baby.com/chicco-next-2-me-crib-dove-grey (this website also has loads of other brands at discount at the minute)

doublebarrellednurse · 10/11/2019 09:12

We've got a snuzpod, got an absolute bargain of one when we were quite early on but couldn't resist it! Like new condition and £30 rather than £200 from someone we know'

I used Moses baskets with my older children, but it creaked so much!! Think I'll keep an eye out for a second hand snuzpod. Off to Google a sleepyhead now! So much stuff I didn't know I needed!!😂

brightbird · 10/11/2019 09:27

We have got a second hand Ikea cot that we plan to take the side off and use next to bed as per many Internet hacks!

45andfine · 10/11/2019 10:33

Ohhhhhhh @brightbird now we're talking!!! I don't need a sleepyhead! I need an IKEA cot!

Bipbop2020 · 10/11/2019 13:25

Hi there! Can I join in? I'm due 22nd Feb and am juuuust starting to believe I might bring a baby home as it's been a bit of a rollercoaster getting here! Am feeling the odd kick and am the size of a house though so I'm reassured by that!
I'm intending to use a Moses basket - mainly because they're cheap and we're on a pretty tight budget! I'm also trying not to buy anything 'unecessary' but at the same time I want all the things! 🙈

doublebarrellednurse · 10/11/2019 14:37

Our actual cot bed is IKEA ! It's exciting this bit: we on a tight budget too and shopping around.

We using cloth nappies and are fully stocked on them and muslin cloths too. We seem to have enough clothes as well.

My son was football captain for his team today and I was so proud! He said he can't wait to teach baby lol

doublebarrellednurse · 10/11/2019 14:38

@Bipbop2020 welcome! Sorry you've had a rough start but we all here for you 😄

Bipbop2020 · 10/11/2019 15:40

Thanks!!!
Our bed is quite high so I don't know if a cot bed will attach/be the same height - I should investigate really I guess 😂 I'm intending him to be in our room for a good long time though (as it's a massive room) so hopefully he'll be ok just in a cot but close to us! I also have the issue of 2 spaniels who currently sleep in our bed and seem to think it's their right 🙄.

So far the grand total of baby stuff I own is a bath thermometer, 9 muslins, one blanket, a Moses basket, 6 nappy boosters and a haakaa type breast pump... There's a lot I need 😂

We plan to cloth nappy too - but I haven't bought anything yet. I'm looking on Facebook sites etc and if I don't have anything good am hoping that black Friday deals will be good! What sort of system are you planning on using?

45andfine · 10/11/2019 20:03

I can't believe how much stuff is actually out there. It's changed so much in the past 17 years!

Anyone actually tried using the traditional flat nappies? Terry nappies as they used to be? What goes over the top of them? My mum used to put like a thick shower cap type pant over mine when I was a baby, but they don't seem to exist?! I really resent paying £15+ per nappy so looking for alternatives.

doublebarrellednurse · 10/11/2019 21:05

@45andfine I've paid about £60 for all of ours!! 16 with inserts.

I used motherease with my son with plastic nappy pants over the top. This time gone for little blooms with carbon inserts. Just need to get some fleece liners and I'm set!

eBay is great for nappies, brand new and second hand. The second hand is pretty good quality too but I managed to get these new. I've washed them all and had a lovely batch ready.

45andfine · 10/11/2019 21:17

Is there a reason you've swapped? I do just LOVE some of the designs!!! Are the little bloom ones pocket type?

doublebarrellednurse · 10/11/2019 21:31

Just what seems widely available and they are pretty !

They are pocket ones, all in one and just add inserts. I like the carbon inserts as they seem to smell less.

brightbird · 10/11/2019 21:53

We want to use reusable nappies but currently leaning towards disposable ones for the first month or so as everything will be new and from what we've read it's likely to be fiddlier/less effective /require different nappies for newborn. Thoughts welcome.
@Bipbop2020 realised that the cot we have, can always just drill a couple extra holes to change the height of the higher setting, though we haven't checked it properly yet. Yours may be similar

doublebarrellednurse · 10/11/2019 22:09

I didnt first time round @brightbird used the same from the beginning, I've got some free newborn disposables for the hospital but that's it
