Couldn't see that anyone had started another thread after we filled up the last one, so hopefully I haven't made a double...

Not long to go now! I am absolutely shattered wondering if I can physically do 4 more weeks at work but so desperate to as I don't want to waste any time off. How is everyone else?

Mintypea5 · 26/09/2019 11:10

@Sleepyquest I feel the same! The idea of 4 more weeks just seems too much. I'm lucky I can wfh for 2 weeks of it as my boss is overseas but my brain just can't keep up. I feel like I'm letting myself and my boss down because I'm just not on the ball

Went to DAU today for my extra checks after last weeks concerns. Not got a urine infection but my urine test today also came back with elevated levels of various things. Midwife said it's likely linked to my thrush issue which has come back again! Ffs

Rotorua · 26/09/2019 11:28

@Sleepyquest The same here :( I have my vacation starting from 7th October, but with pelvic pain and nausea every morning it feels like ages away still.

Sleepyquest · 26/09/2019 18:09

@Rotorua you just have to last another 10 days! And only 6 of them are work days, you Can do it!

Sorry to hear that @Mintypea5 can they do much for you? WFH sounds good, I can a bit but feel so guilty about it as I don't work as hard as I do when I'm in the office if I'm being honest!

BobbySD345 · 28/09/2019 08:26

Just come on here for a catch up after another sleepless night.
I know it sounds terrible but its quite comforting to hear you are all uncomfortable and having issues too. I sometimes feel like I'm being a real negative Nelly about everything.
My right hip is killing me every night and the heartburn...oh my goodness! Feel like I'm downing half a bottle of gaviscon each night.
I also have a really sore tummy constantly, mainly just aches and pains. I am on Metformin for GD despite being really careful on the diet they gave me. I had two fasting readings at 5.6 (0.1 over what they should be...☹) and I wonder if the tablets are making my belly swollen and sore.

We had a growth scan on Monday at 31+ 6 and he is 4lb12oz ! They say that's fine, 90th centile, whatever that means, but it sounds big to me ! Belly and head in proportion. I go back in 4 weeks which seems a long time.

As a FTM I have been going to antenatal classes and I am now petrified of the actual birth. Think I
would have been better not knowing...

Has anyone packed their hospital bag yet? I started doing babies bag, messaged my friend who said "yeah...great...but put in double the nappies and double the baby clothes...!!" 😂😂😂

I finish work on 18th Oct but I am super tempted to bring that forward to 11th as I am struggling to cope because my job is quite active.

PyjamasForever · 29/09/2019 14:48

@BobbySD345 GD sucks. Currently managing on diet, but I'm really having to avoid any carbs so I'm always starving. My husband ate a huge slice of chocolate cake when we were out earlier and I almost had a meltdown in the shop. He suggested I have a piece of fruit and I almost threw it at him, even an apple is too carby for me!!

I'm currently staring at an empty bag thinking about packing it (baby has been packed for weeks). I'm already 33+3 so I need to get a bit of a move on. I can't decide how many pair of giant pants to take. I've unearthed the ones I used last time, but I'm fatter now, so I'm not sure they're as giant as they need to be.

BobbySD345 · 29/09/2019 22:45

@PyjamasForever I feel your pain. Hubby just devoured an entire Terry's choc orange infront of me !! I did try with the diet only but he wasnt happy with a couple of readings. It's a shame because I'm sure the Metformin is making things worse with the bloating and feeling sick all the time!

Babies bag is so much easier to pack isnt it 😂 I'm also not sure how many Bridget Jones' to pack ! I'm also concerned about looking like I'm moving in with the amount of stuff we need to take. The dressing gown takes up half the bag doesnt it !

PyjamasForever · 29/09/2019 23:06

@BobbySD345 annoying thing about GD is you can do everything right with the diet and still end up on metformin or insulin! Feels quite demoralising. Hopefully your tummy will get used to it. It's good that your doctor is taking it so seriously though, I've yet to see a consultant and the midwives are incredibly chilled about the fact my sugar levels are still not quite perfect and I feel like I'm starving myself to get to this point.

I was stuffing my dressing gown in a bag today thinking that. The worst thing is that I've worked on the same postnatal ward I'll be staying on before, and I know it's usually scorching hot... but I still can't stop myself packing the dressing gown.

Tomorrow is the start of my penultimate week at work!! I cannot wait until maternity leave.

BobbySD345 · 30/09/2019 11:56

@PyjamasForever can I ask what you have got brekkie if you aren't having any carbs? We had no bread in this morning for toast and I ended up just having a mullerlight yoghurt which was not filling enough ! I can't have porridge or any kind of cereal because it sends my readings high.

I did think it's always boiling on the ward but I like the idea of a snuggly dressing gown. I might end up wearing it when I go in just to save space haha.

PyjamasForever · 30/09/2019 13:19

@BobbySD345 a couple of spoons of plain full fat Greek yoghurt with a handful of cashew nuts. I guess technically it's not carb free because lactose in the yoghurt is a sugar, but it's certainly no refined carbs. It's terribly boring and I'm still hungry after it. I'm usually a big bowl of cereal or couple of slices of toast person. Apparently some people cope better with carbs when paired with lots of fat and protein to slow the release down. Have you seen the gestational diabetes UK website? I've found that helpful. Literally counting down the days until my big bowl of cereal after having this baby!!

