I'm just going to go right ahead and fill up all the available posts on this thread unless one of you comes here to talk to me!

j20baby · 14/08/2007 22:54

easywriter, sorry to hijack, just happened to notice your post while skimming active convo's.

not pmsl, honestly!-naughty girls! at the behaviour!

btw, have popped over from oct thread

Easywriter · 14/08/2007 23:00

Seabiscuit - as everyone says, you're fine to wear underwired bras, you just need to be aware that you can get blocked milk ducts. Easily remedied so long as you do something about it straight away (apply warm flannel to sore, lumpy area). I don't think that's very common though, this is my second pregnancy with underwires and I've never had a blocked milk duct until baby had been devlivered

SGK - Well done you! It's a big deal. Although I don't think I could do it I bet it's somehow less painful if only because you know exactly when to expect that 'scratch'.

Can't believe everyones so organised with nurery's. I really need to pull my finger out.

Though we're having decorators in big-styley we bottled the builders as I just thought it was taking too long to get to a start date and as I'd like a HWB if I can, we bailed. So respect to you Revelyell.

Hi Nicola, long hours and anticipated long hours really exhaust you don't they? Any chance of being signed off early by your docotr, that way you won't lose your maternity leave at the other end. Sometimes doctors can be quite willing to help in that way.

I hope one of you is online now...

j20baby · 14/08/2007 23:01

meant to say noone is on my thread neither!

Easywriter · 14/08/2007 23:03

Oh hi J2O, I know.

How do you tell off a 3 year old exactly?

I've found the human child charm offensive to be at it's peak just now 3.5 ish and I am powerless.

Especially with 3 of them and two of us.
Horribly outnumbered.

j20baby · 14/08/2007 23:07

i would have been devestated! all that mess hope they're asleep now? you'll get your own back, when they get their own houses, just go do it to them i plan to to my dc's

sticky fingers all over newly polished tv's and mirrrors, muddy footprints, nail varnish on carpets-ohhhh, think of the fun!

Easywriter · 14/08/2007 23:08

Yeah! I'm sure I could stretch to a few bouts of incontinence when I'm older!

Easywriter · 14/08/2007 23:08

How's your preganacy going? Any more children besides your bump?

j20baby · 14/08/2007 23:19

oo yes, and block the loo with wet wipes after peeing on the seat! its going ok thank you, have had problems with my iron levels all the way through, but hopefully getting sorted now, have dd aged 7 also, wait till you get all the back chat, trust me, it gets worse! are your's twins? is your pg going ok? do you know what flavour your having?

Easywriter · 14/08/2007 23:26

Yes, I've got twin daughters. So far so good with this pregnancy. They act like they're 30 now. Goodness knows why we thought it'd be a cracking idea to be permanently outnumbered by our children!
I'm having a girl, Marnie. Can't wait to meet her.

I saw my friend's newborn today (also called Marnie) she was a bit overdue so not even wrinkly. She was so gorgeous! I want my baby NOW, NOW, NOW!

j20baby · 14/08/2007 23:30

thats a pretty name i haven't decided yet! how many wks you got left? i've got 7. 3 of my friends have had babies in the last few wks, all very cute and so tiny, had forgotten how small they are! well, i'm off to bed now, hope the girls are suitably ashamed in morning

AnnainNZ · 15/08/2007 06:08

Blimey, I think it's only a day since I logged on but you guys have been chatty! Took mne ages to read through it all.

Have an appointment at the hospital tomorrow to see the specialist again and have a growth scan (haven't put it on the scan list though). It was arranged ages ago, jusgt precautionary because of my bp.
Am feeling great at the weekends but gettign so knackered by the end 0f the week. Just constantly on my feet at work pickming up babies, grabbing toddlers who are about to attack another toddler etc. So my fab news of the week is...tomorrow (Thursday) I have off to go to hospital, then back at work Friday and ITS MY LAST DAY! I'm 29 wks and oging on matenity leave and I dont care its so early, my job is just too knackering to work longer than that.

Am so ridiculously excited about it. GOt some flowers and baby clothes as pressies from 2 of the mums today, which was lovely of them. Just cant wait to be at home and sleep during the day if I need to (I havent slept through the night since I was 6 wks pg, so I'm really looking forward to the extra rest!)

First antenatal class tonight too, not that bothered about it really.

Easywriter · 15/08/2007 06:37

Good to be finishing work Anna.

I still remember trying to decide when to make that decision ut you know when you've had enough don't you?

Have you almost finished your nursery? You'll have plenty of time now (after you've recouped some energy with about four weeks of serious loafing!!

AnnainNZ · 15/08/2007 06:42

My dr actually advised me to finish at 28 weeks when I first went to see her when pg, with it being quite a physical job.

