@DustyDoorframes i suppose that is true! tbf they did say any more cramping / contractions to go in too just in case its all kicking off - urgh! I dont want to be the one who lives in triage

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 23/05/2019 07:59

Sorry for all of you struggling with various aspects. I'm still throwing up a lot and feel exhausted so feel your pain - I'm also feeling that the glamour of pregnancy is a big ol' lie! Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on changing bags. I have a changing bag that matches my travel system from dd, but since I am expecting her to mostly go on the buggy board am wanting a backpack style one. I'm mostly looking on Amazon but it's so hard to know which is actually best. Thoughts?

DustyDoorframes · 23/05/2019 08:00

@TwittleBee yeah, triage isn't really the most attractive hangout... if it feels proper crampy it does sound like its where you need to be though. Can you take a laptop so at least you feel like you are not wasting the day (which you wouldn't be even if you were sat there reading a magazine, and that would prob be better for your mental health!)?

DustyDoorframes · 23/05/2019 10:54

@TwittleBee how are you doing? Xxx

Karigan195 · 23/05/2019 11:10

@GemmaJen how are you this morning?

@twittlebee. Hope everything calms down!

Stroan · 23/05/2019 11:49

Hope everything is ok @twittlebee

@dustydoorframes yes, potentially, I'm a digital marketer. But I've done freelance and contracting before and just hated it. I'm very much a team person and I thrive on working on long term projects and strategies.

GemmaJen · 23/05/2019 12:08

@TwittleBee hope it's calmed down for you? Worth a call to the midwife if nothing else.

@Karigan195 feeling better thank you. Spoke to midwife team this morning and they were happy for me to just monitor. Basically if your rhesus negative (I'm not), get any abdominal pains, discharge/ bleeding, change in baby movements or land directly on your stomach they'd want to see you asap. But as I landed on my hip and little one is still kicking away it's most likely fine. Definitely feeling a little beaten up today though, my ribs where I twisted are really sore, but it could have been worse, think I'm going to leave the hay related tasks to others going forwards, which is nice as it's my least favorite chore. 😄

Karigan195 · 23/05/2019 12:27

I’ve had to pay someone to do the hay for the last 4 years when I suddenly developed an allergy to it!

Glad you are feeling better. :)

TwittleBee · 23/05/2019 13:43

Has calmed down with use of paracetamol so just got through the meetings. Going to see how it goes tonight and call her if need be. Tbf, she does come to my house to assess me before sending me to triage so might not even have to go in!

DustyDoorframes · 23/05/2019 17:11

@TwittleBee that sounds good!!
@Stroan I know what you mean!!! I'm hopeless at home on my own trying to do work. I bet there are tons of really small organisations that couldn't afford someone like you, but would really benefit from a day of your time each week. But many employers have such trouble imagining part time work beyond really drudgey roles!!

GivenchyDahhling · 23/05/2019 17:55

Hello! Sorry, a bit late to the party, but hoping I can crash - due 29th September so might not end up being a September baby after all! First pregnancy, scared but so so excited Grin

kyles101 · 23/05/2019 18:44

Hi Givenchy welcome 👋

Hope everything stays settled twittle

So today was pretty awkward at work for a time, there were some doors being slammed - not by me I might add - but I think we got there in the end, I genuinely don't think he meant to upset me, although quite what he thought the result of that behaviour would be is beyond me. Then he did a weird thing of telling others off for bitching and gossiping in the office... which is what got him in trouble 🤷‍♀️ Oh well, bank holiday weekend nearly thank god! And we have three new interviewees lined up for Tuesday - yay!

stormtrooperjulian · 24/05/2019 07:04

@TwittleBee how are you feeling today?

Welcome @GivenchyDahhling

I’ve got my repeat scan on Tuesday, will be 23+1 then. Just need to get a couple of extra photos, he was so active last time that the photos weren’t coming out clear but apparently everything looked good so nothing to worry about, so I am looking forward to seeing the baby again.

I’ll be telling work about the pregnancy on Tuesday too. My manager knows but no one else. Am kinda nervous about it, I work with all men and I don’t want to be treated differently. Can’t hide it any longer though, have been on holiday for 3 weeks and I’m properly showing now.