@pyjamasforever how terribly boring and unsatisfying. I would be starving and then I go all faint ! What do you snack on? I chanced an orange today as I have practically had to cut fruit out completely. It was so refreshing 😋
Are you still at work? I'm lacking in energy so I bet you are really struggling ☹

ruralcat · 30/09/2019 20:19

Hi everyone, hope it's okay if I join in, I'v been watching the threads since early pregnancy. I'm due on 1st November with our third!

LittleAndOften · 30/09/2019 22:40

@PyjamasForever @BobbySD345 sorry to hear about your GD it sounds rough. I've been having funny wobbles after meals so reduced my carbs which seems to help. I had bacon medallions and scrambled eggs for breakfast today! Are eggs low enough in carbs for you?

I've just been packing my hospital bag. Tomorrow I'll do baby's. It's getting real now. Still struggling to walk which is depressing but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now.

PyjamasForever · 01/10/2019 06:33

Welcome to the group @ruralcat.

@Littleandoften strangely eggs are the only thing I don't like eating and haven't since I was a child. They look so delicious but they're just not for me. It's a shame because I bet they'd make w perfect breakfast.

We're all due to have our babies next month! Doesn't that sound strange? Less than a fortnight left at work for me too! Yay!!

I can’t wait for November now! I’ve been having Braxton Hicks and my bump is very uncomfortable. Baby was breech but I think it may have turned (fingers crossed) as I had the most uncomfortably movements for around 2 hours last night and now my bump feels harder and much lower. We have a 36week scan here so will find out next week what position baby is in. I finish work at the end of next week and can’t wait, I’m really struggling now with just walking to work and being sat at my desk with back and hip pain. Hoping to pack my hospital bag today/tomorrow I’m 35 weeks tomorrow eek!

dottydally · 01/10/2019 07:19

Also joining the countdown club! I finish 3 weeks yesterday at 36+2. I feel a bit overwhelmed by the work I need to get done before I finish but I'm reminding myself I can only do what I can do. Im avoiding late nights as it's just not worth it!

My sympathies to all with GD. My diet is pretty exclusively carbs and fruit (with some chocolate) so I'd be starving. At least there's not long to go now!

@Mintypea5 I love the thought that our babies are due next month. It does remind me of how much I haven't done yet - we need more clothes, I need to buy (and pack) hospital bags and there are 5000 jobs to do around the house.

I'm also finding myself getting nervous about labour. I'm trying to avoid people's horror stories but the fear is creeping up on me. I need to write my birth plan to discuss with the midwife so hopefully that will put me at ease. We are also doing a tour of the hospital which will either help or send me into a blind panicBlush

Mintypea5 · 01/10/2019 09:41

Chiropractor for me today! Hoping this will help with my sciatic pain. I'm in tears most nights from it, pgp and heartburn

Cannot believe it's October! Only 6ish weeks left to go for me ... the end is in sight! Unless she's late 🤦🏻‍♀️

The person I recommended for my maternity cover was accepted yesterday by my boss so I'm delighted! It's a really good thing for her career wise to get the chance to cover my job and means now i can relax knowing if I need to go early they have someone in line to come do my job!

Hope everyone's well

BobbySD345 · 01/10/2019 13:47

@Mintypea5 I was in hospital last week chatting to someone who had been signed off with PGP. If you are struggling could you go sick or does it jump start your maternity leave early? Sorry to hear you are struggling Flowers

Mintypea5 · 01/10/2019 14:13

@BobbySD345 I think that's my final option. I've been trying to avoid it because they didn't have cover for me and I felt guilty because I only came back in April from maternity. Chiropractor seems to have done some good but aware it's only temporary so see what happens

How is everyone doing? @Mintypea5 how is the PGP? I finished work last Friday. Was due to finish this Friday 18th but I've not been feeling well at all. I could have gone sick and been paid in full which I am regretting not doing but nevermind. Lazy days are helping...I definitely feel more relaxed Zzzz

Kaff83 · 15/10/2019 12:02

@bobbysd345 I finished last week too! The kids are in school / nursery today so have finally got some of the baby stuff out and started washing it. Trying to get the balance right between being productive and relaxing - I think a nap will definitely be in order later, but first off to the high street for some errands!

PyjamasForever · 15/10/2019 12:21

I finished on Wednesday. I've had such a relaxing day today. Dropped the toddler at nursery, had a 2hr nap, nice leisurely lunch at home and now popping out to meet a friend for coffee. I feel so much better now I'm not struggling around at work.

Hi ladies, I joined a few months back but haven't been on here for a while. I'm 34+1 and I really need to get on with packing bags and writing my birth plan! I'm on holiday from work atm as I had a few weeks to take, start mat leave and of the month and due 25th November. I'm still really excited but definitely nervous about the birth now. He's been head down for weeks but must have dropped recently, I'm getting quite bad pains around my pelvis low down . Hope he doesn't get too much heavier Grin

PyjamasForever · 15/10/2019 19:49

@firsttimemum30 I also find it impossible to believe that this baby is still growing bigger and has 3 weeks of growth left before she comes out. She's already bigger than a fair few of my friend's babies. Eek!!
