I did it (slightly adjusted the wording - is it OK?)!!! Now all we've got to do is a link from the old one to the new one - I'll leave that to somebody a bit more competent!

By the way, I just go laalalaalalaaa when you guys talk about epidurals/pain relief etc. I really didn't enjoy having one when I had DS but I had to as they had put me on a drip and all sorts and I had lots of complications. Ended up with even more severe migraines for years afterwards too. Didn't have one with DD1 and much preferred the whole experience. If I can get away with it this time, I'm going to try and avoid having one (obviously can't predict how things will go!). Gas & Air me up all the way!!!

Dear all - feeling very out of touch - never seem to get the energy/ chance to write these days.
Anyway, glad everyone sounds pretty good in general.

Emj - shocking comment, but as someone else said, I'm sure she knew you were preggers, and it was probably just a guaranteed way of getting her boyf to say "no, of course not". A deeply silly woman.

I had my own weight related experience this morning as I was crossing a quiet street where I live - a van driver lent out and yelled something like "nice tummy..." (or it could have been "big tummy") followed up with what I think was "have a good day!" WTF?!!? I was left not quite sure whether to take it as a compliment or major insult. The thing is, I was wearing a white t shirt which doesn't leave much to the imagination (bump wise). Anyway, I refuse to let it alter my mood which is fairly upbeat with the nice sunny weather (so far). He certainly looked pretty cheerful as he said it.... ????

Apart from that everything's fine with me - although I am feeling rather tired and looking forward to mat leave - 3 and a half weeks and counting. I seem to get a lull at around 3.30pm and need a sleep which is hard at my desk. I've heard rumour that there is a pregnant ladies room in our building so need to go on a hunt...

Just had another midwife appt and was chuffed to find all well apart from baby is head up, grrrr. Midwife says it's not a prob
at this stage but I can't help thinking it would be nice if it was head down.... will have to start scrubbing floors or whatever you are supposed to do.

Also, PLP - I find I have hand and feet puffiness in the evening. I can get my wedding ring off in the morning, but not evening (unless I put it in cold water, which helps). Oh, don't you just love these glamorous developments?

Belated Happy Birthday Mrs Mar and Happy anniversary Holly. We've our first anniv. at end of August - no sexy underwear for me methinks...

Also, Mrs Mar meant to ask you - you know the pre ecclampsia study at St Georges? Are you still going for tests with that chap (I forget his name). I haven't heard anything, but when I got my bloods back this time the midwife was amazed at all the extra tests that had been carried out on them, and I thought it might be to do with that... I seem to remember you went to the hospital recently for tests - was it for extra tests on your blood?

Anyway, hope everyone's managing to enjoy the bit of sunshine and it's not getting too hot. Sorry about ridiculously long post.
xx

loobybump · 31/07/2007 13:02

DH needs a kick up the butt if you ask me lol, i think my Dp went without it for so long he was worried the night fairy may turn up and remind him of child hood when one had wet dreamies so he had to come to me for some nookie eventually!!! i wont let him do the job himself so he has to ask me for it! LOL! Though i think everyones sex life is a little pants whilst pregnant i cant wait to dress up all sexy again!!!

hannahsaunt · 31/07/2007 13:17

Just wondering when all those things that are meant to stimulate labour actually do make a difference - pineapple, curry, sex, raspberry tea - up until when can they be consumed with impunity and after which point could they get things going?

loobybump · 31/07/2007 13:24

Thats a v good point hannah! I ate a whole pineapple the other night and imo nly 34 weeks so is their a rule saying we shouldn't!

loobybump · 31/07/2007 13:26

Sorry amout my spellings today!

loobybump · 31/07/2007 13:26

ABOUT!!!!

Hopeitwontbebig · 31/07/2007 13:45

Oh my goodness, there is just so much to catch up on!

Lou, sorry to hear about your stay in hospital, has everything settled down now?

MrsFish, your story is brilliant, just brilliant!!! Made my day! Here's for a better journey this weekend huh!

toadstall, glad you're home safe and sound. Wishing you a speedy recovery x

MrsMar, Happy Belated Birthday, hope you had a lovely day

Holly, Happy Anniversary for Sunday too!

