I did it (slightly adjusted the wording - is it OK?)!!! Now all we've got to do is a link from the old one to the new one - I'll leave that to somebody a bit more competent!

By the way, I just go laalalaalalaaa when you guys talk about epidurals/pain relief etc. I really didn't enjoy having one when I had DS but I had to as they had put me on a drip and all sorts and I had lots of complications. Ended up with even more severe migraines for years afterwards too. Didn't have one with DD1 and much preferred the whole experience. If I can get away with it this time, I'm going to try and avoid having one (obviously can't predict how things will go!). Gas & Air me up all the way!!!

Hello everyone... I'm seriously thinking we should rename this thread!! I'm sweating like the proverbial pig!! So ladylike! I'm working today, and I never thought I'd say this, but thank God!! It's very nice to be in air conditioned office, the drive in was hellish though, tooooo hot!

Happy belated birthday Edie. Lots of Leos on here aren't there, or am I just imagining it? It sounds like you had a great day, but I know how you feel about the post birthday blues, I'm feeling horribly old!!

PLP - I'm glad your dh is being so positive, that's got to be a really important first step. I hope he gets some cbt and manages to get back on his feet, figuratively speaking, very soon. I did have a chuckle about the postie putting all your clothes in the garage. They are naughty aren't they? My sister has given me all her unisex newborn clothes the other day and I spent the afternoon sorting little sleepsuits out. It's great isn't it? Enjoy!

HIWBB - sorry to hear about your dh's setback, I hope it isn't too major, it sounds awful to me. Poor thing must be so miserable. I'm glad your kitchen is coming along nicely, it's great when you can see the light at the end of the tunnel isn't it? I hope you get some sleep.

toadstool - poor thing, you sound like you're in terrible pain. I spent 8 weeks in a hip to ankle plaster cast once and I hated it, and I wasn't even pg!! It's so uncomfortable. I hope the scan goes well, I'm sure seeing the baby will cheer you up no end!

TC - I remember you!! well done on finding such a great doula.

canadianmum - can I ask how you know your baby is breech? I've been convinced mine is but my gp and midwife disagree. I've been told that 33 weeks is too early to tell as there's not enough baby!

What ever he's doing he's definitely sitting to the left side, I'm really uncomfortable lying on my left side as he squashes something down there! I've also worked out that sitting in a hard chair for two hours at a time makes him kick my cervix something chronic. I discovered that after sitting at an ante natal class yesterday and then in a restaurant yesterday evening. Both times he responded with a bout of firm kicks to my most tenderest parts! Ouch!

sophus - I'm glad your mum will be able to go home soon, always so much nicer to be in your own surroundings. I'm so sorry the prognosis isn't good, it's great you can have some really precious time together. I'm sure it's a time you'll never ever forget. I hope you manage to contain Bert the worlds feistiest kitten he sounds very cute, but what a terror!

Well I hope everyone isn't sweltering too much. I've cooled down considerably sitting here typing this in my office. Have a lovely weekend (what's left of it!) everyone, take care
xx

amyclaramum · 05/08/2007 17:12

Hi Everyone - just popped in to say I'm back from my holiday ! We all had a lovely time making sandcastles and paddling in the sea - well actually I sat in a chair most of the time ! My dd2 was fab getting buckets of sea water for me to put my fat feet into ! Hope everyone ok - will read through posts to catch up now !

MrsMar · 05/08/2007 17:18

glad you had a good holiday, sounds idyllic!!

dal21 · 05/08/2007 17:47

Hi everyone

CanMum - mine is still breech - well i think it is. feeling lots of movement near my cervix - have another check up a week tues, so i guess we will see then.

Sophus - so sorry to hear about your mum. I second what the HIWBB said. Someone I know went through something similar and took a camcorder along to the sessions she haf with her mum. All the chats and memories are stored on there for her and her DC's to watch and remember. Lots of hugs for you!

PLP - fingers crossed your DH gets some CBT - it is fantastic!

Hello to everyone else - hope you all had good weekends and the heat didnt make you suffer too much! should be cooler as the week goes on so fingers crossed for us preggos!

MrsMar · 05/08/2007 18:31

why oh why oh why did I leave my remegel at home??? All last week I had a packet in my bag, and not one bout of heartburn... today, in work, no remegel and terrible heartburn all day! arrggghhhh!!

