June 2019 - Part 7!

Hi ladies! Picking names, packing hospital bags - third trimester here we come! Smile

I thought I'd start out with the stats this time and I'll post the updated name list in a bit. I've just included the data that I have, since a lot of people are missing bits (or quite possibly I've missed their posts). We come from all over, so I'll put that bit in another post later as well.

Our average age at estimated due date is 33! That should help some of us who are feeling older.

And that's not just because we're all second-timers! In fact, most of us are having our first baby this year.

Baby #1 - 31
Baby #2 - 26
Baby #3 - 9
Baby #4 - 1
Babies 1&2 together! - 1

Fifteen of us are expecting lovely little boys, nineteen of us are expecting darling little girls, and at least sixteen of us are waiting to be surprised!

The average due date is June 13th, and the most popular due date is June 24th. We don't have anyone expecting on the 15th, 23rd, 27th, or 30th as far as I can tell.

And if you happen to have a baby on my birthday (June 16th), your baby will be born on Father's Day this year!

Is anyone using Lactulose? If so, has it worked for you and how much and how often are you taking it?

Curlywurly3 · 31/03/2019 09:17

P.S Happy Mother’s Day to you all!

Blondcat · 31/03/2019 09:37

@curlywurly3 just started taking the sachets my gp prescribed me cosmocol but only done 3 days so far think they might be helping slightly but early days. Painful piles so anything which helps right now will be great...

Happy mothers day everyone x

Daffydillo · 31/03/2019 11:10

Happy Mother’s Day all!
I’ve got my first session for birth trauma therapy and my GTT this week, neither of which I am excited for!
Hips really sore when rolling over in bed at night, I wake up every time I move which isn’t fun. However I did have a lovely moment watching baby move around - really visible kicks from the outside! DS1 didn’t move half as much (or I just didn’t feel very much) so this has been a real treat Smile
I’m still teaching infants full time and running around after my eldest. I am definitely more tired this time around!!

mrshadders · 31/03/2019 14:47

Mother's Day has been a sad day for me for so long - my mum died when I was 20 (I'm 29 now). My husband woke me with a gift and card from the bump this morning and my heart feels so full, I can't imagine when our baby is actually here!
Good to hear the move went well @hexagon01 - moving into a new house is so daunting when you feel like you have so much to do! Keep trying to take it easy!

hexagon01 · 31/03/2019 18:49

Thank you @mrshadders. Everything starting to come together even more now so I’m trying to relax into it. The baby’s room is a state but the baby won’t even need it for a long time so I’m trying to be chill! That’s really sweet of your husband, hopefully you can change the focus of Mother’s Day while still remembering your Mum ❤️

swiftfox · 31/03/2019 19:18

@mrshadders aww. Your husband sounds lovely. We have a slightly similar thing - my hubby lost his dad a few years ago, and having a son a fewer weeks before fathers' day is bringing up all sorts of emotions. I hope you can find happiness in mothers days to come.

@curlywurly3 I've been on lactulose for ages... I took the bigger dose for a few days until my bowels started working, and now I'm doing a smaller one evenings only. My midwife said I shouldn't worry about taking it long-term.

I did the hypnobirthing class today and I'm still digesting it...

mrshadders · 31/03/2019 19:48

Thanks @hexagon01 and @swiftfox. What did you make of the hypnobirthing then? I've not even considered it actually, would be good to hear about it!

rollerskaterdata · 31/03/2019 20:52

@Curlywurly3 one dose usually does it for me, 15ml or thereabouts. I've also got some packed in my hospital bag to take after birth so I don't have to deal with painful poos like last time!

mrshadders · 31/03/2019 21:20

What's the deal with lactulose?

Curlywurly3 · 31/03/2019 22:36

Thanks for your replies ladies, the pharmacist gave it to me rather than the doctor so wanted to check in and see what’s shay with it so your replies have been helpful.

@mrsshadders basically I have been putting up with constipation for months but recently it has gotten progressively worse, really not good, terrible in fact. I started taking Lactulose two days ago and this morning I went to the toilet and it didn’t hurt! I was so happy! 🙈

@swiftfox let us know your thoughts on the hypnobirthing class x

KoalasAteMyHomework · 01/04/2019 07:31

Hope everyone had a good Mother's Day, especially those of you who find it quite hard.
Curlywurly3 I've heard of it but not used it so I'm afraid I'm no help.
Off to get some peppermint tea later as where baby has shifted I'm getting so much painful trapped wind! Pregnancy is so glam....

mrshadders · 01/04/2019 07:43

I feel you @KoalasAteMyHomework - if anyone finds any of that elusive 'pregnancy glow' can you send some my way please?

Dustyzest · 01/04/2019 07:54

Hello again! Talking of wind and constipation and all the glam bits, has anyone found their skin has just erupted? I’ve never been a spot prone person but this past week it’s insane.

My hairline has gone super dry and itchy but my face is so oily and I have three massive spots! I could talk the bacne and the chest spots as they were easy to cover up, but the one on my nose is so big it’s affecting my vision.

Where’s this glow we were promised?

