How has everyone decided what pram to buy? I've been trying out a few, and picking recent mum friends brains, and almost every one has said that they have stopped using their big pram by about 10-12 months, and just use a lighter buggy instead. That's fine with me, I'm happy to buy a smaller, lighter pram rather than go all out (although I find the egg prams very good looking!)

That's made me think of either the baby jogger city premier lux- light, folds tiny, front and parent facing, carrycot, easy to fold, feels lovely to push BUT doesn't travel well off road due to tiny wheels so no good for dog walks (only local fields, nothing exciting).

A friend also recommends the oyster zero, small, good looking, she said it's coped okay on the beach so should be fine on fields, can get a carrycot, good value BUT seat only goes front facing, so baby is in there as soon as it's out of the carrycot.

It's so hard to make a decision!

Tefiti2 · 26/04/2019 08:30

@KnobJockey I’ve decided on a Bugaboo buffalo - we have rubbish pavement and are semi rural so I’m hoping it’ll be the best of both worlds :-)

Has anyone used a co sleeper crib before? Any recommendations? We didn’t use one with DC1 but would like to try one this time!

Megan2018 · 26/04/2019 09:16

@Tefiti2
I was recommended the Tutti Bambini Cozee crib and luckily I picked one up that was only a few months old in the next village for only £60 so just needs a new mattress.
I prefer the style of it over the Next to Me but both review well.
The Snuzpod is a bit smaller which put me off as it doesn't seem to last as long.

easterbuns1 · 26/04/2019 09:20

21 weeks today. Scan on Wednesday I was glad at first it was a bit later at 21+5 as it spread them out a bit but it seems to have taken to come round!

I got a second hand cameleon 3 for a really good price. I've bought a different fabric pack and need to change mattress in the carry cot so we are ready to go. Wasn't that fussed about off road as I will probably just sling her if we are out with the dog out of town.

So i said to my mum about these bedside cots like the next to me cot. She asked what the point was and i said so if I breastfeed I dont have to get up. She said "but you'll have to get up for changing nappies anyway". Hadn't thought of that. So really, what is the point of them?!
I'm really confused what to buy. I know initially baby will be in same room as us so we need something but for baby's room we intend to buy a cot bed which will last until baby is 7 or so. And also I dont want my husband waking up needlessly in the might so I might stay in the baby's room with baby in cotbed.

Do i need another thing for our own bedroom and do I need something else for downstairs?!

Megan2018 just started working my way down your list and i really like the look of the maxi cosi nova pram.

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 26/04/2019 09:32

Today is going to be a grumpy day. Buyer of our house has just pulled out, so we can’t proceed with our house purchase at the minute - feel really at sea! Not knowing where I’ll be when we get to due date is stressing me already. I know what will be will be but I want to try to plan damnit!

And the bloke in the priority seat on tube totally ignored my baby on board badge — second day in a row it’s happened - I know I’m perfectly able to stand (and often prefer it when not pregnant) but the line I get is so jerky and rammed, and I worry about them breaking suddenly. Just riles me up when I see they clock the badge and then go back to being glued on their phones. I feel awkward about asking for a seat - isn’t that the whole point of the badge so you don’t have to feel awkward asking!

Re bedside cots - we have the Snuzpod and loved it with DD. Obviously it’s easy for breastfeeding in the night but I just loved the closeness of being able to hold my babies had or rub their belly during the night.

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 26/04/2019 09:34

*braking even!

Megan2018 · 26/04/2019 09:34

@Whisky2014

It's not so much just for easy breastfeeding but so the baby feels close to you - with the side down you can easily touch them to reassure etc and they feel much closer to you like bed sharing but safer.
And you don't have to change every feed at night or so I am told (only if they poo), not with cloth anyway, so definitely reduces the getting up. You just pull them into you to feed lying down and then out them back again - in theory.

They aren't a must have but I think much more useful than a moses basket as they are bigger so last much longer - and the one I have also works as a travel cot as it folds up into a bag easily for taking away with you. So much more multi-purpose than a moses basket.

But I don't think they are worth paying full price for. Mine was £60 plus £20 for new mattress. I'd not pay the full £185!

Yes I like the look of the Maxi Cosi Nova too - just not had a chance to see it in the flesh yet.
I have been watching all of the video reviews on the Pushchair Expert Youtube channel. I am rather addicted to it!

Whisky2014 · 26/04/2019 09:39

Ah ok thats all good to kniwm eek i feel bad for not thinking of just the comfort side.

