Caroline- took your title to follow on the horsey theme!!

No idea what I'm having. Wanted to find out but DH didn't and as it meant we'd have had to pay for a private scan we didn't bother.
What about you?

Typhoonsmum - You sound like me! Im starting to get worried that things are going to go wrong! Bit late now isnt it!?

typhoonsmum · 20/07/2007 10:58

So it wouldn't cause an infection risk then. That is my main concern if it happened. They normally want you in after 24 hours don't they. If you haven't realised they've broken then how do you go in

typhoonsmum · 20/07/2007 10:58

Told you I'm not happy if I'm not worrying over something!

Dumbledorf · 20/07/2007 11:00

Fab news, Kyte and well done dewmeadow!!

Anyone else on the way?

Had my sweep yesterday lunchtime, but my baby is still resisting the temptations of the big wide world!

Had 2 disappointments yesterday, which I feel really pathetic about - but.. firstly, my mw who I really like and trust isn't on call anymore- has been all week, so won't be with me at my hb. Really gutted cos I feel like I've got a good r'ship with her and she's had a hb and just GOT what I wanted etc. Also, there are too many women waiting and not enough mws on this weekend, so basically only one of the 6 of us waiting can have a hb this w/e, the rest will have to go to hospital. Feel pathetic at how gutted I feel, I know the most important thing is to have the baby safely and I should just be grateful, but it just wasn't what i was expecting. AND i'm still pregnant!! Yep, I would have this baby out of my left nostril too.
Trying to stay positive, I know this is all entirlely normal, but I'm soooo ready now. Also most annoyed at the people who say "Oh make the most of these last days" Like how?? Have you seen the size of me? what could i do to "make the most"?? Grrrr.

So, as you can see, i need to get my head into a better place, no wonder this baby doesn't want to meet me! Just feel tearful and tired and fed up. Anyone fancy coming to the pub for some beers??

Myfairone · 20/07/2007 11:02

Yes, I hear what you are saying...thinking about it though, if she was in early labour and the water was only trickling the baby still had plenty around it because it replenishes itself every 3 hours (think Im correct with that)...plus, with this lady her labour started within the 24 hours.

I guess its a question for the midwife but I see what your concerned about.

For me, I'm kind of hoping that they break in a huge gush (actually don't really care where I will be at the time now!) so that I get 'my sign' that labour has started!

All this waiting is doing my head in!

typhoonsmum · 20/07/2007 11:03

I'll meet you at the bar dumble. Very strong brandy and coke for me. What's everyone else having!

Myfairone · 20/07/2007 11:06

Dumbledorf - YES TO BEERS!!!! I am so sorry to hear of your dissapointment. I can understand how you feel. Yes of course its important that baby is born safely but when you have it in your mind that you are having a HB and then someone tells you that it may not happen, of course you're going to feel dissapointed!

I guess the old saying 'just wait and see' springs to mind. You never the circumstances and you may still get your hb.

Why do people say enjoy the last days? That makes no sense to me. Im too fat to bend, too uncomfortable to sit...so presently just bouncing around on my ball which actually makes me feel quite dizzy!

typhoonsmum · 20/07/2007 11:06

So I'm not just going slowly mad then. It is a geniune problem! With DD I had to have them broken and it wasn't a big gush that i was expecting just a trickle if I moved on the bed so just convinced myself I don't have much fluid.

Dumbledorf · 20/07/2007 11:08

Thanks! Yep, hopefully (aaarghhh) the baby won't come this weekend and I'll still get my hb.

Seriously, glad I have somewhere just to come and vent a bit!!

Off to attempt to pull myself together, thanks everyone xx

Myfairone · 20/07/2007 11:11

No your not going mad...Although they do say that every pregnancy is different, so you never know.

If I get a bottle of Champagne anyone want to help me with it?

Now im laughing at the thought of just getting completely hammered and not really caring whether we were in labour or not! (Oh my, how irresponsible was that thought, and me about to be a Mum too!)

Oh how awful....do you think they would serve a bunch of pregnant women demanding drinks?

By the way...I havent had a drink since finding out I was pregnant....so before you jump to any conclusions...I am not an alcoholic!

tiggsy · 20/07/2007 11:24

you know if some poor person is spying on this thread, say in v early pregnancy, they're probably running for the hills now!! must think we're all a bunch of alchoholic raving lunatics
i'm up for the booze now too!
i've been wondering what happens to your show and waters when you have a cs? do they get 'removed'??
naughty postman delivered three baby catalogues this morning so i'm sat here wanting to buy loads cos need the retail therapy but don't know what lo is! grr...
my friends waters didn't break until the baby came out! v messy apparently

tiggsy · 20/07/2007 11:25

think i might repack my suitcase for the 63rd time...

typhoonsmum · 20/07/2007 11:47

If you have a CS the waters will be broke when then open you up surely.

