Good luck - will keep my fingers crossed. Let us know how you get on xxx

preggersagain · 27/07/2007 14:15

calm down studentmum, i know its stressful, but try to stay as calm as you can, how many weeks are you?

imjin100 · 27/07/2007 14:16

good luck at the hospital studentmum, will be thinking of you.

studentmum1 · 27/07/2007 14:16

thank you xxx partner is coming home from work now to pick me up xxx

monthlymayhem · 27/07/2007 14:30

Hi Studentmum try to stay calm (easier said than done I know), hope everything goes ok, let us know xx

sweetkitty · 27/07/2007 15:05

hi all phoned the hospital this morning told them I had some more bleeding and lied a bit about some stomach cramps was told I could come up and get checked out but there was no way I could get a scan today theres no EPU drop in around here either. Have changed my scan appt until Wednesday as DP can look after the DDs. Had a tiny amount of brown blood this morning but nothing since then so keeping everything crossed.

studentmum - thinking of you I'm having the same thing brown discharge have been told not to worry unless it goes bright red and I have stomach cramps, easier said than done though.

wendy - sorry I didn't know this was your second, you sound ideal for a homebirth but check out that site theres loads of stories on it from people who have had great births and some from people who have had things go wrong too. I found it great when deciding on DD2's birth.

I've had 3 pregnancies in 3 areas now and they have all been different. I was in SE London and had a nuchal fold with DD1 on the NHS. With DD2 it was the triple blood test. DB3 I think has the misfortune of being born in a really crap area maternity wise.

hello to everyone else I'm sure I will be back later x

papaya · 27/07/2007 15:42

hello all

TMI alert for anyone feeling sick! well i woke up this morning to the cat being sick I managed to move her just in time which made things worse and she was sick as i moved (ran) with her trying to get her to the back door. So the hallway, kithcen and utility then got it...thank goodness DH was here to clean it up What does anyone reccomend for feeling sea sick all the time? Is that what morning sickness feels like? I dont think I really had it with DD. I only feel ok when I am nibbling on biscuits or drinking something? but i really dont want to put any weight on yet so i dont want to eat all the time! can anyone reccommend anything?

sweetkitty - i cant believe they cant get you in sooner? Is there another hospital anywhere near you where you could ring? I think it sounds promosing that it seems to have stopped though?

wendyredhead - I live about 50 mins from east keal!! 15 min other side of Boston!! The breyford studio were fab, the scan we had was only 75! which i thought was a bargain and if everything stays ok with this little one then i will go again at some point Athough its given me great reaasurance I think its made the preganancy seem so much more real at a very early stage and I am not sure whether thats a good thing for me or a bad thing. I am just crossing everything until 12 weeks xxxx

studentmum - hope everything goes ok this afternoon xx

lcy - you were right last night i did forget about what was inside me once i saw the baby (or should i say bean!!) on the screen!

Brazilianmum · 27/07/2007 15:48

Hi all. I am new here and new to all of it as it's my first one.

I have been feeling queasy a lot throughout the day and very tired. But it hasn't put me off food. However I just crave carbs, pasta, pizza, bread and anything with lot's of cheese. At least I am not craving sweet things.

I am 9 weeks gone adn due in early March. Been to see the doctor and the midwife and got my book. By the way for first timers like me, I know it's a long way off, but my friend said if you want to keep a copy of your book, make sure you photocopy it before you go to hospital to have the baby as they keep the book.

I work, if you can call it that at the moment, because I am so struggling to keep motivated. But I have events booked and a trip to Hong Kong so must get my arse in gear otherwise nothing will happen.

