Thank you all
I’ll keep thinking if I really need a chair or not

Stroan · 05/08/2019 22:08

@hsunshine I was thinking about a chair this time and there were loads on Gumtree in really good condition and very cheap. I missed out on a few and then couldn't be bothered looking anymore.

We’re not buying a chair, plan to see how we get on with what we have now. We do have an old Ikea chair with footstool that might work, but if I have a section I won’t be able to get in and out of it as it is too reclined.
I’m hoping bed and sofas will be fine instead!

Karigan195 · 05/08/2019 22:17

My chair I got when I had my first son is still going strong 11 years later. Had to reupholster it but it’s still otherwise in good condition. It was cream and I spilt stuff on it! My son uses it to play x box now. Wondering how I’m going to tell him I’m stealing it back

Puglover88 · 05/08/2019 23:23

@Hsunshine I wasn’t sure about getting a chair either but I found a mother care gliding one being advertised on Facebook marketplace for £20 so I bought it - it is super comfy but definitely something that I’d only get second hand!

Hsunshine · 05/08/2019 23:47

Can the baby kick too much? Lying in bed on my side and baby has kicked continuously in the same place counted over 100 times in just a few mins
I turned into my other side and now baby is doing the same

Tefiti2 · 05/08/2019 23:55

@hsunshine my MW told me that they always want to know about any change in baby’s pattern of movement - too much or too little!

Hsunshine · 06/08/2019 01:22

@Tefiti2 thank you
I called triage and she said they don’t usually worry but I could go in or eat food and monitor for an hour then decide. So I ate food and waited and seems calmer now. They said I can call back later tonight or tomorrow if not back to normal

Whisky2014 · 06/08/2019 05:16

@Hsunshine I know they say about being wary of both increased and decreased movement but when I went in with increased movements 2 weeks ago they really weren't concerned and told me, really, the worry is decreased movement

Still better safe than sorry imo

boodles101 · 06/08/2019 06:55

kyles I had no leakage whatsoever, didn't need to use breast pads or anything last time and I bf my son til he was 1, so it's absolutely no reflection on supply.

I didn't have a chair last time and not bothering this time either. Haven't really got the space for it!

Karigan is your 11 year old starting high school this Sept? Mine is. Feels so strange to have one en route to the teen years while another is yet to be born!

35+5 and just threw up Hmm

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 06/08/2019 07:38

Awful nights sleep here. Think I’ve caught the stomach bug my daughter had over the weekend and I was up all night throwing up. Finally fell asleep at 5am, to be woken up again at 6:15am. Feel nauseous and drained.

Karigan195 · 06/08/2019 07:40

@IVEgottheDECAF. He was born on the 1.9 so I was given a choice of him being the youngest in the class or the oldest. He turns 11 in a month. I chose oldest so he’s got one more year in juniors . I’m glad I did as he’s scarily bright but completely immature and has dyspraxia so it gives him a slight advantage.

Got the consultant and a scan again today. Guess we find out what the plan is!

IVEgottheDECAF · 06/08/2019 07:45

Ah i see karigan! Good that you get the choice! I dont know what i would have chosen! Dc2 is going in to Year 6 this year, he is summer born but early summer. I havent had to deal with an August / September born before!

TheCraicDealer · 06/08/2019 08:25

I was at the hospital for reduced movements last night Hsunshine. It wasn't that I'd not felt the baby move at all, but that since the middle of last week she's been way quieter throughout the day to the extent I was going hours without feeling her. Even when I was at home relaxing (i.e., when she previously preferred to party-party) she was still quiet. Any movements I did get were more subtle as well.

So we trotted off the emergency obstetric unit last night and had a trace done, everything is good. She had been transverse at my last appointment and has flipped head down, and they said sometimes a change in position can trigger a change in pattern. They did some measurements on the scan and she's at 4lb 11oz but obviously taking that with a salt bae level of salt due to the inaccuracy of those things. The staff were really understanding even though I 100% came across like your stereotypical anxious first timer. It's all about what's normal for you and your baby, so please go in if you're still worried.

I got a Joie 2-in-1 rocker off Facebook Marketplace last week, one of those £150 jobbies that rocks, vibrates, plays music, etc. It's in excellent condition and I got it for £55. DNephew is enjoying his temporary upgrade from his basic bouncer until we need it in September!

Anyone else found they're the opposite of constipated? I'm more regular than I've ever been Blush suppose that's good, really. Speaking of shitting oneself, I reminded my boss yesterday I only have six full weeks of work left. Oh his little face Grin

IVEgottheDECAF · 06/08/2019 10:16

It seems odd to think you have 6 weeks of work left and some of us only have 3 or 4 weeks until due date!

Karigan195 · 06/08/2019 10:20

Ugh just had an internal exam and maybe a sweep. Not sure she did the sweep though. Apparently he’s still fairly high and cervix is closed so probably got a few days yet. Another appt in 7 days when induction/elective c section will be discussed.

Megan2018 · 06/08/2019 11:46

@TheCraicDealer I’ve been in twice with similar as she is often too quiet in the day, but as soon as they put the monitor on she goes crazy! It seems I just don’t feel all the movements she makes during the day.
It was the same at MW this week-felt nothing, MW started listening to heart and these feet started sticking out - but weirdly I couldn’t feel it but could see it.

@Karigan195 so close for you now! Eeek! I’m so jealous.

Totally bored in the office, this week is the lull before A level results storm. I have Friday off then in all next week, then I’m done. Time is dragging Sad

boodles101 · 06/08/2019 12:16

Oh wow karigan definitely getting close for you.
I'm uncomfortable today. Babies have definitely got lower and I'm being headbutted in the cervix. I have a lovely shelf to rest any food on at the top of my bump, but at least they are away from my ribs!! I'm not convinced I'll last much longer now!

Puglover88 · 06/08/2019 12:34

@TheCraicDealer I’ve also been in for reduced movements a few times and I’ve found the baby is always quieter during the day - even if I have time to sit down and focus on movements I don’t feel her as much and they’re very subtle. She’s much more active and forceful in the evenings and then she tends to quieten down again overnight. Also, I’m with you on the constant pooing! 🤦‍♀️

@Karigan195 ah not long now then - how exciting!

@boodles101 sounds like you’re getting closer too - I feel like we’re going to have a sudden influx of babies very soon!

happydays00 · 06/08/2019 12:59

@Karigan195 would you prefer induction or c section? They seem to be leaving it quite late for you to make a decision?

I wish I was pooing every day!! I'm so constipated despite eating all the fruit in sight and glugging lactulose from the bottle. My piles reached absolutely outrageous levels over the weekend I was actually terrified my insides were just going to fall out of me.

@boodles101 glad your ribs have been given some respite - how much longer have you got left.

My section is in 9 days and counting... waaaaaahhhhhh. I had planned on doing 2-3 hours work a day from the sofa (just tying up loose admin bits) but I've tried today and failed miserably so just going to wave the white flag I think.

happydays00 · 06/08/2019 13:00

@boodles101 I forgot to ask: did you decide on a c section in the end? Have they booked you a date yet?

boodles101 · 06/08/2019 13:02

happydays I've got 3 weeks max. Seeing consultant tomorrow and I'm hoping to pin him down on a date and hopefully the week before the bank holiday rather than after. But I'm not sure he will agree with that if there's no other reason than just cos I want it. But I just want a date now so that I know when it'll end!!

boodles101 · 06/08/2019 13:04

happydays posted too soon. Yes csection is booked but haven't actually been given a date just a rough estimate of between 37-38weeks. Wow 9 days!!! Thats so soon, I'm slightly jealous lol
