Couldn't see that anyone had started another thread after we filled up the last one, so hopefully I haven't made a double...

I also chose to use sleepyhead last time, despite lullaby trust warning of an increased risk of SIDS. I said I would never ever do it (and work in a job where I have fairly frequent exposure to families following loss of an infant from SIDS)... but one day I fell asleep holding him and he slipped under the duvet, so after that fright I decided the risk from a sleeping nest was lower than me accidentally dropping him under the duvet.

Not sure what I'll do this time. I think we'll try the first few days without and then make a decision. The difficulty is there is no ethical way for all of these nests to be tested at a large population level. We can assume that as we know overheating and rebreathing co2 are bad that anything in a cot that a baby can press their face against is bad... but actually we don't have concrete evidence either way.

It's so hard to feel like you are making the right decision as a parent sometimes.

@Mintypea5 @PyjamasForever thanks for sharing your experiences. Completely understand that you made informed decisions on what worked for you.
There’s just so much to consider isn’t there? Feels quite overwhelming!

Hayesdays · 06/09/2019 10:00

I've been looking at them too @Unsureursula My friend had her baby 3 weeks ago and uses a Sleepyhead in the day as he won't settle very well in the moses basket in the day, but is happy to sleep in it at night!

I think I'm going to wait and see what my baby likes first before making a purchase (as they're not cheap!). I already have a moses basket and cot, you never know she might be an angel and sleep wherever! (wishful thinking maybe!)

Unsureursula · 06/09/2019 10:23

@Hayesdays yes expensive for sure! We haven’t actually bought a cot yet, but planning to in next few weeks so I think we’ll do the same- see how baby goes and if they really don’t like it we’ll look at a sleepyhead or similar! Just bought the car seat- went for a Joie 360 one as it lasts up to 4 years. For anyone who’s interested the ‘ember’ coloured one has 15% off on JL.com atm- I’ll take any saving I can get at this expensive time!!

Hayesdays · 06/09/2019 10:35

@Unsureursula we got our cot off Facebook Marketplace, it's a lovely Mama's & Papa's one which is immaculate and was less than half the price it is in the shop at the moment. Will obviously get a new mattress for it. Not sure if you're on Facebook but maybe worth a look. There's loads of stuff on there that will help stretch the pennies further - some of it is brand new too! Also, I've got the Bounty app which has lots of great discounts on there too...maybe worth a look too :)

Mintypea5 · 06/09/2019 12:09

@Unsureursula we have the Joie 360 for our 14 month old it's great. We still have our infant carrier for this baby but when big enough I think we'll be getting another 360

Horrific pain in legs and hips today (it's been building all week) sat at my desk trying not to cry. It's so frustrating and on top of that all my carefully planned schedule for my boss next week has been blown out the water by a higher power so having to scrabble to get it all rearranged and reorganised not what I need On a Friday afternoon let alone one where my body just wants to give up

Unsureursula · 06/09/2019 12:16

Thanks @Hayesdays I’m not on FB but OH is so I’ll get him to have a look!
@Mintypea5 ah that’s great to hear- we were impressed by it in store but didn’t know anyone who had actually used it! So sorry to hear you’re in pain- you poor thing. Is there any way you can work from home at all? I feel so much better since I’ve reduced my office days- it means I can move around as much as I like and wear comfy clothes!

Kaff83 · 06/09/2019 23:07

@Unsureursula we also have the joie 360 for my eldest who is dinky and still fits into it having just turned 5! I love it.

@Mintypea5 feel you on the school run pain - first day I just had my eldest and we were early and ambled in slowly and it was fine. Today we were much later and rushing trying to push my daughter up the hill in the pushchair while coaxing my son to hurry up and stop moaning gave my such bad pains in my tummy and back. Think I'm going to have to risk getting my daughter to walk too - she's three today so should be able to but if she decides to have a meltdown half way there, I've no idea what I can do. I definitely can't carry her the two thirds of a mile to school!

LittleAndOften · 10/09/2019 12:49

Hi everyone hope you are doing well. I've just been to the osteopath for my spd and now have a gel ice pack clamped between my legs. It's very cold! She said I have massive inflammation at the pubic symphysis where the pubic bones meet. She did some trigger point therapy for my hip flexors (ouch) and lower back. I've also got some exercises to do. So let's hope it all helps!

I feel like time is running away with me now. Anyone else?

Unsureursula · 10/09/2019 13:20

@Kaff83 oh that’s great to hear, ours is actually due to arrive any minute- another thing to store lol!
Anyone else still finding it really hard to track movement? Yesterday and today have been quiet so thinking about going into the hospital to get checked. Keep debating as to whether I should go

dottydally · 10/09/2019 13:30

@Unsureursula I'm a bit like you. We have movement but it's a lot less than normal so I've called and am going up in a little while. They weren't in a massive hurry to see me as I saw my MW this morning but my MW was the one that said to call them. Hoping they're nice when I get there.

I feel like a bit of a nuisance as I was in a few weeks ago but they just used a Doppler then as I was

Unsureursula · 10/09/2019 15:56

@dottydally best of luck, let me know how it goes. I’m just here now waiting to be seen

Mintypea5 · 10/09/2019 15:57

@Unsureursula and@dottydally hope everything is ok ladies xx

PyjamasForever · 10/09/2019 17:10

Good luck @unsureursula and @dottydally. Please don't feel bad about going in repeatedly... it's the best thing to do if you have reduced movements. Everyone would rather see lots of worried well mums and babies rather than people who have waited too long.