Shall we have a sweepstake as to how many of these babies turn? That's if they are actually breech, someone (ceolas I think) posted on the pregnancy site saying she thought hers was breech, same signs really, very low kicks and movement, nothing higher up at all, and it turned out hers was ceph after all. Do they normally try and work out the position at the 36 week appt by palpating alone?

dal21 · 05/08/2007 18:52

Hi MrsM - can you get to a cold glass of milk? or does that not help.

Mine was definitely breech at around 28 weeks as was on the scan, when mw checked aeound 30 weeks - she still thought the head was up top. It really will be interesting to see how many turn before labour! I really do wonder why babies lie the way they do, it must be comfy to be head up tbh!

PurpleLostPrincess · 05/08/2007 18:58

Oh MrsMar, I know all too well what you mean - sooo many times I've been stranded with the most awful hearburn and no way of relieving it!! Would drinking some milk or eating a banana help if you can get out of the office to the canteen? (if its even open today!?). Hope you find something!!

Sophus - so sorry to hear that the prognosis isn't good with your mum. I echo what the others have said and send you lots of hugs at this difficult time... So glad you've given up work sooner! Your kitten sounds like a little rascal bless him!

Welcome home amyclaramum! Glad you had a nice time, sounds lovely! We went to Aldershot Lido yesterday and it was lovely being able to paddle my fat feet in the cool water. I even went into the pool a few times and managed to get into the big blow up ring and lean forwards into it like I was laying on my front - sooooo relaxing!!!!!

Edie - sounds like you had a lovely birthday!

thomcat - welcome back and how exciting about ordering the pool and getting a doula!!

toadstool - so glad you will be complaining, you go for it!!

Dal21 - how was London?

HIWBB - hope DH comes home soon - how was the weekend without the DC's?

Well, my DC's have gone off for a whole week with their dad on holiday in Somerset!!! Every year I look forward to it but every time I end up missing them soooooo much!!! I have to keep focussed now on this house and taking the opportunity to get stuff done. Although DH is signed off work, I'm hoping he will help me get stuff done - I reckon it will help him get his head sorted out as one of the problems/pressures for him atm is being ready for this lo.

Mum has offered to come round and help with some cleaning following our 'heated discussion' the other day!!! I'll let you know how it goes!!

Only got a few hours sleep last night - how did you lot sleep?

I reckon this lo has been going around and around because I do sometimes get days of what feels like kicks right down in my cervix but most days the kicks are high up above my belly button and at the sides... I'll have to check when my next mw appt is so I can ask her...

Take care all xxxxxxxxxxx

dal21 · 05/08/2007 19:11

PLP - i live in london, we were escaping for the night to this lovely little bolthole in sonning and it was lovely!! made me stop exhausting myself doing DIY and the bedroom had aircon too which meant a lovely nights sleep!

Have a fab week off - try and get lots of rest and lie ins. a little chill time with DH may help lots and then you can do a little bit of the more boring stuff each day.

I have 2 weeks left at work and have decided to spend some of them working from home, so will hopefully fly by!

canadianmum · 05/08/2007 19:23

I slept badly in this heat last night too, plus DH and my DC's had their first night camping in the garden and i was on my own in the house which made me weirdly nervous for some reason. Hopefully tonight will be better .

mrsmar - I found out at 32 wk scan that my bubba is breech, and GP last week seemed to think breech or transverse. Just spoke to my Mum on the phone and she said that she thinks I was probably breech until just days before my very easy birth (I was no.3). I think she is just trying to be comforting as she can never remember anything about my childhood normally!! On another subject - has your DH been to Georges yet? Mine hasn't and I keep intending to take him for the tour but the times are a bit difficult, must get round to it!

Edie - thanks so much for the tens website address, I will definitely book one in if it looks like I might have a VBAC. Fingers crossed!!

PLP - enjoy your week without children, sounds like heaven but I know I would miss mine too! We have a night away next week which should be interesting as MIL is doing her first overnighter and sounds a bit nervous about it. Have called in BIL to help, which he thinks is terribly funny.

Sophus - so sorry to hear about your Mum, what a difficult situation at an already emotional time, I hope your LO gets to spend some time with her.

sophus · 05/08/2007 19:28

Thanks all. Sunshine and a cool family help a lot.

