I don't understand the baby Bjorn bouncers either. Last time my SIL gave us her mamas and papas basic one and DS loved it. This time I got 2 from Argos that were in the baby event sale. Think they were £50 down to £20 each. I had been looking on FB for 2nd hand but for £20 I thought I'd just buy new. Put one together yesterday and it's so cute, my DS tried to climb in it!

IVEgottheDECAF · 26/06/2019 07:18

happydays its £200 Shock

I dont dislike weaning. I dislike having a high chair in the way. I dislike all the white they put on them that gets stained!

TwittleBee · 26/06/2019 07:42

Desperate to get our wooden flooring down before we start weaning this time!

@BridgetJonesDaiquiri I'm sorry about your work situation! Such shit timing, I find work is giving me such a lot of stress I cant imagine them chucking in a bombshell like that.

I'm back to it today after 10 days off, but actually not 10 days off because someone I couldnt resist checking up on my project and some HR person decided to call while I was in theme park (she knew i was on holiday) and caused and annoyed me the point of sleeplessness. Mat leave is the only thing to create a proper break, bring it on!

TheCraicDealer · 26/06/2019 08:30

I'm glad I'm not the only one baffled, although glad you liked yours @happydays00! There's a Hauck wooden highchair that I have my eye on, it's basically a Trip-Trap copy but you can take their bouncer seat off its frame and put it on the highchair so they can sit at the table with you even when they're tiny. The whole lot still costs less than the Baby Bjorn! I know people say the baby can bounce really well in the BB but neither DNeice or DNephew had any issue with getting a good rhythm going in their £20 Argos jobby.

Was so close to ordering a Britax Römer spinny car seat in the Boots baby event last night- £178 with the discount. But it's two days before payday and, as I reminded myself, we have the bucket seat already so there's minus urgency with it.

kyles101 · 26/06/2019 08:51

@BBell2 I hate that! It's the thing I know I'm going to find stressful about being on mat leave - hearing half a story or being called for advice on something I'm not fully involved in. Holidays just aren't holidays anymore with smartphones. My boss once text my dh whilst we were on holiday because he couldn't get hold of me for something - my phone was back in our room as I couldn't get signal apart from there!!

IVEgottheDECAF · 26/06/2019 09:08

I used to work a job where work convo was constant via whatsapp when i wasnt there. Drove dp mad. I have no desire to be that involved again!

Lovely school run with fanny daggers Sad

Baby is probably around 3lb and i am sore. I reckon he will be 9lbish at full term. Thats three times the weight Sad

Karigan195 · 26/06/2019 09:08

We looked at bouncers for a good hour and went for a joie one in the end. It vibrates, rocks, seemed comfy and packed flat. On the internet for £52.

TwittleBee · 26/06/2019 09:22

kyles101 yeah I've been told if I want my promotion then I need to basically be on call 24/7 for clients... I'll only have to actually do urgent urgent stuff right away which won't happen often at all but it's annoying I'll always have to keep my work phone on loud and my laptop close by...

Oh fanny daggers, just delightful isn't it... urgh DECAF ! Eek.

happydays00 · 26/06/2019 09:22

@IVEgottheDECAF have you tried a mountain buggy pod high chair thing ? It clips onto the table so never really in the way. We had one for travelling and it was great.

easterbuns1 · 26/06/2019 09:25

I'm struggling to keep up so apologies if I've missed loads. I am also back to being completely knackered. Spd definitely in full flow now too, trying to do regular short walks with the dog rather than a big one but still really sore. Got swooped by a seagull this morning and practically had to sprint so now on sofa feeling sorry for myself. I hit the magic 30 weeks on Friday, it seems like a big milestone for some reason!

TwittleBee · 26/06/2019 09:28

Well nausea has certainly struck hard this morning, keep retching and been sick a few times... not sure if maybe I am actually ill now rather than just having "morning" sickness making a come back?

OP posts:
IVEgottheDECAF · 26/06/2019 09:32

Twittle i have felt sick and off my food for about 4 days now!

happydays i had seen those styles but do they not damage your table?

