Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
spud01 · 25/07/2007 10:08

Hi everyone

welcome Fluffymummy

Cazzybaby - Its no longer a problem to be Rhesus negative as long as you have the injections. Before the injections it was a problem which got worse with each pg, causing anaemia. My mum was rhesus negative and her 1st two children were unaffected, but because their blood group was different to hers she built up anti bodies to kill off foriegn blood. So by the time she had me i was born with severe anaemia and needed a blood tranfusion when i was a couple of hours old, my mum said i was that anaemic she could see through my hand. Like i say though its not an issue anymore as long as women who are negative have the injection to stop them building up them anti-bodies.

The strange thing about it is mum could be positive, dad could be negative and no anti bodies would be built up. Its only if mum is negative and dad is poitive

Hope everyone is well

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has put on weight this early. I'm 17 weeks and I've gained 8 pounds already. I thought this was mainly fat due to the fact that I'm eating loads more than usual. I will gladly accept that it is just water retention.

I also have low blood pressure which makes me feel so tired all the time. The midwife said I will probably start to feel better at about 20 weeks.

I know what you mean about the palpitations. In the evening after my evening meal it feels like my heart has moved into my stomach and is pumping like mad.

spud01 · 25/07/2007 10:57

hi again

finally saw a midwife who has changed my edd to 2nd feb, but i totally disagree so i wont be changing it on list. I personally think she made a mistake because every website and every book ive looked in has my date as 30th Jan. I was also very disappointed that she didnt try to listen for lo heartbeat, is this quite normal nowadays for them not to listen for heartbeat on booking in appointment. Anyway i dont see her now to the end of sep early oct, seems such along time away, cant believe how much things have changed.

LouiseSJ · 25/07/2007 10:59

I didn't get to hear the heartbeat at my 12 week scan, but I did see the little heart pumping on the monitor.

beller · 25/07/2007 11:31

HI All...trying to catch up...
Just back from Lake Garda which was fab, until I had a bleed last night...this was one of those times when i wish I wasnt on my own! I have a docs apt now to see if everything is ok...will be back on after... xx

spud01 · 25/07/2007 11:40

thinking about you beller, hope everything is ok x

fluffymummy · 25/07/2007 11:51

Thanks...its nice to have somewhere to hang out with other bumps for a bit, especially since I'm keeping quiet about this at work at the moment and (AFAIK) none of my last-time-around friends are going to be pregnant at the same time as me for this one! Nice to meet you all

fluffymummy · 25/07/2007 11:54

btw, Spud01, I didn't get to hear the heartbeat at my booking in or the 12 week scan, even though I'm sure they did it last time around. I guess it depends on each hospital's procedures...but it is disappointing as I love hearing that 'bompety-bomp'!

Naetha · 25/07/2007 13:11

Best of luck with the doc Beller - thinking of you

Been a bit naughty this lunchtime and had fish and chips (which I can eat again now - yay!!) and couldn't help but absolutely cover my chips in salt - I mean LOADS of salt. I must have used my RDA of salt (6g is it?) on about 1/3 of my chips - I just couldn't get enough of the stuff! I'm not too worried about overdoing it on the salt as I really don't have very much normally, and my BP is very low - maybe this is my body's way of upping it a bit? The bizarre thing is, now the thought of eating anything salty makes me feel sick, yet it tasted so good less than half an hour ago!

As for heartbeats, I only got mine recorded at my 16 week visit - I guess if you ask and they're not too busy then they should oblige I think they're often reluctant to do it as apparently hearbeats can be difficult to find before 13-14 weeks so they'd rather the patient didn't have the heartbeat measured than tried and failed to find a heartbeat.

beller · 25/07/2007 13:39

well just back...got to hear the heart beat that was strong...she also said the baby was moving around...why cant i feel it then! ....she mentioned placenta praevia (sp?) but there was no mention on my notes about the positioning of the placenta, so has made a note to check it at next appt, which is 5 weeks! She said if i bleed again to go straight back. She has signed me off for the next 2 days...which after coming back from holiday yest id going to go down really well at work...so now im worriied about that!!! Got to think of babybel though...Right will try and catch up on all the news.....I saw there were a few newbies while i was flicking through this morning, so welcome to the mad house xx

MotherofZ · 25/07/2007 13:57

beller - take it easy for the next few days - your body needs to recover from the trip so put your feet up and relax. No housework - just lots ot tv, chocs and sleep!

Naetha - why did you mention fish 'n' chips, fancy some now aswell.....although a twix bar will do for the time being.

MotherofZ · 25/07/2007 13:58

Cazzybaby · 25/07/2007 14:16

Hi Everyone

Hope all is well today! Thanks for advise on the blood type.

Beller I had scan today because of a bleed 2 days ago and they said my placenta was very low - probably causing bleed but nothing to worry about too much as it should move up. Is that what placenta pervia is??

Saw my little bean today and got a great photo of him rubbing his eyes was soooo sweet!

MrsMcJnr · 25/07/2007 14:42

Hello Goingfor3 ? sorry to hear about all the bleeding and the drug allergy I hope you are feeling much better now and are not in pain. Exciting to have felt movement you take care now!

Hello MotherpofZ

Hey Cazzybaby ? I am positive myself. I take it that your DH has a positive blood group if they gave you that jab? As I understand it, mothers with ?ive blood groups who have babies with fathers with +ive blood groups can have issues because of cross over of bloods at birth. I always thought that it only happened with a 2nd baby though as until that moment, you wouldn?t develop any antibodies against +ive blood groups. One of my friends has just had this issue with her 2nd baby as her antibodies were trying to attack him because he had a +ive blood group. She had him a bit early but he is fine Hope someone comes along with 1st hand info for you soon Sorry to hear about the bleed, that must have been scary. Glad the scan went well do you know you are having a boy or is that a guess?

