Couldn't see that anyone had started another thread after we filled up the last one, so hopefully I haven't made a double...

My wee boy is moving loads as well and my dh is finally able to feel when he touches my belly. Although in saying that, most of the times when he puts his hand there the baby stops moving!!! Makes me feel bad for dh when that happens.

HeartvsHead · 17/07/2019 21:16

@Mintypea5 thanks. I have one at 29 weeks (so she will have my blood results by then) so should get it then. Need to give work 21 days notice of start of mat leave so should be ok.

This little one is super active. Feel so much more than last time. I've done a lot of googling. There is no correlation between in utero movement and how lively baby will be once out!

LittleAndOften · 17/07/2019 23:45

@Tmnmpa1 he stops moving for my DH too! Maybe it's the pressure of their hands?

I'm loving the term womb rave 😂 actually happening now as I type. Go to sleep baby!!

Mintypea5 · 18/07/2019 06:12

Woke up this morning could feel baby kicking on my side. Grabbed DH hand so he could feel it too ... as soon as his hand touches me she bloody stops. Grin

Farmmum7 · 18/07/2019 08:14

This one has gotten really active recently too it likes to hide the moment anyone tries to feel it though too! DH and DS have managed to feel it but for some reason is refuses to move for DD!!

I think I've found a pushchair I was in Smyth's yesterday and I've found a bedside crib that was on offer and the sales assistant showed me a couple of travel systems and mentioned they would have a sale in a couple of months where you could get up to €20% off of them so to wait and see if they come up cheaper then so I came away a little happier!!

I'm still undecided on nappies I'd like to try the reusable kind our bins here get weighed and you get charged on the weight so i can see the bill getting increasingly higher once the nappies start going in but I've no idea if it's worth the swap and the extra work involved ect. Has anyone used the cloth nappies before?

snowy0wl · 18/07/2019 08:35

Morning. I'm also interested in peoples' views on reusable nappies. A friend has been using them for her 9 month old and says that it can take a while to find a brand that works for you. At the moment she is trialling Little Lamb and Bambino Miosolos. She also said that www.thenappylady.co.uk gives useful advice.

LittleAndOften · 18/07/2019 08:56

@snowy0wl I hired a pack from our local reusable nappy library, it had a mix of types so you could try them out.

BUT...

I have to say, we lasted barely a week before the laundry mountain just became too much! And when you're doing that much washing, the environmental benefits kind of disappear. So not for us, but worth seeing if you have a local nappy library if you're interested, as they are expensive.

PyjamasForever · 18/07/2019 09:07

@snowyowl and @farmmum7 I'm also considering reusable nappies, we used reusable wipes with DS so it seems the next logical step. Luckily we have a nappy library nearby so I'm going to hire a newborn kit and see how I get on. I think even using cloth nappies part time would reduce the amount of waste, so that's an option too? Think I'll probably buy one pack of disposables for the first couple of days though.

Bit worried this morning. I've had a couple of painful tightenings. Hoping they'll stop if I rest for a bit, but I have so much to do.

Farmmum7 · 18/07/2019 09:19

We don't even have a book library down here that comes round on a van once month so I'm not hopeful for any other kind 😂 I've seen a few starter packs online even if it's just for at home and we use disposables when we're out to make things easier. I don't know where to start looking!!

@PyjamasForever I didn't even know reusable wipes existed are they easy enough to come by?

My hip has officially given up I've got to clean a holiday home today and then I've got orders for cakes and pastries and there's sourdough starters to get ready before a 5am start tomorrow to get all the breads made for a market I can't wait for tomorrow afternoon when I can get home and just collapse on the sofa and refuse to go out again until we have our scan Monday!!!

LittleAndOften · 18/07/2019 09:24

Last night I dreamt I was at my due date and staying at a pub/guest house with all my family and friends. Everyone kept coming in the room and giving me advice on getting labour started, including having sex (not with DH!). I was so embarrassed when I woke up 😂😳

Mintypea5 · 18/07/2019 11:23

I like the idea of reusable nappies but I just couldn't cope with the washing loads we already have enough!

I think we're set on or pram as we need a double (tandem one as side by side won't fit through our doorways) but getting DH to agree hasn't happened yet.

