Definitely having a tired week here too, and I'm feeling sick in the afternoons and evenings, not fun! Which obviously isn't helped by the lack of sleep did to the PGP and the mugginess last night.

Interviewing for my replacement tomorrow, also hoping to hear back that our mortgage has been approved, and if it has, it's full steam ahead to exchange, complete and move by the end of July. Fingers crossed for a good day!

Puglover88 · 25/06/2019 18:50

@KnobJockey wow! You’re doing a house move as well! Kudos to you, we moved house last year and can’t imagine having to do it pregnant! Having said that, we’re still renovating! 😂

@happydays00 wishing you luck for your scan later this week, and at least going to see a specialist you’ll be in good hands. Hope it goes well.

@TwittleBee hope all is well with you and cramping/spotting has levelled out now.

I’ve just ordered myself a birthing ball as my pregnancy yoga session last night was all on a ball and it was amazing, my upper back pain literally disappeared as I was sat bouncing on it!

kyles101 · 25/06/2019 19:04

@Puglover88 the balls are ace aren't they!! It's fixed my lower back pain!!

DustyDoorframes · 25/06/2019 19:05

Crikey @BridgetJonesDaiquiri ! Surely if you are being collectively poached you will be well placed to negotiate an uplift to everything rather than having to put up with a downgrade??? It sounds like your boss has remembered to include your needs in his negotiating which bodes well too?

I did lots of trudging about sort of errands today. Knackered now, and looking forward to a nice quiet day at work tomorrow...

happydays00 · 25/06/2019 19:35

@BridgetJonesDaiquiri what a shock and what poor timing. I suppose the only consolation is that you will have a plan before you leave for mat leave rather than coming back to a complete shit show!!!

I'm 30 weeks on Saturday and also feels like I real milestone. After a few slow weeks time has really sped up again and we still have nothing except the cot from DD, the pram and a changing table.

Specialist scan tomorrow afternoon, I've managed to distract myself today with half a days work and then took DD for a haircut so hoping tomorrow morning will go as fast. Also hoping I don't end up shouting at DH on the drive to London, I find sitting in a car particularly uncomfortable at the moment so that combined with nerves will no doubt make me extra snappy!

I've admitted defeat with work and dropped down from 4 days to 3: I have to be monitored twice weekly in hospital and trying to fit those in, with 4 days work and DD just felt like too much. I'm freelance so technically the company owe me nothing but they've been amazing and have someone lined up to work alongside me from 10 July which will really take the pressure off!

Yes! Me too. What is with that?

I'm also very tired this week and work is crazy busy and feel like I have a lot.of pressure on me. 28 days to go!
I'm 31 weeks tomorrow and it is now like a countdown. I think everything up to week 30 was a "count up" rather than a countdown.

We went back to Ikea (my 2nd time!) again and got a changing unit that my grandparents are kindly buying us. Got all my reusable nappies in the drawers etc.
It's all becoming very real!

excitednerves · 25/06/2019 20:31

I’m 30 weeks today and exhaustion has hit! I’m definitely feeling it when I’m walking to work, hips are agony.

6 weeks left at work for me and mat cover starts in 4 weeks. It’s all getting very close!

Stroan · 25/06/2019 20:41

So tired. Seem to hit a wall at 3pm every day. Really looking forward to finishing work now, 5 weeks left. The work is fine, but the early mornings and commute are getting harder and harder.

My Mum is coming up for a few days to help sort out the house. Which means it will be the cleanest it has ever been. Cannot wait.

Puglover88 · 25/06/2019 20:56

Glad it’s not just me feeling exhausted! I finish work at 31 weeks fortunately as I’m a teacher so break up for the summer holidays on 19th July and won’t be going back in the Autumn term - I’m going to make the most of every lie in I can get!

TheCraicDealer · 25/06/2019 21:52

Eugh you're all so far ahead of me! I'm trailing behind you at 27w tomorrow!

I hit a wall at 2pm today- mixture of tiredness and a Kevin the Teenager strop at excel WIP spreadsheets. I actually thought "I could just go off on maternity dead early" and then gave myself a mental slap. The baby was kicking when I was getting annoyed at the spreadsheets though, she's usually quite quiet during the day but I don't know if my increased blood pressure got her going.

DH and I painted most of the nursery at the weekend. I started getting stuff ready and he said he would go out the back to break up some wood. An hour later he came back in (after doing some "weeding"), complaining about how sore his legs were from his run the day before and how "he really didn't feel up to this today". I was sitting on the floor doing the cutting in around the skirting with my six-month preggo belly looking at him like Hmm and he still hasn't moved the bloody wardrobe so we can do behind it! He's mostly excellent but his attitude gets on my tits sometimes. I can only imagine the sheer rage I'll feel towards him in the post-birth hormone crash!

Megan2018 · 25/06/2019 21:53

@boodles101 My GTT results were
Fasting: 4
After the glucose: 10.9
7.8 or above is a fail.

My readings today were only done at 1hr after lunch and dinner and were 9 and 8.6 but they said to just eat whatever today, then start to think about the carbs in each meal from tomorrow.

We also did a practice reading at the clinic which was 5.6, but that was about 2.5hrs after breakfast so didn’t mean much!

The day only got worse, missed NCT as got rear ended on the way home from work Angry. Not at speed so I was physically fine but still very shaken up. Was on a major road in rush hour traffic and pouring rain. Worst thing is was in DH’s company car which means a whole pile of pain needed to go through his employer. I’m insured to drive it, but they make a huge fuss about damage and DH’s boss is an absolute

RonaldWeasley · 25/06/2019 22:09

@TheCraicDealer I'm 27 weeks tomorrow as well and wishing it was more like 30, although I am in no way prepared enough to be wishing the time away.

