@splishandsplash mine is tomorrow. No late night snack tonight. I don't look forward to it...

WatchingTheMoon · 23/09/2019 12:49

I'm doing mine soon but I wasn't told not to fast. Hm.

SleepingStandingUp · 23/09/2019 13:04

Oh God the news about a Thomas Cook is making me cry. I blame the babies!!!

#toohormonalforthenews

SleepingStandingUp · 23/09/2019 14:01

@mummabear18 which reminds me, Victoria is on hiday with Thomas Cook so might not get to you for a few days...

Kinsters · 23/09/2019 14:24

SleepingStandingUp I've been quite hormonal too. Mine is all to do with food though, if I eat some particularly delicious food it makes me cry! I also cried loads watching Aladdin on the plane 😂

It's affected DH as well, he cried when we were shopping for baby clothes and there were all the preemie baby grows and for some reason the shop was playing sad music and it was too much!

I think I'll do the glucose test this weekend, or at least ask about doing it.

SleepingStandingUp · 23/09/2019 14:27

Is was a video of the air hostesses telling the flight that basically they'd just found ojt Thomas Cook was done. They're having to work the flight knowing they won't get paid 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Ooh I lose track of who lives where, can you do the GTT as an optional extra where you are Kinsters?

I'm a crier anyway, but I've also cried through both twin sessions at hospital so now the midwife ignores me 😂😂😂😂😂

Kinsters · 24/09/2019 01:35

Sleeping I'm in Malaysia and its a bit haphazard, if I asked for the GTT they'd do it but not sure whether it's standard. I've avoided any sad videos!

WatchingTheMoon · 24/09/2019 07:34

In Korea, it seems the glucose test is standard, they basically do every single test possible here - hospitals love to fleece you for every last penny.

SleepingStandingUp · 24/09/2019 10:38

That'll be us after Brexit and Ruler of the United Kingdom Sir Lord Knight Boris Johnson 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

PeachPixie · 24/09/2019 22:11

Is anyone else having an issue with their midwife? Mine doesn't listen, refused point blank to book consultant appointments and additional scans a specialist had ordered. Cancelled my last appointment with the consultant (without telling me) because I'd been my midwife the day before so why would I need to see the consultant.
Does not listen to anything I say, no matte how many times I repeat it, doesn't bother with some checks, other she does and says it's fine then one had problems after or noticed on my online notes wild swings in my blood pressure that she should have done something about (always possible she's filling in the notes wrong right enough)
Was bad enough that I took my mum with me to the last appointment to check it wasn't just me.
Any advice on how to change or what to do?
I don't trust her at all anymore and to be honest even if every future appointment with her was great I still wouldn't. Last two appointments triggered my anxiety really badly which up til now had been very well managed during my pregnancy

WatchingTheMoon · 24/09/2019 23:08

"Is anyone else having an issue with their midwife? Mine doesn't listen"

not the midwife but the doctor (that is who we see here), luckily it's easy for us to change (not UK).

No practical advice but I get it. It's horrible to feel like the person responsible for so much important stuff isn't listening and doesn't seem to care about you.

I totally get what you mean that even if she was amazing from now on, you couldn't trust her. I feel the same with my doctor, I literally hate her and the thought of seeing her makes me so anxious.

I hope you find a solution.

NC2020 · 25/09/2019 05:41

@PeachPixie the community midwives where I am are allocated a gp surgery, is that where you see yours?
They should then have a team leader who oversees the whole team. I think first of all speak to that team leader and they can reallocate you.
The community midwives are set up differently in each locality so it's hard to give you specific advice. But she will be part of a team and will have a team leader, it's just finding them.

I have the names and mobile numbers of each member of the team including the manager on my paper notes. But it sounds like you don't have paper notes?

SleepingStandingUp · 25/09/2019 09:22

I'd start with GP surgery but also call the general hospital no. and ask to speak to the secretary of Dr Cinsultant, explain what's happened and see if thry can help directly too.

We have a specialist twin one and she's amazing, one of those people I wish I'd met in a pub so we could be friends people. So there are excellent ones out there. Good look

PeachPixie · 25/09/2019 12:19

Thanks everyone for your help! Sorry for the slightly incoherent wall of text.