Main problem with Bert is that he's a she - so she is living up to her tomboy name. Haven't plucked up courage yet to tell DP that she's pulled down his shower curtain, think i will feign ignorance (and maybe a deep nap) when he goes for his shower soon and much swearing ensues.

And to cap it all my horse is lame - well he is just going to have to wait a while before he gets dealt with. Only so many crises one can deal with at 8 months.

Phew what a scorcher today.

S
Xx

MrsMar · 05/08/2007 20:10

Aw sophus, I hope your horse isn't too badly injured or poorly! You are dealing with so much right now. I hope Bert starts behaving HERself soon!

I guess that's the difference between me and the other breech ladies.... I haven't had a scan since 22 weeks so I actually haven't a clue what position he's really in. I'm just making assumptions based on the low movements.

Thanks for the top tips about heartburn dal and PLP. I had a cuppa and a banana. It kinda helped, so gulping down water every time I get a lovely surge of acid has been helping. Just another two more hours at work til I can get my hands on that remegel!!!

Canadianmum - I haven't been on the St Georges tour let alone dh!! Really must get organised! The hours aren't great, dh is never home from work by 6pm (I don't know anyone in London who is!) and 9.30am on a saturday morning is a bit ouch for me (can you tell I don't have children yet???) Dh has been with me for my scans so he knows where the Lanesborough Wing is and where Fetal medicine is... but neither of us have a clue where the labour ward is. I'm going to wait until I've started my maternity leave, cos by then there's a chance I might be able to peep at the new maternity unit too!

PLP enjoy your week with dh.. it sounds like just the thing you need right now, a chance to be close with just the two of you, plenty of chats and cuddles. I can imagine how much you must be missing your dcs though.

I hope everyone manages to sleep in the heat...

sophus · 05/08/2007 20:31

Chewing gum.
It's my life saver - keeps all the indigestion and nausea at bay.
Except that i am beginning to look like a square-jawed squaddie.
But it really, really works.

MrsMar · 05/08/2007 20:56

ooh, I'll try that sophus. I quite fancy the idea of getting a nice firm jaw at the same time as getting rid of the heartburn!

MrsBumblebee · 05/08/2007 22:27

Hi all, just back from holidays. Had a very nice week in the Yorkshire moors. We were with the in-laws, who have been driving me a bit nuts, but I can't really complain seeing as they paid for the holiday ! Anyway, I was very glad my emergency hospital bag came back without having to be opened.

I can't believe how many messages there were to catch up with - we'll be on another new thread before we know it!!

Sophus, I was so sorry to hear about your mum. Nothing to add to what others have said, really, but I'm thinking of you.

Off to bed now. Sleep tight everyone.

Chattyhan · 06/08/2007 09:44

Had an ok weekend at the in laws - unfortunateley little sis has a load of friends round which destroyed the peace a bit and i had to sleep on a futon which wasn't ideal but otherwise had my meals cooked for me and ds bathed and put to bed so not all bad!

Sophus - definately agree you did the right thing re work. Sorry things with your mum don't look good - it is so awful that you have to deal with this at the same time as having a baby - thinking of you xx

plp - we are very close! Never been to Aldershot lido and it's only 10 mins from me would you recommend it for a 2 1/2 yr old - i've also heard there's not much shade!

I'm not doing very well with the heat! Got really stressed out yesterday and very ratty! Just felt hot and uncomfortable and 2 hrs in the car didn't help - didn't sleep very well despite the fan and nearly strangled dp when i discovered he'd closed the window when he got in last night

dal21 · 06/08/2007 13:05

Hey everyone! sorry havent read all the posts. But have a question. Some of the other threads are exchanging email addresses etc to make sure everyone can stay in touch. What does everyone think about doing something similar on here? Or are you happy to stick with trying to stay in touch on a postnatal thread?

PurpleLostPrincess · 06/08/2007 13:23

Hiya!

dal21, I'm happy to swap addresses, count me in! How do we go about doing that without putting them on here for all and sundry to read?

chattyhan - I can't believe they made you sleep on a futon but glad you survived the inlaws!! Yes we've taken my nephew to the lido (now nearly 5 but very small) quite a few times over the past year or two as there's a little pool for the little ones. Loads of people take their toddlers and babies. The shade can vary but its there. We've been discussing it for when SIL brings her 5 month old baby next time... There's a big tree that covers the little pool so you'd have to get there early to get near to it and you might have to shuffle around as the sun moves around but the little pool is mostly covered throughout the day (it opens at 10am and shuts at 7pm). We take a beach tent and lots of people take big umberellas etc. Hope you try it and have fun!

