@kyles101 I have no idea! Am still feeling relatively active (I build 8 flat-pack bookcases last week!) but if it's hot in the summer going to find it hard to do much other than drink iced drinks.

Is anyone here going for a second anomaly scan? Little man has his head all snuggled down low and no amount of cola/kit-kat/jumping up and down in the scan room (yep, I literally was asked to do that) could move him so they couldn't get the head measurements. But the scan report says brain and head appear fine, so am not too concerned

kyles101 · 25/05/2019 14:11

@GemmaJen it's so worrying isn't it - mine is basically food orientated so unless I've eaten something then i really have to concentrate to feel movements 🙄

Ha ha @boodles101 poor dh, mine is sill to get our 2 seater sports car sold... I think he's hoping I'll change my mind... nope!

@GivenchyDahhling I had to as they couldn't get the pics of the heart they needed due to position, again, coaxing did not work although knowing what I do now a kitkat probably would have! Was all fine when I went back.

Off to SIL for a bbq in a bit - loving the sunshine

Dyra · 25/05/2019 15:09

I needed 3 anomaly scans. First one baby was in a bad position, so the sonographer couldn't get pictures of the heart. They were running over an hour and half behind at this point, so I got an appointment for the following week.

Second one, baby had managed to get itself into a worse position and refused to move. So I went away, walked the length of the hospital, went up and down 10 flights of stairs, ate a cooked breakfast and drank a bottle of Pepsi Max. Something worked and baby was finally in a good position for scan number 3.

Love building flat pack furniture. Can't wait until I get to build the bits for the nursery.

DustyDoorframes · 25/05/2019 15:22

Me too @dyra, I love a flat pack! Although I'm trying to be ethical (and thrifty) and get all second hand, no fun.
Hope everything's ok @TwittleBee and you are having a lovely chilled weekend...

Moraxella · 25/05/2019 15:55

Think I just did my last park run 😰 25 degree sun 🤠

excitednerves · 25/05/2019 22:10

@GivenchyDarling me! I had two attempts and then ended up coming back the following week. I think it’s quite common as a girl in work warned me about it too. You just get to see baby twice! Bonus!

TwittleBee · 26/05/2019 07:37

@kyles101 much better thank you! Hope you enjoyed the bbq. Thank you to you too for asking @DustyDoorframes

Attended my cousin's wedding yesterday and was fine for most of it! Of course I danced too much and appear to have dislodged my bloody show again 🤦‍♀️

Bloomin heck @Moraxella hope you had posts of water afterwards.

TwittleBee · 26/05/2019 09:00

Corr I do feel rough this morning though, feel hungover despite not drinking

kyles101 · 26/05/2019 09:04

Ha ha - I think it's remembered connotations - I was drinking some J20 fizz things out of a wine glass yesterday and swear I felt tipsy!!

TwittleBee · 26/05/2019 09:07

Haha maybe! But I never usually get hangovers!

excitednerves · 26/05/2019 09:39

What’s your favourite thing you’ve bought so far? I love taking out all the tiny clothes and just looking at them! Literally at least once a week I spread them all out on the bed! Lol.

Current faves are -
www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-partners-baby-giraffe-romper-multi/p3907380?size=newborn
And www.next.co.uk/g52630s5#606973

I do need to stop buying clothes though, at least until baby arrives.

Can’t wait for the pram / pushchair to arrive this week. Will have hours of fun folding and unfolding it!

2nd time mums (or more) anything you think is a must have before baby is here?

Dyra · 26/05/2019 09:54

I really need to crack on and buy some baby clothes. I have a whole two babygros.... Blush

But my pram did arrive the other day. Pram go up! Pram go down! Endless entertainment!

Stroan · 26/05/2019 10:39

@excitednerves

Something for the baby to sleep in
Blankets
Basic clothes (vests, babygros, socks, hat?
Car seat
Muslins
Changing bag (any bag to transport the piles of crap you find that you need!)
Stockpiles of painkillers (for you, just in case!)
Cotton wool/wipes
Nappies
Some kind of nappy cream
Thermometer
Baby bath
Pram
Feeding pillow
A water bottle or insulated cup in case you are stuck feeding for hours

There's lots of other nice to haves, or things that you might prioritise having (i had things like a breast pump ready, others might have a steriliser or perfect prep depending on their plans) but babies actually need hardly anything!

