Couldn't see that anyone had started another thread after we filled up the last one, so hopefully I haven't made a double...

I'm a bit weird and normally stock up on Christmas presents (especially stocking bits) from the January sales so I actually feel pretty disorganised to be only starting it now!

@mintypea5 I gave so much away last time so I need a bouncer, stretchy wrap, new baby monitor, grosnugs, starwrap (probably stretching this calling it a "need"), breast pads, wet bags for nappies and wipes when out and about, crib sheets and maybe a new change bag too Confused

@PyjamasForever that was me last year. We do need a new bouncer actually as sil lent us hers for DS2...

I'm usually quite organised with Xmas start buying around now to spread the cost ...
We have our two DC (3 by Xmas!!! Eeekkk) plus 4 nieces and nephews.

Zarara · 27/07/2019 11:24

Ooo I hadn’t thought about starting Christmas shopping but that’s a good idea. Just need to start somewhere. I always find planning that far in advance difficult. How do you do it? Do you just pick up things when you see them or do you buy specific things for people.

I’ve had a proper clear out of the spare room so baby has somewhere to put their clothes and I can set up a changing station. I’ve also hit eBay hard and have bought lots of second hand outfits and clothes for baby. We’re having a girl so have gone through all my sons stuff and kept all the things that can be passed down and ebayed the rest. I find that most things work but boys trousers seem to be cut differently. I plan on breastfeeding again but would like to get some new bottles etc so I have the option of expressing. I’ve heard people raving about a hakka so I’ve just bought one of those.

Tmnmpa1 · 27/07/2019 11:24

You all seem so organised and have your shit together. We are moving house atm and DH is doing all the hard work. I feel pretty useless in general and find I am crying a lot all of a sudden in the last week.

mrswild86 · 27/07/2019 12:24

Anyone else so happy to see the rain and cool air today?!

Sleepyquest · 27/07/2019 16:57

So grateful for the cooler weather!

Can't believe some of you are thinking about Christmas. I figured I'd sort it when I start Mat leave or do everything on Amazon OR tell people Xmas pressies aren't happening this year haha.

We still haven't decided on a pram, I really just don't know how I'm meant to choose!!

Mintypea5 · 27/07/2019 17:25

@Sleepyquest I'd go try a
Bunch out! I was in love with the idea of a silver cross with DS2 but in reality when I tried it in the shop its was so heavy and hard to manoeuvre. Difficult to put up and down. I knew I'd never cope while trying to get a new born out the house.
Also consider factors like
•how much use it will get? (I don't drove so walk everywhere so used mine daily multiple times)
•can it fit in your car boot
•price - it your only using it occasionally do you want a £1000+ travel system
• will you need to use it on public transport ...

Sleepyquest · 27/07/2019 17:32

Thanks @Mintypea5 !

We will deffo try out our fave in the car (think mothercare let you do this!?)
I'm not keen on spending £1000 because I don't see how it's worth it. We quite like the look and feel of the mothercare journey edit. Seems to offer everything we think we need but I never see it recommended on here.

What did you go for?

Mintypea5 · 27/07/2019 17:45

@Sleepyquest we had the Mothercare journey for DS2 and it's been absolutely fantastic (especially for the
Price!!) I'm upgrading to a slightly more expensive cosatto this time but only because I need a double (DS2 will be 16ish months)

JoJoSaysHello · 27/07/2019 17:48

@Sleepyquest We have gone for the Journey Edit! After visiting a few pram shops and despairing at the prices I came across the Journey Edit online and the reviews seemed very good. Took a trip to Mothercare to try it out alongside iCandy, Silver Cross, etc. and just didn't see a justifiable difference in price. Maybe in five months I'll be regretting it and investing in a more expensive pram, but for the price I thought it was worth a shot. I've had some judgy comments already about having a "non-brand" pram (when I tell people - I'm not actually pushing it around already haha), but I don't mind.

@Tmnmpa1 I know what you mean about the crying episodes!! Mid cry I even question why it's happening and why I can't stop Confused

Mintypea5 · 27/07/2019 17:50

@JoJoSaysHello I'm still using my journey atm with DS2 who's 12 it's bloody great! Loads of space under for shopping. Love that DS can face either way (depending on his mood) still nice and sturdy. Wheels and suspension are still tip top. It was easy and to convert from carry cot to bigger seat too when we needed to

dottydally · 27/07/2019 22:26

I feel like I need to share today's win with you all! I have been desperate for some pyjamas/loungewear that fit me but reluctant to pay £££ for maternity ones so I headed to Primark and bought a pair of pj bottoms (£8) and a nightie (£5). Not maternity but sized up from a small to a medium - they are like a big hug! Super soft and fit perfectly with some room to grow. Primark also had lots of big night shirt type things. Already considering them for my hospital bag..

Farmmum7 · 28/07/2019 00:09

I quite like the panorama travel system in Smyth's. It's cheap but to be honest I can't see us using the pushchair everyday we're so remote that we either have to drive everywhere and walks will all be across fields/mountains/beaches so it'd be so much easier to use a carrier and just have a pushchair for when we need it.

