J20 [sympathetic emoticon] I apparently ruined a family holiday for my mother by being similarly biy...(I did wait until I was 16 to do it though!)and was never invited on a family holiday again...silver lining to the cloud being that we get on just great now (and also that her biyness is very smart for a kid her age!...starting with an appology for her thoughts ...you will laugh about it one day)

FloriaTosca · 23/07/2007 18:26

Pheebe, sorry you are in pain again hope it goes quickly....I dont know if you found what triggered attacks from your gall bladder last time (for me it was any form of fat/oil in the tiniest amounts...for my Mum is was alcohol and citrus fruits)if you did, just in case it is a stone somewhere perhaps it might just be worth watching what you are eating for a day or two to see if that has any effect now...until your GP can sort you out [sympathy]

Hi everyone

J20 - sorry to hear that your weekend wasnt great. Since this is my PFB; i dont really have any advice but mentally makes me think about motherhood - not easy is it??

Pheebe - sorry to read you havent been feeling great. Re the hypnobirthing, I havent started to read the book yet - so cant really make a call on whether the book alone would have the same impact. Think the group environment helps me - it was also really positive to see how many people had chosen to take the course based on personal recommendations. But am sure the book is fantastic if classes are not doable. If you can - make sure you get the rainbow affirmations CD though. Played it last night as we went to sleep and DH (who normally struggles to fall asleep) was out for the count halfway through!

Hi all.
Still raining here! Might have to pop to bf's mum in Gloucester if they have no water. Friend in Faringdon's road is closed and there is panic buying in most supermarkets!!

Went to gym today and Oliie went to the creche which he loved. I swam 16 lengths and then had a lie down on one of the hot beds to try to ease my back. Wanted to go in the steam room but couldn't!!
I was booked in the post/pre natal class but I found out I was the only one (new gym, opened last week) and I had a bit of a pnaic attack but pulled myself together and had a swin instead.

Floria- Sorry to hear you're feeling weepy, I hate all these hormones flying around as I can;t tell what will upset me from one minute to the next! I hope tomorrow is better for you!

J20- Sorry to hear about your dd and her comments. I think what the others have said is a good idea but I do agree that she obvioulsy trusts you as she kicks off with you iykwim

by the way, thanks for all your messages re; dd, it doesn't help that i'm so tired, trying to cope with her.

i've also just spoke to my friend, and he's just booked a 2 week holiday on the 25th Sep, i felt like screaming 'what about me, what if i need you?!' but we are just good friends, so i can't eeally, think i'm feeling a bit vunerable atm

well, I found it very interesting stuff - had a traumatic first birth and am having an elective this time round, so am in the same position really. Amazing that the way the midwives were with her was exactly my experience - they were indifferent, made us feel like complete nuisances, didn't change my bed etc - so all in all quite interesting. I thought it'd freak me out but it has actually made me realise I have to go into this one with open eyes and low expecatations - it will be a different hospital though so fingers crossed! What did everyone else think??

nellieloula · 23/07/2007 21:12

j2o, meant to say hope everything goes ok with your DD. must be tough - thinking of you.

muppetgirl · 23/07/2007 21:14

Agree about the mw/hv shortages. My friend who had her baby a week and a half ago was discharged by her mw today and she doesn't know when she will see the hv. They 'hope' to see you in the 1st month!! (OMG) and her son won't have been weighed for a month so she doesn't know if he's gaining weight, feeding right etc.

lisad123 · 23/07/2007 21:22

God knew i should not have watched it.

I def agree about slowing growing babies, my midwife never measured me at all, just put in my notes the right weeks, however, when 29 weeks a doc noticed my little bump and order a scan, lucky for me as I have lost most of my water and my placenta was failing
Even now i have to ask to be measured, I know its not fool proof but surely should be done as standard.

Oh and when I was in ward this week for kidney infection there was one midwife on our ward and the HCA was serving food as house keeper had left and not been replaced. I had to buzz 3 times and still took 10 mins for someone to come as see me as i was chucking up everywhere

LOl @ my noted saying my meds were given late as I didnt wake to take them, hmmm maybe should take alarm with me next time.

Lets just say Im not looking forward to my stay in OCT!!!!

I think I'll be asking for the C section now

Lisa

nellieloula · 23/07/2007 21:25

muppet, are there no drop in clinics she could go to to get weighed? she should look up sure start cause they have good ones in most places now I think, certainly do here.

j20baby · 23/07/2007 21:26

i didn't hardly see any of it, but my mw have been quite good measuring me, although they say different to the doc when he measured me.

muppetgirl · 23/07/2007 21:31

She said no to the drop in as they are so short staffed but I didn't want to push it as she was worried. I think I was more worried than her...

She did have her mum staying with her the first week and she's had 6! so I think that's what reassured her.

muppetgirl · 23/07/2007 21:31

sorry she wasn't worried

WinnieThePooh · 23/07/2007 21:36

I missed it as DP and I went out for a Balti tonight. DD is with her grandparents tonight. THey collected her at 10am this morning and will bring her home at 10am tomoroow.

I could have done with you ladies this morning, but our internet connection was down due to the ISP doing some work at the local exchange. On saturday DP called the fraud dept of our bank as unauthorised payment had been taken from the account using my debit card details. They therefore stopped the card (Dp did not tell me this) Yesterday I did an online shop for delivery today, using the same card. I got a phone call from sainsbury about 1pm(delivery was booked 3-4pm) saying that the card had been declined. I called the bank to get told the card had been cancelled and a new one should be with me by Saturday. I was in tears by this stage as, although not totally out of food, I needed the milk that was on there. I tried calling DP, but his phone was switched off or it just rang out until it cut to the answerphone. I ended up leaving 4 tearful messages asking him to call them before 2pm with payment details so I could get my delivery. At 3pm the doorbell rang and it was the delivery man from sainsburys, but payment had still not been made, so I asked it it was OK for us to collect it from the store when DP got home. DP finally called me at 4.30, when he had finished in work. Although he had been at lunch when I tried calling, the reception in the cafeteria was chronic, so he did not know I had been calling until he was in the car home. HE thought I he had told me that the card had been cancelled and never thought about it when I told him that I had put in a grocery order for delivery today. I asked him to go to the store to collect it aon his way home and called the store to let them know.

I managed to get some tidying dne in the bedroom, but not as much as I would have like as I was so upset.

Sorry for a such a selfish post.

I hope everyone else is well.

Will not be on too much this week or next as I have to try and get our bedroom and dressing room sorted this week. Also need to make DD's birthday cake for her party on Saturday. My mum is also arriving on Saturday for a week and we are going to Swindon on Sunday for my nephew's christening.

muppetgirl · 23/07/2007 21:54

Sorry to hear about your awful day winnie! And they say us pregnant women are the one with bad memories!

Swindon is my neck of the woods btw...

WinnieThePooh · 23/07/2007 22:15

My Brother & family are in Haydon End. They don't seem to be to badly affected by the floods atm, but they have got problems with their phone. I evetually text SIL on Sunday asking her to call me as neither my parents or I could get through on the land line.

muppetgirl · 23/07/2007 22:31

We're in redhouse and although it hasn't directly affected us it's affected all around us. Dh is going to London tomorrow but if it rains in the night the road to the station will flood and I don't know where he'll park. Then he has to hope there is a train to catch!

The 419 flooded cricklade bound which is why it took me 1hr 40mins to pick up ds from nursery last friday which normally take s 10 mins!!