@koalasatemyhomework Tesco finest peppermint tea is really good btw!

toomanyflatwhites · 01/04/2019 10:27

Haha I just came in to complain that I have the WORST wind today - woke up with it thanks to what we ate for dinner last night! Not stinking (THANKFULLY) but almost comically noisy...there is hardly anyone in my office this morning and those who are here are really quiet, am terrified I'm going to let one escape and humiliate myself horribly Blush

Reastie · 01/04/2019 10:41

Curkywurly I’m on the same sachet stuff mentioned uothread but I buy it under brand name movicol. If you decide to take this instead of lactulose happy to answer any questions. I’ve been taking it for a few months now regularly (on ondansetron which causes mega constipation).

Hope those of you that had tricky Mothering Sunday’s hope you’re ok today.

I’m full of cold and very sorry for myself. And it’s making me feel so poorly. My whole body aches and is just so tired. I walk into the kitchen and I have to stand still to recover. Yesterday I just had to lie in bed and not move as everything hurt. And paracetamol does nothing, not a sausage. Can someone please make time speed up by a couple of months, this is just the toughest slowest time ever. Oh, and mh team still haven’t contacted me. I think they’re hoping I go away so they don’t have to see me and if they wait long enough it’ll be too late.

Growth scan onnwednesday so at least I have something to look forward to, assuming I can physically make it to the scan.

KoalasAteMyHomework · 01/04/2019 10:42

Thanks for the tea recommendations!
Have to say I am struggling a bit today. I have developed some sort of pregnancy excema/sensitive skin, my back legs and hips ache, my varicose veins look awful and I have spots everywhere. Still not sleeping well, and now I have the trapped wind and painful pressure. I can't believe I still have 10 weeks to go! This pregnancy has definitely been harder than my first!

WeeBean · 01/04/2019 11:22

Feel your pain Reastie! Also loaded with the cold and feeling completely shite. I'm off work and still in bed with one of my lovely cats for company, he never leaves my side when I'm feeling awful bless him.

We have my brother in law's wedding on Thursday and I really hope this clears up by then! My last cold lasted 3 weeks though...

I wish someone would invent a fast forward button. At least I can now say baby will be here the month after next, still feels like a lifetime away though!

Dustyzest · 01/04/2019 11:35

Re wind... I got stuck in a lift with a client on the way to a business meeting the other day for an hour. Of course, five mins in I let off the longest, loudest trump ever. Thank god it was odourless but the next 55 mins were so awkward.

toomanyflatwhites · 01/04/2019 11:59

OMG @Dustyzest as if being trapped in a lift wasn't bad enough - that's horrific!!
I am in all kinds of discomfort now, tbh letting a loud one rip might even be preferable to this level of pain! (Who am I kidding, I would die of embarrassment....)

Dustyzest · 01/04/2019 12:24

It was SO bad. They are such a fancy client. I was shimmying around everywhere trying to engineer a shoe squeak to see if I could blag it, but no chance! Tbf they were so mortified at having a pregnant woman trapped in their lift that the meeting went even better than expected...

Kescilly · 01/04/2019 12:33

Oh Dusty that sounds awful! I never knew just how embarrassing pregnancy could be.

So I had my third glucose test on Friday, first thing in the morning. They told me I wouldn’t get a call until Monday but the results would be there by Saturday morning so I could call and get them.

Called Saturday, they weren’t in yet. Told to call on Sunday. So I called on Sunday, told to call again today. Just called now and they’re still not back. I’m all 😬 waiting for the results but at this point I might as well just wait for the phone call.

SassehMonsta · 01/04/2019 12:41

Hello, dropping in to say HIIIII on the new thread. I love the stats, thanks Kes! I laughed at the farting in a lift bit. Oops!

I am pleased to announce that I am having my baby NEXT MONTH. I will not be allowed past 24th May without induction. EEEEEK. More details to be discussed at appointment on Thursday I guess, but that's getting close.

I have 4 days left at work, after today. 4 days. That's a total of 18 hours, with just under 1.5 hours left today. Early finish on a Friday, and also leaving early on Thursday for clinic.

Diabetes wise, I am bored to death of testing my sugars, and keep forgetting doses of insulin at bedtime because I am so so so tired. When I have been checking, they are mostly OK. Its just tedious. Last time I quit testing at 38 weeks because I was so fed up, but apparently I was signed off by consultant and was diet controlled at that point too. 31+3, so not looking forward to 33-35 as apparently that's worse. Booooo.

WeeBean · 01/04/2019 12:48

@Kescilly hope you get your results soon!! I got mine the same afternoon, strange how different hospitals/areas work!

@SassehMonsta yay for a baby next month!! If you don't mind me asking at what stage did they put you on insulin? My fasting readings have to be between 4-5.3 and they've been 5.2 or 5.3 every morning, which I thought was grand but now wondering if it's going to be an issue that they're always right on the borderline.

Reastie · 01/04/2019 12:58

Weebean I didn’t get put on insulin last time and had increasingly off readings as things progressed. I think they need to be more than borderline for them to have medical intervention. My morning readings always had the opposite problem where my levels were too low which is causing me some concern for fasting for the csection and being in a hypoglycemic state Confused