Kinki, gag re the fish tanks!! We had a small tragedy in our house yesterday, DS1's gold fish died. The fish was unceremoniously flushed down to 'fishy heaven'! Sorry to hear there are still tensions between you and DH, I do hope things get better for you soon

Vicx, welcome on board!!!!

looby, I've wondered the same thing about pineapples etc. I suspect that in reality the only reason they work towards the end is your body is ready and ripe for labour.

Hope everyone else is ok.

Well my house is still a building site, but progress is going really well. They're laying the floor tiles in the kitchen/diner today. Most of the plastering has been done. Kitchen fitter will be here on Monday to start the kitchen - HOOOOOOOOOORAY!! Time's flying remarkably quickly I have to say!

I put up the baby's crib today, it is sooooooooo cute. Time is a-ticking, these babies will start arriving v soon!! Can you believe it's August tomorrow!

Well I'm off to Tesco in a minute to have some sort of hot meal at the restaurant with my boys. Is anyone else finding that they still feel really full hours and hours after eating?

dal21 · 31/07/2007 13:52

Hello everyone! sorry, no real chance to catch up on all the posts.

Vicx - welcome to the thread! there are soo many of us due in this month!

DH and I have a long weekend coming up and we are taking advantage of the nice weather and heading out of London. Found a lovely hotel on the thames and looking forward to sitting on the terrace watching the ducks float by! Would love to say that i will have a glass of vino also - but I won't!
SO cannot wait - think it may be our last treat away before LO arrives.

Rin - sounds as though it was a shout of appreciation. Some men find pregnant women very sexy...and my baby was head up last appt and the mw or abs werent remotely perturbed. They can spin quite a bit (I have a friend two weeks ahead and one week baby was head down, then the following week was head up again - she is having regular check ups as is high risk...so really wouldnt worry.

Sorry to everyone else who has posted! Have fab afternoons!

Hopeitwontbebig · 31/07/2007 13:56

dal21, the weekend you have planned sounds so perfect. x x x x

Hopeitwontbebig · 31/07/2007 13:57

I'm hoping DH and I can do something for our 9th wedding anniversary which is 2/3 weeks before LO arrives.

MMooMar · 31/07/2007 16:39

Hi all,
Just stopping by to make sure everyone is ok.Fab weather ennit?
( for a change)

Welcome on board Vicx.

MrMar ,happy belated birthday wishes to you, welcome to club 37!(lol)

Not stopping, just showing my face.Going to go and get a shower now as the electric has been off for the best part of the day as they were doing work at the sub station and DS used all the water in the tank for his bath.Feel like a right sweaty betty.

See you later guys...

Nettee · 31/07/2007 16:50

hi everyone, good to have some sunshine at last - I am getting fed up with work - just too tired to do it properly I feel - still only 3 weeks to go now. My baby is also going round but as you say it is early days yet so am trying not to worry at the moment.

Have at last got round to digging our DS's neutral newborn clothes - so tiny and cute - will have to start on the washing and ironing before long. Have also found some nappies and car seat has arrived so I think we only need a new cot mattress now - will have to get DS out of the cot and into a bed before this one arrives. All very exciting - just need to find the time to get sorted.

dal21 · 31/07/2007 17:01

Thanks HIWBB!! We hope it'll make us switch off! heres hoping!

Nettee am with you - finish on the 17th but have some cheeky days off which means I only have 9 days of work left. We'll get through it! Not long to go til we are on here posting all day! Ha ha

My midwife called me with blood results - no antibodies in blood (am rhesus neg) so that is great news. But iron levels have dropped slightly so have been told to up the spatone to three times a day and start taking my solgar iron supplements (2 a day) - seems a lot, but guess they are very gentle ones so makes sense. Hope they dont go bunging me up (sorry if tmi but am normally quite regular!)

Lets all hope the weather stays this nice and gets no hotter!

thebigSea · 31/07/2007 17:50

hi all, good to see you vicx.
As we speak I am trying to negotiate bedroom tidying and an early night with a dvd. It will descend into 'it's not fair why can't we do it tomorrow' etc etc.
grrrr.
It's all about choice mrsmar, what sort of people you and dh are and perhaps how many lo's you would like to have, I guess the more you have, the more organised [and strict] you need to be and toeing the line becomes more of a necessity.{spelt right?]
I am in favour of routines, I personally like them, but I'm not very strict about them per se, just the sleep ones iyswim. But I do expect good manners and help [ie their beds and bedroom]

Sermon over, I'm cooling down now.

Rin23 · 31/07/2007 17:51

Thanks Dal - yes I'm sure you're right about the baby's position.