Stroan · 26/06/2019 09:38

I could never justify the money for a Baby Bjorn bouncer - but I know people who've got them second hand and loved them. DD was quite happy with her £40 Mamas and Papas one, they all do the same thing. I am not looking forward to a living room full of a 3 year olds toys PLUS all the baby paraphernalia. I am already looking forward to selling the jumperoo.

I'm trying to find a second hand Stokke Tripp Trapp high chair as I want the newborn attachment so we can all sit at the table. People seem to hang on to them though.

We had a nice wooden Cosatto highchair, but I sold it. The £13 Ikea highchairs are fab - so easy to clean. I'm too clumsy though, always trip up on the legs.

My work is really low maintenance now, but in my last job they tried to get me to take my blackberry and laptop home with me on maternity leave. I know exactly what would have happened so refused.

Stroan · 26/06/2019 09:39

@twittlebee & @ivegotthedecaf third trimester nausea/sickness is definitely a thing. I've had to go back up to the max dosage of medication and it's apparently quite normal at this stage.

IVEgottheDECAF · 26/06/2019 09:40

Did you have a cosatto waffle? I had one of those and HATED it Blush

happydays00 · 26/06/2019 09:41

@stroan, no I could never justify buying one new but for second hand for £50 (which you can then charge when you sell on) I could resist.

@IVEgottheDECAF - maybe depends what sort of table you have but did no damage to ours (or any of the ones we used it on on holiday) and much better than constantly tripping over high chair legs!!!

TwittleBee · 26/06/2019 09:41

Yeah I did have it come back with DS, the sickness, but just don't remember it this bad and it's like it's suddenly hit as soon as I turned 28 weeks! So odd. Bleurgh.

Certainly looking foward to Spetmber rolling round

Lavellan · 26/06/2019 09:51

30 wks for me yesterday. Feeling 3rd tri dropped on me now, constipation and sciatica being the two main culprits. Knew I couldn't get away with it all the way to the end! Fruit smoothie with flaxseed for breakfast, yay. Hmm

Stroan · 26/06/2019 10:04

@ivegotthedecaf yeah, and I loved it! But I bought it as a Tripp Trapp style highchair and should really have just got what I wanted first time round.

@lavellan lactulose is safe in pregnancy if the smoothie doesn't work. I couldn't be without it Blush

DustyDoorframes · 26/06/2019 10:09

I had the Bjorn bouncer on loan from two different people for the last two, and it was great- really compact and sturdy. Didn't realise it was so dear!! Hopefully we can borrow again, as I'm not sure I can justify that price!
We borrowed almost everything, but bought TWO Tripp traps, one new and one second hand. They are still in daily use for a 6 and 3 year old (adjusted down- and adults can easily perch on them too). Although hoping the 6 year old can be persuaded to let the baby have his for weaning... totally totally worth it, even at full price. And so sturdy, second hand is easy to find (though usually much older models, as people do keep them for years and years)

IVEgottheDECAF · 26/06/2019 10:13

The paint chipped badly on my waffle highchair! I might look at a wooden one but not a painted one

DustyDoorframes · 26/06/2019 10:19

No chips on the Tripp Trapp, decaf, and they get a beating (literally- I caught DD whacking hers with a wooden toy hammer this morning, and that's not unusual...)
Ps megan argh re the car!!! Hope you are feeling ok this morning.

Stroan · 26/06/2019 10:29

Ah, mine didn't chip at all. But then I only had DD in it, no other kids around.

Definitely want a Tripp Trapp this time, but will have to suck up the cost if I can't find one second hand. @dustydoorframes do you know if the older ones are exactly the same? i.e. will all the accessories still fit?

DustyDoorframes · 26/06/2019 10:35

@stroan No, there are at least two incompatible models in circulation- the difference is in the baby kit. the old ones have a wooden front bar with a leather bit to stop them sliding down , and the newer ones a plastic thing that includes the bit for their legs. The clip on harness works on both though. We've got one of each... people often sell them WITH the baby kit. I think but don't know that only the newer ones work with the newborn thing you can attach (but the newer ones have been around for at least 7-8 years)
