I am a little nervous about starting this thread as I was previously on the March 2008 thread but m/c'd. But I got my bfp this morning and although still faint it is clearly there.

Anyone else coming to nervously join me?

OP posts:

Kingston in (well, near) SW London? I'm down to go there (although may change my mind). My GP sent a form into Kingston saying that I wanted them to do my maternity care and then they (well, Queen Mary's, who handle my antenatal stuff) sent me out appointment letters for the nuchal scan and booking appointment. Not sure what "choose and book" is - maybe you need to go back to your GP?

amyjo · 14/08/2007 15:47

Can I join you....? Had BFP last week (1st pg) still in shock. Think I'm due Apr 16. Having severe cramping like period pains, but no bleeding - is this normal? Also, belly feels swollen!

lemonaid · 14/08/2007 15:51

Hello, amyjo! Yes, normal. When I was pregnant with DS I didn't test for ages because I was so convinced that the cramping meant my period was about to start. And in early pregnancy your digestive system slows down, so you are likely to find that you are bloated and/or constipated (just the first of many undignified symptoms... soon you will be belching and farting like anything!)

CeylonSapphire · 14/08/2007 15:53

Hi Lemonaid - yes, Kingston in SW London - by Norbiton Station. I was given the choice of there or West Middlesex, and Dr very strongly hinted I should go for Kingston. (not sure why - can you enlighten? Kingston is easier for me to get to...)

'Choose and Book' is a system where the Dr gives you a ref number, and password, plus the dept/ward that you should go and see. You are supposedly be able to login, and pick and choose your appt at your leisure. As this is all new to me, I don't know how else I can get to see a mid-wife. The local surgery doesn't seem to have one attached.

I have been back in touch with the GP, and they are looking into it for me, but just wondered whether anyone else had had the same experience!

lemonaid · 14/08/2007 16:00

I went for Kingston last time because it was easy to get to and because I have a friend who'd had her DCs there (whereas at the time I knew nothing about the alternatives) and went for it this time because I went there last time (my other alternatives are St George's or Chelsea & Westminster, so I don't know anything much about West Middlesex). I might switch and do it all (or at least from later pregnancy) privately with the independent midwives at the Birth Centre, if I can justify the cost (as I think it's my best chance for a VBAC).

Based on my experience last time (admittedly three years ago) you book the next appointment at the end of the previous one... "choose and book" sounds far more high tech. The old fashioned posting of bits of paper approach seems to have worked this time, at any rate.

Where do you live? You should come and join the West London meetup thread -- there's a very active group with daytime meets (very useful once you're on maternity leave) and monthly nights out.

amyjo · 14/08/2007 16:21

Thanks lemonaid - you're right about undignified symptoms, as I'm experiencing diarrhoea as well!!! (blush)

CeylonSapphire · 14/08/2007 16:37

Thanks for those tips - I've been thinking about going private, but am waiting to see how things pan out, and also to see just HOW expensive it is!

As for the W. London club - I'm already watching the thread. It's not much good to me at the moment, as I'm stuck at work, but once I'm on mat. leave, then certainly it'll be something I'll be interested in. Home is Strawberry Hill/Twickenham.

Daftmoo · 14/08/2007 20:30

Hi all,

My 'so tired' has now become 'so completely and utterly shattered' I fall asleep on the sofa most evenings and end up in bed long before 10pm and by 2pm everyday I'm literally asleep on my feet, I was really weepy today too.

I met my other half at the pub for lunch today during his dinner hour and I just started crying (what a wuss eh !) you know when you cry and you cant stop well that was me, I had to go and console myself in the ladies and I feel really pathetic about it now

is anyone else feeling like this?

MathairNua · 14/08/2007 21:55

Hi All,

Would really like to join your group. First time for me, unlike some of you who sound like you know exactly what's in store - probably best for me that it's still a bit of an enigma!

Have been on cloud 9 since I found out!

(Not very familiar with the acronyms so you'll have to bear with me if i write whole words occasionally!)

i keep falling asleep at about 5pm everyday-understandable i guess, with two dcs all day alone.

im finding sickness better if i eat straight away when i get up. am losing the will to drink coffee -i love and adore coffee. had to cut down anyway!

Got out my maternity clothes today to wash, etc

i seem to have good and bad days with symptoms-is that true for everyone?

studentmum1 · 15/08/2007 09:57

i'm predicted a girl... oh i hope so!!! wuld love another girl!! i'm feeling terrible this morn, nearly threw up in kitchen sink whilst making dd's breakfast

Peachy · 15/08/2007 10:13

wouldn't get hopes up about that test- got every other one of my 3 dc's wrong LOL, at least it should manage 50% surely?

not good this morning, full o0n sickness when I woke. Ah well. Also got my student handbook fro next year so at least have something else to focus on.

scorpio1 · 15/08/2007 10:14

Peachy · 15/08/2007 10:19

Haven't told Uni yet, want to wait until we're abck but Head of School lives next door so Dh might mention wihtout thinking, well see

scorpio1 · 15/08/2007 10:21

I'm telling Uni when i go back (25 Sept). this is my 2nd year-work still needs to be in after EDD-will have to try hard, want to complete this year and then will have year out, iyswim?

Peachy · 15/08/2007 10:27

Yes that how I'm playing it, am aware I could defer until next year though if needed- my course only 8 hours a week (the rest is home study) next year, so marginally doable, though don't want to.

scorpio1 · 15/08/2007 10:29

mine is 2 days a week.

im going to attend until i feel its possible, then submit work and have e-tutorials until i have completed year-just need 40% passes. then will go back Sept 2009-sproggy will be 1.5 then, figure thats fine

TheMaskedPoster · 15/08/2007 10:34

Hello all

Just come over from March thread as I had my dating scan today which has me as EDD 04/04/08. 'Bean' is 6 +6 with a little heartbeat all of its own... (awwwwwww).

Just reading the first couple of posts on this thread (Rainbowdays and Belgo + any others of course)and I too had a MC and then got pregnant straight away afterwards (this is why I had the dating scan as my lmp was a mc)... so fingers, toes, legs, arms, and EVERYTHING crossed for us all!!!!!

Gosh this is a scary/wonderful/paranoid/nervous time for us all.

xx

EllieG · 15/08/2007 10:38

Hello - after thinking I wouldn't post on the PG threads I am cos I'm soooo nervous this time. Only found out at weekend - am 4+4 and going to G.P tomorrow. Had a MMC in March and can't relax until I know it's alive and kicking.....
Hopefully they will say I can have an early scan - anyone who's had one of these - what does it actually show? They mentioned when I MC'd that if I got PG again they would scan me at about 7 weeks, but since last time it died about 8 weeks they think I'm not going to be particularly reassured.
