@happydays00 you need to call them every morning and afternoon until they schedule one in for you, I had to do the same thing. Even if you have private if something comes up you’ll probs still need an NHS one

kyles101 · 24/06/2019 21:41

@happydays00 try to step away from google as it will not help you at all for this. You're going to have to be very calm and collected for the next 2 days whilst you wait for your private scan and keep calling as @Hsunshine says for an nhs one. I know I'd be exactly the same worrying in your shoes, but stress will not help, focus on trying to change what you can by pushing for your appointment ASAP and keep your mind occupied on other things until the scans.

TwittleBee · 25/06/2019 06:37

I am so sorry this is so stressful for you @happydays00 I'd have to have done what you've done and booked a private scan just to know. Although they will probably then have to refer you back to the NHS, at least you'll know. My friend done similar as they needed to know (was recognised her baby wasn't developing properly but would need another detailed scan) and they were able to tell her what they found at the private scan but I don't know if that's because it was a specialist private centre she went too.

Thanks all, I managed to have a surprisingly good sleep last night so feeling a bit more calm this morning.

We've booked to see a Fetal medicine specialist so even if I have to have another NHS scan after I will hopefully feel calmer once I know exactly what is going on and also have his recommendation for a treatment / care plan (if it comes to that).

@TwittleBee - how are you feeling? Has the bleeding and cramps stopped completely now?

@Hsunshine - thanks I will phone them this morning anyway, they didn't give me a number, just said to "expect a phone call" but I'm sure with some stalking I'll find it!

@kyles101 thank you, and have stepped away from Google (fingers are literally itching but remaining strong)

TwittleBee · 25/06/2019 07:46

Glad you feel a bit calmer this morning @happydays00 ! I'm sure all will be okay, I carried extra fluid with DS and all is fine with him, is the worry though until you know all is okay.

Still spotting and cramping this morning. I had terrible sleep due to the cramping. Baby is moving all good though. MW hasn't got back to me so I assume I do just wait it out unless it gets worse.

Also can feel baby still swinging between positions! He keeps flipping between transverse and breech, pretty sure anyway but of course I could be wrong! Makes me feel sick, no clue how he has so much room in there as I feel tight but my bump is so small

OP posts:
IVEgottheDECAF · 25/06/2019 07:53

Funnily enough i think baby has been head down here for over a week after having been permanently transverse! Which is great given one of my risks was having an unstable lie / transverse!

TwittleBee · 25/06/2019 08:01

Deacf that's a relief I bet! Hopefully stays down!

Anyone have any tips for avoiding getting back pain in bed? 27 weeks and in agony- tossing and turning all night.

boodles101 · 25/06/2019 09:14

Can remember who said a few pages back about movement really increasing past 28weeks but totally right for me. I'm 28+4 today and yesterday/this morning I've been kicked left right and centre. These babies are definitely ganging up on me!

IVEgottheDECAF · 25/06/2019 09:36

I ate an ice lolly yesterday (2 actually) and baby went crazy!

Stroan · 25/06/2019 09:40

Glad you are feeling a bit better today @happydays00 it seems so unfair you've been left in this position. I think that sometimes the medical pros forget how worrying it all is when no-one explains things or talks through the next steps. Hope the next two days go fast for you.

Megan2018 · 25/06/2019 15:00

@boodles101 yes that was me - I'd been concerned about lack of frequency of movements and my MW said not to worry until 28 weeks - and she was right, the kicks suddenly got much more obviously on exactly 28!

So that was quite a morning. Spent over 4 hours in hospital - had a group diabetes clinic where we got our blood monitors and saw a dietician, then saw the diabetes midwife. I mentioned that baby had been quite inactive this morning so got sent to MAU - was there for ages getting assessed.
Fortunately all fine, the print out was absolutely normal but baby has moved again (now transverse) and although they could see her wriggle on the monitor I am not feeling as much as before. Little monkey!

Been told to eat normally today and take the readings (when I get up, 1 hr after breakfast, lunch and dinner), then try the diet suggested by hospital for a week - back to clinic next Weds. Depending on the results I can then either stay just on the diet or add Metformin.

The hospital dietician recommended quite different things to the gestational diabetes website though! I suspect I am going to have to be more stringent to get my levels down.

