I’ve not been on for a while and haven’t fully caught up but I’m so glad everything is okay @whiskey2014. My waters broke spontaneously at 33 weeks and my baby was born the next morning - it really is important to get checked out ASAP with something like that. They can usually give you drugs to keep baby in if it is getting ready for an early exit!

Stroan · 06/06/2019 19:11

Glad everything was ok @whisky2014 hope you can have a good night now.

Karigan195 · 06/06/2019 19:46

@Whisky2014. Yeah I got left behind as my son claimed to be ill on the very first bit so I told them to go on without us. He made it up the next day though. We went out again and he got me a cream tea afterwards :)

Pastaalldaylong · 06/06/2019 20:22

Hello, just caught up with the thread.
Had a midwife appointment today. Apparently my fundal height was 26cm at 25+3 and measured 26cm still two weeks later today at 27+3. Midwife wasnt concerned.
Any thoughts?

Stroan · 06/06/2019 20:25

@pastaalldaylong the measurements are so imprecise and there's loads of factors that affect size at this point. If the midwife isn't concerned, I'd probably not worry but easier said than done.

When do you see her again? You could ask for an earlier appointment to check.

Hsunshine · 06/06/2019 20:27

@pastaalldaylong absolutely insist on a scan. I had this yesterday and went for emergency scan today, baby has dropped growth a lot and I need another one in 2 weeks to make a plan of action
Two weeks ago they said he was maybe small and I really wish I had pushed then

Pastaalldaylong · 06/06/2019 20:28

@Stroan thanks. It was a student who measured me this time. Midwife last time. I certainly feel like I've grown and look it in photos I think! Next appointment is in 3 weeks

Pastaalldaylong · 06/06/2019 20:30

@Hsunshine oh really. Do you think I should be worried? I have no number for my midwife just the ward at the hospital where they see you if you are worried about movement etc.

Hsunshine · 06/06/2019 20:30

@pastaalldaylong I don’t want to scare you maybe you’re fine and don’t have any problems but the midwife said today it’s ohly 27 weeks so if it keeps getting worse and they don’t check you for a while then that’s not good

Hsunshine · 06/06/2019 20:32

@pastaalldaylong don’t worry until you know but I honestly wouldn’t leave it, it’s better to be safe. I would call the antenatal clinic or labour ward and tell them you’re very worried about baby growth and it’s too consistent. The hospital ones are a lot more thorough
My midwife booked me a scan for this morning and I only saw her yesterday

Pastaalldaylong · 06/06/2019 21:03

Thanks. Well I rung triage and they said if I hadn't dropped off the curve on the chart then not to be worried (I'm about 5th percentile) and if midwife wasnt concerned then dont be.

Hsunshine · 06/06/2019 21:18

Better to have checked with them and now you don’t need to worry Smile

IVEgottheDECAF · 06/06/2019 21:30

Alot of people wont even be measured before 28 weeks

My first appointment with measuring is at 28+5

Pastaalldaylong · 06/06/2019 21:39

@IVEgottheDECAF yes I thought that too. Most people would even know if they were measuring big or small anyway so will try not to worry. Theres always something to worry about though!

TwittleBee · 06/06/2019 21:43

MW today said she won't measure me before 28 weeks now because bump sizes vary so much before and can change a lot due to baby's position as well. Try not to worry.

IVEgottheDECAF · 06/06/2019 21:45

Yes thats parenthood for you!

Moraxella · 06/06/2019 22:20

Just randomly won the pram I was looking for and put on ice as expense on eBay, paid and then the seller has said the item sold before but Ebay wouldn’t let them cancel so there’s no item.

Karigan195 · 06/06/2019 22:21

Surely they can’t do that!

DustyDoorframes · 06/06/2019 23:13

@Pastaalldaylong bump measuring is hugely imprecise- it's only really useful if the same person does it each time- so your student measurement is likely to have been taking subtly differently too!
@Moraxella whaaaaaaattt???? Such a pain!!
@Whisky2014 what a day! V glad it was ok.
@Karigan195 I've never owned a changing bag. I think people who carry formula/water at a particular temperature like the insulated bits some of them have. We've just always used whatever. DP favours a cloth carrier bag/tote with longish handles. I prefer a backpack so seem to end up using my work bags while on mat leave and trashing them...

IVEgottheDECAF · 07/06/2019 07:28

Moraxella that is really crap of them, what pram was it? I like pram talk Grin

Another shit night sleep. My new pregnancy pillow should be delivered tonight. I have been looking at sleeping tips for SPD online and read that you shouldnt turn "over" but turn "under" so i did that last night. It definitely hurt me less. I really dont want to end up on fucking crutches Angry i cant do crutches with a 2 year old!

kyles101 · 07/06/2019 08:43

I bet the pram didn't go for as much as they wanted @Moraxella so they didn't want to sell it for that price (or pay for a reserve) it wouldn't surprise me if you saw it on there again in the next few weeks...

stormtrooperjulian · 07/06/2019 09:35

Could I ask for some pram advice?

Does anyone know where I can go to try out prams? Am looking at all terrain ones, went to Mothercare last night and they didn’t have any of the ones I wanted to look at. Will try Mamas and Papas and John Lewis at the weekend, but just wondering if anyone has any other ideas? I’m in Wiltshire.

My shortlist is the Mamas and Papas Ocarro, Jane Trider, Maxi Cosi Nova, Graco Evo XT, Phil and Teds Mod and the Obaby Chase 3. Anyone have any opinions on those?

IVEgottheDECAF · 07/06/2019 09:39

The ocarro is HUGE

Megan2018 · 07/06/2019 09:50

@stormtrooperjulian
The Ocarro is lovely. I don’t find it any bigger than anything else I am looking at, it compares well on folded size but it is quite heavy at over 13kg.
Maxi Cosi Nova is really heavy, over 16kg apparently. I like it style wise but have ruled it out due to weight.
The Jane Trider and Crosswalk r I’ve not been able to see in the flesh yet but were both on my list.

Nuna Mixx is on my list too as is Silver Cross Pioneer which is only 10kg so winning on weight. You may want to look at Oyster 3 too and Mountain Buggy Swift. The Swift carrycot converts to a parent facing seat and it is light and compact. I just can’t decide if I can put up with the air tyres.

I have ruled out the serious all terrain ones as they don’t parent face sadly. But I might change my mind! The Babyjogger City Mini GT is great in all other ways!

I am struggling to find stockists though of most things here to view in person.

Megan2018 · 07/06/2019 09:51

@IVEgottheDECAF
I really don’t find it any bigger than anything else I’ve seen. Is it definitely the latest model you’ve tried?