Anyway, all the best to all of you.

preggersagain · 27/07/2007 15:50

papaya- try sea bands- elastic wrist bands with an accupressure button
www.sea-band.com/UK/uk_seaband.htm

papaya · 27/07/2007 16:15

thank you preggersagain I didnt know they existed, will definately be giving those a try xx

waiting4bambino · 27/07/2007 16:50

Papaya - don't want to p* on your chips but i got the Sea Bands and they did absolutely nothing!!!!!! I was sick when i had them on, and sick when i had them off, i even wore them constantly for days, even overnight and there was no improvement! I got them from the chemist, save yourself £7 and don't bother!!!! I have had terrible nausea and diarrhoea, I've even discovered I've got piles today! so I guess this trimester just has to be put up with and there is no cure for it! Here's to the next one!

Lcy · 27/07/2007 17:18

Hi Brazilianmum - i am afirst timer too - your work day sounds pretty much like mine at mo.

I was feeling really smug today because i havent been feeling to sick - then got collared by the gossipy neighbour who wears really strong perfume and whack back comes the nausea!

Studentmum1 any news?

merryberry · 27/07/2007 17:35

ah, but they are working for me, the sea bands! the sickness doesn't completely go, but it dials down a big notch. have had them for 2 days now.

hello brazilianmum

skidoodle · 27/07/2007 19:51

fingers crossed for you studentmum, hope you're doing OK.

welcome brazilianmum there are a few of us first timers on here too, so you'll have some understanding as well as all the fab advice from the experienced moms.

I still haven't heard anything from the hospital I'm meant to be going to. Not sure whether to be worried about that or not. I guess right now I'm just figuring they'll get to me eventually. If I don't hear anything in a couple of weeks I guess I'll get back in touch with my GP.

brazilianmum, I'm totally craving sweet things, but not sure I can blame that on pg, I'm a bit of a sweet tooth.

derah, 3madboys, sweetkitty: I'm also having a lot of discharge. It's kind of gross, but I'm used to it now. Don't even bother to run to the loo to check for blood anymore.

sweetkitty: should we not be having sex? is it a risk to the pregnancy? we have a couple of times only, but I do get cramps afterwards so wasn't sure whether it was the best idea. i never heard you couldn't though.

I hope all is well with your scan and you don't spend too much of the weekend worrying.

studentmum1 · 27/07/2007 20:31

hiya, i have just got back from hospital! 5 hours! i had lots of tests and i feel like a human pin cushion. they can't tell me anything and have booked me in for an early scan on sunday. they say it mite not show up as anything tho coz i'm only 5 weeks gone. they say its worth a try. lovely peole helping me and i feel nervous but at ease with what will be will be, theres nothing i can do at the mo! thank you all for your lovely coments xxx

monthlymayhem · 27/07/2007 21:18

Hi Studentmum1, glad to hear they are giving you another scan and fingers crossed for Sunday xx

Hello Brazilianmum, I'm a first timer too I also travel alot with work and have been lucky so far with no morning sickness (touching wood as I type that!). This site has been invaluable for tips and advice, and everyone is lovely!

Anyway just ordered a very unhealthy Chinese and might treat myself to a few sips of wine

sweetkitty · 27/07/2007 21:57

Studentmum - glad you feel they are helping you and best of luck for the scan on Sunday, I may be wrong (theres many on here who have more experience than me) but I thought the earliest you could have a scan was about 6 weeks????

welcome and congratulations brazilianmum

skidoodle - no sex is perfectly fine in pregnancy it's just I want to be extra careful with having the bleed, I won't risk it until after 12 weeks when things settle down a bit, in saying that the SPD kicks in about 15 weeks and makes things very difficult in that department, poor DP will be on rations forever now! Serves him right men get let off so easy, one (small) contribution and thats them done, no feeling sick constantly, growing to teh size of a small whale, not being able to see your nether regions, heartburn, Braxton Hicks, swelling up, labour, post birth bleeding and breastfeeding sorry went off on a rant there

papaya - I don't think they do EPU's up here (Scotland) it's also made more difficult by having 2 LOs in tow too, my family never help out so it's pretty much me and them 24/7 oh and DP too, gets me down a lot but not much I can do (I know and I'm having another one!)

monthlymayhem/brazilian mum - what line of work are you both in that you travel a lot? Just being nosy, I used to be a food safety auditor and that took me all over the UK and Europe visiting factories, had to stop at 20 weeks with DD1 as it was getting difficult doing the inspections. I didn't go back to it after DD1 was born as it wasn't really compatible with having a baby and I couldn't do it part time.

