I was looking at classes last night, there doesn't appear to be a lot in our area, including NCT although I couldn't justify the cost. I couldn't see any info on NHS ones in the area either, was going to message my midwife but at 20 weeks I wasn't sure if I was jumping the gun. In exciting news we ordered our pram/travel system at the weekend and it's arrived today!

fonxey · 10/07/2019 17:40

Yay! What pram did you get?

The nhs isn't good at giving up information sometimes. My mw said to book soon though (told me at 16wks) cos they get booked up quick.

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 10/07/2019 18:51

@fonxey I will message her then, thanks. We got the Cosatto Wow got a really good deal online including car seat and everything.

fonxey · 10/07/2019 19:21

@smartcarnotsosmartdriver ha! Yes got the same! Car seat thrown in though not the port thing. I got the fox tale design which did you get? It looks really good and the reviews are all positive.

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 10/07/2019 20:10

@fonxey we got hygge houses, a website called trendy baby had an absolute bargain on that one pattern and we liked it so we took it. It's one of the few that actually folds small enough for the boot of my smart car!

fonxey · 10/07/2019 20:42

Of i looked the hygge one too. And yeah that is a good deal for the hygge! Less than what we paid bit then is still have wanted the fox tale cos i love foxes so much.

I love cosatto. Style with apparent practicality and quality as well! I want their high chair too, the 3sixty or whatever it is called. Dragon design.

Feeling like an old women. My knees and legs feel so stiff I’m finding it hard to walk after a while. I have hyper mobile joints so I expected them to be lose like they were last time. Anyone else had the same?

I’m 17 wks

CourgetteAndCrisps · 13/07/2019 22:08

Hey @Lemlem85 - I'm 18 weeks and getting lower back pain. I slipped a disc snowboarding a few years ago, so always knew this might come back to haunt me with a baby shifting my posture / an increase in relaxin.

An Epsom salt bath definitely helps!

codenameduchess · 15/07/2019 08:16

How's everyone doing?

I had been getting some stronger and more frequent movements towards the end of last week but over the weekend it's gotten less again, still some so assuming baby has just moved behind the placenta again... I hate having an anterior placenta! I spent half of my first pregnancy worrying about movements because of it and looks like it's no different this time.

Still, 20 weeks today and that half way mark feels good!

peamad · 15/07/2019 12:47

Hi @codenameduchess it must be hard having irregular movements. I am 16+5 now and not feeling much at all. Occassional flutters when I am sitting still, usually in the evening but nothing regular at all. Apart from that I am doing ok, we have a fetal echocardiogram (heart scan) and consultant appt next Wed at 18 weeks which I am eager to get over and done with. Trying to trust that everything will be fine, but feeling a constant low level of anxiety. My DH is really struggling too.

codenameduchess · 15/07/2019 13:37

Sorry your struggling @peamad was something picked up at your dating scan or is it something genetic they are checking? it is hard waiting for these things when you just want it done and answers.
Does your dh talk about how he's struggling? Mine is bad for keeping it to himself then exploding over something trivial.

peamad · 15/07/2019 14:27

Our second baby died at 21weeks due to a genetic condition which caused multiple heart defects. So this scan is precautionary to check for similar problems. No he really struggles to talk about it, although he has recently started counselling which seems to be helping. He recently told me he is avoiding talking to me about it as he doesn't want me to get anxious/depressed and for it to affect the baby :(

codenameduchess · 15/07/2019 14:34

I'm so sorry @peamad that is an awful worry to be carrying.

it's nice in a way that your dh is trying to protect you, it can be good to talk to each other about your concerns though and work through it together.

elephantmarch · 15/07/2019 18:59

@peamad if it’s any reassurance my flutters are irregular at 20 and a bit weeks. I’ll be praying your scan goes well and can really put yours and your husbands mind at rest. I have a bad memory, sorry, did you do an extra test like a harmony type test earlier on through the nhs which came out ok? Or was that someone else

I had my scan today and everything was present and accounted for but measuring small. Hope to call the midwives tomorrow to see what that means as google is doom and gloom. Otherwise my next appt is not for 8 weeks which seems a long way off.

