Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
sweetkitty · 26/07/2007 16:38

rainbowdays - that is brilliant news congratulations

We went to New York when I was nearly 28 weeks with DD1 as our last couple holiday, it was fab but a lot of walking which was hard on my joints but wouldn't have changed it.

fitzfrodo · 26/07/2007 16:38

Sorry to you guys who are having any difficulties love to you all.

Feel sick as a dog and ended up telling everyone at work (not that there are many) but i thought well if anything bad happens i would be telling them anyway and i just can't hide how shitty i look and how much i am puking!

Slight problem though work with my sister in law, can't stand her she is a moody cow however she has just miscarried x2 in 6 months and there is a void where we don't discuss work home or babies...thank god i'm leaving! I feel awful to her (even though she nicked my girls name and was really brazen woth it)but can't help feel my mood might lift when i'm not around her...

Am i really mean?

c4it · 26/07/2007 16:42

I think they should ban all tv food programs, eating, adverts for food etc in the evenings because they make me soooo hungry! At this rate I'm going to be the size of a barn - my first DD was 9lb7 and they only get bigger as the mw reminded me yesterday!

On a more serious note have any of you had home births with large babies? MW was concerned because DS had mild shoulder dystocia last time. I really wanted a home birth then, but it didn't work out that way, but v determined to get one this time.

sweetkitty · 26/07/2007 16:49

c4it - DD2 was a homebirth and was 9lbs 3ozs not terribly big but big enough, the birth was absolutely fine much easier than her 6lbs 3ozs sister who tore me to shreds, with DD2 I only had a slight graze and recovered so much better as I was at home. They will monitor you during your pregnancy and if they think the baby is too big you can always opt to go to hospital. Although they said DD2 would be 7 1/2 lbs and I have a friend whos second was 2lbs lighter than the first so it doesn't always follow seconds are heavier.

imjin100 · 26/07/2007 16:58

holidaysqueen, you live up to your name, and thank you sweet kitty too , I like the ideas and shall discuss tonight. Have considered just going to southern india which i think is better for malaria but DH desperate to go to Rajastaan so we may wait a year or two! GP was very sweet and said we shouldn't panic as we can still have a life with a little person!

Great news Rainbowdays, very exciting. Will keep fingers crossed.
I've also told them at work Fitzfrodo, I'm no good at lying and had to go the doctor's at wierd times. Also I figure like you if something goes wrong they are going to find out anyway so might as well know now so at least i don't have to pretend to be on sparkling form during the day as well as when we're out with friends.

c4it · 26/07/2007 17:01

Sweetkitty - you have made my day

sweetkitty · 26/07/2007 17:08

c4it - there was another woman on my Due in Jan 2006 thread that had a 10lb-er at home too.

Why not book in for a homebirth then towards the end ask for a growth scan then you'll know if you are having a big un, remember second births are a lot easier (I'm hoping with the 3rd I cough and it falls out )

No more sign of blood but feel so queasy been to the loo about 25 times today, this ones the soze of a grape and already stressing me out!!!

Lcy · 26/07/2007 17:24

Sorry to hear that Sweet Kitty - glad they booked you in for a scan - even if it is on Monday! I am still getting brown discharge but just not looking at the toilet paper anymmore- denial works for me

Just to let you know there are some good ones out there - my midwife has been fantastic. She is coming to my house for an appt next week to talk me through everything. She is also pro homebirth - yipee!

Hi to everyone else - i have just eaten a big bit of cake and now lying on sofa watching friends - soooo tired - we are going out for dinner tonight and i dont know if i will stay awake.

Sorry for the pukey heads out there - maybe my turn will come as I think, so far,I'm at the bottom of the pile at only 5 weeks. At least you must feel you're pregnant though! I'm buying another HPT tomorrow to make sure I am because after doing a 2 hour route march over hill and down dale followed by an hour's tennis with my 10 yo running me ragged, how can I possibly be this bouncy & be carrying a growing baby that is sucking the life out of me?!

At least my temps are still very high though. I can't stop taking temps every bloody morning - think it's just habit and I'm addicted.

Yes it is worrying about m/w not wanting to see you before 12 wks - mines the same - saw her a couple of days ago and she just took my details and booked me into hospital of choice (too scared to have a home birth as my first babe came out so fast in 1.5 hours and it was traumatic) & booked my 12 wk scan and that was that. She said she'd call me?!

