Ikea stuff has got us through just fine with DS, pretty sure it's a decent mattress that makes a bed really?

Whisky2014 · 20/05/2019 21:56

Im just such a suvker. Like there's ones for 1k and so I just look at ones for £100 or £200 and think itll be crappy but actually, you are all right and it is the mattress that makes it.
I just don't want anything too flimsy because I want it to last a good few years!

Yah, I think there will be plenty family members wanting to buy us gifts. I hate asking though. Didn't do a gift list for my wedding because I can't bring myself to ask for anything hehe.
Mum and dad said they'd buy the cot but i don't want to take the piss.

Whisky2014 · 20/05/2019 21:56

Oh and I've never been to Ikea! Blush

IVEgottheDECAF · 20/05/2019 22:04

Whisky Shock

Whisky2014 · 20/05/2019 22:04

Lol i know!

IVEgottheDECAF · 20/05/2019 22:08

Honestly though apart from appearance there isnt much difference in most cots. It is the mattress which is important.

Stroan · 20/05/2019 22:10

@whisky2014 I know how you feel. My parents were very clear they wanted to contribute to the pram - they actually wanted to buy it outright but as my sister and I had babies at the same time they were on a budget! In-laws asked if we needed anything and we gave them a list of 4-5 things they could choose from at various price points. They chose the playmat. It's really hard though, goes against every polite bone in my body!

IVEgottheDECAF · 20/05/2019 22:14

When we needed a double pram, PIL bought it. Apart from that no one had ever bought us any big items just the usual clothes, blankets etc.

I cant help feel a bit bad when people are buying us new baby gifts for baby number 5 though Blush

Stroan · 20/05/2019 22:20

It's lovely that they do, I'm fully expecting this one to get a lot less. Not a problem as I hate waste and I am a little fussy with what clothes I like 🙈

IVEgottheDECAF · 20/05/2019 22:31

Same stroan!

excitednerves · 20/05/2019 22:48

I was also given a playmat - it folds up tiny. Hoping baby enjoys it!

We bit the bullet and bought the mamas and papas travel system today - flip xt3. We pretty much got the car seat and isofix free, too good to pass up!

That’s all the big bits sorted now!

easterbuns1 · 20/05/2019 22:54

I've ordered a mokee cot and mattress, comes in different colours and can add storage drawer / changer top etc. Very reasonable price and good reviews.

Except the bugaboo cameleon (which seems to be an indestructible tank) am I expecting too much to reuse a pram (I’m choosing one that my sis can have in a few years)?

Stroan · 21/05/2019 08:10

Hmm, I'm not sure. It depends how well it's looked after I suppose and whether you quickly switch to a stroller. I chose the Chameleon for that exact reason - friends with one easily used them for 2-3 children and they stayed in good condition. Other friends barely seemed to get 2 years worth without needing major work done.

I think the uppababy's last quite well too?

IVEgottheDECAF · 21/05/2019 08:10

Really depends on how much the pram is used, how well it is looked after, how well it is made etc

We had an umbrella stroller which did two kids three years apart but it wasnt used lots

TwittleBee · 21/05/2019 08:28

Our pram (silver cross pioneer) is immaculate where we looked after it and in fairness is pretty sturdy heavy too so certainly will be reusing it and most likely keeping it just in case DH changes his mind about not wanting a 3rd

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 21/05/2019 10:54

Anyone else waking up stiff in the bum/glutes area? Only really in my left bum cheek oddly. I also get it if sitting down too long (great for a desk based job...)

I also went to have a bra fitting yesterday and I’ve gone from 32C to 36C (well likely 35C if they did that). I was expecting cup size to change, not rib size!

The joys of pregnancy

easterbuns1 · 21/05/2019 10:54

I've been feeling rotten for days, throwing up, couldn't walk, had to take myself to bed. I think it's been an accumulation of overdoing it and my whooping cough jag. Thought I was feeling better today but I'm getting pains in my bump that I assume are braxton hicks which I've never had in previous pregnancies. Is it normal for them to really bloody hurt? I feel sick with them and have had to come for a lie down.

IVEgottheDECAF · 21/05/2019 11:13

easter i think BH are like after pain in that they are stronger / more painful in each pregnancy. That said i think if you are having more than 3 lots in 10 mins you are meant to get checked over

bridget i hate to warn you but you may be starting with some spd or sciatica Flowers

TwittleBee · 21/05/2019 11:33

Bridget yeah rib width is crazy with the expansion, mainly goes back post-birth - its just where everything gets pushed up to make room for the baby. Also, I really recommend doing your kegals and other suitable core exercises to help with any potential pain in pelvic area - touches wood I've not started suffering with any of the pelvic, back and nerve pain I did with DS and I have my physio to thank for that for making me do these exercises

easter it is worth getting checked if they are that bad and you didnt have them previously. hopefully its just where you are dehydrated and run down which is causing them to be so severe - dodgy tummy certainly makes them worse too (my IBS makes them fricking awful)

BBell2 · 21/05/2019 11:50

@BridgetJonesDaiquiri yes to the pains to the point I'm barely sleeping. With me its definitely SPD as someone else says. Started at 20wks this time, much later with my first and I could barely walk with her by 36wks. I'm bolloxed! Tell your midwife, we had a 12wk waiting list for any help and it would still have been worth it for me to be seen a handful of times. I'm taking paracetamol, stretching and emptying my bladder a few times a night and swimming to try and help (never sure it isnt worse directly after).

boodles101 · 21/05/2019 11:56

Bridget I'm the same, especially just the left side. Some days I barely notice it but Sunday I could hardly move. Over night is the worst though, I really struggle to turn over.

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 21/05/2019 12:22

Relieved to hear I’m not alone but sorry for those suffering as well. I’m going to look into pregnancy yoga and will mention to midwife tomorrow

Whisky2014 · 21/05/2019 12:34

My bra size went from 32f to 34/36G
They are bloody humongous! But I've notice my nipples pointing to the left and right. So left breast my nipple points to left a bit and right nipple points to right. Anyone else have that?
Got me a lovely set of piles too :(
I'm not too bad pain wise, just difficult going upstairs...My husband pushes my bum up to help me go up haha. And my left hip is a bit stiff but apart from that ok. Feeling waves of sick sometimes but not enough to really complain about that

Wonder what the population would be if it was men who were pregnant!

Megan2018 · 21/05/2019 12:45

No rib expansion here yet! Boobs were bigger and painful first trimester but are now pretty much same size as pre pg (32DD). Nipples are bigger and brown though!
I am holding off bra shopping until I see how they change closer to EDD. I imagine rib size must go up eventually?!

I get hip pain some nights from sleeping on my side (even with pillow) and my pelvis was horrendous on Sunday after a lot of walking at the weekend but fine now. I get a slightly aching lower back sometimes but very little. I do see a chiro regularly though.

Absolutely zero BH though. Is that normal? 23+5