BBell2 · 24/05/2019 08:54

@stormtrooperjulian I just told some people at work...only one person had noticed (a woman) every bloke, I work in an engineering team we are not gender balanced, was surprised! I'm relieved to wear more revealing clothing, but I reckon my lunch mates still didnt notice - we do quizzes it's a right laugh but we just dont talk about live stuff- they might notice when I'm about to drop or when we do an ale trail in a month and im not drinking.

TwittleBee · 24/05/2019 10:45

Welcome @GivenchyDahhling ! Always lovely to see new people join.

I had more cramps this morning, still getting them now but I’m over 2 hours drive from home today as at a Council Hearing, something I really can’t rearrange. I think I will call my midwife tomorrow morning if I get them for a 3rd day.

DustyDoorframes · 24/05/2019 13:35

Twittle that's so stressful!!!! Hopefully they are fading out right now.
Welcome Givenchy!

KnobJockey · 24/05/2019 16:36

Oh Twittle, I hope they ease off for you soon!

I'm just getting sorted and packed for a weekend in Middlesbrough for big weekend- I find it stressful to figure out what to take with me at the best of times, never mind what to wear to a festival in the UK with mixed weather when nearly 6 months pregnant! I've gone for cullottes and boyfriend jeans with vest tops, with a maxi dress for spare, and I'm cursing the fact that the type of top means I'm going to have to wear a proper bra all weekend cos I look too saggy otherwise!

kyles101 · 24/05/2019 20:13

I've had a maternity bra on all week - the bliss!!

GivenchyDahhling · 24/05/2019 20:43

Thanks all for the welcome - sorry to hear about awkwardness at work @kyles101 - I’ve been having a really tough time, lack of support, no risk assessment (have asked three times for it), and coupled with pregnancy hormones have been a complete emotional wreck and signed off for last couple of weeks. Humph.

kyles101 · 24/05/2019 21:43

Ah, sorry to hear that. Honestly I just don't know why things are made so difficult for pregnancy women / mothers in the workplace. I hope there is change by the time our children are experiencing this. All we can do is keep trying to be heard and kicking up a fuss in the meantime. Are you going back any time soon? Surely being signed off must make them sit up and take a bit of notice?

New look 25% off including maternity... well pay day today, it would be rude not to 😉

GivenchyDahhling · 24/05/2019 22:57

Well I’m a teacher so half term next week. Trying to arrange going back but they’re being so bloody difficult - am lucky though; seven weeks, summer, then I go on maternity leave. So despite my gripes I’m in a better position than most.

New Look is good! I found their sizing v generous too (whereas normally have to size up). Zara allegedly have a maternity range now although of the stuff I ordered none of it seemed to actually be any different - just a few more elasticated options.

kyles101 · 25/05/2019 01:08

I would have thought a school would have been fairly hot on that sort of thing!? Apparently not. Seven weeks, oh I'm jealous - I'm hoping I'm somewhere around 12 but I'm not looking too closely at the calendar in case I'm disappointed!! What will you do with all that lovely time to yourself? I've changed my mind and ideally want to go 3 weeks before my dd but am a bit worried in case that means 5 weeks of my own company (as much as I love my dog, I'm not sure she counts..)

Ha ha - I've just sized myself up on my order actually- whoops!! Oh well I reckon I've put on at least a dress size anyway I can return if need be....

kyles101 · 25/05/2019 01:09

@TwittleBee I hope everything is ok?

GemmaJen · 25/05/2019 11:49

@kyles101 glad to hear you got a positive response. Hopefully he'll behave himself going forward 🤞 Ive been so lucky with work so far, but I know it's s challenge for lots of you.

Been to maternity triage this morning, first visit. Little one has been still all morning since 5am. luckily heartbeat sounding good and the midwife was lovely about it. First visit of many I'm sure 🙈

boodles101 · 25/05/2019 12:54

Glad everything's ok Gemma I do worry about my boy twins movements as he doesn't move anywhere near as much as girl twin. But then it's hard to know which ones actually moving!

I've woken up in full nesting mode today, cleaned the entire house. Put away all the new baby clothes. Then decided that DH had had enough time to sell his office things from what will be the nursery, so I've listed them all on Facebook marketplace and sold most already! Once they are gone I can get the cot set up!