Also, have a great long weekend away! I am slightly dreading coming weekend as have MIL, plus sister in law and her husband to stay. It's other sister in law's wedding so I shouldn't be so mean but I can't face having people round when a) it's as much as I can do not to look a sight out and about let alone at home, and b) it means I have to talk/ make conversation, generally do stuff.

Oh well. At least the sun is shining!

Hopeitwontbebig · 31/07/2007 17:56

dal21, that's great news about your blood test results. TBH I've not heard anything at all about my 28 wk bloods, I've just assumed that everything is ok , I'm sure they would have contacted me if there was a problem (?) Wow that seems like a lot of iron. Hmm, I need to take some spatone too, I did have a sore tummy a few weeks ago, got bunged up, not sure whether it was down to the spatone or just a coincidence.

Nettee, it's exciting looking at the newborn clothes isn't it! Don't blame you for getting fed up at work. I remember counting down the days when I was having my other too.

Ooh Mmoomar, thought I could smell something

I've been sitting in the sun for an hour this afternoon and felt quite overwhelmed by the heat I have to say! I normally LOVE the sun. Is anyone else finding that they're tanning a lot quicker than usual? I'm sure it's something to do with hormones and skin pigment. I've got really rosey cheeks. People keep telling me I really suit being pregnant, I keep telling them I ain't doin it again!!!!!!!!

Hopeitwontbebig · 31/07/2007 17:58

Rin23, I'm so with you on the making conversation thing. I'm reeeeeeeeeeeeally struggling with straight forward words for things, so my sentences become very disjointed. I was trying to ask my son to pick up his jeans and put them in the wash the other day - do you think I could think of the word 'jeans' FGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

emj23 · 31/07/2007 17:58

Evening all

Hopeitwontbebig, it's definitely not only you on that eating thing, I always get less hungry when the weather's warm anyway, but now with being this big as well, I really do feel like I've only just finished eating something even if I haven't eaten in hours. Weird, isn't it?

Dal21, my iron levels have dropped too, I was told to eat loads of spinach and watercress - bleeeurgh, I can't do it. I have been eating cereals with added iron (like Bran Flakes and Weetabix) and dried apricots which are the only things on the list of iron-rich foods I can stand. No idea if it'll work, but I'm not sure about taking iron tablets either. Hmmm.

Welcome Vicx!

MrsMar · 31/07/2007 18:24

'ello there everyone!

Rin - I did get my blood results back from Dr Nama at St Georges. He emailed the results back, they all looked a bit meaningless to me but he said everything looked fine so I left it at that. I've had loads of extra bloods done, every time I go to the midwives or docs they're surprised at the bunch of little sheets of paper at the back of mat notes. Tons of wierd tests in there. One thing I'm amazed at is my iron level... 12.3!!! I'm not chewing my way through a bag of nails, so I must be getting it from somewhere! Next set of bloods will be done in week 36. I hope you survive the small talk this weekend!

thebigsea - you're so right about the sleeping and manners discipline. I'm sure I'll be better once this one comes along, it's just my nieces who wrap me round their fingers! I'm sure when it's your own and the misbehaviour is day in day out then you find it easier to grit your teeth and impose some discipline!

Dal - I hope your iron levels improve. I wish I could tell you what I'm doing to get mine so high, lots of wholemeal bread maybe? I do make my own (in a breadmaker, I'm no Delia!) so maybe that's the difference? I've been eating quite a few eggs (well, about 3 a week) so maybe that's helped.

Enjoy the sunshine this evening, I'm at work until 10.30pm and I have only seen about 30 mins of daylight today.. boo hoo! I've just peaked out a window and it looks lovely.

xx

Vicx · 31/07/2007 18:31

Thanks for the welcome messages!

Can't believe how many of us there are due in sept. Looks like we all had v busy decembers ;)

Hannahsaunt & loobybump... re: pinapples. Apparently you have to eat 7 whole really sharp pinapples before it actually works. (as if anyone's gonna do that!?!) The idea is you end up with severe stomach cramps and the cramps bring on labour. So the odd bite of a ripe juicy one is just fine, which is fab cos i can't stop eating pinapples or snickers bars!

Hopeitwon'tbebig... actually i've noticed i'm tanning a bit quicker than normal and have bright red rosey cheeks from a trip to the park with the kids.