MrsBumbleBee - glad you survived the inlaws and welcome home!

We've already cleared out 2 cupboards this morning in preparation for moving the computer out of the office to make way for decorating the nursery so we're getting there!! I'll check in later...

PLP xxxxx

Afternoon everyone,

glad you survived the inlaws chattyhan and MrsB and had a good week away.

I'm happy to swap emails too... just let me know where and when!

I'm having the clumsiest day ever today, I've dropped, spilt and broken everything I've touched. If I drop one more thing and have to squash my tummy to pick it up again I'll scream!! Still at least I'm on a day off and it's not too hot!

Have a lovely day everyone, I'll check in later too xxx

dal21 · 06/08/2007 14:48

i dont mind setting up a temp email address with my bt account (actually dont mind using my real one but am sure there is a reason why that isnt a good idea)

then you can all email me your email addresses - if you want to rough location of where you live and mobile nos??? and once compiled, I can email out the whole list. does that work?

or is there a private messaging function on mumsnet we can use? i will investigate!

clainne · 06/08/2007 15:42

Hi
just checking in on my first day of maternity leave - bliss! Sadly dh left me with quite a long list of jobs to do while he is at work, but so far I have managed to fit in one trip to a cafe for cake and a cappucino, so that is a good start! Hopefully now will have time to catch up on all the messages since the new thread started...

MrsMar · 06/08/2007 16:58

clainne - that sounds like my day of doing chores... I'm just sitting down now with a cuppa and a piece of carrot cake looking at the ironing and doing my best to ignore it!!

Dal - I'd be careful about putting an email address you use on here, I'm sure spammers can get them somehow or something. If you are able to set up a temporary email account I'm sure that's better.

dal21 · 06/08/2007 19:25

Rightio - have set up a gmail account that you can mail into that will be used just for this. For those who are interested in staying in touch away from mnet once bubs have arrived (I hear quick support texts to those in the same boat is a godsend) - feel free to mail me with the details you are happy to share.

Mobile No
Email Address
Location - rough i.e. NW6/ N3 etc
Mnet 'handle/ ID'
Estimated due date of LO.

Credit has to go to EJT on the the Oct thread who is doing it with the ladies there. Lets see who mails through with details as people may prefer to stay in touch via postnatal threads on here.

Will give it about a week before sending out a mail with all the details on.

contact me on picklesgalore at gmail dot com

SeamonstEr · 06/08/2007 20:19

hello all, hope you enjoyed your weekend? m/w visit went well, next one will be to discuss birth plan and combine ante natal visit and hopefully drop off the birth pack.
not quite so sore today so all is good. Have started on the raspberryleaf tea, anything to help.

Hopeitwontbebig · 06/08/2007 21:14

Evening all!

DH is home -YAY!!!! V happy

dal - well done on the email address idea.

MrsMar - I'm with you on the clumsiness thing, so annoying when it's difficult to pick things up!

Purple - how are you coping without DC? I'm REALLY missing mine, but they're having a fantastic time down in Somerset with their Grandma. I'm just itching for one of them to say they want to come home, then I'll be in the car like a shot!

I went on the hospital tour at the Oxford Radcliffe tonight. I think I'm now going to deliver in Banbury. There really doesn't seem to be any advantage to going to Oxford, it's further away aswell.

Hope everyone is feeling well, sorry if I've missed anyone.

lou031205 · 06/08/2007 21:17

Hi everyone! It's just been soo hot. I can't sleep because it's so hot, and then I push the covers off, but I've never been able to sleep unless I have the covers on, so still don't sleep, lol. I finally bought a fan yesterday (Tesco value £15 - really good & powerful) and had slightly more sleep last night.

Everything more settled here, but now that my fluid levels are low, I have to have weekly fluid index scans & two-weekly growth scans, midwife wants to see me every week and consultant next week.

I am grateful they are monitoring me so closely, but at almost 35 weeks, I think I just want them to say "right let's induce you soon" - 37 weeks would be ideal for me. But I know that I'm just impatient!

Sorry to hear of hospital happenings with some of you - speedy recoveries ordered!!

Lou