Well, hopefully we can get some deals at this baby show! And try some of these prams out

Fortheloveofscience · 26/04/2019 09:40

Urgh Bridget sounds like you’re completely entitled to a grumpy day. Beyond irritating when people don’t let you have a seat when you’re badge-wearing, doesn’t happen to me very often but I find it’s rarely the people in the priority seats that stand up, more likely someone kind sat halfway down.

So shit about your buyer, fingers crossed you get another offer quickly and can pick up where you left off. Were you on the market for long initially?

GemmaJen · 26/04/2019 09:53

@BridgetJonesDaiquiri feel for you, house buying/selling is a nightmare. We moved last year, we had 2 buyers drop out on us and one who lost their buyer half way through. Such a stressful time, hopefully it'll be sorted very soon, will the house you are buying wait for you?

Megan2018 · 26/04/2019 10:16

@BridgetJonesDaiquiri
Oh gosh - I feel for you! We moved last year and it was unbelievably stressful - I can't imagine doing it pregnant!
We were buying a new build cottage (local builder - not a development) and were were guaranteed a completion date which failed. So we had to complete on our sale so as to not lose our buyer and become homeless for several weeks. it was not fun! Hats off to you for doing it while expecting! i hope all goes ok in the end.

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 26/04/2019 10:52

Thanks all for the well wishes! Our house has been on the market for a few months, we’ve dropped the price today to try and get more interest and snap up a buyer. Hopefully the house we want will hang about for a while 🤞🏻. We’re determined to sell regardless though and will move into rental if need be while we find another place - at least then we’d be chain free buyers. It’s the not knowing/not being able to plan/crystal ball gazing that is so stressful. I’m ok about the actual move itself, possible house reno (by others! not us if we can avoid) etc - even when heavily pregnant or with newborn. I suppose having had a newborn once before I’m a little less worried about how to do it all with a baby in tow - they are infinitely more chill and portable than my toddler DD will be!

DustyDoorframes · 26/04/2019 12:43

Argh @BridgetJonesDaiquiri it's just so unsettling, even when going smoothly! I hate moving. Fingers crossed someone snaps your house up and it all gets back on track ASAP.

@Whisky2014 my newborns have only ever pooed at night for a few days (and I've set up a mini changing station at the foot of the bed...). I love a sideacar cot!

Megan2018 · 26/04/2019 13:18

Just spent a fortune on Nappies, if you join www.facebook.com/groups/TNLParentGroup/ there is a discount code for 20% most things.

I've got my BTP stash sorted and accessories now. Now I will wait and see if baby is going to be much smaller than 8lb before I invest in any newborn sizes. I've saved nearly £100 though so that's positive!

Dipsy77 · 26/04/2019 13:38

Anyone else still experiencing bleeding ? I had mild period cramps about an hour ago just been to loo
And loads of brown blood with a tinge of pink I've spoken to midwife who has told me to go to triage at hospital I'm waiting for DP to come home from work to take me I'm 19+5 and panicking like mad, I was changing the nursery round 2 days ago and I'm hoping I haven't caused anything Sad

BBell2 · 26/04/2019 14:10

@Dipsy77 not this pregnancy but did late in my first a few times - 25 weeks+ always brown/pink almost mixed with a bit of mucus. Wasn't serious (scarring from endometriosis stretching and cervix changing) and always worth being checked. I few on here have had recent bleeds too, good luck at Triage.

Megan2018 · 26/04/2019 14:14

@Dipsy77
Hope it is ok, I've not had any personally but I think it is very common and often nothing serious.
Let us know how you get on.

Lavellan · 26/04/2019 14:29

@BridgetJonesDaiquiri we're also selling. We just signed mortgage papers this week. We both feel like we can't breathe out until the money and keys are transferred. It's that constant background-level stress, can't wait till it's behind us!

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 26/04/2019 15:55

@Dipsy77 I haven’t but I’m sure it’s nothing to worry about, particularly if you’ve had bleeding before. Fingers crossed all is well and you’re seen quickly xx

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 26/04/2019 15:56

@Lavellan how exciting! How far off exchange are you?

DustyDoorframes · 26/04/2019 16:18

Thinking of you @Dipsy77 ! V glad the MW has packed you off to triage, and hopefully that will put your mind to rest without needing to hang about too long!

Lavellan · 26/04/2019 16:34

If Virgin money pull the finger out it'll be over by the end of next week!

Whisky2014 · 26/04/2019 16:39

@Megan2018 What sizes did you buy?

Karigan195 · 26/04/2019 16:40

Ladies check your local council. Seems mine does a voucher to help purchase reuseable nappies!