Other non-essential stuff I had pre-baby, or at least pre-maternity pay, but didn't need for ages:

Bouncer
Playmat
Cot
Video monitor
Sling
Baby wash/shampoo etc (got chucked as DD had sensitive skin)
Some simple toys
Gro-bags
Gro-egg

TwittleBee · 26/05/2019 10:39

Don't really think anything is a must have because you can pretty much get anything and everything from supermarkets last second (as we needed to with DS when he arrived early).

Fav thing I've bought so far is probably the rainbow blankets I found in TKMaxx

excitednerves · 26/05/2019 10:59

Oooh rainbow blankets sound lovely @twittlebee

@stroan I’ve been wondering about getting a breast pump in advance. Did you use it early on? There is always amazon prime I guess for urgent things.

Got (or plan to get) most things on your essentials list - reassuring though!

Megan2018 · 26/05/2019 11:10

I think I love the nappies and grosnugs best so far, seriously cute!

We have been given more baby toys than you could possibly need so they just need cleaning.
I have also got 5 black bags of clothes to wash and sort.
Only things left on our list are:
Pushchair, car seat, bedside crib sheets and mattress protector, steriliser, monitor and nappy cream.
We also will buy a few more clothes, not that we need them but I’d like to choose some myself.

Stroan · 26/05/2019 12:10

@excitednerves I did as I had used one in hospital, I was in for a few days and we had trouble breastfeeding. I used it mainly to keep my supply up whenever we did a top up formula feed. That said, I mainly really had it because it was a prime day bargain!

excitednerves · 26/05/2019 13:10

Top tip @stroan! I forgot about prime day!

@moraxella that set is sooooo cute!

Megan2018 · 26/05/2019 14:46

First look at pushchairs today, both the Silvercross Pioneer and M&P Ocarro in the running as both fit in the boot with the parcel shelf out (nothing fits with it in).
Still more to look at, just need to find local stockists as not much choice out here. But I feel better knowing there’s at least some that will work off road and in my car!

Stroan · 26/05/2019 17:10

Kicked off a big clear out today and turned the baby's room back into a nursery rather than a storage space. So achey now but feeling a bit emotional about another tiny person using this room.

BBell2 · 26/05/2019 19:02

That's lovely @stroan I love grey and yellow, the storage/changer is perfect! Couldnt be without Kallax since having a baby. Smile

Stroan · 26/05/2019 19:25

Thank you! I'm mostly pleased I still like the decor, four years on. There's yellow shelves, art and a ribbon mobile on the other side to add a bit more colour.

Embarrassed to say that storage is so old, it's actually the predecessor to the Kallax! Stores SO much though.

Tefiti2 · 26/05/2019 20:40

If anyone is looking for breast pumps, the Haakaa silicone breast pump with stopper is down to £9.99 here, it’s normally £29.99! Received it and can confirm it’s the real deal.

Florencenotflo · 27/05/2019 08:17

Hi all, I've just spent an hour reading and catching up! Haven't been on in a while, overtime at work is nearly finished (2 weeks to go) but I've been working 6 days a week since it started 💤💤💤

It's nice to read all the updates and exciting that everyone has been doing lots of shopping! This is dd2 so we're re-using most of DD's stuff, not much shopping here! I can't convince DH we need a new pushchair (we really don't). Dd had the Silver Cross Pioneer which we'll re-use. I really wanted the mamas and papas flip XT!

We've bought Dd a big bed so that's being delivered this week, we can then move the cot bed into baby's room. I've treated myself to a new sling, the one I had for Dd is still useable but it's quite a thick stretchy wrap, I've bought a lightweight boba wrap in case the weather is still warm! I've also bought one of those haakka pumps, it was only £9.99 on Amazon so worth a try!

We've bought a few new bits of clothing but I really need to pull my finger out and get DD's stuff out of storage in the spare room and see what's useable. She was January born and always a size ahead of her age so it'll be interesting to see what will fit this one and when!