It’s been an eventful day here as well. Boss phoned me up this morning to say that there is an opportunity for the whole team to move companies (myself included). He’s 99% sure he’ll take it and the team will be doing a phased start Aug-Oct. My immediate concern is WTF does that mean in terms of my maternity package (am due to go off end Aug) and then longer term in terms of my current working patterns and salary, bonus etc. He said that he’s confirmed with said new company that they will honour my existing companies’ maternity package for me, but I feel like the rug has been pulled out from under me. I can’t stay where I am if my whole team move as I will effectively be making myself redundant - but then I think perhaps that’s not an awful shout as redundancy payout is likely higher than mat pay. Ugh, why does this have to happen now.

Went to have growth scan this afternoon and fortunately that is all fine, placenta has moved up. Next one at 32 weeks.

Stroan · 25/06/2019 17:18

I'm sure you'll find the balance and get the hang of it @megan2018

I would be on a LOT of insulin if I followed the NHS dietician advice so I'm very grateful to the lady who runs the GD website for all of her efforts and years of research. Interestingly, some hospitals are starting to recommend the site officially.

So tired today, 30 weeks tomorrow which feels like quite a milestone. Definitely on the home straight now. I would be nesting if I could be bothered!

Stroan · 25/06/2019 17:21

@bridgetjonesdaquiri that's quite the shock! Is it common in your industry for whole teams to move like that.

It's good that your boss has already done some groundwork but so many questions. Will you have an opportunity to ask the right person in the new company?

kyles101 · 25/06/2019 17:34

@BridgetJonesDaiquiri there's a rule when companies take on staff from existing contracts that says by law they have to be on at lease the same benefits etc as their old employer - it has a name beginning with T... hang on I'll google... that it TUPE rules. Should apply to your situation.

Only 2 more days at work before I have my maternity cover starting - was checking out my work diary and arranging meet and greets etc and omg my end date is so close - and with key staff holiday and overlaps of holiday (great planning!) it's going to be a manic six weeks!!

Bought a fan today - there is no way I'm going to be able to sleep through the coming heatwave if it's as bad as the papers are making out it might be!?!

Assume I don't have GD - yay - they said they'd call Friday / Monday latest if there was anything out of the ordinary.

boodles101 · 25/06/2019 17:39

Wow stroan 30 weeks definitely a milestone. Makes everything seem very real! Think I might freak out once I'm passed 30 weeks 😆

Megan what are your levels like? Very high or only just over the border?

Bridgetjonesdaquiri that's really shit but yeah TUPE should cover your contract and pay etc.

Kyles I'm assuming I passed my GTT too as no one has contacted me yet! Should find out tomorrow at consultant appt. I'm just trying to make a list of questions to ask, main one being what's the latest these babies are going to arrive!!

Stroan · 25/06/2019 17:46

I think TUPE would only apply to a forced move - if one company was buying the other for example. This sounds a bit more voluntary?

@boodles101 it's been feeling quite slow lately so hitting 30 weeks suddenly feels a bit scary. In theory, it's a maximum of 9 weeks until eviction, but likely to be more like 8. 8 weeks is nothing!

IVEgottheDECAF · 25/06/2019 18:00

I am 30 weeks on thursday!

Been really tired and feeling sick this week, anyone else?

Hsunshine · 25/06/2019 18:12

By the way, If anyone needs a bottle steriliser, boots has tommee tippie super steam advanced electric half price online

IVEgottheDECAF · 25/06/2019 18:15

After suffering terrible steam burns Blush i only cold water sterile with milton

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 25/06/2019 18:19

Thanks all for your messages. Unfortunately it’s not a TUPE situation - it’s effectively our small team “choosing” to move or being poached, rather than a new company acquiring part of another business and all the employees attached to said business moving across. We would all need to resign from current company and sign new contract with new company, rather than old terms/benefits etc shifting across. So a bit up in the air re salary, benefits, flexible working. It’s common in our industry yes, but pretty shit timing!

kyles101 · 25/06/2019 18:20

Yes, did seem strangely voluntary but I assumed it wouldn't be... if the new co is really keen though I would have thought that they'll give you a contract at least as good as the one you have. Just check how many years service will count if you have built up many years - is it some kind of inter company or related company move? You just don't want to have built up x years service for redundancy etc only to have it knocked back to nil.

My energy levels are so up and down @IVEgottheDECAF this week I'm experiencing a down week so far... come tomorrow i could be bouncing off the walls though 🤷‍♀️
