Thought we had better start a new thread - wonder if we'll see some (more) babies arriving on this thread...

I had a retained placenta last time and had a lovely chat today with someone who decided to tell me hers just ‘slid out’ twice, and reminded me I’m at a higher risk of it happening again. Like the thought isn’t worrying me every day already Hmm The only thing I’m dreading about birth is having another retained placenta, but there’s nothing I can do to prevent it.

StargazyDrifter · 06/06/2019 18:48

Ugh that's such a thoughtless comment at a sensitive time too. Maybe it's because these things aren't talked about more widely that people don't always know how to behave. Still no excuse though.

Chinks123 · 06/06/2019 19:42

I agree, I’d never even heard of a retained placenta until it happened, and it hasn’t been mentioned this time around either.

The ‘due this week’ comment that you had is so popular aswell. I think people see a pregnant woman and think they have to comment on it.

Have fun packing your hospital bag. I’ve repacked mine about 5 times, I’m not sure why we literally live down the road if I forget anything.

cravingmilkshake · 07/06/2019 10:56

Hi ladies- hope you are all well?

I'm on the first of my days off for my four day weeks in June. Got an assignment to write this weekend which is due in on Sunday evening- but before that, I've started a new box set- New Amsterdam!

I hope you are all ok and relaxing where possible? X

TwinkleDay · 07/06/2019 11:30

Ladies , those going on maternity leave I have informed HR with matb1 form and date for it to start... yonks ago.. do I need to do anything else or will the pay start automatically ?

Giraffe888 · 07/06/2019 11:42

Been for scan to check placenta this morning. It’s still covering so booked in for caesarean. I’m 32+6 and baby weighs 4lb 1oz x

blueeyedviking · 07/06/2019 13:08

@cravingmilkshake Im also watching that, it's pretty good.

@twinkleday - that should be all you need to do and yes it should start automatically. I think I'm also getting a letter from HR confirming the dates.

@giraffe888 when is your cesarean booked for? Good that they are keeping an eye on it!

Giraffe888 · 07/06/2019 13:53

@blueeyedviking 19th July. If I go into labour before then I’d have to have emergency caesarean x

StargazyDrifter · 07/06/2019 14:18

TwinkleDay I didn't have to do anything else after the MATB1, they also sent me a letter confirming the start date for my mat leave and holiday allowance but that's it. Still using A/L so not checked the money situation but expect it to just continue in the right amounts. I've made a note to check though, we probably have the most chaotic HR dept there is.

thedust · 07/06/2019 14:28

@twinkleday I just got a letter in the post this week from my HR Dept confirming my maternity leave although I sent the matb1 off ages ago. No detail about exact payments, just the scale. I've asked for my payslip to be emailed to my personal email address so I can check it each month. We'll see if they manage that! I finish today 😁 3 weeks of holidays then mat leave begins 1st July.

Jxtina86 · 07/06/2019 15:45

@TwinkleDay our company seems to have a constant stream of pregnancies so HR are pretty good. Once I handed in my matb1, I had a meeting with them a few weeks later to discuss what I wanted to do leave wise, they talked through the pay etc. Then a few weeks after that got a letter confirming it all. Did have a last minute meeting on my final day as they are changing the policy RE holiday - previously they paid anything accrued plus bank holidays at the end of the calendar year, but now they want you to take all accrued leave at the end of mat leave, so final meeting just went through that and I've decided to take that rather than the lump sum. Also got a schedule of pay so can see what I'm getting each month which was handy.

TwinkleDay · 07/06/2019 19:25

Thanks for that everyone. I haven't had a letter and I had a brief meeting with a lady from hr back in jan about it all.

I have emailed head of HR and she is going to find out and follow up.

I had my last day in today, felt rather weird now off for a year! I have worked at least 1 job for the last 13 years so it's becoming more and more real each day I'm going to have a baby!!

Yukka · 08/06/2019 08:38

@twinkleday yeah you are supposed to get a letter really confirming what will happen. It’s sort of the point if giving them the mat1b form, but I had to chase he a few times to get it.

Had a big row with my boss yesterday, left me feeling really low. Sometimes he’s a bloody idiot. One week left.

thedust · 08/06/2019 08:40

Baby heavy day for us today - NCT breastfeeding workshop this morning and baby shower this afternoon!