Hello Bettymamma how scary it must have been when you first saw those blood results! Can?t believe your boss said that to you! we were at the races last night with clients and by 8pm my bump was very noticeable and my boss was giving my daggers each time he heard someone congratulate me! sounds like good advice from HR, don?t mean to offend anyone, but gems from HR are rare in my experience!

Thanks funkybumps might consider one of those.

Naetha ? how are you feeling now? Hope you are much better. Sorry about the wind, can?t help. Been windy but not excessively so, or painfully so. Hope someone can help soon Can?t help on the palpitations either, useless, sorry!

Welcome Fluffymummy not sure who makes the rules but you are welcome to stay here with us congratulations too!

Hello Lilyloo glad you had a good time and that you heard the heartbeat. I usually have low blood pressure (it?s a bit high for me at the mo) it does mean you get dizzy easier and can faint but as long as it?s not too low (and they would have said) it?s not something to worry about. V of your flutters!

Toomanyshoes ? hope the tiredness subsides soon

Horsygirl lovely about your scan! Sorry to hear that you are feeling horrible about your weight, I can empathise as I?ve always had a battle to stay at the weight I like to be (and I wasn?t when I started this pg ) that said, now that I have stopped trying to squeeze myself into my normal clothes and have bought some well fitting, flattering maternity clothes, I feel much better, even sexy in some of them as for feeling healthy, I do feel that, I?m eating and drinking lots of good stuff and now that I am feeling less tired, I?m going to start my Devina DVD (tonight in fact) hope you feel better soon, be kind to yourself, you are pregnant, not fat! Also, your body will store fat for breast feeding so don?t blame that retention on yourself, it?s just all part of the process!

Hello LouiseSJ Hello Spud01 ? they just laughed at me outright when I asked if they were going to listen for the heart at my last appointment

Beller ? thinking of you hon and so glad that all is ok with you and little bean x I have heard about placentas in that position causing bleeding. I know it?s hard but try not to worry about work, LO is far more important x Glad you had a great holiday

Can we talk free stuff? Has anyone received anything interesting? I?m wading through all the stuff I was given at my booking in and so far I have sent for and received a soft toy cow from cow and gate. I?ve also booked into the free ante natal physio classes at my local hospital and booked DH into a Dads2be 4 week course am I missing any good offers?

LilyLoo · 25/07/2007 15:33

afternoon everyone.
Mrs mcJ i am in awe of your posts how can you remember all that?
Not had any free stuff tbh , although always up for a bargain so let us know girls.
I actually dug some old baby stuff out and found my bounty bag from having dd which is full of free stuff i must have frogotten about. Other than that sorry can't help!
Glad the bleeds nothing to worry about girls.
Naetha i read today the rain is going to continue for the rest of July and into August so not much chance of sun by the looks of it. A cheap holiday website though if anyone fancy some last minute sun www.otbeach.com/cheap-holidays/turkey/cheap/cheap-holidays-turkey-00570.htmlNot all of them are too Turkey.
Hope everyone else feeling ok .

beller · 25/07/2007 15:39

Thanks for the update Mrsmcjnr!! Think im nearly up to date now...xx

Thanks for the best wishes...was a scare, but feel better now x

MotherofZ · 25/07/2007 15:45

Mrs McJunr - Hello to you too
Really nice of you to remember everyone like that!

Talking about free stuff - recommend joining up with the parenting club at Boots - get load of vouchers, got some free pregnancy pampering stuff last time and a handy Huggies nappy bag.

Also sign up on the Pamper's website as you get loads of money off vouchers (every little helps!) for nappies and useful emails every month packed with advice, tips etc about pregnancy and bean.

weblette · 25/07/2007 16:34

Afternoon all, room for another? I'm due with #4 on January 13th. Alredy have dd - 7, ds1 - 5 and ds2 - 3. Let's just say this one was a little unexpected!

My pregnancies tend to be extremely boring but with very quick ends - I pop 'em like peas basically and this one will hopefully be like the last - at home

MrsMcJnr · 25/07/2007 16:38

Thanks ladies I've signed up for hippbabyclub.co.uk and mothercare but will look at pampers. For some reason they didn't like my email address on Bounty .

Also, just got a good deal on my Pregnacare Plus vits on vitabiotics.com, it was buy 2 get 1 free plus something free (not quite sure what?!) 100 points and free postage plus £1 off. Normally I buy mine from Boots and whilst the price is the same (and the 3 for 2 offer is often on and you get points) they are out of stock at the mo locally.

I've found my local Lloyds and have asked Dh to pick up my Emma's Diary pack tomorrow

jellyjem · 25/07/2007 17:02

Hi everyone, can I join in? I've been very nervous about something going wrong so although I've been lurking for a while this is the first time I've felt I could officially join you. This'll be my first baby, I'm 17 weeks today and my EDD is 3rd January.

Look forward to getting to know you all.

Jem xx

sabinar · 25/07/2007 17:07

hi gals. just wanted to pop in and see how everyone is doing. I'm 16wks exactly today and got my little email from babycentre saying that bub is now the size of an avocado and is about to go on a bit of a growth spurt - so exciting! It's starting to feel a little bit real now - everything has seemed so microscopic up until now!

I'm still not really showing at all... think bub has pushed my pot belly (which is always there) out a little, but I just look a little chub. Still wearing all the same clothes as before without any problem at all... no wonder it feels unreal. I'm quite looking forward to the little one becoming a bit more evident.

I still haven't told hardly anyone except family and a very few close friends. I know this is a bit weird, but I really don't feel need to share it with other people just yet... will be kind of glad to have that decision taken out of my hands soon.

Glad to hear that you're all pootling along pretty well. Take care!

Sx