Don't be worried about calling her if you have any Qs - I'm going to call because I read about a nuchal fold scan and it needs to be done at 11 wks I think so I need her to help me on this. Are they available on the NHS or only private?

wendyredhead · 26/07/2007 17:59

Also home birth promoters: doesn't it worry you?

I must say it would be much nicer to be at home, I just haven't even considered it. Maybe I should...hhmmm

wendyredhead · 26/07/2007 18:00

sorry forgot to add that I live in Lincolnshire and as nobody really seems to know much about this forgotten county, I didn't put the nearest town but it's Lincoln or Boston or Grimsby or Louth - in the middle!

beckyndanuk · 26/07/2007 18:26

Hi all. I've been out of the loop for a few days.
Hope nobody has been flooded out.

Feel soooooo sick. Having dificulty eatng anythin much. Got faint and a bit breatless yesterday. Went to GP who sent me for a load of blood tests. I'm probably just anemic (My diagnosis!) off work for a couple of days now to "rest" wich I have been doing plenty of! I don't think work are too happy, but I work in a hospital and have real problems with going on the wards if I am feeling really sick. Role on week 12!

Dr has put me on pregaday (Iron and folic acid) The leaflet says not to be taaken until 12 weeks but I am only 5. Anyone else on it?

monthlymayhem · 26/07/2007 18:43

Hello Angeliki and congratulations

c4it - thanks for the book recommendation, I had been wanting to buy a book to refer to but there were too may to choose from and I came out of the bookshop empty handed!! Will try to find that one.

hopeful stork - that's really good news, bet it was a relief

Sweetkitty - sorry to hear that, it must have given you a scare fingers crossed it has stopped for good x

rainbowdays - fantastic, congrats

I've had the most horrible, stressful day at work today I've also had a really sore tummy so I'm hoping it's not related... Normally after a day like today I would come home to a large chilled glass of wine, and I was half way to the fridge when I remembered that I can't really do that anymore!! Pizza and white chocolate magnum will have to do...

sweetkitty · 26/07/2007 18:58

Had some more brown discharge - definitely brown and I'm still feeling sick so taking that as a good sign. I think I may phone them tomorrow and beg for a scan would be much easier for me to nip up the hospital and wait myself rahter than with the DDs.

Homebirth - yes there was part of me that was scared to go for it, no one npt even DP supported me and it may be feel so lonely at times. MN was great though. I'm glad I stuck to my guns and had a fab birth. Hospital is 10 mins away max in an ambulance, theres usually signs all is not going to plan as well so theres time to transfer.

Sorry for all the pukey heads as well, it's horrid isn't it? Still not long now........

cricri · 26/07/2007 19:18

Evening everybody. Sorry to hear some of you are feeling so rough - guess I shouldn't complain about feeling exhausted. Have never felt this tired before though... I can't imagine what it must be like to have DC to run around after too.

Wendyredhead - I'm also interested in the nuchal fold scan as SIL has Downs syndrome and DH and I are concerned in that dept.

Did a bit of research on Mumsnet yesterday and found some interesting threads. Looks like it depends on where you live as to whether you can get one on the NHS or not. My doctor is going to let me know. She mentioned Kings College but a friend also recommended the Fetal Medicine Centre in London, which is also mentioned in the various threads.

I believe it has to be done between 11 and 13 wks so not that long to think about it!

Anybody else have any info/recommendations?

Rachel1963 · 26/07/2007 19:54

Hi everyone, have been keeping my head down the last couple of days and trying not to think about having to go back for a 2nd scan but hopefulstork's story has made me feel a bit more positive. Have also been feeling quite sick so am taking that as a good sign (though haven't felt sick v much at all today, maybe the ginger nuts are working...).

Sweetkitty - good luck with your scan, hope it's just a false alarm.

Cricri - I had a nuchal with DS, first time on the NHS which just measured the nuchal translucency and because of my, ahem, advanced years, didn't take me out of the high risk group. So then I went privately and spent the best £100 ever - got bloods and various other measurements down which brought my risk right down and meant we felt comfortable with not going for amnio or CVS. I'm booked in at Kings this time and I think they do the full thing on the NHS (it was all developed there) but I'd spend the money again. The Fetal Medicine Centre is run by the same KCH prof who's developed it all so you'd be in good hands there as well. Good luck!

papaya · 26/07/2007 20:34

evening all well I had my first scan this evening, they have put me back a few days, but we got to see the heartbeat (and we got to HEAR it!!) he said its looking ok things are where they should be and the heart is beating (103) so there all good early signs.....keeping fingers crossed!! So instead of being 6 weeks now, I will be 6 weeks on sunday!