Been hearing really good things about hypnobirthing. Is anyone doing it?

codenameduchess · 15/07/2019 19:37

@elephantmarch I'm considering it, I didn't last time and erm.... lost my shit got a bit emotional towards the end stretch when I couldn't have gas and air or pethidene and was too late for an epidural but since then a friend did hypno birthing and said she found it really useful and helped her a lot so I'm willing to give it a go!

Are you looking at doing a course?

peamad · 16/07/2019 09:30

Thanks @elephantmarch. No we have just had the 12 week dating scan, no extra tests e.g. harmony. Were all of the measurements on your scan small, or just some of them? I hope you get some reassurance from your midwife.

We will be doing hypnobirthing. Will probably arrange a private class for my DH and I. We have such a complex and traumatic history re: labour/birth that I don't think we could manage a group class.

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 16/07/2019 10:43

Morning everyone, I had my 20 week scan this morning but they couldn't see his heart properly and we're going back next week, I'm so worried that they saw something but want to confirm before they worry us.

CourgetteAndCrisps · 16/07/2019 11:01

Hey @smartcarnotsosmartdriver - So sorry to hear this, you must be insanely worried.

Off the top of my head I think doctors have to be fairly transparent and tell you even if there is a suggestion that something could be wrong.

Probably worth calling your midwife and asking about protocol. You could also look into a private scan too if you want some answers quicker.

Xx

peamad · 16/07/2019 11:14

What a huge worry @smartcarnotsosmartdriver, when do you go back? I have been through the same experience with a previous pregnancy and know exactly what you are going through. The only reassurance I can give is that your baby will get the best possible care via the NHS. I imagine you will get a specialist heart scan (fetal echocardiagram) which will give you a detailed assessment of baby's heart. If you want to talk privately about the process please feel free to msg me.

Issywizzybelle · 16/07/2019 11:25

Hello! Sorry I haven't posted much since first posting. I'm 17+1 today and feeling some random kicks every now and then. Been thinking I'd like to join the Facebook group if I may?

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 16/07/2019 12:48

Thank you @CourgetteAndCrisps and @peamad they've said it's just to see what they couldn't see and they haven't asked for a consultant to do it, just a sonographer.
I have looked at a private anomaly scan but I'm worried if they still didn't get a good view then I'd be even more upset? I've contacted my midwife, she said that if there had been anything concerning then they would have had to tell me. So that's reassured me a little.

codenameduchess · 16/07/2019 12:49

@smartcarnotsosmartdriver I had the same, couldn't see the heart properly so we had to go back a week later and everything was fine, it was just in an awkward position. If they see something concerning you'd be told straight away, I also had a sonographers report in my maternity notes after the first scan- have a look and see if you've got one in there.

CourgetteAndCrisps · 16/07/2019 13:05

@smartcarnotsosmartdriver that's definitely reassuring to hear. No news is good news - it sounds like little one was just feeling camera shy.

Waiting for your next NHS scan sounds like a good idea too.

I know it's going to sound impossible, but try and busy yourself from sitting and worrying while you wait - Go get your nails done, work it out in the gym or grab tea and cake with the girls. Even if you don't feel like it just go through the motions and line up those distractions. Xx

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 16/07/2019 14:17

Thanks everyone @codenameduchess I only have a sonographers report from my first scan at the private place we went to. I don't have anything further than that, I think I just need to keep my head a bit.

@CourgetteAndCrisps thank you, I think I will, I'll be 22 weeks by the time I go back so I'm hoping the extra growing will have helped. DH is off today and tomorrow evening so I'll have some company and my mums pretty good at keeping me company at the weekend when he's at work so I'll just try and stay busy. Good shout on the nails thought but I'll save some pennies and do them myself, I have a nice yellow gel colour that I haven't tried yet.

CourgetteAndCrisps · 16/07/2019 15:50

Nice plan @smartcarnotsosmartdriver! I'm long overdue a home spa night. I've got a facemask and hair mask with my name on it.

Hey @Issywizzybelle! How are you and bump doing? I'd love to join the Facebook group too please.