I don't have paper notes unfortunately and the only number I have for the midwife's is a main office one which this crap midwife answered last time I rang it. Not even been given the name for the consultant never mind a direct number, I've seen a few different ones (all okay TBF, though the last one was particularly good so I wish I knew her name)

I have a regular GP appointment about my anxiety next Friday so I'm going to bring it up then but the midwifery and GP services seem quite detached from each other here (maybe a Scottish thing?)

I hope you get your issues sorted too Watching The Moon

SleepingStandingUp · 25/09/2019 14:24

Hey so I think I can add people to the Facebook group now. If there's anyone who wants to join who hasn't I think you just need it pm m your email address that you use for Facebook

Baby4mum · 26/09/2019 02:54

@PeachPixie - Hope the issue gets sorted soon. There must be some numbers to reschedule appointments in the letters you receive for upcoming community midwife and hospital appointments. This number I believe is of the midwifery / antenatal unit associated with the hospital where you are registered. I had called one of these numbers during my first trimester to get my midwife changed and got directed to the right contact. I now have a very good one. Try this out if you haven’t already.

Where I stay, the GP is hardly aware / connected with the midwifery but as NC2020 mentioned, it might be worth asking them if calling the midwifery unit doesn’t help.

Baby4mum · 26/09/2019 03:09

@SleepingStandingUp - I bet that will be the case after Brexit! Just over a month left and still the same chaos!

And talk about crying!! Today I was craving for cream (weird🤨) and cried like a baby at 9 pm trying to convince my DH how cream was so important for my survival😂🤣 Poor thing had to actually go out and get it.

@splishandsplash - hope the glucose test went fine? I had mine today - i felt so drowsy throughout the day after having that dodgy yellow drink. I had a meeting after my test and I could barely keep my eyes open!! And this was despite having the usual 9-10 hrs of sleep last night! Is it normal?

splishandsplash · 26/09/2019 05:57

@Baby4mum I haven't felt right since the glucose test!
I was fine before it but now I'm exhausted?!
I had to nap at work after the glucose test, I think it's fairly normal but then again, I have no idea?
Hopefully get the results back soon!
Hope you start to feel better soon xx

WatchingTheMoon · 27/09/2019 21:57

I'm on an fb pregnancy group with mostly Americans, generally all lovely ladies but they seem to buy sooo much stuff, have the nursery all prepared and have mountains of clothes. And even tons of nappies already.

I'm not being totally lax by having nothing more than a few items of clothing and a buggy, am I? I feel like with the internet, we can get anything delivered within 24 hours anyway so no need to buy heaps of stuff but am I being stupid?

SleepingStandingUp · 27/09/2019 23:21

(keeps quiet and strokes her pile of nappies and updates her stockpile spreadsheet)

PeachPixie · 27/09/2019 23:57

Well...ive bought quite a few clothes but also have the kitchen, bathroom, utility, external and internal doors, partial rewire and all the floors downstairs to all get done before I do the nursery so....

Kinsters · 29/09/2019 06:38

I've bought so little stuff, a few clothes and toys and that's it. We moved house this weekend and we're planning to get organised after that but there's quite a bit to do to the house so I think it'll be getting quite close to December before we organise everything properly! Can't believe it's almost October, where is time going?!

SleepingStandingUp · 29/09/2019 09:19

Thing is in reality there's so little they really need early on, and then there's Christmas presents. It'll be fine

WatchingTheMoon · 29/09/2019 11:08

kinsters Good to know I'm not the only one. My husband's cousin has a bunch of stuff to give us but my husband keeps procrastinating actually picking it up so until he's done that I'm reluctant to buy anything.

karryk · 29/09/2019 18:29

I've bought absolutely nothing! I'm going to reuse a few of my daughter's bits and the newborn clothes I'll get in November. Nappies will be ordered at the same time 👍🏼 amazon was my best friend last time - as long as you've got your bits for the first week or so sorted out, you can do the rest as you go along Smile

Has anyone else tried a belly belt? This bub seems to be hanging much lower and I'm getting pelvic aches much earlier than before Sad I wonder whether it might help if I wear it to and from work. I've got someone coming to do a pregnancy massage on Thursday but that seems ages away 😖
