June 2019 - Part 7!

Hi ladies! Picking names, packing hospital bags - third trimester here we come! Smile

I thought I'd start out with the stats this time and I'll post the updated name list in a bit. I've just included the data that I have, since a lot of people are missing bits (or quite possibly I've missed their posts). We come from all over, so I'll put that bit in another post later as well.

Our average age at estimated due date is 33! That should help some of us who are feeling older.

And that's not just because we're all second-timers! In fact, most of us are having our first baby this year.

Baby #1 - 31
Baby #2 - 26
Baby #3 - 9
Baby #4 - 1
Babies 1&2 together! - 1

Fifteen of us are expecting lovely little boys, nineteen of us are expecting darling little girls, and at least sixteen of us are waiting to be surprised!

The average due date is June 13th, and the most popular due date is June 24th. We don't have anyone expecting on the 15th, 23rd, 27th, or 30th as far as I can tell.

And if you happen to have a baby on my birthday (June 16th), your baby will be born on Father's Day this year!

I didn’t mind going for another glucose test, but I only slept a few hours last night. Now I’m dreading it. I was so tired after the last one and that was with a full night of sleep! 😴

@mrshadders did you get a scan in the end for the movements? I had to go into hospital Tues night with reduced movements and abdominal pains. Was expected to be told it was trapped wind or something and then ended up having to have some examinations etc to check I wasn't in preterm labour! We think everything is fine now, but have been told to come in for a scan this morning to double check. Hopefully baby has just moved into an awkward position.

Curlywurly3 · 29/03/2019 07:39

I was awake from 1.30 until 5.30 last night. I feel terrible, I can’t open my eyes properly! Something really odd happened yesterday, the baby must have flipped over as I had the weirdest and biggest sensation of movement and my whole belly moved. Now I’m getting much stronger movements for longer periods of time which is nice but my lower back is aching and my tummy is hurting because I can’t go to the toilet. Jeez I’m a mess! 🙈

mrshadders · 29/03/2019 07:52

@KoalasAteMyHomework yes we had the scan yesterday! Sonographer was amazing - baby is measuring perfectly and moving as expected. She said no reason I shouldn't be feeling anything everything is as it should be. Of course since the scan I've felt the movements again quite strongly!! What time is your scan? It's so nice to see the baby. I'm 27+4 by the way Smile

fee1234 · 29/03/2019 08:29

@Kescilly hope the test goes okay!

I joined the colostrum club this morning.. my nipples were tender and a bit wet when I woke up, and when I squeezed them out of curiosity some came out!

KoalasAteMyHomework · 29/03/2019 08:31

Glad to hear all is well mrshadders
My scan is at 9.45. Been a tense few days! Made it all seem a bit real too, so has kicked me up the backside a bit about getting the clothes etc down from the loft to wash through.

Kescilly · 29/03/2019 09:00

Good luck with the scan @KoalasAteMyHomework!

Thanks @fee1234! The nurse made a comment about how I was a pro at the whole process. I ought to be by now! I’m already planning on my traditional mushroom ravioli for after the test. Every time I wonder if it’s my last bit of pasta for a while, but if I were diagnosed now I’d only be on the diet/meds for about two months. Not so bad, right?

Welcome to the colostrum club!

So interesting to hear everyone’s weird baby moving stories! Good luck to everyone with tests and scans etc.

I am moving house today. It is stressful. But I’m just letting everyone else get on with it at the moment and sitting in my manly yard for the last time, looking forward to having a beautiful garden to sit in very soon!

hexagon01 · 29/03/2019 10:08

Manky* yard, not manly, no traditional gender roles here 😉

mrshadders · 29/03/2019 10:17

Make sure you take it easy @hexagon01 ! Although people keep telling me that and I think 'I can still function like a normal human Hmm' - not sure how much longer for mine. How far along is everyone?

imtakingabath · 29/03/2019 10:53

@Mrshadders I feel the same and I'm at 31+2! I would imagine the last month or so is the hardest part.

