Blimey, you are all so chatty on here that I can't keep up. Just had a quick skim and on the subject of maternity clothes I too have grown out of everything I own and have started on maternity clothes even though the only bump I have is from my general porksomeness.

If it helps all my tops are 'normal' - thank God for the latest fashion for smock-like stuff! As for trousers though have a go at next.co.uk. I'm not a Next kinda girl but their maternity trews are fab, come in all shapes and sizes. Dorothy Perkins is worth a bash too - their maternity trousers have adjustable bands so that you can make 'em bigger as you start to swell. Perfect for fish n chip nights!

Sx

Not really a New Look fan, but went in their yesterday, as I saw all the SALE signs up and bought a fantastic pair of dark grey linen trousers suitable for work and casual wear for.....................................£7! what a bargin!
Love a good bargin!

Naetha · 02/08/2007 15:27

I got my delivery of stuff from Blooming Marvellous - the tops are a bit baggy at the moment, but I'd imagine that will all change soon!

One pair of trousers (jeans) fitted like a dream and the expandable bits look pretty cool (they don't look like maternity trousers) but I also got a pair of cotton twill trousers (a bit like combats without the side pockets) but these were like they were size 22 on me (I'm a size 14-16). I'll send them back and relish in buying size 14 trousers for the first time in 3 years (albeit maternity trousers...!)

beller · 02/08/2007 15:39

Naetha- blooming marvelous botoms do come up a tad big i think..i had to send a size 12 pair of jeans back and get an 8....and thats not normal!!
My only real craving is fish and chips too!

Naetha · 02/08/2007 15:45

Mmmm fish and chips with half a ton of salt on it.....

I'm craving it again and I only ate it 3 hours ago!!

MrsMcJnr · 02/08/2007 16:47

Thanks MotherofZ ? just out of curiosity, does your DC have a name beginning with Z? do you mind me asking how you found out about the Group B Strep in the first place ? MW told me they?d only consider checking if I had ?a really horrible green discharge!? As far as the birth is concerned, I?d like to do it without drugs. I throw up really easily and my Mum was violently sick on gas & air hence my sis managed both labours without. I?m not really allowed an epidural because of my blood clotting issues which is fine because if I can, I?d rather not have one for the puking reasons! Am I being naïve? Hoping for a water birth.

That?s great Naetha hadn?t thought about a slimy baby ? I also want to wear my contact lenses, I can?t bear the thought of not being able to see my LO?s face properly! (glasses may be steamy or wet or both!)

Listen to all of you maternity fashion gurus I am not worthy in my sister?s cast offs and my Littlewoods cheapies!

Cazzybaby · 02/08/2007 16:56

Fish and chips with lots of salt and vinegar reading this thread always makes me hungry!!

MrsMcJnr · 02/08/2007 17:02

why don't I want fish n chips? thought makes me feel very ill

Naetha · 02/08/2007 17:26

Stop it stop it!!!!

I can't have fish and chips twice in one day!!!!

I've noticed my belly has really popped out over the last week or so - I'm hoping this is due to baby growth and not excess of junk food!

Cazzybaby · 02/08/2007 17:28

I just had some salt and vinegar chip sticks it satisfied my craving!

barristermum · 02/08/2007 17:38

Naetha, I've been scratchy with my dh lately - last night I had a real go as he was telling me he's quite stressed with how he'll manage at work when baby comes - he is going to have to be the flexible one of the 2 of us - and I had heard the worry a few too many times and really snapped - ranted about positive thinking, me having enough to worry about etc etc - he was very good and just looked a little wounded. Later we talked about symptoms of pg - my sense of smell has become highly sensitive - and he said "What, along with nausea and irritability?" Glad you have sorted things out with yours. mmm chips and salt.

Housemum · 02/08/2007 19:25

Hi all - here is the link to the Group B Strep website - Group B Strep - do read the "who is at risk" bit as it puts it into perspective - yes, there can be serious complications, but they are rare. It also tells you what are the most efficient tests and how to get them. If your MW refuses to test, apparently it is possible to do it yourself, sending swabs to the lab. Don't know the cost - I think I read in Mother & Baby mag that it was about £30 - £40.

And on a lighter note, here's me showing off again:

DD2 on M&S website!

gingeme · 02/08/2007 21:52

Housemum what a poppet. Makes mr want to rush out and buy a jacket(but I have all boys).

MotherofZ · 03/08/2007 08:22

Morning everyone

Mrs MnJnr - I found out I had Group B Streps when I went for my booking appointment - I told the midwife I was getting a lot of discharge (not green though) and itchiness down under (sorry if this is TMI for some). She took a swab and results came back positive for Group B Streps. Even though the results were positive, was NOT given antibiotics in labour, as I was not considered high risk (i.e high risks are - high temperature in labour, labour starting before 36 weeks, more than 48 hours bewteen waters breaking and giving birth). However after birth I asked the m/w if DD was going to be tested for Group B Streps and she said only if baby was to develop certain symptons. Wasn't happy about that, and did try and protest (in my exhusted state), but no-one paid attention

Oh by the way - you are right - DD name does begin with Z. Don't think you will be able to guess though....!!!

