okay and now this afternoon my feet have decided they no longer want to fit into my shoes, bluerghhhhhh

I feel like a right moaner today

Megan2018 · 20/05/2019 15:57

Fat feet and cankles here too! I bought some very soft leather flats last week. Not stylish but they stretch. But even they are tight today Sad

happydays00 · 20/05/2019 16:42

Had a midwife appointment today at 24+1, took about 20 minutes to find baby's heartbeat. I wasn't particularly concerned as I'd felt baby moving pretty much up until that point. Seems he is lying across my belly and tucked right into the right hand side but pretty sure he changes positions as I literally feel kicks everywhere depending on the day.

I would however quite like him to move from transverse though as sometimes when I walk I get the most horrendous stitch type pain just above my right hip which must be when he's lying in a certain way.

I seem to be getting slightly puffy ankles and knees (gross!!!) dreading seeing what state they're in by August 😳

kyles101 · 20/05/2019 16:52

@Megan2018 is that your 25 week appointment you had early? Or do you have one at around that time in your area? My 25 week is next week when I'll be nearly 26 weeks - seems like ages since I've seen anyone but think they start to come more often for me soon. I've been feeling consistent movement when I rest now (and midnight is guaranteed 🙄) for about a week so not too long for you either I'm sure. If I'm ever worried I just need to eat or lay on my right hand side and instant wiggling!

Hsunshine · 20/05/2019 17:18

I called a nursery and they said they have places from this August so I guess they don’t have a long waiting list

My 25 week apt is almost at 26 weeks too

How long does the apt take?

Megan2018 · 20/05/2019 17:29

@kyles101
Its a 24 and 28 week appointment here, so it is my 24 week, but a few days early. All of mine have been early! Booking was at 6+4, had my 15wk at 14+4.

I see her again at 27+4 but have growth scan before that at exactly 27 wks and consultant at 31wks so thick and fast now!

@Hsunshine
It was about 20-25mins. Quick feel of baby, heartbeat check, urine tested, blood pressure. She was meant to talk about antenatal classes but as I’m doing NCT she said not not bother with NHS ones. Filled in MATB1 and just a bit of chat on how I was. I asked about movement monitoring and my cankles and she talked me through and booked in the diabetes test.
She found heartbeat instantly, guess it could have been longer if that was hard to find.

Hsunshine · 20/05/2019 17:44

@megan2018 thank you, I have mine this week 😊

IVEgottheDECAF · 20/05/2019 17:47

I dont get a 24 or 25 week appointment, although i have some how booked my 28 week one for 26+5 so i need to rearrange that

Signed off sick for a week with instructions to rest ...

TwittleBee · 20/05/2019 17:58

Kind of glad I'm not the only puffy one here with the swelling, I read online that drinking more water helps this? Any truth in that?

Only 1st time mums get a 24 week appointment with the NHS but the 1to1 MW service I've swapped to gives all mums a 24-25 week appointment so I've got mine in 2 weeks.

Oh Decaf I am sorry you've been signed off but then again also at least you have been signed off so do try to rest. Will you get time away from the other children to be able to rest though?

MyHomey · 20/05/2019 19:13

I'm a first time Mum and have no 24 week appt, just waiting for the 28 week one...

QQ for the existing parents.. are playmats useful? (Like the photo I've added) I'm asking as obviously it takes up a lot of space.. so only want to get it if you'd recommend! TIA!

I would say so, DD loved hers from about 4/5 weeks onwards. They tend to fold up though, so they don't have to sit out taking up space.

They are also fairly short lived, we were probably done with ours by about 4-5 months when she got more mobile.

IVEgottheDECAF · 20/05/2019 19:32

I would definitely get a playmat yes all of my (4) dc have enjoyed them at some point

MyHomey · 20/05/2019 19:45

Thank you both, that makes my mind up!

happydays00 · 20/05/2019 19:46

Yes, the play mat was a success in our house too. As was the Jumperoo (when they're a bit older). I've seen it called "the circle of neglect" on here - which really just made me LOL

Stroan · 20/05/2019 20:00

I can still hear the jumperoo music in my head, 3 years later!

kyles101 · 20/05/2019 20:15

Make sure you do try to get some rest ivegot, easier said than done I'm sure.

Ha ha, playmate is deffo going on my list then!!

ShowerTheHorse · 20/05/2019 20:30

I have terrible heartburn today!! 22 weeks today. I have a growth scan at 24 weeks and then every 4 weeks after that.

Any one got any cravings? I haven't! Was hoping to send DP to the shops at midnight for gherkins or something but nothing so far!

Whisky2014 · 20/05/2019 20:41

Ugh I am so tired today. I've just gone to bed. Had a crap night sleep last night.
I have felt sick for past we days which is strange and have also required Rennies!

I love a playmat I saw on John Lewis
Think it's £££ but it's so cute. I'll find a photo.

I'm struggling with buying a cot bed. The ones I like are around £300 but seems so much money. Are the ones for like £160 just gona be shit?

I'm like Megan and had 24 week app and my next one is 28 week app.

Baby is kicking me loads now I've gone to bed!

Moraxella · 20/05/2019 20:46

Sickness and food aversions back (I cannot name one thing I fancy except beer and lots of it), and legs definitely swollen - had to keep stopping at parkrun because the calf pain was something else 😵

It's £80 am I being an idiot? It's vegetables! It looks awesome :D

Stroan · 20/05/2019 21:01

@whisky2014 a cheaper cot bed isn't necessarily going to be shit. Our cot was from IKEA, just wasn't something I could justify spending a lot on. And I normally have no problem justifying stuff! Are there any reviews of the cheaper one that you can check?

Love that playmat. Any relatives or friends that you think might be looking for a pricy gift to buy you?

April88 · 20/05/2019 21:07

@Whisky2014 I’m going for the Alex cot bed from John Lewis, £125 so seems more reasonable than most.

I had my 25 week appointment today, next one is at 28 weeks and then every 2 weeks after that. Feels like I’ll be seeing them all the time!

IVEgottheDECAF · 20/05/2019 21:25

Said this before but 6/7 years ago i bought a cot from mothercare for £60. It has done dc3 and 4 until around 2 years of age, its now waiting for dc5!

Megan2018 · 20/05/2019 21:28

I was given 2 prisine playmats Grin as part of the bundle from a friend.
One is a big fisher price one, the other is smaller and folds up small to take visiting/travelling to family. I’ll pass them on once we are done with them.

Megan2018 · 20/05/2019 21:30

We intend to get a cheap Ikea cotbed once she’s too big for bedside crib.
Not spending loads on some wood! Will get a good mattress though.