Is anyone else getting excited about all the things we'll be able to enjoy again once we've given birth? I can't wait to enjoy filter coffee and white wine again! (I know you're allowed some coffee anyway, but the stuff I drink is particularly fresh and light-roasted which means the caffeine content is pretty high, so I've been being cautious and avoiding it just in case).

toomanyflatwhites · 29/03/2019 11:21

Oh @imtakingabath no coffee abstaining here, I can't live without it!! (apart from in first trimester when I couldn't stomach it) But I have had a few moments of really wanting a nice cold beer it a glass of wine (and definitely champagne when DP had a nice bottle with his parents last week) but also can't can't can't wait to eat Brie again!

Had my 29 week midwife appointment this morning and all good, same lady I saw last time and I wasn't too impressed with but she was really friendly and chatty today. Got to hear the baby's heartbeat and we heard hiccups! Though I couldn't exactly tell what was happening but that's what she said ;) also a pain-free blood test (which is always nice) and tummy is measuring spot on, plus she was very nice and sensible about the recommendation from the consultant that I get induced between 39&40 weeks - she said it's a GUIDELINE not a prescriptive rule as he made it out to be in total arsehole style and that he is unfortunately known for coming from the old school - ie tells people what is happening rather than discussing options etc. Feeling much better about it all now!

Changingagain · 29/03/2019 11:56

imtakingabath I don't drink coffee or alcohol anyway but gd means I'm looking forward to being able to have most of my normal food again! give me a doughnut
3 weeks in work, a week off, 4 weeks in work and then ml! Looking at my calendar has made me feel very unprepared Confused looking forward to a doughnut though

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 29/03/2019 11:57

Good luck @hexagon01

Just take it easy, glide like a swan, let others run around you, you are busy growing a human FGS!

It’s interesting to read what folk are saying about “still functioning like a normal human”, I get this so much but this pregnancy has taught me again and again that no matter how much I try and make out otherwise I am not invincible and that a commute, two other children, a shit mental busy job is enough to knacker most folk out.

We are still on course for moving 1 May as we are expected to complete next week so I’ll be doing same as you at 35 weeks @hexagon01 eek!

imtakingabath · 29/03/2019 12:17

@PaulHollywoodsSexGut I'm probably just complacent as I don't have any children yet and work from home, so no commute to worry about. I'm sure if I were as busy as you, I'd be feeling very pregnant and worn out! But so far, touch wood, I haven't really felt like I've struggled to do anything I normally do. I sometimes get tired a bit more quickly when I go swimming I suppose.

Torsz · 29/03/2019 12:20

@imtakingabath I'm similar to you - no children and a pretty easy commute/office job so I've not had to change a lot so far. I don't even drink or eat any of the foods we're not allowed 😂

My only major life change has been stopping kettlebells (I'm still doing aerobics classes etc), but I'm conscious that everything will change in a few short weeks!!

KoalasAteMyHomework · 29/03/2019 12:53

@hexagon01 hope the move is going well, exciting times!

I can't wait to have my stronger coffees again, although if I breastfeed I think the caffeine limitations are the same aren't they? And I definitely can't wait to be able to walk properly again - fingers crossed the varicose veins go away too.

Baby was all fine at the scan. Basically it's moved into a breech position and I was told that how baby is lying means I won't feel much movement other than at the top of my bump. Also the moving may have caused the pains I had. So I'm glad I got checked out as there obviously has been a change and reduction in what I can feel but it's nothing to worry about. Just got to hope baby turns by 36 weeks!

WeeBean · 29/03/2019 12:53

@Kescilly hope you're all done with the GTT and enjoying your ravioli! Good luck for the results!

Good luck to those of you with scans and house moves today too!! Take my hat off to those of you moving house, we moved a couple of months before our wedding last year and it was so stressful! Hope all goes smoothly!

I've been testing blood sugars for 2 days now and all has been within the limits, fingers crossed that continues but I hear it can get worse from 32 weeks with than increase in (more damn) hormones.

