Couldn't see that anyone had started another thread after we filled up the last one, so hopefully I haven't made a double...

@BobbySD345 I don't think so! If you're comfortable getting it go for it. I'm waiting just in case any deals come up on the one i want / have no space

RainhamRosie · 10/07/2019 19:10

@BobbySD345 we got our pram just before 20 weeks. Luckily we have somewhere to store it but I really wanted to practice attaching the carry cot and the car seat!

Farmmum7 · 10/07/2019 20:11

I'm completely unprepared! I've bought 2 packs of sleepsuits/vests and a blanket! I have nothing from the older two so I'm having to start from scratch again. I need to write a list of everything we need that way I can add to it when I remember something.

Booked my whooping cough and 20 week appointment for Monday I'm so excited to make it to half way tomorrow!!

PyjamasForever · 10/07/2019 20:23

@Farmmum7 so exciting getting to half way! I feel like everything has slowed down since then.

I bought a co-sleeper cot today because it was 10% off, and a lovely little outfit after my (incredibly painful) physio appointment.

Saw the consultant today to discuss c-section vs vbac. They've now booked me a scan and another appointment at 32 weeks when I'll hopefully have made my decision.

Mintypea5 · 10/07/2019 20:31

@Farmmum7 I was the same last year had nothing left from DS1... had resigned myself to single motherhood a year or two before Grin I didn't really buy anything until 35ish weeks because I was so nervous (difficult pregnancy) I brought most of my clothes etc after baby was here

Just been through a load of DS2 newborn -3 month clothes. Over half will be off to charity ... he was a heatwave baby last summer so most of them are little rompers and sleeved vest. An excuse to buy lots of girls stuff 🤣

I brought a grosnug today and also a Percy penguin grofriend. My DS2 has the Ollie owl and it's been wonderful part of the bedtime routine ... so hoping this little lady will take to it the same way!

HeartvsHead · 10/07/2019 21:24

@PyjamasForever is that a routine appointment? I've not been offered one... maybe it's just your area.

I've got a few essential clothes but not planning on getting much else till after the baby arrives. Team yellow so will see if we can use some of DDs stuff. Plus if it's a boy both our families will definately go crazy buying stuf as will be the first grandson.

Im 23+4. So exciting to be well over the half way mark! Even if I go the full 2 weeks late.

Mintypea5 · 10/07/2019 21:46

@HeartvsHead I expect it's because @PyjamasForever is havinga. Choice between VBAC vs C section again.

I've got growth scans at 28 & 35 weeks plus a placenta check at 34 weeks because mine is low

HeartvsHead · 10/07/2019 22:34

@Mintypea5 I just got given a bunch of leaflets and told to tell my midwife which I wanted. Different areas I guess. Really hoping for a VBAC 🤞

PyjamasForever · 11/07/2019 10:31

@HeartvsHead everyone here who has had a c-section before gets a consultant appointment and one with the specialist vbac midwife before they make a decision. Seems quite a lot of pressure to decide from just a leaflet!

@Mintypea5 I had to google grofriends, but they are so cute. We had a Ewan the dream sheep last time... it seemed to work for all my friend's babies but not mine. Maybe I'll give something like that a try again this time?

BobbySD345 · 11/07/2019 11:59

You've all persuaded me so I'll probably get the pram on Saturday 😁 It's on offer so it seems sensible to get it at a bargain price.
So this is my 1st and recently my bump has POPPED and last 3 days I have felt very pregnant. Completely aware of it and don't have those moments anymore where I'm like oh yeah I forgot I'm pregnant...!
Struggling because I didn't lose weight beforehand and so now my boobs are basically sat on my belly when I'm sat down which is causing a bruising sensation over my ribs. I know it's only going to get worse as I get bigger but any tips? I'm wearing non wired and have gone up a size so the bra isn't cutting in.
Sorry for the essay...

RainhamRosie · 11/07/2019 12:04

@BobbySD345 I understand your boob woes!