PyjamasForever · 28/07/2019 07:43

@dottydally thanks for the tip. My normal PJs are stretched to maximum capacity today. I had some button up primark nightshirts last pregnancy that were not only great for delivery/breastfeeding/catheter etc but lasted ages afterwards too.

Kaff83 · 28/07/2019 08:01

@Tmnmpa1 - with you on the crying. It was my eldest's 5th birthday this week and the night before I wept for ages about how it's all going too fast and that pregnancy is making me grumpy and short tempered and I'm not enjoying it all enough, and that before I know it I'll blink and he'll be ten and he'll hate me etc etc!! I think my partner was a bit at a loss as to what to say! Obviously the next day when he and his sister were screaming at each other within five minutes of waking up I stopped feeling bad about not enjoying every minute!!

I am so relieved the weather has calmed down. We're in south London and it was 37-38 here on Thursday - think the house is only just cooling down. I feel absolutely massive already (currently 24 weeks) and found the heat hard work. My mum was up yesterday and kept asking me if I was sure I don't have twins in here. Thanks mum.

Re buggies, I have a city mini single which I'll use for the baby as it lies flat and I can use for the almost three year old too so with the buggy board and sling options I can switch them around as needed. I think it's a fab buggy as it's really robust and easy to push and folds in half in a second.

Sleepyquest · 28/07/2019 08:42

@JoJoSaysHello @Mintypea5 perfect, I'm sold!! It looks decent for the price in fairness. Just got to check it fits in the Mini Grin
Can't believe people would say comments about the brand! Who the hell cares.

JoJoSaysHello · 28/07/2019 09:31

@Sleepyquest let us know how you get on! I have a big boot so can't be helpful there sorry.

@dottydally thanks for the tip! I've been looking for some maternity pjs so will check out Primark. A good excuse to have a look around the baby section again while I'm there...

JoJoSaysHello · 28/07/2019 09:38

Is anyone else suffering with lower back pain? I'm okay once I'm up and walking around but if I walk for too long I'm in agony trying to sit and then find it painful to change position (same with lying down) or if I'm sat for a while I find it painful to stand up. I'm a bit at a loss as what to do because I don't want to take painkillers. Wondering if that's what my midwife or GP would advise if I went to see them?

PyjamasForever · 28/07/2019 10:00

It might be PGP @JoJoSaysHello. I'd talk to your midwife about a physio referral. There are some helpful tips for doing things like turning over in bed and getting out of the car with your knees together.

OP posts:
Mintypea5 · 28/07/2019 10:12

@JoJoSaysHello sounds like how I feel with my PGP! Mention it to the midwife they should be able to get you a physio referral. Also try looking at this website it's been really helpful pelvicpartnership.org.uk

I've hd a massive PGP flare up yesterday. Jinxed myself cleared when on Friday my Sil said I seemed to be moving a bit easier and I agreed! Oh well

Even tho we had a fairly decent sleep last night (our 13 month old only woke once and DH sorted him / me painfully trying to turn in my sleep a few times) I'm bloody shattered today! Just fell asleep on the sofa

JoJoSaysHello · 28/07/2019 11:12

@PyjamasForever @Mintypea5 thank you both. I hadn't even looked into PGP as I hadn't linked lower back & pelvis Blush I have a midwife appointment next week so will definitely mention it.

BananasAreTheSourceOfEvil · 29/07/2019 00:48

We ordered our pram this weekend as well! Put the deposit down on that and the swing DP picked out. We got the new car and when all seven seats are up theres not much boot space behind at all, but the frame of the pram folds down quite small and the wheels pop off, which is a bloody godsend.

Im waiting for the Penneys (Primark) end of summer sale to go and get my hospital bits and pieces like the button up cotton pyjamas because they are so much easier for BFing and post natal wards always seem to be so hot.

Is anyone else having braxton hicks yet? I've started having them over the past few days.

LKH27 · 29/07/2019 08:16

I'm 25+5 and people are saying I have barely a bump at all.
Whilst I don't mind them saying it, it is constantly on my mind as to when I'm going to 'pop'.
Can you not pop at all?
I did pilates for 2 and a bit years prior to getting pregnant (and still doing it now) so could this be why my core muscles haven't given way yet?

HeartvsHead · 29/07/2019 08:43

@LKH27 I was like that with my first. I lost my waist but barely stuck out until nearer 30 weeks. I horse ride and do Pilates so strong core.

Very different shape this time! Still have a waist but all out front. I now have everyone telling my how huge I am for the number of weeks I am. Can't win. Everyone loves to comment!

LKH27 · 29/07/2019 08:51

@HeartvsHead
Thanks for replying. I'm not worried about it, but there are times I think I look huge (for me) and everyone is like 'there's nothing there!'
Like I said before, I don't mind the comments and read that the size of the bump is nothing to do with how well baby is growing so that's a relief.
I'm sure it will go at some point. Maybe I'll be the same as you, and go closer to 30 weeks.