Had another tiny bit of brown discharge but it was really tiny so am not overly concerned, think it's a good sign I'm still feeling sick. I also feel a bit itchy and tender downstairs too (has anyone else got this) sometimes I get it after my period so put it down to hormones? You would think being through this twice before I would be an expert but everyone is different.

MerlinsBeard · 27/07/2007 22:02

too many things to catch up on!especially as i don't want to be officially on the thread until i have seen a heartbeat

Hope everyone is ok.

Is it my imagination or am i bloated in the evenings already?! Am 5/6 weeks. Have nausea which i am still telling myself is in my head...hoping this gets easier soon

studentmum1 · 27/07/2007 22:20

no, the doctor said, most hospitals won't allow scans until after 6 weeks but he said they were more flexable here. he did warn me there was a chance we won't see anything but was prepared to try so that it could put my mind at ease.

MerlinsBeard · 27/07/2007 22:22

student, when i had my m/c the sac was 6 week size and i was told that they could definatly say that i was or wasn't miscarrying as it was to oearly to tell.

They will not scan here even a day under 6 weeks.

studentmum1 · 27/07/2007 22:25

really? do you not think i'll find anything out on sunday?

MerlinsBeard · 27/07/2007 22:27

i doubt you will find out anything conclusive. AT the first scan with the m/c they could see a sac but nothing in it but said that wasnt unusual for that stage of pregnancy anyway.

I wouldn't build your hopes up too much - sorry.

studentmum1 · 27/07/2007 22:31

no, thank you for telling me, i'd rather no now instead of building my hopes up for an actual result on sunday. i was just hoping, i'm sat here with stomach cramps still and they are getting worse... more stabbing pains now instead of general aches.

sweetkitty · 27/07/2007 22:43

aww studentmum I really feel for you I'm kind of going through the same thing trying to remain positive.

The hospital sounds really supportive though which is a good thing.

wendyredhead · 27/07/2007 22:49

Ah, studentmum, sorry to hear you're going through this. Glad they were really nice to you - makes a difference. Just take it easy between now and Sunday - rest up and don't lift anything heavy...you sound a little happier so try to stay +++ xx

Congrats Brazilianmum - another pukeyhead!!! I'm just waiting for it to hit me hard but I didn't get sick once during my 1st pregnancy so hoping it's exactly the same - I sailed through that one. Musn't get TOO complacent though..!

Papaya: can you see me waving!! wow 75 is the cheapest I've heard anyone mention - see Lincs has something going for it LOL. When did you get that done and was it also the blood tests and nose measurement? Yeah you're right, it would make everything seem more real because right now I'm jealous of the pukeyheads I swear because that makes it seem much more real. I don't feel pregnant at all. with you on that...roll on 12 wks...

Sweetkitty: so glad to hear your bleeding's stopped. Cheers for home birth link which I'll check out when DH ain't around as he's fed up with me hogging the PC! I'm really thinking it might be an option. Will also speak to m/w about it - not sure if they have opinions on this.

HolidaysQueen: have I sussed you out then ? You made me laugh with your test result analogy - you sound as bad as my mother for worrying! Sometimes I think (as does mother) that I'm TOO laid back. I now look back at how casually I raised my DS and wonder how on earth he's still alive and unblemished to this day!!!!!!!!! I'll swap you half my chillin if you give me half your worryhead! I think you're making the right decision re the nuchal scan! I like to analyse EVERYTHING. I'm a nightmare when I go on holiday - I do spreadsheets I swear! The girl guides would have loved me!

Derah: oh yes! I keep running to check my knicks for blood but it's all gooey and sticky and wet.

merryberry: yeah, why is that? it's like conceiving and pregnancy - nothing's for certain - everything varies!!

Hope everyone enjoyed a SUNNY friday! bye
