June 2019 - Part 7!

Hi ladies! Picking names, packing hospital bags - third trimester here we come! Smile

I thought I'd start out with the stats this time and I'll post the updated name list in a bit. I've just included the data that I have, since a lot of people are missing bits (or quite possibly I've missed their posts). We come from all over, so I'll put that bit in another post later as well.

Our average age at estimated due date is 33! That should help some of us who are feeling older.

And that's not just because we're all second-timers! In fact, most of us are having our first baby this year.

Baby #1 - 31
Baby #2 - 26
Baby #3 - 9
Baby #4 - 1
Babies 1&2 together! - 1

Fifteen of us are expecting lovely little boys, nineteen of us are expecting darling little girls, and at least sixteen of us are waiting to be surprised!

The average due date is June 13th, and the most popular due date is June 24th. We don't have anyone expecting on the 15th, 23rd, 27th, or 30th as far as I can tell.

And if you happen to have a baby on my birthday (June 16th), your baby will be born on Father's Day this year!

@fee1234 I finished working about 3 weeks ago and am in full nesting mode now! Taken down our ugly blinds that were here when we bought the house and put up black out curtains in all bedrooms, finished the nursery and finished buying the last bits and pieces for baby. My hospital bag, baby's hospital/changing bag and DS's overnight bag all packed. Also had a bump photoshoot (instead of a baby sprinkle) which was lovely. Now just to enjoy the rest of the Easter holidays with teacher hubby before he goes back to work end next week and then it really is final countdown! I'm turning 34 weeks this week and time has definitely sped up since hitting 30 weeks!

Daffydillo · 16/04/2019 00:06

Just checking in. I had my growth scan on Friday, baby is 3lb8oz and his head is on the 91st centile... maybe I just make big babies as DS1 was 99.6th centile. GTT came back negative.

Seeing consultant tomorrow I just don’t know what to do for the best. I’m of a small build and after the trauma of giving birth to DS vaginally last time (and the recovery both physically and mentally as a result) I’m expecting to be pushed for a c section which I’m also terrified of. Can anyone sense I’m possibly feeling a bit overwhelmed?!

Baby seems fine he’s very busy, DS has been incredibly sweet about his new baby brother to be Smile

LauralovesLuke · 16/04/2019 06:44

Hi all, I've been away since mid-March - work went a bit overwhelming to the point the union are involved as proposed changes means massive impact on my job - not anything anyone wants and especially just before maternity leave.

Have I missed anything big? Has anyone had a super early baby? Anyone now on maternity leave?

toomanyflatwhites · 16/04/2019 08:17

Welcome back @LauralovesLuke -sounds stressful, I hope there's something like a resolution round the corner? And no early babies that we know of, but definitely some already on leave (not me!)

I was laying awake this morning from about 4am 🙄 DP got back from his work trip yesterday so I couldn't play my hypnobirthing relaxation track to help me get back to sleep (apart from on my headphones, and then I can't sleep with them on...) so that was annoying! Decided to go into work early so that I can head home early. It's my only day in the office this week thanks to Easter, midwife and doctors appointments tomorrow and having been off yesterday because I couldn't walk. Broken toe is much less swollen today but I'm still limping when I have shoes on, so it's definitely slowed me down!!

KoalasAteMyHomework · 16/04/2019 08:44

@annihall that's awful about the car! What happened? No way of getting the money back?

I do not know much about breast pumps at all but I think I read on Mumsnet there are different types and some can be more thoroughly cleaned. I think a closed system pump doesn't let milk into certain areas of the pump so can be used by different mums (it's what hospitals use) whereas open system can be trickier to clean. So if buying second hand maybe look at a closed system? But am sure there are lots of ladies on here with much better knowledge than me.

imtakingabath · 16/04/2019 10:10

I'm actually considering getting a breast pump from a smaller brand on Amazon, some of them have really good reviews and they're much more affordable than the big brands, e.g.:

Kescilly · 16/04/2019 10:15

@imtakingabath just be careful as Amazon is full of cheap products with fake reviews now. I used to use it all the time in the US but it's gotten really bad.

I often run products through this site as another point of comparison.

imtakingabath · 16/04/2019 10:22

@Kescilly thanks, that's a good point! Fakespot seems happy with the reviews for the first one so I will probably go with that one over the second.

annihall · 16/04/2019 10:33

@imtakingabath the first one looks really good, I might go for that one as well... surely over 500 reviews can't be wrong?!