I had been merrily wearing a 36E and then I found this website and should in fact be wearing a 38FF....I can't tell you how much more comfortable I have been!

booborbust.com

I have invested in two bras from bravissimo which have underwire support as I just feel like a lump when not wearing underwire (although I love them when I'm just in the house)

Kaff83 · 11/07/2019 16:46

Oh dear you are all very organised! I can't see myself doing anything to prepare for baby until mat leave, I can barely manage to stay on top of life as it is! The 3 year old has tonsillitis which isn't helping- I spent half the night asleep on her floor two nights ago, and have been wrestling anti bs into her only for her to retch most of it back up, then i go to work and they won't even let me move a chair, lol!

BananasAreTheSourceOfEvil · 11/07/2019 22:32

@Kaff83 that sounds completely miserable you poor thing! Have you got anyone who can help or give you a rest?

We are having a little boy (still got no idea what Im going to do with a boy... I know girls... My Little Ponies and their family trees would be my mastermind specialist subject) and my DDs are over the moon. They want to be a part of everything, so its been great happiness here all round. Had a v. special day yesterday with eldest DD when the baby kicked and I felt it, and then she came over and was the first to feel her little brother kicking from the outside- 21+4.

Ive to go in and pay for the deposit on the pram and swing (DP picked the swing, its huge and does all sorts of unnecessary things, but he loves it and Im pretty convinced that hed love it if they made a man sized one for him and thats the basis for the decision). and then pay it off over the next few weeks and then we can pick it up whenever.

Im going to be getting scans at least every four weeks now, definitely every time I go to the hospital due to my previous prem babies, so thats an incentive for me to get stuff bought sooner rather than later- DD3 was 28 weeks so in my head that is my cut off point for having everything ready to go. At least with DDs 2 and 3 I had all the baby stuff... this time round it is all from scratch.

Im still on the fence with vbac vs repeat section, think I might ask in a separate thread about it, because my hospital is not supportive and it would be good to hear experiences about it.

@PyjamasForever and @HeartvsHead which number baby or c section is this for you?

PyjamasForever · 12/07/2019 16:12

@Bananasarethesourceofevil second baby for me, first was an emergency section. I know my trust do support vba2c's for women who otherwise are well but have had 2 sections, have you already had more than one section? I think I'm a bit unusual, because of work I have seen a lot of traumatic deliveries and poor outcomes (which I realise is actually pretty rare and lots of people have lovely safe and wonderful vbacs), so I'm very very very nervous about the idea of a vbac and think I will go for an elective section. I do feel like a bit of a failure for not wanting to try and that last time my stupid body couldn't even manage to have a baby properly.

OP posts:
BananasAreTheSourceOfEvil · 12/07/2019 17:47

@PyjamasForever not at all! whats most important is that you have a birth where youre calm and happy with the way things are going, positive birth experience is more important than how IMO- I know its unpredictable at the best of times, so can definitely see the appeal of an elective section.

Ive had two sections in the hospital Ill be delivering at (no choice, plus this is the nearest one with a NICU to me) and theyve messed up with both of them. My first delivery was vaginal, two hours into week 37.

My experience of c sections hasnt been positive (hospital's fault) and I really cannot see myself getting to 39 weeks which is when theyll do the section electively- Ive made it to 36+6, 32 and 28 so this is highly unlikely to be the lovely fluffy date agreed in advance that im being told it will be.

I have to speak to the consultant as it appears to be a blanket hospital policy that two sections means no vbac- my consultant is the only one who will consider vbac after two sections so I really want to discuss my delivery based on my personal obstetric history rather than just hospital policy.

PyjamasForever · 12/07/2019 18:03

@BananasAreTheSourceOfEvil hopefully they'll be open to a bit of discussion. I just had a quick google of the national guidelines and it's says that it can be considered by a senior obstetrician in the right circumstances when the risk etc has been discussed with the mother (www.rcog.org.uk/globalassets/documents/guidelines/gtg_45.pdf), so hopefully you'll get to have that conversation. Having an emergency section was not fun, and I think I'd go for a vbac over that.

BobbySD345 · 13/07/2019 08:11

@BananasAreTheSourceOfEvil Having DS3 at 28 weeks must have been a shock. I won't be ready in 2 weeks time !! I've got to see the consultant next week and I don't know what he's going to suggest but I may have to have a section because when I had my first MC I lost too much blood. I have no previous horror stories of natural birth or section so I will be going in blind whatever happens 😬

BobbySD345 · 13/07/2019 08:12

*6 weeks time I should say. I'm only 22 weeks currently.

