I am a little nervous about starting this thread as I was previously on the March 2008 thread but m/c'd. But I got my bfp this morning and although still faint it is clearly there.

Anyone else coming to nervously join me?

Morning all

Woke up feeling queasy, but have since had vegemite on toast accompanied with folic acid and feel ok-ish at the mo... how is everyone else feeling?

Oh yes, looking at those body pillows - I had one last time and it was a god-send in the final months. I gave it to my friend who was pregnant after me, perhaps I will request it back!!

Hope everyone had a good night sleep

xx

EllieG · 17/08/2007 09:01

Mornin' - I want a body pillow too but am worried is tempting fate to get one this early so will hold off. Though it does look lovely and comfy in bed.
Went to my doc yesterday - she was lovely and said I could have an early scan if I liked, but I'm not sure I want one. Baby died at 8 weeks last time, so if I had had a scan at 6 or 7 it would still have gone, so think I will just wait til 11/12 weeks unless I get really anxious.
Am going back in 3 weeks to get bloods taken etc and she will book me in for one then, so all good. You lot have waaaay more choices than I do - we don't have private maternity stuff here, I can choose to have shared care with my GP or jsut clinic care, but that's it. Think will go for clinic care as is cheaper as GP is £29 a time, and the treatment I would get is no different to the clinic.
Woke up in the night feeling really sick, but OK now. Every time I do I remember that it means am still PG, so is comforting in a weird way really!

Lorayn · 17/08/2007 09:07

G'morning. I didn't have a pillow with either of my last pregnancies (ex-p was a right skinflint!) But I think I might get one this time, as soon as I'm a bit larger, though tbh I could do with one to stop me laying on my boobs now!!OUCH!!

amyjo · 17/08/2007 09:09

Morning all! Anyone else struggling to sleep through the night? I crash out feeling really tired, then wake every two hours or so...mainly to go to the loo, then in the morning I'm shattered due to disturbed sleep!!!!!

Also, for someone who hasn't done any exercise for donkeys' years, my stomach muscles feel as though I've done a thousand sit ups!!! Anyone else got this sensation...? Is it normal...?! Had quite bad cramps again yesterday too

PippiLangstrump · 17/08/2007 09:20

amyjo I feel exactly the same. went to bed at 8.30 last night but turned and turned all night with weird dreams, lots of trips to the bathroom and really tight stomach - albeit bloated! (did not remember all this first time)

started feeling a bit nauseous this morning too...

a part from this all well though.

Lorayn · 17/08/2007 09:25

My stomach feels tender too, especially to the touch, dp is constantly touching it saying things like 'ah, our baby is in there' and i'm 'GET OFF, IT HURTS!!!!'
As for tired, OMG, I have never been so tired, but I can't sleep, I don't fall asleep til gone midnight, get up every two hours for the toilet and can't lie in after 7:30ish, it's horrid!!!

lemonaid · 17/08/2007 09:25

Where are you, Ellie, that you have to pay for GP?

amyjo · 17/08/2007 09:29

Sounds like we're all going through the same kind of thing where sleep (or lack of it!) is concerned.

Off to work, have a good non queasy day everyone!

EllieG · 17/08/2007 09:33

Jersey. It's free if you are really, really skint, but unfortuanately I am just not skint enough (though far from well off!). Everything else is free though and in general health service good so can't complain too much.
Is anyone else really bloated at moment? Sorry if this is tmi, but last night I had so much wind it was sooo uncomfortable, not to mention unpleasant for DP . My sister's boyfriend is a doctor and he says wind is not a side effectof early prgnancy but it must be cos by the end of the day my tummy looks like a football!

ladylush · 17/08/2007 09:52

Ellie - windeze helps and is safe in pregnancy.

Scorpio - glad you are feeling sick and tired iyswim (good signs for pg)

Wind is too a side effect of early pregnancy (increased progesterone levels relax smooth muscle tissue, including the gastrointestinal tract, which slows down the passage of food through the gut, and so food stays in the intestine longer and you produce more wind).