I can't wait to have Madden's cider, prosecco, white wine and chocolate cake when baby is here! Husband has promised to make sure I have a lovely chilled cider, chinese and guylian chocolates on my first night home after baby is born.

Also can't wait to not throw up every damn day, to be rid of nausea, back pain, leg cramps, the horrible taste in my mouth and excess saliva. Hurry up June!

Kescilly · 29/03/2019 19:37

@WeeBean I was really dizzy and exhausted when I came home, I don’t know if that’s a bad sign. Either way, I can cope! Glad to hear your numbers have been okay so far. Have you changed your diet significantly?

I think one of my fears early on was having to socialize and eat around other people after being diagnosed. Especially because my MIL is really anti-sugar and I worried about what she’d say. I’d rather not tell her, to be honest! But we have fewer social plans the next two months so I’m not feeling as insecure about that anymore.

Good luck to those moving, and definitely don’t be afraid to ask people around you for help. What an exciting time!

OP posts:
WeeBean · 29/03/2019 19:48

@Kescilly I felt exhausted after mine too but hadn't slept well. Did they say when they'd let you know? Haven't changed it significantly no, I've cut down on the wine gums which really helped with my nausea and added more salad to my lunch but that's about it. Must've jinxed it by saying my numbers were good as my pre dinner reading was 6.1 when it's meant to be 5.3 or under 🙄

That's a worry of mine too! We have two weddings in the next month and a bit 😔 Not looking forward to having to disappear to wash my hands and test before the meals.

Kescilly · 30/03/2019 14:04

@WeeBean it does give some insight into the lives of people with chronic illnesses like diabetes. How they must have to navigate around various situations. I hope you have some better readings today. I tried calling for my results as they said, but was told they weren’t in yet and I should call back tomorrow. Otherwise I think I’d get the call on Monday. I hate the waiting!

In more positive news, we received a package with all these hand-knitted presents for the baby. My husband and I met on an internet forum like this one, but much smaller. So we have people on there who we’ve never met in person that are actually quite excited for us!

I’ve been feeling alone during this pregnancy because I haven’t had my family and long term friends around. But I’m realizing that I do have support, even if it’s from unconventional places. Neighbors, coworkers, even internet strangers! It’s been really touching.

Does anyone have plans for Mother’s Day?

OP posts:
WeeBean · 30/03/2019 16:15

@Kescilly oh completely, it must be so difficult! I know it's hormone related for GD but there's an increased chance of developing type 2 and this is the kick up the arse I needed to improve my diet so hopefully avoid developing it. Hope you aren't waiting too long for results!

That's so sweet! If it's any consolation I've also found pregnancy a bit lonely and isolating and that's with our immediate families 15 minutes away and plenty of friends around. I can't imagine how hard it must be for you though, sometimes you need your mum, even at our age!

hexagon01 · 30/03/2019 18:45

Thanks for the moving well wishes! I managed to relax and let others do everything for the actual moving bit but didn’t take into account my mad desire for control when it comes to unpacking and choosing where to put things so now I’m so tired I can barely see. @PaulHollywoodsSexGut don’t be like me!! Especially at 35 weeks 😱

I also forgot how much there is to do to this house, ahhh shit it’s gonna be a fun couple of years. It’s nothing big just loads and loads of little things that can be done over time, but slightly overwhelming when I am pregnant, skint and dealing with an overwhelmed toddler. Need to remember I did this all to myself.

To first time mums feeling lonely in pregnancy, I absolutely did too and I hope you manage to find the lovely group of friends I’ve made since my first was born, they came along unexpectedly but just at the right time Smile

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 31/03/2019 00:36

I truly believe I’ve got pregnancy induced insomnia. Up just now in the living room, eating a yoghurt and wide awake.

socktastic · 31/03/2019 08:07

Place marking- sorry I managed to falloff the last thread! Hope everyone is doing well! xx
