Omg i cant cool down Shock

IVEgottheDECAF · 25/07/2019 18:28

So yesterday i noticed the slight swelling of ankles. One ankle is sore when i flex the foot or turn from side to side. I havent done anything to it. Any ideas?

Puglover88 · 25/07/2019 18:35

@IVEgottheDECAF Not sure why your ankle would be sore but my ankles are definitely bigger in this heat! I was just putting it down to another lovely 3rd trimester symptom! 😩

IVEgottheDECAF · 25/07/2019 18:37

Its probably just fed up of carrying the weight of me! Blush

boodles101 · 25/07/2019 19:03

decaf my feet and ankles are defo bigger in the heat, my shoes didn't fit today and I now have a nice strap mark.

Thunder is just starting here, I may just go and stand out in the rain for a while!

IVEgottheDECAF · 25/07/2019 19:16

It actually feels a bit like spd. In my ankle. Now i know that makes no sense. I think the heat has rotted my brain

Florencenotflo · 25/07/2019 19:53

@IVEgottheDECAF I've got swollen ankles and feet (just from the heat I think) but mine are sore across the tops of my feet which is weird. But I've been wearing flip flops an awful lot which aren't very supportive.

I've got a child free day tomorrow so I'm going to do a big shop, stock up on store cupboard stuf, cleaning products, toiletries etc. Then I'm having my nails done, hair cut and a pedicure ☺️ I cannot wait. The poor woman that does my feet has already earned a decent tip because I just need my feet rubbing properly! DH has tried but he's too soft and just ends up irritating me.

Rain, thunder and lightening here (South East) which has brought a delightful breeze. I'm sat in a beach dress with a fan pointed directly at me, too lazy to move!

And I'm not sure if this baby knows I'm now slightly more organised but wow the braxton hicks have picked up a bit! I've had 4 or 5 this evening which have made me stop what I'm doing. No more since about 7 (since I sat down) so maybe I just need a little rest 😂 that's what I'm telling myself anyway!

IVEgottheDECAF · 25/07/2019 19:59

Oh i have been flip flopping too i wonder if thats the problem!

I used Dylon in my washing machine today and have spent the rest of the day trying to get it back clean Blush so i still havent washed baby clothes as i am scared of putting them in there!

Whisky2014 · 25/07/2019 20:07

@pugglover88
Has anyone else had a MW appointment where they’ve pushed down quite hard to feel baby? My baby’s head is really low in my pelvis and it was really uncomfortable when the MW pushed down

Yes! I had a student nurse do it 2 weeks ago and I was going to say to the midwife this week about how I think the student pushed too hard.
But this week it was the student and the midwife and this time the student was ok and the midwife did the strong pushes! I found it uncomfy and a bit shocking how hard they pressed. Thinking of my baby's poor head!!

I'm pretty sure I woke up with Braxton hicks this morning. But it was actually really sore and I wondered how I'll cope with a contraction if this is a "fake" contraction. Hmm anyway only lasted a minute and that was it.

firstbabybean · 25/07/2019 20:47

@Stroan thank you for the new thread and sorry you are suffering so much! I wanted to ask about the hypo’s if you don’t mind? I looked back in this and the previous thread but couldn’t find why they are so dangerous. I’ve got GD too and my blood sugar has been really low in the last week, regularly going down to around 3 several times a day. My doctor hasn’t flagged it though but I’m worried it’s doing baby bean some harm. I will obviously ask the doctor next week but was interested in your experience with it.

@Karigan195 I’m with you on the GD / older mum / blood pressure anxiety! I’m sure stress doesn’t help either. My house is a building site with lazy builders who don’t seem to appreciate or care than I only have 4 weeks left and would like not to have to go to the wire with the renovation being finished! And I also got my car stolen last week. Aaaarrrrggghh! Deep breaths! 😬🤣

Florencenotflo · 25/07/2019 20:52

It's likely @IVEgottheDECAF your ligaments all loosen up anyway and if you've got SPD it's not surprising that other joints start to play up.

Stroan · 25/07/2019 21:23

Hi @firstbabybean are you on insulin? There's some info here on low blood sugar levels, it's not a danger to the baby but can be bad for you.

www.gestationaldiabetes.co.uk/low-levels/

In my case, they are worried because they are unexplained and I've had to reduce insulin to stabilise them. That can happen towards the end of pregnancy but it's not normal at 32 weeks. It can also be a sign of placenta deterioration so they have to keep an eye on it.

However if you aren't on insulin, I don't think they would be as worried. Does it make you feel really ill though?

happydays00 · 25/07/2019 21:45

@Stroan can you get in sooner than 12 days to see a consultant? That seems crazy to me given what's going on!