After all the hassle with our pram and car seat, I'm still chasing them for our raincover that was included in the bundle. Given how wet it has been here this week I think we'll be needing it if we're in for a wet summer! They said they are still waiting for the stock from joolz which is strange as it's in stock with them and on John Lewis too. Also the fact that I had to notice it was missing and chase them up, I think they were hoping I'd forgot it was supposed to be included! I do NOT recommend baby planet at the baby and toddler shows at all.

TwinkleDay · 08/06/2019 08:43

@Yukka thank you, one week left the end is in sight !

I have emailed them for them to get back to me, even though I finished yesterday she said it will be looked into and mat leave doesn't start until 17th june due to hols...

Does anyone know how long it takes to process... I'm just fearing the worst and thinking the bunch of idiots haven't done anything since the meeting at the start of the year... they asked me for a fit note if you remember for the last 3 days in.. which like you said is not a legal requirement and they haven't chased it up ... yet

Capybaras · 08/06/2019 09:02

@TwinkleDay my HR have been useless as well in getting back to me re mat leave. Despite submitting my matb1 and mat leave form in March I'm still chasing them. Been up to hr a few times to physically sit there to get a response. Think I'm going to have to go up next week and sit there whilst they sort the form otherwise it'll
Never be done and I'm finishing next week.

Really sore hips last night - struggled to sleep on either side too long. Baby is back-to-back and my midwife advised straddling a chair whilst watching tv to get him to turn the right way, but not sure if this has now aggravated my hips/PGP! I really hope not as I did not sleep well.

Have a weekend of sorting out the house/ finally packing my hospital bag. Picked up the last few bits for it yesterday so better pack now as I'm 35+4!

Yukka · 08/06/2019 09:58

@twinkleday it’s literally a couple of hours work for them to work out your benefits and payments. I would keep chasing!

@thedust...wet summer...noooooooooooo 😩

@capybaras mine moved from right side breech to head down in the last week and the improvement in pgp is unreal. Hopefully baby moves soon

Capybaras · 08/06/2019 10:33

That's great news @Yukka luckily I haven't had any pgp so far this pregnancy which is why I'm a bit gutted I may have triggered it off! Taken the dog for a walk and still quite sore/achey in my hips so will be trying not to aggravate them any further. Was supposed to be going to see a local band tonight but not sure now how I'll cope with the standing!

Hope everyone else is doing well. Still can't get my head around how close we are now.

BeckyButterfly · 08/06/2019 10:49

You ladies have reminded me that I've had nothing from HR either. The admin staff at my school were great and really organised with getting everything sorted so it's all done on our end but I haven't had any official confirmation. I didn't realise I was supposed to get anything! I sent my MatB1 form with a letter to say when I intend to start mat leave ages ago so should they have sent a letter confirming my pay etc?
I really hadn't thought about it at all!

TheScaredyKat · 08/06/2019 11:50

Hi ladies, Happy Saturday everyone! I'm still here, just checking in. Now 37+2, still at work and just keeping fingers crossed that he doesn't come too early. I'll be 38+5 when I finish if all goes to well.
Then I've asked Baby to give me a few days rest and then he can come whenever he likes.
Sorry to hear some of you are having struggles with work. My main problem with work is the volume of it I have to get through in the next week!
I've also had quite bad PGP at times, I wear a support belt everyday which has become more uncomfortable as I've got bigger but still doing me good I think and has allowed me to keep walking the dog etc.... although increasingly slowly and waddly.

stephn88 · 08/06/2019 12:19

Happy weekend ladies Grin

Only 1 more day of work left for me, Monday is going to be emotional! Already been crying leaving for the day last week lol!

Got a birthing class in a bit, feeling very nervous and really don't want to go but going to suck it up and see what it's all about!

Kentishgal · 08/06/2019 15:23

I dreamt I had my baby last night and she had teeth like a hippopotamus and a full head of hair.

TwinkleDay · 08/06/2019 21:37

@BeckyButterfly yes hR are rubbish, I jus though imagine if I didn't say anything and got full pay for the next year :/ hmm that would be nice !!!

Eek, as well as my busy diary next week I will be busy next week, planning I'm cleaning one room of the house everyday :) 1 down 7 more to go... including anti bac doors and handles, dusting and hoover.. then from saturday crack on with sex and spicy food lol

BeckyButterfly · 08/06/2019 21:41

@TwinkleDay wouldn't that be the dream?! 😂

TheScaredyKat · 08/06/2019 23:13

Yes @TwinkleDay it's all feeling a bit real now. DH fitted the car seat today.
