Heya could I join?. I’m due on the 1st with my 2nd. Will be finding out soon what the sex is. We think we’re going to be having another boy.

Bluebelltulip · 03/08/2019 19:53

Hi Bella welcome I remember you from another thread. I'm also waiting for heart scans after a previous baby with a congenital heart condition.

Bellasblankexpression · 03/08/2019 20:31

Thanks for the welcome! Hi bluebell yes I’ve been around a little while under a few other names :)
Sorry to hear you’ve got the extra stress of all the monitoring too (although I know it’s a good thing) was your baby with the condition okay? (I hope you don’t mind me asking I’m terrible at remembering usernames!) I hope so.
And I hope everything is going okay for you so far this pregnancy

Bluebelltulip · 03/08/2019 20:52

Bella sadly not, she died at 32 weeks gestation. She had sub-ventricular tachycardia (SVT) and I was taking medication to lower her heart rate from 27 weeks but it stopped working. Do you mind me asking what condition your baby had?

Bellasblankexpression · 03/08/2019 21:09

I’m so so sorry to hear that. I hope you didn’t mind me asking.
Of course not - severe hydropathic cardiomyopathy was discovered at our twenty week scan (thickening off the heart muscle, not usually visible til later gestation) and pulmonary stenosis.
We had tests to rule out genetic causes and conditions but they couldn’t find anything to link it so it’s been deemed low risk that it will happen again - I can’t help but expect worst case scenario though!
Because it can develop at any time we will be having a lot of scans over the next few months to monitor the heart development. I get so nervous before every one. So far they found a bit of excess fluid on the heart but such a minor level of “excess” it’s been deemed borderline so I got cleared for infection and just have to wait until the next scans to rule out chromosomal disorders but my screening came back low risk so they think it is likely to amount to nothing.

Wow that was long sorry! How are you finding it this time round? I find that I’m very up and down!

Bluebelltulip · 03/08/2019 21:23

We are in a similar position, it's not genetic and can develop at any point so will be having regular checks. I'm also up and down, it's been harder than I thought.

Bellasblankexpression · 03/08/2019 21:28

Me too @Bluebelltulip I seemed to be okay until
we got to our first heart scan and then I just found it really hard to be in the same room with the same doctor etc
I’m so envious of people who are excited not that I would wish this on them but I feel like I can’t let myself be!
I’m not glad you’re going through this, but it IS nice to have someone who totally gets it if that makes sense? When is your next scan?

Bluebelltulip · 04/08/2019 08:20

@Bellablankexpression I haven't had a heart scan yet, it's booked for a few weeks but need to change it as I'm on holiday. You are welcome to join 'The Graduates of TTC after pregnancy loss' thread if you like it's in the pregnancy section. Also feel free to send me a DM if you want. I too miss the excitement I felt in my previous pregnancies.

Bellasblankexpression · 04/08/2019 11:08

Ill definitely DM, don’t want to hijack this thread (sorry everyone!) and thank you ill search it out. Hope you have a lovely holiday x

SleepingStandingUp · 04/08/2019 11:33

It's lovely you have found each other x

Bellasblankexpression · 04/08/2019 11:35

thanks @sleepingstandingup back to general chat now I promise :)

Hope everyone is doing okay this weekend. I have tentatively started looking at prams - does anyone know what they're getting/got one already?

SleepingStandingUp · 04/08/2019 13:30

We had a single from first born 😂
No chance of me buying anything until much closer, both for space and because I feel like it's tempting fate even tho I know that's ridiculous

Soph43 · 04/08/2019 18:56

@Bellasblankexpression I have ordered a silver cross wave..
Couldn’t help myself 🙈 also ordered mamas and papas nursery furniture 😂 and upgraded my holiday next month.. been an expensive few days in this house 😂 only the best for our baby boy 💙

ChampagneBuffet · 04/08/2019 19:12

We got a bugaboo cameleon. We’ve also done the nursery out and moved our eldest into his beg bed in his new room. It’s been a busy few days here too. We’ve got a name for both sexes now.

mynameisMrG · 04/08/2019 21:03

We have had such a busy weekend celebrating my little boys 3rd birthday. I am dead on my feet! Did tell my BILs and their wives about the baby though. 18 weeks tomorrow, nearly halfway

lifesnotaspectatorsport · 04/08/2019 21:19

Just arrived in the U.K. and looking forward to telling friends and family our news in person 😊

We like the look of the BabyJogger City twin stroller but probably won't buy until much nearer the time (definitely nothing before 20 week scan). I still can't quite believe it's happening 😮

FirstTim3Mummy · 05/08/2019 18:02

Are any of you lovely ladies going for an elected c section without physical medical reason or previous pregnancy?

SleepingStandingUp · 05/08/2019 18:28

You wouldn't be allowed at my hosspital

Bubblebubble123 · 05/08/2019 19:16

I had a planned section on my first because of a low lying placenta. I’m hoping not to have to go through it again. Would love to give the VBAC a go at least!

FirstTim3Mummy · 05/08/2019 22:15

Thanks both. I'm so anxious about the whole " birth thing " that thinking about it makes me faint and vomit. I've been referred to MH team but still not heard anything. I have low lying placenta so IF that doesn't improve then I will need one but the anxiety is making me think I should just ask for one anyway.

I'm scared something bad will happen and I'll end up being an emergency

I'll know more at my 20 week scan

Sorry ... Every time I try to read about birth or c sections I end up throwing up

SleepingStandingUp · 05/08/2019 22:33

Extreme anxiety might qualify you, have you talked to your midwife about it?

ChampagneBuffet · 05/08/2019 23:54
  • @FirstTim3Mummy* from what the NHS website says, everyone’s entitled to one if they feel they need it. You should be offered counselling to talk about how you feel, but someone will have to approve it and if they don’t you will be passed on until someone else does. Extreme anxiety may mean that you’re allowed one.
Lyssa91 · 06/08/2019 04:58

Hi ladies! I was on the first few threads but have had my 3 young cousins(ages 5,7,10) with me for the summer and have not had the time to get on...or do anything for myself haha.. I am due Jan 10th and this will be my first baby!

Lyssa91 · 06/08/2019 05:09

Anybody familiar with the nub theory and want to take a guess at my babies gender? Just for fun!

January 2020 - thread six
Kinsters · 06/08/2019 08:44

FirstTim3Mummy you poor thing, that sounds awful. You absolutely can request a c-section, you wanting one should be a good enough reason. If the Dr you see won't book you in then ask them to refer you to someone who will (do you have someone who can advocate for you at appointments like your partner?).

If you have the funds and want to could you look into ways to overcome what sounds like a phobia. It's not for everyone but I had really good results with hypnotherapy for overcoming my own phobia.

Lyssa91 I'm going to guess boy (I'm terrible at guessing though)! Are you finding out?