What kind of doctor is he? (DH was in an ambulance once with a couple of brain surgeons who cheerfully told him that they hadn't the faintest idea whether he had broken his leg or not (even though a small child could have looked at it and diagnosed the break, frankly)).

loisstella · 17/08/2007 10:35

leomnaid - you make me laugh... so, I've basically just found out that I've always been a smelly bugger, I just never smelt it before... hahaha...that's comforting
you could be right though - woke up this morning and could smell something 'off' tried finding it and then discovered it was the bins outside the house (we live on the 3rd floor) when the bin men came. Also had to cross the road and pace mysefl a little whilst there when a homeless man crossed my path this morning - the smell is usually not pleassant but this time it just about made me want to vomit.

Went to bed at 11 ish was falling asleep on the sofa whilst watching new show, but then when got to bed DH wouldn't stop talking about babynames...
Woke up at 6:10 this morning - knackered.

So far not too nauseous. Fingers crossed it stays that way.

Hope you all have a happy pain- and sick- free day

dolly1 · 17/08/2007 10:40

Hi ladies
wow you girls can talk! Need to read fast to catch up.
I finally have sore boobs - can't remember who said it before but someone mentioned how they keep poking them to check they are sore - doing the very same thing!

Anyone else dizzy? If I get up to fast I feel really spacey. But not sick.

Having a cup of tea at the moment and feeling so guilty! I love tea but I know I should be obstaining.

Also anyone talking omega 3 and 6? I got some Dr Udo oil yesterday (from seeds rather than fish so better supposedly) which tastes rancid but is meant to be really good for the baby.

EllieG · 17/08/2007 10:55

Thanks ladylush and lemonaid - I am going to ring him tonight and be smug about my new medical knowledge! He is a cardiologist so what does he know eh?
Dolly1 - I asked my GP about omega 3's and she said there was no clinical evidence to support them being benefical, which doesn't mean they are not, just not tested. You're not supposed to take the fish ones as they have too much vitamin A I think, but have also heard mixed reports of flax seed, so I would check out with your GP if I were you. I did find one specifically designed for PG women in a chemist once, but have never come accross them again.

lemonaid · 17/08/2007 11:21

I'm taking a Sanatogen Omega 3 specially for pregnant women that came packaged with my regluar Sanatogen prenatal vitamins (got them in Sainsbury's).

EllieG · 17/08/2007 11:22

Ah I think that's the one I saw. Oh god my cramps are hurty today ouch ouch

dolly1 · 17/08/2007 11:30

I find my gp to be quite crap with all that stuff actually. She told me just take folic acid which, according to my mate who is a bio chemist specialising in nutrition, is not nearly enough - ie you need the full range of vits and minerals. Taking a food based supplement from living nature - really good organic company. Meant to be more digestable than synethic vits though they look the very same.
My mate also reckons omegas are really important and I spoke to the nutritionist in whole foods who advised the oil I'm taking now.
There seem to be so many conflicting reports and studies don't there? Hard to know what is best. Really relying on my pal for advice.
Don't want to miss something out but don't want to OD either!

scorpio1 · 17/08/2007 11:41

Weel you all know how yesterday i was worried about not being sicky, etc?

Well i am tons today!

dolly1 · 17/08/2007 11:43

Good Scorpio! Glad to hear it! That's the first time I've ever congratulated someone on throwing up - or felt jealous of them!

scorpio1 · 17/08/2007 11:43

i havent been sick (never have when pg) but deffo feeling it today. i wana go bed

kookiegoddess · 17/08/2007 11:52

am having quite bad camps today, I hate feeling like I'm about to get a period when I'm supposed to be pregnant!

But on the up side, I joined a clinic today and by chance I was able to see a doctor straight after - so was able to ask stupid questions. Have had spotting today and yesterday and so am wearing a mini pad - anyone else had this too?

Had a small wave of nausea last night but did some deep breathing and it seemed to pass - couldn't bear the embarrassment of being sick outside the police station near my work! Can you imagine...

Hope you are all doing ok. Am getting myself a bit scared about miscarrying so just want to hurry time along...

loisstella · 17/08/2007 14:27

kookiegoddess · 17/08/2007 14:32