HeartvsHead · 13/07/2019 18:24

@BananasAreTheSourceOfEvil this is my second. First was technically an elective c-section but they only picked up she was breach on my due date so very last minute!

@PajamasForever that's really good you get the chance to properly talk it through with someone.

I can see the benefits of both.

Dispite the stress of it being a bit last minute (and then sitting in hospital for 3 days with no food being bumped continuously), my actual c-section went smootly. The first two weeks were tough (as I'm sure they are for a lot of vaginal births anyway) but I have no on going issues from it and recovered quite quickly. That said there are no guarantees whichever route you take so....

BananasAreTheSourceOfEvil · 13/07/2019 23:30

@PyjamasForever thankyou for that! there was some really interesting stuff in that esp the parts about planned vbac preterm uterine rupture rates. Ill be reading that again before I see consultant.

Im pragmatic and know that the most important thing is that the baby is delivered safely, that may well mean c-section... third time's a charm, right?! Grin

PyjamasForever · 14/07/2019 07:17

@BananasAreTheSourceOfEvil I think that's a really pragmatic way to look at it. First time round my birth plan was just for us both to get out alive and as unscathed as possible, but you are allowed to want a nice experience too. I think the worst bit last time was the 36hrs I spent on the postnatal ward, it was like sleep deprivation torture!!! This time I am going to try to escape as soon as possible!!

Hello all, due 26 November with my very special IVF rainbow baby. I’m 42 and FTM. Had my 20 week scan Tues just gone and we’re having a boy 🌈💙

With regards to booking appointments, I have to book all my appointments myself, it’s on me to remember and organise. After each appointment I book the next with reception, then I won’t forget.

I’ve got to go for a rescan soon as they couldn’t see baby’s heart properly first time and they said not to book anything else in until that scan had been done. I think my next appointment is with my doctor which I assume I have to book myself, if I can get through that is!

Mintypea5 · 14/07/2019 09:49

@PyjamasForever postnatal wards are the worst. I was in for a week with DS1 and it was torture. I have strepB so will have to stay in at least 24 for monitoring but otherwise I'm getting out of there ASAP. Our hospital now let dads stay (which personally I'm in favour of I found it so hard to cope with DS1 outside visiting hours alone) with DS2 we had a much easier time but as we now have 2 kids I'm not sure DH will stay this time. Guess it depends if our parents don't mind having the other two to stay for a day or two

@Colyflower welcome! I had to have re scans with DS1 because he was being a scamp & they couldn't see the heart. Just had my rescan with this baby because they couldn't see the spine! Luckily all down and good. They said 98% sure it's a girl 🥰

July is such a busy month for me appointment wise! Got my consultant appointment next week then midwife next day and GTT
The week after

Kaff83 · 14/07/2019 16:49

@pyjamasforever - I was like that second time round, desperate to get home and out of the hospital as soon as possible! I was home six hours after the birth. This time I'm hoping to stay in for a night as I figure one baby will be better than one baby plus two kids at home, lol! I am hopeful that I will get my own room as apparently there are quite a lot of private rooms at the hospital I'm due to give birth at but we will see. I'll be sending my partner home to take care of the bigger two I think, as even if we manage to get relatives up, they don't have the kids often at all, so I'm anticipating the least stressful thing all round will be if he is at home with them. Now I've said all this I'll probably end up with an emergency C-section and a massive infection that keeps me stuck in hospital and bed bound, desperate for my partner to be there and to get home!!! It's all so unpredictable.

Haven't even started to think about options for who will be on call to have the older two when I go into labour, found that very stressful last time as our parents aren't that nearby.

I'm glad I'm following this thread as it keeps reminding me I need to book appointments in!! I was merrily forgetting about my whooping cough and then needing to book in my next midwife appointment after the scan (28 weeks for me).

Hi All, our LG is due Nov 2nd and omg I’m huge, like ‘ermergherd is that TWINS’ huge. No. No it’s not, I’m just a whale 😑 and tonight heartburn has hit me like a ton of bricks 😭 guess my first pregnancy was straight forward so this ones decided to live it up!
