Had a reasonably busy weekend but was excessively tired this morning- went back to bed after breakfast and I've only just gotten back up again - lay-zee! Feel much better now though so best crack on with some jobs!!

Hsunshine · 27/05/2019 13:40

Is anyone having a baby shower?

Megan2018 · 27/05/2019 13:55

@Hsunshine
Baby showers are not my cup of tea so very much hope not. But I didn’t have a hen do either. I wasn’t keen on the ones I’ve been to, and my close friends are scattered around the country so am just trying to catch up with them all separately before Sept.

Stroan · 27/05/2019 14:53

Not a proper baby shower but I might have an afternoon tea with one group of friends.

My friends don't all know each other and I find getting them together to be quite stressful! The pressure is on me to help them mingle.

TwittleBee · 27/05/2019 15:50

I'm having a babyshower, sister is organising it for me. But she's under strict instructions that there's to be no games and that partners and kids are to be invited too.

Originally I did want an afternoon tea one but I can't fork out to pay for everyone and I certainly can't expect that of my sister!

easterbuns1 · 27/05/2019 16:02

I don't have enough pals for a baby shower! They weren't really a big thing when i had the older two.

Been super busy with moving this week. Totally knackered myself and couldn't walk so trying to do just a little bit every day this week before big stuff gets moved at the weekend. Dc2 / baby's room is pretty much done though and it meant I could put all the baby clothes and things in the wardrobe at last.

No baby shower here. Never had one.

Read something online saying that the Joie Chrome DXL basically is the Nuna Mixx as its the same company using a different name. Anyone else looked at this? Mothercare currently have the Joie at £330 for pushchair, carrycot and carseat. Those items branded Nuna are more like £700. Just wondering what the actually difference is!

Dyra · 27/05/2019 16:34

I had a long chat with the Nuna guys at the baby show about this @DECAF. The basic chassis of the Joie chrome is used for the Mixx. Beyond that they're different. Even the mechanism to drop them down is different iirc.

boodles101 · 27/05/2019 16:39

No baby shower here either. Im not sure they are really suitable for 2nd child or more. Saying that I might organise an afternoon tea or BBQ but just as a celebration and catch up with friends. I don't expect to be getting out of the house much straight after the twins arrive so will be nice to just do something before hand.

IVEgottheDECAF · 27/05/2019 16:48

Ah i just cannot make any pram related decisions Shock

Megan2018 · 27/05/2019 17:27

I looked at the Joie and Nuna yesterday-they didn’t seem at all similar @IVEgottheDECAF

IVEgottheDECAF · 27/05/2019 17:42

What are your thoughts on the two Megan?

Dyra thats interesting thank you! I have watched a video on using the Nuna will see if can find a Joie one

TwittleBee · 27/05/2019 17:50

Yeah I think the baby shower my sister is organising will hopefully have more of the family catch up vibe. Only non-family coming are my 2 besties but they're practically family now.

Florencenotflo · 27/05/2019 18:04

No baby shower here either. I didn't want/have one with dd but I went out for a nice Italian meal with some friends. We were due to meet up anyway and my DH kind of hijacked it with banners and balloons! MIL told him (despite me telling him I didn't want one) that he should make a bit of a fuss Hmm

But not really my thing, especially as this is number 2.

Megan2018 · 27/05/2019 18:18

We are going to have a second look at the Nuna, I didn’t like the colour on the one Mothercare had in stock (not that I’d buy it from there) so want to see the other colours.
It isn’t quite as nicely finished as my 2 favourites (Silver Cross Pioneer andM&P Ocarro) but it is a fair bit cheaper so need to consider it properly as it was nice. It wasn’t on our list of ones to see so took us by surprise a bit.
I wasn’t keen on the Joie (although like the Joie 360 car seat).
Still need to look at a Quinny Buzz Extra, Jane Crosswalk and Uppababy Vista. Just need to find a local stockist. Then will look online for best price.

Karigan195 · 27/05/2019 18:30

I considered having an afternoon tea but decided against it. Too problematic and bound to offend someone.

We’ve been carpet shopping for the baby’s room today. Will be able to sort stuff soon!

IVEgottheDECAF · 27/05/2019 18:42

How is the Nuna size wise to the Occaro?

excitednerves · 27/05/2019 18:47

I’m having a baby shower. I originally didn’t want one but lots of people have asked if I’m having one so I have given in. My friend wants to plan it, so who am I to stop her? Will prob just be in a pub garden, friends, snacks. Absolutely no expectation of gifts etc. Just hanging out with my friends.

excitednerves · 27/05/2019 18:49

@megan2018 I loved the Ocarro too but went for the flip xt3 in the end. Got an amazing deal in Bournemouth Baby Centre based on the recommendation from someone on here (pushchair, carrycot, car seat and isofix for £800 with a few bits like cup holder thrown in).

Megan2018 · 27/05/2019 18:51

@IVEgottheDECAF
I didn’t put them side by side, but I’d say similar. The fold might be slightly smaller on the Nuna and I think the carrycot is slightly smaller too. Similar weight I think. The fold on the Nuna seemed quite easy.
I definitely want to give it another look.

Karigan195 · 27/05/2019 18:57

We’ve been bouncy chair shopping today too. If anyone’s looking at the joie dreamer it’s £7 cheaper online from precious little one than pretty much everywhere else

IVEgottheDECAF · 27/05/2019 18:59

Hmmm i have used an Ocarro briefly and found it too big and heavy for me (i am only small!) Really need to go look at some prams in person

kyles101 · 27/05/2019 19:03

@Megan2018 that 360 car seat is under £200 on Emma's diary app if you don't mind burgundy but not sure on usual price TBH

Ds, best friend and SIL all had strict instructions absolutely no baby showering on pain of death.

I’m 5ft 3 @IVEgottheDECAF but strong! (horses do that to you). I think there was less than 1kg between the 3 I looked at, none of them are light so lifting into boot not going to be easy. But there is nothing very light that is all terrain and does what we need.
The M&P Flip XT looked good for a lighter weight if you don’t need big tyres. No good for us though.

Dyra · 27/05/2019 20:05

The fold of the Ocarro was definitely smaller than the Mixx. Both are very easy to fold, but the Mixx is the easiest by far. It requires two hands though, while the Ocarro is do-able with just one. Can't remember if they felt different in weight. Ocarro might have been slightly lighter. The websites can tell you if there is. The colour options of the Ocarro are better (imo), but quality-wise they felt about the same. When it came down to it, I felt there wasn't £250 worth of difference between them for their similar bundles.
