Couldn't see that anyone had started another thread after we filled up the last one, so hopefully I haven't made a double...

@fabaga I never knew that, my mat leave starts on a Friday.. does that mean I lose a week? Would I still be able to finish my mat leave on 1st Nov 2020?

fabaga · 31/08/2019 20:08

@Zarara no, I think officially the government counts a week Sun-Sun, so your first week would just be two days (Fri and Sat) and then the end of your 52 weeks of leave would be Sun Oct 25th 2020! It's very much buried in the government advice and to be honest my HR weren't even aware, also given you don't get any statutory pay by that point if your employer agrees to an end date for your leave of 1st Nov 2020 then that's fine, but your statutory right to mat leave would end on 25th Oct.

I also don't know what it means in terms of employer top up pay, as your employer will likely use the government method to determine how many weeks pay you're entitled to/had, but again maybe best to check with them how the pay is calculated to make sure you don't lose out.

fabaga · 31/08/2019 20:23

@Zarara @KJ1988 actually ignore me! I'm talking rubbish. I just double checked and you won't miss out on any pay... Confused sorry! I'm blaming baby brain!

Leave I'm not sure about as I can't find the guidance...

Thanks all!

@Kaff83 I’m feeling good at the moment so am definitely hopeful I can go the distance 🤞🏼 I’m going to see how I go. Work are pretty good and I can always use my annual leave.

How are you all feeling at the moment? X

PyjamasForever · 31/08/2019 21:28

I'm feeling terrible, no idea how I'll make it through another 10.5 weeks. Started being sick again for the last few days and my hips are so sore that I'm walking slower than a snail. I feel breathless when I lie down but uncomfortable when I sit up. Trying not to moan to much to people around me because I realise how lucky I am to be having another baby, but it's such hard work this time.

Calling all mamas who have been through pregnancy with GD ! One of my friends today mentioned she didnt think the Consultant would let me go full term with GD and I would most likely be induced a couple of weeks early? I will no doubt find out next week but I'm impatient and wondered if anyone had any experience of this? I would want to leave work earlier if this is the case x

KJ1988 · 31/08/2019 23:57

Sorry to hear you’re feeling so rubbish @PyjamasForever! 😩
Hope things ease up for you during the next few weeks. 10 weeks is nothing, but I am sure it feels much longer when you don’t feel good x

Mintypea5 · 01/09/2019 00:45

@BobbySD345 they do tend to induced you early with GD yes. You should see the consultant soon who will let you now but if you let work know how it's a possibility especially if you weren't planning to start maternity before 37 weeks it's a good idea.

Zarara · 01/09/2019 06:45

@fabaga thanks for that, it’s all so complicated!

@PyjamasForever bless you hope it improves. I’ve been suffering with breathlessness, which in turn makes me really anxious. I’m hoping the last weeks race by. We’re in September now so not long to go!

LittleAndOften · 01/09/2019 08:34

Morning all, how are you all getting on? I'm really struggling with (what I assume is) ligament pain. Walking or sitting for extended periods makes it worse. I've got group physio on 27th but that seems so far away! The worst pain is concentrated in the crotch area, I walked quite a bit yesterday (we're on holiday) and was in pain all night. I have a support belt but the constant pain is getting me down 😩

Farmmum7 · 01/09/2019 11:02

@PyjamasForever I hope the sickness is a very short lived thing.

last night I dreamt I was having contractions but I woke up and I think I had an awful pain at the bottom of my bump I felt quite sick I got up to pee and have some water but I couldn't work out if it was pain or if I was still half dreaming when I woke up. I was slightly terrified I think it was just the position I was in that didn't agree with the bump I don't know what position the little darling is in but its not one that makes me very comfortable!

I went swimming Friday while the kids had lessons...best night's sleep with my hip I've had in soo long I got up in the night to pee and I didn't have to hold onto anything to get across the bedroom!!

BobbySD345 · 01/09/2019 11:08

Thank you @Mintypea5

Sorry to hear many of you are suffering with sickness and discomfort. We can do this !! Not long to go Flowers

Kaff83 · 01/09/2019 14:15

@pyjamasforever same over here. 10 weeks feels like forever. Bottom of my bump is so achey /crampy whenever I walk anywhere, back aches at night so much it wakes me up, walking super slowly already, feeling sick again, also struggling with my bowels in both directions! Agh! I really used to wonder why people hated being pregnant as I found it find the first two times but this time I'm desperate to get the baby out early!!

yorkshirepudz · 02/09/2019 21:13

Hi all, I know I'm late but would love to join this thread and share this experience with you lovely ladies! I'm due 25th November, second baby and having a little girl 💖Hope you're all well, going to read through to catch up now!! SmileThanks

KJ1988 · 03/09/2019 13:30

Congratulations @yorkshirepudz, and welcome! How are you feeling?
I'm due on the 19th with Baby #1 - we don't know whether Baby is a Boy or a Girl, but starting to get very excited!