I can't decide if time is going quickly or slowly at the moment. I only have 12 shifts left at work but it also feels like I still have forever to go.

Hope you are all reassured by the hospital. It's so stressful!

dottydally · 10/09/2019 18:59

Hope it went well @Unsureursula!

All fine here, an hour or so on the monitor and then had a scan too. Baby estimated at 3lb 9oz Smile they checked the placenta, cord and fluid levels too so all very thorough. Baby having a party now, obviously!!

Unsureursula · 13/09/2019 18:28

@dottydally great to hear!!
Thanks all for the good wishes- much appreciated!
I was glad I went to get checked, baby’s heart rate was fine but the midwife said I looked small and she measured me (my own midwife measured me last week and said I hadn’t grown but wasn’t concerned). Anyway I’m glad the midwife at the hospital measured me as I was small and she referred me for a growth scan. Unfortunately baby is a little bit behind overall but particularly in the stomach. Has anyone else had this? Trying not to worry too much bit can help it

PyjamasForever · 13/09/2019 20:43

@Unsureursula at the midwife on Thursday I was told I hadn't grown for 3 weeks, so I'm waiting for an urgent growth scan on Wednesday. Really nervous. What is your plan going onwards? Will they do more scans to keep an eye on things?

OP posts:
Unsureursula · 13/09/2019 21:43

@PyjamasForever sorry to hear that, perhaps it’s more common then we realise?
So I’ve another one booked for 36 weeks. I’m a little anxious though as 4 weeks seems a long time to wait to see how things are. Initially the sonographer was going to send me into the assessment unit but then went off to get a second opinion and then said to just wait for 4 weeks. It’s so hard to know what to do or think isn’t it! Best of luck for Wednesday!

Zarara · 14/09/2019 06:55

@Unsureursula @PyjamasForever so sorry you’re going through the stress of growth scans. Hopefully it’s all precautionary.

How is everyone else doing with baby prep and winding down from work?

I have 4 weeks left at work so can’t wait to finish now as I’m finding it quite uncomfortable just sitting at my desk all day. I’ve also washed all of the baby stuff just need to get the old snuzpod and pram out the lift for a clean. I’m also going to start prepping my hospital bag in the next week or so. I’m 32 weeks and feel it’s a bit of a limbo time before baby arrives.

dottydally · 14/09/2019 08:14

@Unsureursula @PyjamasForever good luck for the growth scans! It's good that they do keep an eye on things though. I'm sure everything will be fine.

@Zarara I'm limping through the next 5 weeks. I feel a bit done with work but I'm trying to push on so I don't leave other people with a crappy deal! I'm trying to tell myself that it's only really a few weeks of work as my last couple of weeks will be handovers and those things. I'm struggling with back/rib pain one side where baby's feet are which is 100x worse when I sit up straight Sad

Everyone packing their hospital bags is making me nervous. I wasn't going to do mine until I started maternity leave at 36 weeks Blush

Mintypea5 · 14/09/2019 08:30

@Unsureursula @PyjamasForever hope the growth scans go well. I have regular ones so don't have the bump measurement this pregnancy (which I'm glad of it seems to be really inaccurate for so many)

5 and a bit weeks left for me at work. Not really sure how I'm going to survive my PGP and sciatica pain are at an all time high but we'll see

Not packed my bag yet @dottydally either. I'm relying on the thought that if I need stuff in a rush DH knows exactly what to pack and bring me after last time.

Realised apart from
Purchasing cute clothes we've not done much to prepare for this baby. Should talk to my sil about getting our next2me back soon ... think that's all we need really ... got the double pushchair and new set of bottles for this one

PyjamasForever · 14/09/2019 08:57

I have 4 weeks of work left (only 12 days actually in work!). I've packed a hospital bag for baby but not for me... which is actually insane because if I needed to be admitted now baby would have to go to sbcu so wouldn't need any stuff but I would need my pyjamas and giant pants. I'll pack my bag at the end of the month after DH has done an overnight trip for work.

I need stuff like a couple of button up nighties, slippers, dressing down etc. I also need to dig out some stuff to wear home. Last time I wore mat clothes for a month or so after having the baby and then still had bigger clothes for ages, but all my maternity clothes are summery and I'm guessing it's going to be cold in November!! I also couldn't get my shoes on for a week after having my last baby, so I either need giant shoes or some kind of warm slipper I can get away with wearing outside. I'll have very cold feet if I borrow DHs flip flops again!!

I still also need to buy a change bag and some more reusable nappies. We also have so many little jobs around the house, like painting the bathroom to do!!

Good morning everyone Smile

Just wanted to ask if anyone's nausea has made a reappearance at this stage?

I'm 32+2 today and feeling like the proper morning sickeness is back :( Have been having it for a couple of days now, but just thought it might be nerves as I had a lot going on last weekend, but unfortunately the stress is gone, but looks like the sickness is staying :(

Mintypea5 · 16/09/2019 08:10

@Rotorua according to google it can come back in the 3rd trimester! I've had a sickness bug all weekend so have been googling stuff ... I don't think mines morning sickness related tho because I didn't have any.