My contractions are still fairly constant and they've suggested I go in 3 times a week for monitoring and fluid checks now. I might as well live there!!!! Section booked for 4 weeks today but I suspect it will be bought forwards with all this increase in monitoring etc

Christ ladies, the heat. I am just praying this heat wave doesn't return when we are delivering our babies!

firstbabybean · 25/07/2019 21:49

Thank you @stroan that’s really helpful. I’m not on insulin, and don’t feel too ill when my blood glucose is low, just usual 3rd trimester lack of energy and weakness! Hope you are ok, you’ve had a really rough ride this pregnancy! Fingers crossed for a smooth last few weeks x

Karigan195 · 25/07/2019 22:00

@firstbabybean

Gosh that all sucks! Hope the car and house get sorted quickly.

I’m trying not to stress out too much but isn’t easy is it.

I was googling low blood sugar earlier. According to my book 3 isn’t desperately out of the optimum range which may be why they aren’t doing much but I think I would push for an answer if I were you

kyles101 · 25/07/2019 22:47

I have not enjoyed being pregnant this evening. It is so hot. The only people I feel more sorry for are any poor ladies labouring in this heat 🥵 my dog doesn't even know where to put herself.

I've just soaked some pj shorts and vest and squeezed them out. Now have them on laid on top of the bed with the fan on. It's helped but I suspect it's only going to be half an hour or so before they dry out 😭

And fanny daggers and rock boobs decided to make a reappearance today. I think baby was trying to get out this morning, but has now decided that as that failed it would plant itself behind my ribs instead because you know, who needs to breathe 😬

Stroan · 25/07/2019 22:56

@firstbabybean you aren't having the best of luck between houses and builders.

@karigan195 no, I definitely had some readings in the 3s last time and felt fine (diet controlled). I don't really understand what makes it different with being insulin controlled but I felt awful today. It was like I had done ten shots of tequila in the middle of Asda, I was confused about why I was there, half of my face was numb, everything was tingly and I felt absolutely hammered.

My big concern is that my numbers went from being erratic and on the higher side to being consistently low with hypos. And that's not the normal pattern at this stage. I just made the mistake of reading a research paper about the adverse complications when the mother has had to reduce insulin. (Which I have...). That was a stupid thing to do.

I don't think they will do much really, they still want to know about any unexplained hypos so all I can do is be vigilant and make sure I catch any that happen.

It's so bloody hot...
I can't sleep
DH is snoring like a bastard
The fan is keeping me cool but sounds like a plane is in my bedroom
I have horrendous heartburn and I think I've just eaten the last of the rennie (without going through the toiletry bag I usually take away with me
Dd has a cough or a cold and keeps waking herself up
We have thunder and lightning here

Can someone please tell me to get a grip and stop moaning!!! Dd will be up at 5.30 😩 and so far I've had about 2 hours sleep!

Fortheloveofscience · 26/07/2019 03:24

Awake here too, Easter. Our storms started about 20 minutes ago so really hoping it’ll start to feel a bit cooler our bedroom is still 29 degrees. DH insisted on buying a gro egg thermometer on amazon prime day that is set up on his bedside table and has been glowing red smugly at us for days!

Fortheloveofscience · 26/07/2019 03:26

Can you try a bit of milk for the heartburn? Mine doesn’t seem as bad since I started having gaviscon before bed each night. I think at 3am you’re allowed to moan!

Florencenotflo · 26/07/2019 06:07

I didn't think of milk @Fortheloveofscience that would have been a good idea. Will stock up on rennie today but will remember that in future!

As expected, Dd awake at 5:30. I feel like a zombie... consoling myself with custard creams... helpful!

Florencenotflo · 26/07/2019 06:10

Oh I hated DD's gro egg too @Fortheloveofscience it was handy sometimes (our old house was cold) but yes, in the summer the little fucker just used to glow red permanently. Seriously thinking about not putting it in baby's room.

IVEgottheDECAF · 26/07/2019 06:25

We have had angry looking gro egg for days too! Dc4 slept in just a nappy last night which he was confused and annoyed by. Dc3 was up around midnight just too hot.

Happy to see todays predicted high temp is 23!

kyles101 · 26/07/2019 06:58

Well that was a nice night 🙄

I can no longer get away with anything naughty I don't think... the last couple of things I've tried with an evening meal (last nights cheat was a slice of dh pizza and a 14g bag of chocolate buttons) I can just squeeze an ok reading in after the meal, but my morning readings are high - eg fasting reading this morning was 6.1... back to meat and salad it is...

On the plus side it's just started to rain 😊

Megan2018 · 26/07/2019 07:05

Literally the worst night of my life sleep wise. Had to share with DH as MIL here. We normally sleep separately as I have sleep disorder and he sleeps badly and gets up early.
I think I got less than 3 hours in short bursts. I could cry!

Hopefully tonight will be ok but MIL here until Sunday so not likely to improve much!

@IVEgottheDECAF I get pain where my ankle joins foot if I wear flat shoes like flip flops too much, its a form of tendonitis. Basically you just need to ice it and if possible alternate what you wear on feet
