Caroline- took your title to follow on the horsey theme!!

No idea what I'm having. Wanted to find out but DH didn't and as it meant we'd have had to pay for a private scan we didn't bother.
What about you?

I'm still here. No signs. Twinges and niggles but I'm used to them meaning nothing now. Good luck with the inductions everyone. Hope you all see your babies soon. Looks like it is just me and firststar left. She has been very quite recently tho. Maybe she has already had her baby and can't get on the computer.

Miaou · 04/08/2007 09:21

Just popping back on here to say good luck to all those who are still waiting for their little ones to arrive - hope it all goes well and that we will see on you on the postnatal thread very soon

keiralou · 04/08/2007 09:51

Hi All,
Just to let you know that Grace Lola joined us at 3.08pm on Tuesday 31st! She weighed 9lb6oz and is absolutely gorgeous!!!

Quick birth story - went in to be induced at 8am on Monday. Had a pessary, which began taking effect at 3pm ish. Though - wey hey, this is it!! Had another internal - cervix still very high. After much deliberating, it was decided to leave it and re-start me first thing Tuesday morning.

So - 6.50am another pessary inserted (cervix still very high) Started taking effect 9amish. Contractions got stronger and quicker, so that by midday I told the midwife they were coming fast and I put my TENS machine on. I was monitored and then at 1pm was given another internal and was told I was 5-6cm (thay had said they would transfer me to delivery suite when 3cm). So off we went. The mw who took me said she thought baby would be here within 2-3hrs (this is my 2nd so it would be quicker)

The mw who was to deliver made it v clear she would do everything to make it a positive experience for me as my last labour and delivery had been so awful. She also had 2 big babies and said I would be fine....

Another mw and a student took over at 2.30, and they moved me onto my all fours. My waters still hadn't broken, so back was hurting. Anyway, they soon broke and the pushing began. Soon after, she was born on to the bed and I was told to sit back and pick her up myself. Dh cut the cord whilst I held her. It was all so relaxed and just such a lovely experience (though I still think childbirth is an 'unnatural' thing to out your body through) Had a tear in the same place as last time. Managed to do the whole thing using just my TENS (on first setting, cos dh couldn't work out how to change settings!) and gas / air, which is fab!

We stayed in the delivery room for a few hours after, spending time with our beautiful new daughter and showering and eating!! Felt ready to be dischraged soon after, but stayed in overnight.

Since then, all memories of painful breasts, sleepless nights and a whirlwind of emotions have all come flooding back. But, am feeling loads better today, due to the fact she slept so well last night and reamins asleep now!

Just want to wish everyone else a happy, positive birthing experience and a good luck to husky and lynne for tomoorow's induction. My advice for antone left is to stay as mobile as you can during early labour.
And make it clear at every stage of what you want to do and how (if poss)

Good luck all, and be in touch soon! xxx

lynnec · 04/08/2007 12:41

Coming to realise I'm probably talking to myself here. (Oh well - when I start to argue with myself I'll worry)

Still no sign of baby. Went into labour at this stage with DD but don't think It'll happen with this one. Maybe it is wind after all.

JennsterBubsLayer · 06/08/2007 10:37

Morning typhoon. Hope you aren't too uncomfortable. WHAT'S THE WEATHER oops like your way? Am baby wrangling today, my first solo day with both of them argh!

typhoonsmum · 06/08/2007 10:41

Hello Jennster. How is the bundle of joy! Has DP gone back to work now. I'm sure you'll be fine on your own. Just take it slow and ask for help if you can. Do you have an older child. Can they help you out much!
I'm not really uncomfortable just fed up. Weather is nice. Was hot yesterday but had a rain shower last night so fortunatley it has cooled down. The only good thing about being late is MIL is taking DD off me most afternoons so I can get peace and quiet. Will really miss that.

JennsterBubsLayer · 06/08/2007 10:51

dd only 18 months so has been poking, prodding, BITING (or trying) pulling off socks and demanding far more attention than usual. Definitely NOT a help. Same weather as here in Preston.

DS is lovely, and thankfully more awake today. DH back at work although always only 10 mins away if I'm having a crisis and very flexible about work. My friend is round in 10 mins and am checking out mothers and toddlers this afternoon....

typhoonsmum · 06/08/2007 11:04

I'm sure you'll be fine. Mum's and Tot's will give you a bit of a break. DD is 4 and a half and I'm hoping she can help me a bit when he finally makes an appearance but with the mood she is in at the moment I wouldn't bank on it.
DP is a foreman on a building site and is in charge all this week. I'll probably go into labour sometime this week and he'll have to phone Head Office to get cover before he can leave the site. He is working in Wythenshawe in Manchester and we live in The Wirral near Liverpool. It'll take about an hour for him to travel home after the cover has arrived. Lets not home it is one of those mega quick deliveries you read about in the paper.

Only still putting this board in to see myself move slowly up. Hey I need something to amuse me at the moment.
Have a sweep with Midwives later. Been having period pains for the past few days but it doesn't turn into anything. Hopefully the sweep will do something. If not I'll get a date for an induction today. I hope it isn't next Monday. Been doing research on the tinternet to find proof that the scan dates are more accurate than the Period date and on that piece of evidence I'll be over 42 weeks next Monday which I should be induced BEFORE. Will probably annoy the midwives to hell and loose my staff priveledge of a side room but it is a risk I'll take.

LieselVentouse · 07/08/2007 09:43

holy shit Firststar - congratulations

Caroline1852 · 07/08/2007 11:01

Firststar - wow what a whopper - congratulations!

MelissaM · 07/08/2007 13:25

Wow firstar and congrats! What a whopper - probably a good thing you had c-section at that weight! Hope all is ok with DS.

MelissaM · 07/08/2007 13:26

Typhoonsmum - hope the sweep this afternoon does something for you and gets things moving.

Good luck to everyone else and see you on the pn thread soon.

typhoonsmum · 07/08/2007 14:54

Sweep Results

Am 2cm dilated with a bishops score of 4!(stubborn child)
Cervix still thick( ????)
Induction booked for Thursday at 8.30am.

I'm a little pleased. At least it isn't Monday. I'll be 40+11 instead of 40+15. It's stupid it was the same midwife as last week who said it would be on Monday and this week she said she wasn't happy to leave me till Monday. She said I may go before then actually but they have been saying that for weeks.