What a frightening experience @Megan2018 and the last thing you want to be dealing with at the minute. Glad you are alright though.

IVEgottheDECAF · 25/06/2019 22:14

So glad i am not the only one crash and burning

Had two naps todays. Did morning school run and nipped shop on way back then just lazed about with toddler. Exhausting.

Apparently we will have sunshine here tomorrow so hopefully that will perk me up a bit. Need to do things.

Bump seems to have grown a fair bit in last week and movements are getting pretty uncomfortable.

I would love a 38 week delivery right now

Stroan · 25/06/2019 22:47

@Thecraicdealer are you married to my husband?! He has a knack of disappearing to do something that is not actually helpful and then not coming back. He stays up way too late and goes out running - then complains that he is feeling "so drained". Drained? Really? You want to discuss feeling drained?!

@ivegotthedecaf so jealous of the naps. I've forced DD to drop hers so now I can't nap either. Is it bad that I'm hoping for a 37 week Section?

TheCraicDealer · 26/06/2019 00:03

Hahaha Stroan maybe we're married to the same guy- he could be over seeing me when he's "out for his run", then tell me he's off to do some weeding and hop back to you Grin

Can someone please explain to me why people rate the Baby Bjorn bouncer so much? To my inexperienced eye it looks like £150 for a basic bouncer with zero bells and whistles (literally) yet people seem to really rate it Confused there's loads of people on the promoted bouncer thread recommending it but I'm still none the wiser why, except the material "isn't plasticy".

TwittleBee · 26/06/2019 06:40

Oh @Megan2018 that's so shit about the car! I'm relieved you are okay, do get checked out though if you do have any concerns. What a pain having to go through the employers too, although hopefully that means no insurance hassle for you?

I have no clue either @TheCraicDealer ! My friend had one for her first though and her baby did either live in it or on her so guessing it must be comfy for them?

OP posts:
IVEgottheDECAF · 26/06/2019 06:44

I would NEVER spend so much on a bouncer! Some babies hate them! Fwiw i dont even rate bouncers much i prefer a swing. We have a fisher price rainforest one left from dc4 and i will use that again for this baby. Its about £60 i think

TwittleBee · 26/06/2019 06:46

Same here Decaf ! Tbh DS lived on his play mat and I suspect that might be why he was an early crawler?

OP posts:
excitednerves · 26/06/2019 06:52

@TheCraicDealer same question. How!!? It’s just fabric on a frame. I do t get it but people love them - in real life and on the internet. Thinking about picking up a second hand one and a new fabric seat. Just can’t justify over £100 for it!

IVEgottheDECAF · 26/06/2019 06:55

Yes i think floor time is really important too. Our boys all crawled and walked fairly early but the dd was a lazy thing! No idea why. At one point she looked like she was going to bum shuffle instead of crawl but then changed her mind.

I am a bit wary of leaving this baby in a room with dc4. I might get a travel cot for downstairs. Im concerned about him falling on the baby or dropping toys on its head Blush

www.online4baby.com/graco-contour-electra-travel-cot-bassinette-balancing-act?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIjtezvrqG4wIVCbrtCh3VWA0bEAQYCCABEgJW-fD_BwE

Something like that maybe

There will be 2.10 / 2.11 years between dc4 and baby. There are 3.6 years between dc3 and 4, i never had these concerns with her! She seemed much much older and more switched on and with it.

Megan2018 · 26/06/2019 06:57

I paid £10 for a basic 2nd hand bouncer that rocks/vibrates/plays music will see if baby likes it and might get a nicer one later. This one is quite smart though, wooden frame and cream fabric.

My friend who had her baby last Sept says she mainly plonked her in it when she has a shower (in the bathroom), or by the back door when hanging out washing as it distracted just long enough to accomplish those tasks! Doesn’t sound worth paying £150 for.

We’ve been given a huge amount of toys so trying to not buy anything else until Christmas, then my family can go mad with it if they like.

IVEgottheDECAF · 26/06/2019 07:02

We still have the vast majority of dc4s baby toys. I am a bit worried incase baby gets bought all of the same things for christmas! Hopefully people buy clothes / give vouchers / ask what we need. Due to having four dc already we have a LOT of toys. They are generally good at taking care of things and dc4 is currently playing with toys that belonged to dc1 who is now 11!

happydays00 · 26/06/2019 07:02

@Megan2018 how awful for you. How are you feeling this morning? Just not what you need!

@Stroan and @TheCraicDealer - my husband is exactly the same. I keep telling myself that what's important to me in that moment, isn't necessarily his priority - his mind just seems to work in a very different way. He has ALWAYS wondered off at crucial times, even before DD so I give up nagging now 🤷‍♀️

I got a second hand Baby Bjorn bouncer with DD and do really rate it. I loved that it was very transportable, you can bounce easily with your foot, they can also bounce themselves and you can take the fabric off and wash so easily . I'm sure there are other good ones out there (and for less) but my DD absolutely loved it. I also had a Baby Bjorn high chair which I absolutely loved as well. Again, was £££ but will definitely be using it for this baby too.

IVEgottheDECAF · 26/06/2019 07:04

Urgh i hate high chairs. Have always struggled there

happydays00 · 26/06/2019 07:09

@IVEgottheDECAF this one has zero straps or awful seat creases for food to get into. The tray and table part locks them in too so they cannot stand up / escape and the tray comes off and fits easily in the dishwasher. Still, can't say I'm looking forward to wearing though 😂
