How does the amazon gift list discount work? I have a list but keep adding to it have no idea how or when the discount is applied Confused

IVEgottheDECAF · 17/06/2019 21:54

You have to order all the stuff at the same time and type in a code when you order for it to be applied thecraicdealer

kyles101 · 17/06/2019 22:01

Ooooh yeah I'd be pretty tempted by that I think... that's a spa day Wink

IVEgottheDECAF · 17/06/2019 22:03

I have never struggled so much to choose a pram before Confused maybe its because i know its my last baby so my last proper pram pram?

TheCraicDealer · 17/06/2019 22:31

Thanks IVEgottheDECAF. If I were you I'd splurge on the print you really want- it is your last pram after all! Treat yo self!

IVEgottheDECAF · 17/06/2019 22:45

If only i knew what i actually wanted lol

kyles101 · 18/06/2019 04:42

Roll a dice or draw it out of a hat. Then if you are disappointed with what you get you know to go for the other one - usually works best with 2 options but I do flip a coin when I genuinely can't choose as that initial disappointment or flash of pleasure can't be faked.

happydays00 · 18/06/2019 06:52

Hahaha @IVEgottheDECAF just flick a coin and go with that (or at the least it'll make you realise which one you did want).

Ladies who have flown recently - did you have a "fit to fly" note? I've just realised technically I should have one (as I'm 28 weeks). I don't, and am at the airport - just going to have to try and disguise the size of this giant watermelon somehow 😬😬

IVEgottheDECAF · 18/06/2019 07:18

Would it work to just knock a couple of weeks off due date if asked happydays? Learn a new due date now! I have never flown so late so not much help i know!

TwittleBee · 18/06/2019 08:09

happydays I wouldnt worry! When I flew with my really obvious bump with DS, no one asked me! I was surprised as I thought we would be asked to move as we had the door seats (need extra leg room with DH's height) and there were clear signs about not being allowed to sit there if pregnant

Regarding birth bags..... What are you all using or found useful last time?

Cant decide whether to get a backpack style, weekend carrier or a small wheeled suitcase? Planning on having a home birth but figured I should have something packed just in case. I'll ensure that they are packed into separate bags inside too so DH can find things easily

IVEgottheDECAF · 18/06/2019 08:16

I use a duffle for me and nappy bag for baby

TwittleBee · 18/06/2019 08:23

That is what we used last time too but really our duffle bag was way too small (it only just fits my gym gear in there for size reference) and think the changing bag will go with DS and whoever looks after him (if it doesnt pan out).

Maybe the weekend carrier then as that is gonna be a bigger than the duffle but similar in style

But then we dont own a wheeled suitcase and I know one would come in handy for when we go to France to visit family... hmmmmmm

TheCraicDealer · 18/06/2019 08:26

I'm going to use a wheeled suitcase for me and the pacapod change bag for most of the baby's stuff. I don't love the idea of the suitcase (having to get it up on the hospital bed to get stuff out, etc) but at least I could try and carry it whilst DH will have everything else. It's marginally easier to find things than hoking through a duffle/overnight bag too.

Going to have to try very hard not to overpack- my only experience is my DSis who was kept in at least three days/two nights with each of her babies so there will be a temptation to pack like I'm going for a weekend away somewhere.

TwittleBee · 18/06/2019 08:30

TheCraicDealer pack a 2nd bag that has all those extras in and keep it in the car. I do intend on doing that this time as I was in for a week and had to send my mum to our house to get more stuff as didnt expect more than 1 night - actually we werent even ready with our birth bag either, was a made dash to think what we would need and left a lot behind.

Stroan · 18/06/2019 08:47

I've just used a weekend bag that I've had for years, plus the changing bag. I'm conscious that it will have to be something I can easily grab and haul up onto the bed if I can't get up!

Stroan · 18/06/2019 08:49

@thecraicdealer yes to a spare bag in the car!

But I was in for a week in total and had only packed for 3 days. DH took some stuff home to wash and brought it back the next day so it worked out fine.

Hsunshine · 18/06/2019 08:55

So you need one bag for you and a separate one for baby?

Stroan · 18/06/2019 09:14

@hsunshine you can take whatever you like really, but I found it easier that way. When DH or the midwives needed something for the baby they weren't having to rummage through my maternity pads and huge knickers 😂

boodles101 · 18/06/2019 09:15

I packed way too much stuff last time, didn't even get the bags out of the car during labour, then was discharged the following morning. However guessing I'm going to be in at least a few days this time and will have double to pack! Think I'll get started on the bags after my consultant appt next week. Need to wash the clothes too! Suddenly feeling like I need to be more prepared for them arriving soon!

Dyra · 18/06/2019 09:19

From what I've read about hospital bags is that it makes it easier to know what you have, and quicker to find what you're looking for if you have separate bags for you and baby. I don't have any direct experience though.

It's my plan anyway. Bag for me for two or so nights and ditto for baby. If I need extras for an extended stay, my parents or DH can collect for me.

When are people getting theirs ready? I'm 26 weeks now. Still feels a bit early for me, think I'll have them ready for the end of July.

IVEgottheDECAF · 18/06/2019 09:34

Aiming for everything ready by 36 weeks

I stayed in one night with dc1 and went home same day with the other 3. Have been told as long as all goes to plan i have no reason to not be allowed home same day again.

Karigan195 · 18/06/2019 09:51

Planning separate bags for myself and baby. Told partner to pack his own bag too with snacks and entertainment :)

Megan2018 · 18/06/2019 09:53

We are covering hospital bags soon at NCT. I am planning on buying some bits on payday (need pads, nighties etc). We have various bags I can use though, just need contents. My plan is a bag for me, bag for baby and extras to live in the car. As I’m convinced I’ll have a section I want enough in car for 5 days total but won’t bring it all in. We are an hour away from the hospital so popping back home not an easy option and no family around, only DH so would rather take too much.

I have a wheeled holdall and a small cabin sized wheeled suitcase. As well as a bigger wheeled case. Plus the changing bag once purchased.

Lavellan · 18/06/2019 09:54

@dyra same, by end of july. I like being organised so part of me wants to do it already, but it will be easier when I have a bit of summer holiday.