At the time I thought, ooh that's very early and even up to a couple of weeks ago I was thinking I could keep going. But I think my dr had it spot on - just getting knackred now! Though fine on the w/ends so I think it's work-related knackeredness, not just pg-related.

Have 3 wks annual leave saved up so taking that before my maternity payments start.

Have lots to do round the house as well as some serious loafing! Want to watch all the DVDs/read all the books I ever meanat to watch/read too, while I still have the chance!

AnnainNZ · 15/08/2007 06:43

And I know knackeredness isn't really a word...but I kind of like it

Easywriter · 15/08/2007 06:45

So wise!
It took me about 2 years before I found that I was able to read enough of a book at each sitting so that I didn't have to back track so far that it wasn't worth bothering.

Easywriter · 15/08/2007 06:46

Knackerdness is fine, it's the incentivised of this world you've gotta look out for!

AnnainNZ · 15/08/2007 06:48

Incentivisation has never really been an issue for me...

Easywriter · 15/08/2007 06:49

Just looked at your scan photo's Anna. Wow! Are all of your photos 3-D one's?
Does NZ have an equivalent of the NHS or is all care done through private hospitals?

I feel a little bit that depending on where you live in the UK, you get the option to have 3-D scans. I only got 2-D and I'm so techo-useless (that other famous word!) that I can't even get those to display on my profile.

AnnainNZ · 15/08/2007 06:55

Most of the scan was 2-D but she would switch over to 3-D and get some photos - about 6 - face, hands and feet, most of them are onb the profile.

We have a public health care system, most things are free but a few htinhs youo pay for about 20 quid for drs visits for example (though all maternity care is free).

The scans are subsidised, i only paid 30 dollars for the 3-D one which is about 10 quid. I was amazed at how cheap it was. I've heard of people in the UK paying over a hundred quid. It was quite detailed and lasted about 40 mins. Had a follow up one a week later (due to dodgy things on LO's heart, all turned out fine) and that was free, with a specialist, as there was a medical reason for it IYSWIM.

Boo, have to go to antenatal class in half an hour I just want to sleeeeeeep and sleeeeeeeeep and then have a bit more sleep.

sarahloumadam · 15/08/2007 07:25

Well being preggers doesn't seem to affect our ability to chat! Easywriter you must have been flabbergasted (can't spell)! The little monkeys! Good story to tell them when they are older tho, perhaps when their first boyfriends come around...

Just a quickie - anyone else going to antenatal classes yet? I haven't heard anything and I thought I would by now. Are they worth going to iyo?

ara · 15/08/2007 08:09

Hi everyone - Sarahlou, I haven't even met our midwife yet which is slightly scary! I also thought there would at least have been chat of antenatal classes but so far, nowt.

RGP and Geek - gavi is my new best friend too, i am getting such nasty heartburn it's bringing tears too my eyes!! Tried to narrow it down to certain foods but it literally seems to be everything, sob!

Good luck to everyone who is getting building work/ nurseries done - we don't get the keys for our new house till mid Sept and then we have sh*tloads to do to it before we can live there so fingers crossed!! I am starting to feel a bit panicky about not being prepared enough as we don't have anywhere to store baby stuff if i buy any!

nicolatabb · 15/08/2007 09:30

Thank you all for your replies. If things get too tough I will think about talking to my doctor.

I'm feeling a bit more positive today. I only woke up twice last night which is a record for recent weeks. In fact more sleep probably directly relates to positivity.

I look forward to receiving the rest of your posts today. N

ara · 15/08/2007 09:48

Hello Nicols, and welcome! I also work willy hours with long commute on top. I am up at 5.30 every morning and not back until after 9 sometimes - it's wearing me out!!
I requested an office day at home per week (as can access my email account and all filing from here) and basically got a n extremely grudging 'unofficial' yes but with stacks of conditions attached - after working out my schedule till ML is due to kick in I will actually only have the opportunity to take one day as home working. On this basis they have refused me training which would otherwise have been an absolutely fantastic opportunity for me (and wouldn't arise again for 10 years!) -when i objected to this they have said, again grudgingly, that I may do it but only if it is not in work time ---???!!!
I cannot wait for ML -it cannot come quickly enough. I am so disappointed in them as I have worked extremely hard for them and have really raised the game there through doing so.
They have really made me feel unsupported and that makes it very hard to manage the long hours and to carry on working with real conviction.

Crumbs, sorry for the rant but for some reason the beast was unleashed!! I am just so fed up of the irony of it all - I am also trying to account for the absence of my main staff member (supposedly a crucial support for me in my job) being off sick yet again - he does this for around half of each year and they provide no cover. When I think of the fact he is on full pay and compare that to the maternity support I will receive it just makes my blood boil! !

ara · 15/08/2007 09:50

pmsl at my spelling!! ha ha -"willy hours"!
And of course I meant 'Nicola'!
