I'm going to get more Summer Infant SwaddleMe's this time. DD screamed blue murder every time we used a gro snug but loves the SwaddleMe. Unfortunately I lent them to a "friend" who thought it was a permanent gift and gave them to a charity shop so I'll need to buy more.

I'm driving myself a bit mad with clothes. DD didn't fit anything newborn or 0-1 months so I'm mainly trying to get 0-3. But I'm having an ELCS slightly earlier, this one might not get so huge. Who knows! But I can't find any gender neutral stuff I like anyway. Such blah colours.

Stroan · 29/04/2019 20:13

@whisky2014 we went for a cot as it fit perfectly into an alcove in the nursery! But also because I assumed I'd have another one needing a cot within 2-3 years (I didn't!) So.didnt want to faff about with transitioning to a cot bed and then a proper bed.

She went straight from her cot into a proper single bed at 2.

IVEgottheDECAF · 29/04/2019 20:14

I will just use blankets until baby is big enough for a sleeping bag!

Whisky2014 · 29/04/2019 20:17

Oh that's good Stroan. Yeh we started thinking if we have baby no2 then we'd need another cot at least so maybe it is best to buy 1 cot then transition to a bed. Then by that time baby will get the cot.

BBell2 · 29/04/2019 20:18

@stroan we will use Summer Infant SwaddleMe's two. I have three from DD, they are so light as not to overheat (can blanket over if needed) or can wriggle down like a bag. I loved them, it causes us a big problem when she outgrew...got a peanut snug then into a bag and she went mental for nights on end....then did when we tried to get rid of the bags. I need a sleeper this time!

Megan2018 · 29/04/2019 20:54

My Little Lambs have arrived! I actually squealed in excitement. So cute! And such a bargain
The Nappy Lady stash should arrive this week too. DH just looked frightened Grin

Whisky2014 · 29/04/2019 22:43

It's so exciting isn't it Meghan! Mine arrive tomorrow!

DustyDoorframes · 30/04/2019 07:34

Ohh @Whisky2014 I LOVE our micralite! We only used slings when they were tiny though so I can see you might want something parent facing if you go straight in.

TwittleBee · 30/04/2019 07:34

Mine arrive today too!

So far I've got 3 newborn nappies and 7 one size nappies too. So with the lambs I'll have 5 Size 1 nappies too! I think we will hold off getting more until we know it works for us. I'm okay with using disposables if im out of clean cloth nappies.

Whisky2014 · 30/04/2019 08:14

@DustyDoorframes it is pretty good. One thing is though it fold down and is still very big. And how do you get in eith the lock clip at the bottom once you fold it, it's supposed to catch on it easily enough but we're finding you have to manually push it into place?

DustyDoorframes · 30/04/2019 08:42

@Whisky2014 the magic is that you can fold with crud in the basket (although it won't clip if you've got lots of stuff in it) and it just stands there in the corner, so it somehow takes up less space in your life. We are not car people though so that makes a difference. You can pop the wheels off and then it will go in the stupidly small overhead racks on the virgin pendolino train.

Megan2018 · 30/04/2019 09:24

@TwittleBee
Yes I’ll use the odd disposable if necessary. My friends who did cloth all recommended keeping a pack of cheap disposables at home in case of washing machine breakdown, power/water cuts and to keep 1 or 2 in changing bag/car for dire emergencies.
Same for trips away, I’ll use them for convenience sometimes- but by using cloth for the most part we’ll make a huge reduction in waste. No need to be martyrs though.

Moraxella · 30/04/2019 09:26

Can’t decide between a car seat that goes on the pram and one of those britax beasts that’s a permanent fixture in your car til age 4 🤷🏻‍♀️

Megan2018 · 30/04/2019 09:30

@Moraxella
Get one that spins is the advice I’ve been given. Saves your back!
I’m looking at the Joie and similar.

April88 · 30/04/2019 09:42

I’m going for the cybex cloud z which spins and you can upgrade to the Sirona when they are a toddler with the same base. It also lies flat on the pram @Moraxella

Lavellan · 30/04/2019 09:44

I was looking at the joie 360 but I've been given a maxi cosi from a friend and saving myself £300 for other things does now seem quite appealing. Hmm.

Megan2018 · 30/04/2019 10:01

@Lavellan
I’d save the £300. You can always upgrade later once baby weighs a ton. I don’t think it matters when they are little. It’s when they are heavy and protest that they are helpful I’m told!

Astret · 30/04/2019 10:08

Gosh, was away at in-laws for just over a week and now so much chat to catch up on! Looked at cute baby clothes with mum-in-law (natural organic, made in Cornwall) and didn't buy anything. Have discovered that holidays are now just as exhausting as usual life, and backache has begun. 20 week scan today though! Will likely be ordering vests and sleepsuits after ;)

Whisky2014 · 30/04/2019 10:21

Does anyone have the icandy peach or icandy peach all terrain?

Any issues or niggles you don't like?

Also looking at maxi cosi adorra or nova. Any info on them would also be good.

I'll deffo keep some disposables around the place for emergencies.

I'm waiting on more of the bumgenious elemental nappy being in stock. I thought nappy lady got a delivery yesterday but it's not appeared on the site yet. Still need to get a bucket or 2 since they were out of stock on the site too. She must be loaded! :D

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 30/04/2019 10:29

Morning ladies! Had my 20 week scan this morning, baby looking happy and healthy. Only thing the sonographer was concerned about was low lying placenta — does anyone else have this at the moment? I didn’t have any issues with that with DD. I’m consultant-led and have a 28 week scan booked in, so presumably they’ll check again then.

Whisky2014 · 30/04/2019 10:35

Hi Bridget, that's great about the scan. No my, placenta is ok but I understand they can move? I dont think there's anything to worry about for now.

Megan2018 · 30/04/2019 10:41

@BridgetJonesDaiquiri
Mine is high up but the sonographer said that they often move up and don’t move down. So hopefully yours will shift

TheCraicDealer · 30/04/2019 11:02

@Lavellan take the freebie- the fixed isofixes are great when they're older but the bucket seats are more convenient if baby might stay or go out with grandparents or you're taking someone else's car, taxi or whatever anywhere. You can take the monster seats in and out but they're heavy and it is a faff.

My plan is to get a bucket seat and then buy a Joie 360 or the Britax equivalent in the Black Friday or January sales, then we'll have a seat for each car for a while before she grows out of the bucket seat. It's the kind of thing my parents or DH's would happily contribute towards for her first Xmas rather than toys she won't know how to play with!

TwittleBee · 30/04/2019 11:06

In London today for work, no clue how you ladies who do this on a regular basis do it!

BridgetJonesDaiquiri I've a low lying placenta, spotted at 16 week scan. But they said it will move up. Should imagine you'll be booked in for an extra scan, maybe extra to your 28 week scan, to see if it has moved up? Think it's only an issue if it actually covers the cervix.

Love love love the Joie360! We have a maxi Cosi pebble, from when DS was smaller, but we ended up getting a Joie 360 as he outgrew the pebble at 6 months. Our plan is to use the pebble for this baby until he outgrows then get another Joie 360.

Stroan · 30/04/2019 11:11

@lavellan definitely take the freebie. I know we've had loads of chat about fixed seats Vs the bucket seats but for me, being able to take a sleeping baby out of the car without waking them up is vital. As is getting them into the car well wrapped up in rubbish weather.

Plus, it's free!