Housemum - DD is sooo sweet!

Barristermum - it seems like part of your DH attitude steams from his fear of how life will be like when the baby arrives. Enjoy this time you have together - you will never get it back! (although that comment about your nausea was a bit off).

MrsMcJnr · 03/08/2007 10:28

Barristermum hello! Glad you sorted out the row with DH, I?m the same, we had an absolute screamer the other day but all is fine now.

Housemum ? thanks for the Group B Strep link. Wonder if you did your own test and were positive if your carers would accept that though! Your DD is gorgeous you must be so proud!

Maybe not all boys Gingeme

MotherofZ ? Zaviar? Our boy?s name of choice is Xavier! Thanks for sharing the Strep info

For all those cat lovers ? I am having an issue and wondered if anyone can shed any light. One of my 3, and I think I know which 1, is pooing in our dining room! Luckily we have wooden floors but not the point really! It started 2 weeks ago and has happened on 4 separate occasions. It seems to happen at night. The first time, we were away over night and as the older cat gets fed separately in the dining room with the door closed, I assumed that the neighbour had left her in there and she got desperate. Then, on two more occasions, I blasted DH as said he clearly wasn?t cleaning out the litter often enough and it was a dirty protest but as it has happened again today with new litter, I am now at a loss. We have disinfected the trouble spot thoroughly each time so I don?t know what else we can do, any ideas? I am wondering if another cat has been in the garden and mine is protesting to that or whether it?s the baby she senses? Might get one of those plug in calmers. Should have said, my cats are house cats so don?t go out.

Angechica · 03/08/2007 10:41

My old flatmate's cat kept doing protest poos when I moved in with her a few years a go...

Blue Cross website says to wash with solution of biological washing liquid or powder then spray area with surgical spirit and break the habit further by placing an object on the trouble spot

"Occasionally cats defecate indoors as a marking behaviour when owners go on holiday and leave a stranger to care for them".

mixedmama · 03/08/2007 10:56

Morning everyone,

Just ben catching up with yesterdays action.

Our car got broken into and therefore had no way of getting DS to childcare which is a 45 min drive away at the moment... so had to take the day off. So angry. Ahhh.

I think I have seen a reference to MotherofZ's DC name on another thread, but will be fun guessing so I wont go off and track it down... I think DC is a DD... but could be wrong.

I have a friend who called his DS Xavier... lovely name.

MotherofZ · 03/08/2007 11:31

Isn't Zaviar a boys name?? I've got a DD!
(Porsche to anyone who canget it right - lol!)

(excludes mixedmama by the way!)

mixedmama · 03/08/2007 11:52

ooo damn...

MotherofZ · 03/08/2007 12:01

hahaha

you can tell i've got the Friday feeling and can't wait to go home...!!

mixedmama · 03/08/2007 12:06

Okay MotherofZ - couldnt resist going and havinga quick look and your DD has the same name as me albeit I have a Turkish corruption of the name.

MrsMcJnr · 03/08/2007 12:11

Thanks Angechica will try the object. We?ve been cleaning the area with lemon bleach, cats are meant to hate citrus smells!

Thanks Mixedmama ? sorry to hear about your car exciting thoughts that DC is a pink one! I get excited thinking about it being either one

Sorry MotherofZ didn?t realise you had a DD .. hmm- let?s see? Zahara, Zaina, Zanna, Zefira, Zenia, Zetta, Zilpha, Zitomira, Zoe, Zora, Zulema, Zahavah, Zakiya, Zara, Zelda, Zenaide, Zhane, Zinaida, Ziv, Zohara, Zova, Zuni, Zahira, Zalika, Zarina, Zarya, Zelia, Zephyr, Zigana, Zippora, ZiZi, Zola, Zsofia, Zaida, Zaneta, Zea, Zelma, Zerlinda, Zilla, Zita, Zlata, Zona, Zuleika, Zulema, Zuni or Zureidy??? I promise, I didn?t make any of those up!

MotherofZ · 03/08/2007 12:15

Zelinda - that's very unusual...!

Mrs McJnr - Did you actually know those names or was it a copy and paste off the internet??

Yes you get the Porsche - you got it right!!

Mixedmama - sorry about your car. People who do things like that need to be locked up and taught a good lesson in respecting other people's property!

mixedmama · 03/08/2007 12:31

MrsMcjnr - i dont know what i am having was just saying that MotherofZ has a DD.

Congrats on winning the competition.

MotherofZ - i could think of a whole lot more to do the git. the worse thing was that DH was convinced it was some kids hanging around the other night and he had a few exchanged glares with them. He was gonna kick their a**es when he saw them next, thank god for CCTV otherwise he would have got the wrong people.

MrsMcJnr · 03/08/2007 12:31

it was a cut and paste
