I couldn't see a new thread so started one, hope that's OK.

Massive congratulations @swiftfox. So exciting to have our first baby!

Congratulations @Fabuluce - wonderful!

@Kescilly I was really worried with my boy he would give up the BF because we had to combi feed. Can’t remember who said it but one professional who was watching him feed was like no way he loves it. I fed him until he did give it up on his own and he was 21/22 months at that point (we were down to just a morning and sometimes bedtime at that point). Is is good to have the magic boobs to comfort them, but if you stop they will still be comforted by you - it’s magic mummy who is more than just boobs! (•)(•) I used to BF him then offer the formula after.

Wild Friday night with the breast pump trying to convince baby to find out! Kids with their dad until tomorrow night do now would be a perfect time to go into Labour

Heyha · 07/06/2019 19:11

Congrats @bimbabo and @fabulace!

I had my 38 and a bit appointment today and the head is still free (despite nightly cervix headbutting sessions 🙄) so I think we might not be joining you for a while yet. My blood pressure is back down to pathetic which I was pleased about with it being normal last time, I was wondering if we were brewing pre-eclampsia (I get migraines so I know my circulation can be a bit unhelpful in life at times) but today's reading was one of the lowest I've had all the way through.

excitedmama · 07/06/2019 22:50

Eeek! Due tomorrow, excited but nervous. My first son was 3 days late so who knows if labour is brewing... can't even remember what it was like last time it was so long ago! Hope you're all okay. Xx

allfurcoatnoknickers · 08/06/2019 21:04

Already announced it on Facebook but baby Asher Samuel made his arrival by ELCS yesterday at 4:30pm EST weighing in at a sturdy 7lbs 4oz.

We're smitten Grin

thedocisin · 08/06/2019 21:16

Congratulations @allfurcoatnoknickers Love the name! I feel like i'm missing so much not being on the FB group it's gone really quiet here. Can anyone send me the link to join please?

Kimbishop86 · 08/06/2019 21:16

@allfurcoatnoknickers congratulations!!!!!!!

allfurcoatnoknickers · 08/06/2019 21:33

@thedocisin thank you!! I think @MadeInCornwallx3 or @toomanyflatwhites can add you?

allfurcoatnoknickers · 08/06/2019 21:37

@Kescilly Maybe relevant to your interests, but I learned two fun US/UK birth cultural differences through my c-section:

  1. Absolutely no music during sections in my hospital at least. I hear it's pretty normal on the NHS

  2. You can though go into your section with a full face of makeup and gel nails on, whereas I learned on the NHS they make you take all your makeup off and you have to have bare nails.

2 might be just a high maintenance NYC thing though...

excitedmama · 08/06/2019 22:30

I'd love to be in the Facebook group too if possible?

thedocisin · 09/06/2019 01:43

Thanks @allfurcoatnoknickers

I'm booked in for a section in a couple of weeks and the nail thing is the one thing that irrationally annoyed me lol! I can't life without a pretty pedicure in the summer (shallowi know!) and the thought of going without that for a few weeks makes me a bit sad 😂

DinoMamasaurus · 09/06/2019 03:07

@@allfurcoatnoknickers congratulations!

I’m another one who would like to join the FB group please.

@thedocisin you should be fine with a pedicure but they definitely prefer you to have fingernails bare. I had a bit of make up on and gel toenails for mine and nothing got said beyond the midwife liking my bright toes! They do want fingernails bare so they can monitor colour. But oddly enough I did chat with the midwife about that this time and she said obviously if they get people in as emergencies and they have gel manicures they can’t get that stuff off easily so just have to work around it.

LivingOnAPear · 09/06/2019 07:52

Ooh can I join the Facebook group too. Been on this thread since the start and still haven’t joined.

Spargle · 09/06/2019 11:50

I think that anyone who wants to join the Facebook group needs to send the email address they use for their Facebook account to @MadeInCornwallx3 or @toomanyflatwhites.

KoalasAteMyHomework · 09/06/2019 12:34

Congratulations on the arrival of Asher @allfurcoatnoknickers

thedocisin · 09/06/2019 13:36

I sent an email to @MadeInCornwallx3 last week but haven't heard anything back. I'll try @toomanyflatwhites today.

thedocisin · 09/06/2019 13:37

@DinoMamasaurus that's good to know! Maybe I will do the pedicure then and leave my fingernails bare. That way they can still monitor stuff

toomanyflatwhites · 09/06/2019 16:03

For those who want to be added to the FB group - it needs to be an admin and I wasn't one, but I am now! So please send me a DM with the name/email address you use in FB and I can add you (might not be tonight!). It's certainly not quiet over there!!

fee1234 · 09/06/2019 18:18

Baby Jamie arrived yesterday 7lb 13 😊

Went to the hospital with pains and turns out I was 5cm! Then laboured naturally until waters went at 7cm, then got epidural, then he arrived a few hours later with forceps - I've got a small tear and had episiotomy, so nursing a few stitches and in a bit of pain.

Kimbishop86 · 09/06/2019 19:29

Congratulation @fee1234! Hope your recovery is swift! Enjoy the cuddles!

Napssavelives · 09/06/2019 19:49

Ahh congrats @fee1234 I don’t use facebook annoyingly! I miss the chatter!

Napssavelives · 09/06/2019 19:50

I’ve been having strong tightenings all day. More uncomfortable than BH but not contractiony and lots of pressure down below. No real pattern and they aren’t getting any worse. Felt a sudden need to clean, get stuff organised. Hoping it’s a sign things are moving in the right direction and it won’t be too much longer

KoalasAteMyHomework · 09/06/2019 20:01

Lovely news @fee1234 congratulations on the arrival of Jamie!
I had an episiotomy and forceps with DS, hope you recover soon. Arnica is brilliant for helping with swelling if you need it - think you can pick arnica tablets up in places like Holland and Barrett (maybe check with your midwife).

DinoMamasaurus · 09/06/2019 20:19

Congratulations @fee1234! Wishing you a speedy recovery. I had kiwi cap and small tear + episiotomy (and mega bruising). On day 12 now and it does get better. I have been taking arnica as my MW recommended it and I think it has helped (but nothing to compare with not taking it of course!)

fee1234 · 10/06/2019 05:09

Thanks will look into arnica! Very sore and bruised, I've only managed to walk the length of the hospital corridor since he was born, fainted a couple of times so on iron tablets now. The one good thing is that he's taken to breastfeeding really well. Good to hear the recovery gets better, we are on our second night in hospital but fingers crossed they discharge us in the afternoon.