Just got a letter of MW saying that my iron is low now. 11.4. It has been 11.4 since 28 weeks so why it is bothering them now I don't know. With my iron and platelet levels low I may as well have the lot drained and start again. I hopw I don't bleed a lot during delivery or it will be another transfusion for me! (Iron level got down to 7.1 last year)

Cyee · 20/07/2007 12:13

Congrats Dewmeadow... and how exciting Kyte!!! Good luck!

Tiggsy - I think they break your waters when they open you up... but that could just have been something I saw on ER! I remember water gushing everywhere before they take the baby out.

On the booze front... I brought a mini bottle of champers to the hosp. However the G&A was nectar for me - didn't have the champagne until I came home!

Take care all - and congrats/good luck to anyone I've missed.

Myfairone · 20/07/2007 12:41

Quick rant please?

Just had 'the mother of all thunder storms' here and I am standing ironing, blissfully unaware that my bedroom windows were open!

My carpet is flooded, my curtains are dripping and my quilt is soaked!

I called Dh to cry and he asked why I was out of breath!!!

Looks like I'm in the perfect birthing position (all fours) to try and clean this mess up!

Can we please crack the champers quick!!!!!!!

JennsterSlugSlayer · 20/07/2007 13:08

How debauched are we? A large glass of red with a Gaviscon Advance chaser for me please, and Hookah pipe of Gas and Air, while I lie semi recumbant (lying on left of course) on chaise longue with a house coat on.

Myfairone oh no! Hope the day gets better for you and a big hug too.

Kyte good luck, you are making me jealous now. Was convinced things were going to kick off yesterday, but no. Dh wants baby today or tomorrow preferably! Didn't you get a load of maternity pads in your homebirth pack? 50% of the space in mine is maternity mats and pads!

Dumbledorf, same thing happened to me with dd. The 2 weekends before DD was born, I was rung to say that if I went into labour between friday and sunday night I would have to go to hospital as there weren't enough mws to cover any homebirths. I really hope everything works out for you.

cupcakesgalore · 20/07/2007 13:31

Just to let yu all know that Florence Eliza was born on Fri 13th(!) at 4am - in the water - weighs 8lb10 and is absoutely gorgeous!

typhoonsmum · 20/07/2007 14:02

Congrats cupcakes. We need an updated stats list. I'm getting confused again.

bilblio · 20/07/2007 14:11

Just to let you know, Bilblio gave birth to a beautiful baby girl today at midday, weighing in at seven pounds and one ounce. Mother and baby are doing well and should be home tommorow.

Mr. Bilblio.

Myfairone · 20/07/2007 14:23

Oh Mr Bilblio, congratulations! Thank you so much for letting us know. So pleased to hear that both mother and baby are well....excellent news!

Cupcakes - Huge congrats to you too! Hope that you are both well.

My day has got better thankfully! How can it not hearing about all these wonderful babies being born!

I remembered I had bought some cloth from the ideal home exhibition claiming to suck up huge amounts of water! Well, pleased to announce the claim worked. Have been really getting somewhere with the carpet! Have done 2 loads of washing and now have taken down all my net curtains and have those in the machine...Maybe the open windows weren't such a bad thing after all!

Hope all are well and lets hope Kyte is doing okay...

oooh how exciting!! Good luck Kyte and MrKyte

Biblio, congratulations, thanks for letting us know Mr Biblio!

Myfairone · 20/07/2007 15:15

Mr Kyte - I must congratulate your wife on her selflessness at wanting to share this information with us at a time when I am sure she has tons on her mind....and also to congratulate you on doing exactly as she asks!!!
We appreciate it!

Please send her huge hugs and lots of 'go girl'! from Myfairone! Cannot wait to hear her birth story afterwards....

Dumbledorf · 20/07/2007 18:35

Yay Bilblio! Fab news.

Hope your house is a bit dryer, Myfairone.

well, I resisted going to the pub for the day (ho ho ho to the thought of us all there though!)and went and retail therapyed like a crazy pregnant woman at the matalan sale and feel much better, so maybe it was just shopping withdrawl symptoms after all. May have glass of wine tonight though!!

Have decide that will go for acupuncture next week to try and move things along before potential induction next week - anyone got any experience of it??

I got LOAD of pads and stuff in my hb pack too- alarming amounts, in fact. Maybe they're just more concerned about your carpets??? (trying not to think about reality of situation, clearly!!)