@KoalasAteMyHomework the car situation is a long story - basically we fell for a car trader that claimed to be part of direct cars but was a fraud. He sold us a car that looked good (DH checked engine etc as well as good as he could). We transferred the money (£800) and took the car with us, but engine blew up and car started smoking on the way home. It's not repairable and apparently some major issue has been temporarily covered very well - didn't even last 25 minutes but was enough to survive the test drive. Now the guy's trader profile and google maps business are deleted, his phone number is inactive and the name and company he said he was a partner to were lies as well. Police can't help as they don't have enough information and also say it's not their responsibility, we need to pay a solicitor to go to small claims court but obviously we can't afford that. Just what we needed with less than 8 weeks until the baby's here...

anonforthespies43267 · 16/04/2019 10:48

Can I join? Only just seen this board. Due 28th June with a little girl x

KoalasAteMyHomework · 16/04/2019 10:48

That sucks so much @annihall and awful to happen right before baby is due. Seriously what is wrong with some people?! To con another person is bad enough, but a pregnant woman at that!! I'm sorry not much can be done. I presume insurance doesn't cover these things as the faults would be "wear and tear"? Sounds like you took all the usual sensible steps when purchasing so its just rubbish that this has happened. Am so sorry Flowers

annihall · 16/04/2019 11:01

@KoalasAteMyHomework no unfortunately insurance won't pay, another issue is that it seems like the guy hasn't sent off the V5C document so all we have is the little green slip for the new keeper so far... means we can't even scrap it to get £50 for it. We'll just have to wait and hope that we at least eat the document at some point so we can try and sell for spares and repairs.
Oh well, trying to stay positive though and I definitely learned that I won't buy a used car from some stranger anymore ha.

annihall · 16/04/2019 11:02

*GET the document of course, not eat 😂

KoalasAteMyHomework · 16/04/2019 13:46

We'll just have to wait and hope that we at least eat the document

Might be worth more as food by the sounds of it haha! But seriously, am sorry this happened to you.

fee1234 · 16/04/2019 14:58

So this week has brought with it a new symptom.. carpal tunnel in my hands 😩 I wake up and can't move my fingers because they are so sore and swollen, and they remain painful all day. Midwife wasn't worried about it being anything more than that as everything else looked fine, but she said it will probably last until baby is here. Feel like a big swollen marshmallow, and I'm going to a friends wedding next week 😩

swiftfox · 16/04/2019 15:08

I'm feeling quite overwhelmed and emotional too. 32 weeks tomorrow and I'm suddenly teary but also quite cantankerous. I had a complete tantrum yesterday when I dropped fresh white sheets on the ground and had to rewash them. Then cried when I could get the cover off the Moses basket Hmm

Working from home today - pelvic pain is getting worse and work are very unhappy because I'm "never there". 32 week growth scan tomorrow. A month ago baby was on the 50th centile and I'm hoping that's his trajectory!

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 16/04/2019 15:12

I’ve got the temperament of a rabid Malcolm Tucker right now.

Now THIS is the common stage to the pregnancies I’ve had before, just hitting 32w and being all like “EVERYTHING CAN FUCK OFF”.

Work is abysmal, my team are like squabbling bairns, I’m tired of the infighting, I’m fed up of shit work being passed off as acceptable and I am even keeping a fucking gratitude journal now as I know I’ll actually miss certain freedoms work brings when I’m 0-6months post partum. I just can’t get beyond the high level of twats I’m exposed to daily atm.

Torsz · 16/04/2019 15:53

@fee1234 I have carpal tunnel too, came out of nowhere last week 😢 I bought some compression gloves on eBay and have been sleeping in them and it's really helped - if I forget I wake up with my fingers stuck in claws!x

fee1234 · 16/04/2019 15:58

@Torsz I'm going to buy some - did you go for the actesso ones that come down past the wrist?

Torsz · 16/04/2019 15:59

@fee1234 nope, I just went for these cheap ones!

June 2019 - Part 7!
fee1234 · 16/04/2019 16:03

@Torsz they look perfect - going to order a pair just now. Thanks!

Heyha · 16/04/2019 17:41

I'm more grumpy than teary too, good job we're off work because they have been quite arsey lately and I've not been very tolerant in response (@swiftfox they are being quite naughty if they are making negative comments about your attendance in pregnancy, you'd be within your rights to point out the rules to the next idiot that says something if you felt like it...).

Midwife again tomorrow so will see what we are measuring at this time. Hoping to stay on the 50th line too!

KoalasAteMyHomework · 16/04/2019 18:20

Definitely more tears here too Grin Gotta love hormones!

rollerskaterdata · 16/04/2019 20:33

Oh me too it's ridiculous, I cried watching 'close calls' on the BBC this morning 🙄

toomanyflatwhites · 16/04/2019 22:27

Oh I'll join the club - more emotional than usual whether that's tears or grumpiness! I cried looking at things about the Notre Dame when I was awake in the early hours of this morning, then had absolutely zero patience with DP and DD this evening (though I think both were pretty justified do be honest!!!)