@PyjamasForever I'd give your midwife team / triage a call just for a chat. Braxton Hicks can be painful but irregular and tend to be al in the abdomen not going into your back. Changing activity, a paracetamol or a bath might also make them stop when it's BH

PyjamasForever · 18/07/2019 12:44

@Mintypea5 I work near maternity daycare so popped my head in. Not surprisingly all discomfort stopped when I was resting with them, so I've taken the rest of the day off. On the way back from nursery drop off one of the tightenings was so painful that I had to pull over the car... was very worrying but has completely stopped.

Mintypea5 · 18/07/2019 12:50

@PyjamasForever glad you got checked! I've never really noticed my BH in pregnancy before but this one o can tell it's happening. Feels very tight

blizzard88 · 18/07/2019 14:37

I used reusable nappies last time and plan to again this time. I find putting a nappy wash on every couple of days less hassle than constantly taking disposables out to the bin!

fabaga · 18/07/2019 15:38

I really want to use reusable nappies! There's a local nappy and sling library meetup at a cafe near me on Sunday so I'm hoping to go and learn a load more about the various nappy brands. @blizzard88 how did you work out which brand worked for you?

blizzard88 · 18/07/2019 15:59

@fabaga I got lucky that the first ones we tried worked well - bumgenius freetime - they were simple enough for nursery to use too. Then I experimented with preloved ones - there's a few Facebook groups, the Nappy Lady has one - other favourites for us were Milovia wraps and Close Pop-ins

Zarara · 18/07/2019 20:58

I would love to try disposable nappies but I fear the washing will be too much, think I’ll probably stick to disposable ones.

@PyjamasForever glad the pain has stopped fingers crossed it was just a one off.

BananasAreTheSourceOfEvil · 18/07/2019 23:12

I did cloth nappies with my first two (part time, so days in cloth and nights in disposables) but then it did get too much for me to keep on top of when number three came along. I sold my whole set which I regret now.

Theres now a nappy library where I live so Im going to look into that, but Im not going to kid myself about being able to do it from newborn- once I get the changing every five minutes out of the way Ill give it a go!

Its not too bad once you get into the swing of it, and properly using the flushable liners for poo makes life a lot easier.

This baby is also refusing to kick DP. One of his sisters he will boot away at no problem, but DP and the other two girls he just stops. He has obviously picked his favourite sibling already.

BobbySD345 · 21/07/2019 18:02

Is anyone suffering or previously suffered with sciatica or a trapped nerve? I was in absolute agony yesterday thank goodness it's a bit better today. I had to crawl to the toilet and it hurt even to breathe.
I've had an Epsom salts bath today after reading about it online but baths are crap when you can only have them at a cool temperature. I was shivering by the end !

Mintypea5 · 21/07/2019 19:45

@BobbySD345 could also be pelvic girdle pain. Can have feel very similar to sciatica! I assumed that's what mine was until the midwife said sounded more like
PGP

0lapislazuli · 22/07/2019 16:34

I have PGP and the physio has given me some tips and exercises to do. I would call the midwife and see what they say, because you can manage it to a certain extent.

I also want to try reusable nappies, for environmental reasons but also because you could save over £1000. The idea of doing more laundry puts me off, but I figured I’ll just try with the nappy library trial set and some disposable backups and just see how it goes! Will also try reusable wipes.

LittleAndOften · 22/07/2019 16:59

I texted my mw as I've been having lots of lower abdominal ligamenty-muscular pain which started with sbeezing/coughing pain but now is making walking really uncomfortable. She said I can self refer to physio or get a belt. Well I ordered a belt off amazon yesterday, it's just arrived and my goodness the difference!

Farmmum7 · 22/07/2019 18:22

Which belt did you order? I want to get one and a pillow because I think it may be pelvis related the pain but it gets worse at night and Ill try anything at this point to relieve it!!

Had our 20 week/almost 22 week scan today. Baby is on the smaller side like the last two so I'll definitely have a 32 week scan and consultant appointment just to check the growth but everything was all good otherwise and the sonographer was pretty certain it was a girl even with her legs crossed!!!!

DH's grandmother died this morning too so it's been a day of mixed emotions just counting down the hours until bedtime now I'm a little drained now!

Mintypea5 · 22/07/2019 19:07

@LittleAndOften my friend gave me her belt for my PGP and it's really helped during the day when I'm walking / on my feet ligament pain is horrible too

@Farmmum7 glad the scan went well! Sorry bout your DH grandma. We have my DH grandpas funeral on Friday

LittleAndOften · 22/07/2019 19:46

@Farmmum7 and @mintypea5 I'm sorry to hear your sad news 😢

This is the band I got. It's really comfy and breathable - so important this week! It's discreet under clothing too.