My friend just brought her 10 day old teeny-weeny baby over to our house. I completely forgot how small and dry baby's come out! And i totally forgot how bad newborn poo smells!!

Vx

lou031205 · 31/07/2007 18:35

Well, exhausted today, but think that is being nearly 34 weeks pregnant!

Everything seems to have settled. Baby is very prominent - probably becuase I have lowish amniotic fluid levels.

Too hot today!!

Rin23 · 31/07/2007 18:46

HIWBB - yes talking is a struggle for me sometimes - not ideal when I have to do interviews for work ? sometimes I want to just start with "by the way, I'm pregnant so if I sound like I am having a problem speaking it's not that I'm having a heart attack, it's just that my brain hasn't caught up with my mouth." Never had the guts to say it yet though.

Thanks for that info Mrs Mar - I am assuming this is why I had all the extra tests even though I didn't actually go to the hospital. Also, my midwife reckons the new birthing centre will be open at St Georges by sept so that's quite exciting! 12.3 for iron is fab - mine was only 11.5, I was thinking I must up my spinach uptake - got an avocado wrap (with spinach in it) from pret for lunch to make a bit of effort. I like spinach, but you can hardly taste it in these - thinking of you Emj.

Also re tanning HIWBB - I think I am more susceptible. I normally never burn but have found myself getting quite pink - specially in the chest area (decolletage, not topless!!, can you imagine?). Also re bloods - I'm sure they would have told you if there was a prob - at least, that's what my midwife said today.

Anyway, off home now hope everyone has a good evening!

PurpleLostPrincess · 31/07/2007 19:13

Hello all!

kinki - hope things get better with DH! If you're both stubborn it can be difficult to make but up you'll get there! Sorry I missed your birthday, hope it went well! xx

MrsMar - sorry I missed your birthday too. I do worry about you stuck in that little room, hope you're OK. How long till you stop working now? (you've probably said but pg brain is in gear atm!).

Vicx - welcome! My bf has a newborn and she is sooo gorgeous - makes me get all broody then I remember I'm gonna have one of them soon - yay!

Rin23 - I stopped wearing my wedding ring ages ago I'm afraid lol! I tried wearing it with my engagement ring on a necklace but it broke so I'm completely jewellery free. (classic example there - took me ages to think of what word to use!). I'm sure that bloke said 'nice tummy' to you and it was a compliment! Sounds like you'll have a houseful this weekend - make sure they let you rest! (easier said than done!).

HIWBB - glad the house is coming alone nicely! I can't wait to put up the cotbed and see it all ready... I find that I'm full for ages to the point where it hurts but then I get suddenly hungry and I HAVE to eat there and then!?

dal21 - have a lovely weekend with DH! Sounds really lovely!

MMooMar - hope you enjoyed your shower?

Well, we've been to Aldershot Lido today with the kids (DH bunked off work ). It was a lovely day and I've caught the sun - I have to agree I seem to tan a bit quicker so I've been using a slightly higher factor cream. Got to sit with my feet in the cool water and it was bliss! The rest of the time I just sat and watched the kids - hope we get more hot weather like this! Met a lady in the loos who is due the day before me, small world!

It's our wedding anniversary (5 years) on 16th August so trying to think of something nice but cheap to do. Only problem is that DH is funny about going out but he usually makes the effort on our anniversaries bless him!

I'm afraid I'm a bit of a sargeant major around the house with the kids and discipline! I've had a friends little girl coming over in the daytime while her mum works (she is bf's with my DD) and even though I've kept my regimental thing going, she seems to think the world of me bless her! Routine is everything ime! DH is worse than me but he doesn't seem to get the routine bit - we all have our strengths and weaknesses! Will be interesting to see what he's like when his own lo comes along - he loves mine as his own but I still think we'll be able to see a difference!

Anyway, take care all - I'm off to make a late tea...

I do try and have iron rich foods - but problem i think is absorption of the iron. My levels were 11.5 and have dropped to 11.1 now. MW says not worryingly low but am going to take what she has prescribed as i know low iron levels can lead to problems post delivery in terms of energy etc. will take what she says and see how i get on. 12.3 is fab - keep it up. Re the results, I always follow about 3-5 days after the bloods are done. Some tests I think they call you back automatically - but others have to be checked. Funnily enough - have had heaps of energy recently so am surprised that levels are lower.

On the home decorating front bathroom will be finished tomorrow! hoorah! we get our house back!