wendyredhead I live in lincs as well, I had my DD at Boston. I have just paid private for an early viability/dadting scan, as i have had 2 miscarriages in the past 18 mo. We have been to East Keal, to the Brayford Studios, and fingers crossed if everythings stays ok, I think I will go back for more scans there. They do the Nuchal scan at 11 weeks too if you want any info about boston hosp of llink to the brayford website let me know!! xx

sweetkitty · 26/07/2007 20:48

papaya - thats great news

papaya · 26/07/2007 20:56

hi sweetkitty - Was just in the process of kicking dh off the comp, I just wanted to say that I had brown discharge through quite a lot of my first pregnancy on and off to about 10 wks, it started at about 6 weeks but everything was fine in the end

sweetkitty · 26/07/2007 20:59

thanks papaya - I had two bleeds with DD1 as well, the first was horrendous loads of bright red blood splashed all around the toilet bowl sorry if TMI I thought I had lost her for sure. But 6 hours later at St Thomas' EPU we saw her on the scan. I'm trying to stay positive but theres always that niggling doubt.

I so hate these first few weeks.

3madboys · 26/07/2007 21:26

hello all lots to cath up, good news on for those that have had scans and i hope everyone else is ok.

i had a busy day, took boys to colchester and ended up bumping into an old school friend who i havent seen for 5years, she is due to have her second baby any day now so that was nice.

re nuchal scans, with ds3 i had one done at the fetal medicine centre in london, they were great, it was the best £140 i spent, they gave me odds of one in ten thousand which was hugely reassuring.

i cant get to london this time so i am having the scan done at the norfolk and norwich.

hello to those in lincolnshire, my parents live there and i visit occasionally

i am still feeling sick and tired, but they are good signs that all is ok, so i can put up with it for a few more weeks.

derah · 26/07/2007 22:33

Aaargh, my fanjo is producing alien slime! Great stringy globs of it! Yuk! Sorry if TMI. Anyone else having this rather embarassing problem? I don't remember it from last time.

Anyway, I need to get to bed. Hope everything is OK Sweetkitty.

3madboys · 26/07/2007 22:46

me too derah, and it makes me dash off to the loo to check its not blood. i dont remember it with the boys? but i think its normal

night all i am off to bed too. xxx

sweetkitty · 26/07/2007 22:48

I've had loads of wierd discharge as well derah prior to having the brown stuff. Also my fanjo has been very tender in general. Not due to any kind of action I hasten to add. Have told DP there's no action until after 12 weeks now as I'm mega paranoid.

DD1 went to nursery for the first time today a kind of dry run for her starting next month, I was very good and didn't cry but it's going to be so hard leaving her there. The hormones certainly don't help matters. There was one of those loud supermums there, her DD2 will be in my DD1's class. She was giving me tips on having 3 and saying how clever she was having exactly 2 years between each DC and will DD1 be having a little brother this time? She also asked if I worked and I was like "no I'm a SAHM" then she started to tell me how she couldn't cope being a SAHM and she needs to work to keep her sane etc so I said "well in my career in the CITY OF LONDON I travelled to Europe on business quite a bit so it wasn't compatible with children so I gave it up and we moved back here, that shut her up! Didn't say that I can't afford to send 2 to nursery full time and I chose such an obscure career that I can't get a job up here so I'm stuck at home but she doesn't need to know that

wendyredhead · 26/07/2007 22:50

SweetKitty: hopefully the bleeding is a similar pattern to your last pregnancy then...everything's crossed. I will look into homebirth although I'm 35 mins from nearest hospital scary!

Rachel1963,CriCri,3madboys etc: tx for advice on nuchal scans - will def go for it even if I have to pay. Sounds like it takes much of the worry out of things (hopefully) I want the full works you got privately Rachel- for £100 that seems OK. Was it called anything specific rather than the nHS one?

Waving back at you from Lincs 3madboys

Papaya - your're local!!! Can you say where? I'm near Alford - only 15 mins from East Keal - that's fab. How much was your scan? I'll have to speak to m/w asap. So many Qs - any info would be great thanks
M/w put me on the spot and I didn't know which hospital to chose and ended up saying Grimsby as my DH ended up in A&E at Boston and it holds bad memories for me!
Any good luck !

It's so difficult to follow everybody's threads and my braincells aren't functioning properly at mo !