Mintypea5 · 03/09/2019 14:46

@yorkshirepudz welcome! I'm having a girl too (due 14th but I was overdue with DS1 so thinking she'll be late too!)

I'm sooooo tired today and just all round fed up! Is it bed time yet?! My sleep deprivation is feeling my anxiety

yorkshirepudz · 03/09/2019 20:53

I'm feeling rubbish at the moment. The whole family is full of cold, and I think I may have something like sciatica as I keep getting awful shooting pains down the back of my left thigh and calf. Doesn't mix well with a cold, I'm already achy as it is!Sad

Got to say I'm also very lucky, first illness and pregnancy related problem I've had this whole pregnancy, literally had no symptoms the whole way through! I was adamant I was having another boy because I was the exact same with him!

Thank you @KJ1988 , congratulations to you too! I can't believe people manage to go the whole way through without finding out, I'm way too impatient! Will be a lovely surprise though,do you have a gut feeling what you might be having?

@Mintypea5 I was overdue 3 days with DS.
I have a feeling I'll go over too! I am so sleep deprived at the moment, I'm absolutely shattered now but just can't get comfy! Doesn't help I can't breathe through my nose, feel like a zombie!

Leleophants · 04/09/2019 04:02

Due the first, really looking forward to baby arriving now! Had so many issues with work I am tempted to throw in the towel, but also don't want to lose my pay and go on maternity leave too early. Anyone else been having issues?

Mintypea5 · 04/09/2019 06:58

@Leleophants how many weeks are you? Not so much this pregnancy but last one was awful with work. My boss was a class A prick who either ignored me or picked on me . Literally as soon as I said I was pregnant it was a like a switch flipped and I wasn't worthy of my job. Horrible man. I ended up having a month off for stress around 20 weeks (we also had my FIL die plus both my grandparents in less than a month) and then finishing at 35 weeks because I just couldn't bare being in worth anymore.

I had a really difficult pregnancy (lots of issues with movements and I was bleeding every week pretty much so Had to be checked every time) so the nastiness at work as well was just too much.

Leleophants · 04/09/2019 09:22

Oh no @MintyPea5 :( did you get HR or anyone else involved?

Mintypea5 · 04/09/2019 09:44

@Leleophants nope it's fine tho. The old got retired (I extended my maternity leave to avoid him) and I've ended up with a much nicer boss who is really kind and understanding.

First day back at school for my eldest! Was totally proud of myself for how organised I was getting him and his 14 month old brother dressed, breakfast and ready to go! Yet somehow we were still in a rush and the walking fast didn't help my pgp and triggered some rather uncomfortable braxton hicks 😩

Unsureursula · 04/09/2019 15:42

Welcome @yorkshirepudz!

Oh sorry to hear those horrible work experiences! As if pregnancy isn’t demanding enough!

@Mintypea5 still sounds like a major success but as a fellow pgp sufferer I know how awful rushing can be!

I’ve just started hydrotherapy for pgp and back pain, seems to have helped a little and My doc has increased the number of days I work from home so that’s good!

I made a list at lunchtime of all we’ve left to get- basically everything minus the pram and I’m feeling a little overwhelmed at the volume and the cost!! Also has anyone used a sleepyhead or a similar (cheaper!) version? It’s been recommended to me but seems like a lot of money- I mean I know sleep is priceless but hard to justify cost if I don’t even know it will work! Also where are we going to store all this stuff Confused

PrayingandHoping · 04/09/2019 17:11

@Unsureursula have a look at the lullaby trust. They released a statement even yesterday to say that sleeping pods of all kinds are a SIDS risk. I won't be using one

I'm 31 weeks tomorrow. Due to baby being small I have had constant appointments since 20 weeks but my consultant felt sorry for me and as baby is growing on her curve has pushed out to 3 weeks and now that feels a long time 😂 but next scan next week. Being induced at 37/38 weeks which is now only next month so feels very soon!!!

Unsureursula · 04/09/2019 18:48

@PrayingandHoping oh thank you- I’ll look now. As a FTM I’m being overwhelmed with information and trying to make good decisions.

Hope you’re doing ok, glad your consultant is on top of things! I’m 31 weeks today so we’re v Close! Crazy, but v exciting to think you’ll have a baby v soon!!

Mintypea5 · 04/09/2019 20:57

@Unsureursula we have a purflo nest (cheaper than a sleepyhead) it was a godsend with DS2 otherwise he's only sleep on me. They're not recommended by the lullaby trust but after a lot of reading up and weighing up the dangers of me falling asleep through pure sleep deprivation with DS2 in me I decided to use one.

DS2 fitted in it with lots of space around him so his head wasn't too close to the edges (overhearing) and his face nowhere near the sides (also he was swaddled) once he could move around (roll etc) we took him
Out of it.
