It’s my DP that will be picking up the bulk as well. He’s going to part time and is to be fair pretty good at home chores etc so I’m hoping it will be fine

easterbuns1 · 17/06/2019 11:51

Waiting on the gp to phone back because somethings shown up on my bloods from My mw appointment. I assume if it was just a case of needing iron the receptionist would have told me, not sure why I'd need to speak to gp about that!

boodles101 · 17/06/2019 11:53

easterbuns this receptionist at my GP won't tell us anything here, I've had low iron in the past and had to wait to speak to the GP. Pain in the arse cos it does panick you a bit!

TwittleBee · 17/06/2019 11:55

DH and I will be working our shifts around each other so will both certainly be having to balance the load. Naturally I do the cooking because that is my passion (although DH will do it if I am tired and leave him good instructions). Not gonna lie, I am nervous about DH managing 2 children together - he does struggle to have patience with DS - and so hoping it doesnt then effect our relationship

Ha ha, I panicked yesterday when dh said he was going to take my fur baby down the yard with him (behind our house but not fenced, so she could go wandering) although, I was really good about it and didn't say a thing, even though I wanted to make him promise to keep an eye on her at all times. She is known to wander but does always find her way back! And they were absolutely fine. I can imagine the impulse is going to be 100 times worse when it's an actual baby!

@easterbuns1 I'm sure everything is fine, most receptionists I've found wouldn't tell you either, and it's probably even worse now with gdpr rules etc.

IVEgottheDECAF · 17/06/2019 12:42

I will continue to do the bulk of things with this baby, i may return to work VERY part time or i may have another couple of years as a SAHM. Need to see what is best financially once baby is here and also how well everyone adjusts to impact of an extra person in the house!

Dyra · 17/06/2019 13:14

From everyone's comments I think I really need to have a proper sit down with DH regarding chores. I do everything bar taking the bins to the kerb. Cleaning (well... Tidying up), laundry, cooking, taking the rubbish out. Admittedly some stuff he can't do because he has a skin condition (cheiropompholyx) which he has all kinds of triggers for (especially rubber gloves) so it's better if he stays away from most chemicals. But he can still help with some stuff.

I swear he forgets we both have a full time job sometimes. He's a good bloke, and I wouldn't swap him for the world, but it would be nice every now and then to come home from work and have the dishwasher run/emptied or the laundry put away without having to do it myself.

Belated welcome to you as well @RonaldWeasley. Due date twin! I think I'm also having a boy, though I'm technically still team yellow.

Agreed on the receptionist thing. They can't/shouldn't tell you anything, even if it is incredibly minor. One of my early blood tests came back with slightly raised antibodies, which didn't need any further investigation, but I had to have a GP phone call to tell me that. Hopefully it'll be a similar situation for you.

kyles101 · 17/06/2019 14:10

@Dyra once my dh realised how much the help meant and how much nicer life is when I'm happy he's definitely started making more of an effort to help. As an example, he usually works 13 hour ish days (hence why even though working full time I do everything too) but he got home early one day last week and washed up. I literally welled up I was so grateful. I think, not that I meant for it to, it actually made him feel quite bad about how little he used to help, and even though I know handing out badges for little bits of help is whatsit as there should be equal responsibility for everything 🙄 in real life it's actually been a real help to ensure he does carry of with the bits of help he has been giving.

easterbuns1 · 17/06/2019 15:26

Was just iron as I thought! Hopefully I might feel slightly less exhausted once that's sorted out. Got the go to do me a script for my heartburn too since the gaviscon and rennies is doing naff all.

I think I might be the only sahm going by previous posts? So I do pretty much all the domestic stuff in our house. Dp will do things if I ask but he wouldn't take the initiative with anything!

Lavellan · 17/06/2019 15:33

Growth scan today and we were within the lines, excellent. :)

I have also signed up to do a pregnancy taste study with a local university department and they came and filled a drawer of my freezer with different soups to have for lunches. Pretty great! They're also going to give me purees when baby weans and I will need to film them eating to see if they enjoy the same tastes I enjoyed while pregnant.

Dyra · 17/06/2019 16:27

@kyles101 Sad thing is, is that I'm the one who works the longer days. I do 4x 10 hour days + 1 hour commute either side, while he does 4x 8.5 hour days + 1 half day from home with only 30 minute commute either side.

I think the main issue is, is that he's never really had to look after himself, let alone someone else. So while I think he is starting to twig that I can't keep doing it all, he doesn't know what he should do about it. We just need to talk it out.

Glad all is well with the GP @easterbuns1. Are you starting iron tablets? I hope the heartburn stuff they're giving you works well.

Sounds tasty @Lavellan. What flavour soups have you been given?

Lavellan · 17/06/2019 16:48

@dyra it's a long list! I think they want to get maximum range of flavours in there. Today was potato, courgette and kale. There are also some snacks with dried fruits for in between days. First time I've signed up to a study and it seems like I picked a good one.

kyles101 · 17/06/2019 17:12

@Lavellan what a result - free healthy ready meals!!

Dyra · 17/06/2019 18:35

Oooooooh. So what do you have to do? Eat them, rate them according to your own tastes and then they compare to what baby likes later on?

IVEgottheDECAF · 17/06/2019 20:30

WELL

I have just realised if i buy my pram and carrier using amazon baby wishlist i can get 20% off

So i can get pram with carrycot, carseat, footmuff, changing bag and carrier for £640 and it means i can get any of the designs i want!

Hsunshine · 17/06/2019 20:42

@ivegotthedecaf is that the cosatto Wow?

IVEgottheDECAF · 17/06/2019 20:44

Yep! Now i just have to decide which one i want lol

Hsunshine · 17/06/2019 20:49

@ivegotthedecaf I wanted one of those but I could never find it in a store to see. And then I brought a different one... I liked the fox one

IVEgottheDECAF · 17/06/2019 21:07

Currently torn between the grey "dawn chorus" and the "nordik"

Or i could save even more by getting it in "hygge house" but i cant decide if i like it or not!

DustyDoorframes · 17/06/2019 21:09

Gamechanger Decaf!!!

IVEgottheDECAF · 17/06/2019 21:25

I know but how on earth do i decide!

kyles101 · 17/06/2019 21:33

Love all of the cosatto patterns. Including the house one, Nordic probs least favourite out of the three if that's any help? I love it when a pram (getit) comes together Grin

IVEgottheDECAF · 17/06/2019 21:36
Grin

I really like the nordik EXCEPT the green bit on the chasis!

kyles101 · 17/06/2019 21:46

How much cheaper is the hygge? Is there something frivolous necessary that the savi could be put towards?

IVEgottheDECAF · 17/06/2019 21:49

So with the Amazon thing minus the carrier i would also be getting i would be paying around £580 for the dawn chorus or nordik. Can get the hygee for £450 with all same bits (carseat bag footmuff)
