@FirstTim3Mummy I would speak really honestly with your midwife and try and get support. I totally get it though... its causing my huge anixety and as I had a really awful time with my first I know how hard it can be. All options terrify me... wish there was such thing as a magic wand!

Ladies can I ask how much weight you've all put on so far I know its really personal but I'm panicking I've already put on to much for where I am... put on 9lbs and nearly 16 weeks... put on 6 st with my first and really dont want to do it again. Help!

New here due 30/01 just wanted to ask has anyone on here had a previous section and is struggling with back pain already. I'm thinking of getting a belly band or bump support but have no idea where to start???

Cannyhandleit · 06/08/2019 11:12

@user1500364746 I've had 2 previous sections and had terrible lower back pain!

😊

SleepingStandingUp · 06/08/2019 11:19

I had a C sec last time and have lots of pain around my scar and lower tummy but back ache is just usual level.

mynameisMrG · 06/08/2019 12:23

I’ve put on a stone and a half @Chuchu14 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Chuchu14 · 06/08/2019 13:17

Good to know I'm not alone @mynameisMrG BlushTrying to be healthy and balanced but sometimes its feels my body just needs the extra. Had a moment in the soft play where I felt woozy and faint then realised I'd only had a couple of slices of toast at lunch. Ate some flapjack and it honestly saved me from ending up in a pile on the floor!

Glittergirl2 · 06/08/2019 14:02

@Chuchu14 I've put on around 6 pounds but this has gone on over the last few weeks. I'm so hungry all of the time now, I actually don't know where this is going to end haha

Glittergirl2 · 06/08/2019 14:04

@FirstTim3Mummy I'm the opposite, the thought of having a C Section frightens the life out of me

Kinsters · 06/08/2019 14:14

I've put on about 7lbs so far but yeah, like Glittergirl2 it's only over the past few weeks so who knows what it'll be by the end! I can't stop drinking milk and eating peanut butter on toast!

I'm quite ambivalent about a c-section tbh - I don't know if it's similar in any way but I had my appendix out when I was 18 and the recovery was fine, only painful if I laughed or coughed. Though I wasn't trying to take care of a newborn obviously! I'd prefer a vaginal birth but not too fussed.

SleepingStandingUp · 06/08/2019 14:53

For those worried about C section, I can only give my experience but I had an emergency one at 35 weeks, Inc a spinal block in between frequent contractions. It was suprisnly quick and simple (unlike dearest baby). I was in a wheelchair in NICU within 3 hours altho it's meant to be six, so you are pretty incapacitated for those first hours but after that it's just about good pain management. I certainly wasn't resting but healed fine, no problems with it afterwards etc. I may choose planned C Sec this time as childcare for DS isn't always easy as hes on o2 etc so labour at 2 am would be a total pita

Cannyhandleit · 06/08/2019 15:04

I've had 1 emcs and 1 elective, both quick, painless, no complications and speedy recovery. 1st my baby was taken to special care so I was up to see him as soon as possible and never really took time to sit back and recover because I was so worried about him and running back and forward for feeds etc. 2nd I was home within 24hrs and I was driving within a couple of weeks both times aswell.
Obviously I know people do have compilations and things go wrong but these are just my experiences where I recovered waaaaay quicker than my friends who had vaginal deliveries.
I have opted for another elective this time.

Glittergirl2 · 06/08/2019 15:28

Thanks @Cannyhandleit & @SleepingStandingUp not much usually bothers me but the last few days I've had this C Section worry stuck in my head. I know if I had to have one then there's nothing I can do about it and I'd just have to get on with it, think it's the whole theatre situation that worries me x

SleepingStandingUp · 06/08/2019 15:32

Utter sleep deprivation, has and air and no food, you'll just blissfully breeze your way through 😂😂

Cannyhandleit · 06/08/2019 15:44

@Glittergirl2 oh I know it is all very daunting and hopefully you will have no reason to go to theatre. With my elective though it was really quite nice, everyone was talking and laughing with us, they asked if we wanted music on and dp was there for the entire thing, it was very relaxed.

SleepingStandingUp · 06/08/2019 16:10

I've put on 9lb since conception but 4 of those were in the last week lol. According to my fatness, I'm meant to put on 25-42 lbs overall

lifesnotaspectatorsport · 06/08/2019 16:49

I've put on 5kg so far but almost all of it was the first 8 weeks where I just ate everything in sight! Weight gain has slowed down now thankfully. I put on about 13kg total with my first, expecting it to be more this time obviously.

Chuchu14 · 06/08/2019 17:11

Thanks Ladies nice to know I'm not alone on the weight gain front! I know it's part of it and I'm sure as long as I'm mainly eating a balanced diet it will all be ok.

Thanks so much for sharing c-section stories as I really think this might be the route I'm going to take. Had such a traumatic time with DS1 and all the had a VBAC with forceps it took me nearly 9 weeks to recover. @Cannyhandleit it's nice to hear such positive recovery stories, can I ask did it impact feeding much after the baby was born. I ended up bottle feeding DS1 so not to fussed if we end up going down that route but would like to give BF my best go again!

Lyssa91 · 06/08/2019 17:15

@kinsters yes we will be finding out at our 20 week appointment in 3 weeks!!! I think boy too, my cravings have been anything salty!

Lyssa91 · 06/08/2019 17:25

@chuchu14 at my last appointment(16 week checkup) I gained 16 pounds since conception. I have always weighed the same 120lbs my whole adult life. 13 pounds were from the first trimester because the only way I could keep the nausea away was to constantly eat!

Cannyhandleit · 06/08/2019 20:33

@Chuchu14 I was unable to bf ds1 but that had nothing to do with my c section, he has Down's syndrome which made feeding very difficult and he had ago be tube fed for the first wee while. I had no problems at all feeding ds2, I told them I wanted to breastfeed before I went into theatre so when I was all fixed up they lay me on my side so I could feed him easily. Once I was up and about I never had any pain that impacted on how I could hold him for feeding which I was kind of expecting!

mynameisMrG · 06/08/2019 20:35

Sneezed and wet myself last night.

The glamorous side of pregnancy

plipliop · 06/08/2019 21:05

11 lbs at 18 weeks for me.

Hoping not to gain too much. Put on way to much with my first and ended up with preeclampsia :(

Baby is moving loads now. Little wriggler!
Just had a week in Malta which was lovely. Then 3 nights camping - great but tiring.

Have just started clearing out the playroom which will become baby's room. My boys have so many books and toys. Seriously decluttering going on over here. Satisfying.
