Hi ladies! Picking names, packing hospital bags - third trimester here we come! Smile

I thought I'd start out with the stats this time and I'll post the updated name list in a bit. I've just included the data that I have, since a lot of people are missing bits (or quite possibly I've missed their posts). We come from all over, so I'll put that bit in another post later as well.

Our average age at estimated due date is 33! That should help some of us who are feeling older.

And that's not just because we're all second-timers! In fact, most of us are having our first baby this year.

Baby #1 - 31
Baby #2 - 26
Baby #3 - 9
Baby #4 - 1
Babies 1&2 together! - 1

Fifteen of us are expecting lovely little boys, nineteen of us are expecting darling little girls, and at least sixteen of us are waiting to be surprised!

The average due date is June 13th, and the most popular due date is June 24th. We don't have anyone expecting on the 15th, 23rd, 27th, or 30th as far as I can tell.

And if you happen to have a baby on my birthday (June 16th), your baby will be born on Father's Day this year!

Thankyou @allfurcoatboknickers, thats great to know, hoping all goes well, it will be interesting to see what size the baby is as ive really popped the last few days, and i hope we get to see its face again. Oh and Also i love your username!

Fizzytonicplease · 14/04/2019 17:51

@allfurcoatnoknickers

allfurcoatnoknickers · 14/04/2019 19:55

@Fizzytonicplease Thanks! I feel like it sums up my life well Grin.

Forgot to mention - they also told us how much the baby weighed- 4lbs which is average. Doctor was very happy with the progress, told me anything from 20th percentile upwards is absolutely fine by her and emphasized that we do NOT want to be dealing with a massive 90th percentile baby.

fee1234 · 14/04/2019 21:34

Anyone else been feeling emotional with hormones?

I had a small argument with my gran earlier and she was a bit nasty to me.. but I got so upset and still keep getting tearful thinking back to it.

I nearly cried yesterday when I saw a bird with worms in its mouth because I was imagining the hungry babies back in the nest.

I'm usually the last person to cry over anything!

WeeBean · 14/04/2019 22:07

@fee1234 we started watching that Our Planet on Netflix the other day. My DH had to turn it off because I cried (almost uncontrollably) at a baby seal being taken by a polar bear and then it's mum popping up from the water looking for it. Could not deal!!

allfurcoatnoknickers · 15/04/2019 03:16

@fee1234 I am a wreck. I cry over EVERYTHING. I've been like this for the whole pregnancy, but I swear it's getting worse.

A few days ago I tearfully (hysterically) made DH promise not to get rid of the dogs if I die having this baby. DH adores the dogs and I have no reason to worry about dying Hmm

annihall · 15/04/2019 06:46

@WeeBean haha that's so funny - exactly the same happened to me. We also watched it and I couldn't cope with how cruel nature could be and we had to stop watching it. Glad I'm not the only one being overly emotional, my husband is finding it very hard to deal with my emotions lately as something like this on TV can change my mood completely...

WeeBean · 15/04/2019 06:59

@annihall snap! My DH just brings me in for a cuddle but has no idea what to do or say! I've also cried at Homeward Bound recently, basically anything on tv where animals are sad, I will cry!

Glad to see I'm not the only one!

KoalasAteMyHomework · 15/04/2019 07:15

@Fizzytonicplease I had a scan recently at around 29 weeks due to reduced movements. They did ask if I knew the sex when we went in for the scan, but when I had DS they didn't so I basically announced we didn't want to know as soon as we walked in the room haha! If they start the scan without asking then I'd mention just in case. They may measure the legs etc which means that you might see something you don't want to if they haven't warned you which area they are scanning!

Blondcat · 15/04/2019 08:06

Me too definitely very emotional cry over the silliest things. Like went to my 31w midwife appointment on Friday and there was no spaces in the car park and the train crossing had held me up then there was an old couple in the waiting room who stank of smoke midwife asked how I was really struggled but to cry she said hormones and normal unless effecting everyday health or other serious thoughts. Phew glad it is not just me...

fee1234 · 15/04/2019 09:25

Reassuring to know I'm not the only one, will be avoiding our planet for now!

33 weeks today 😮 time is flying by!! 2 weeks left at work, have any lucky ladies already finished up?

Napssavelives · 15/04/2019 09:33

I’m off, got signed off with stress a few weeks ago. I’m a nurse and I was just finding work so hard - I had nothing to give.
Mat leave /pay starts at 34 weeks

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 15/04/2019 09:45

Well I am and I’m not...,

Received a “fit note” on Friday from my lovely GP which states I’m fit to work - from home.

I have an underlying heart condition and I’ve never known it so bad, set off by the zero sum sleep I’m having atm and general shit pregnancy effects on the heart/BP etc.

After having to rush in on Friday for nothing and having palpitations all day I saw the GP and she was totally supportive.

So that’s me WFH until my contract ends 31 May.

Little do they realise as of the 2nd I’ll be WFS (Scotland).

toomanyflatwhites · 15/04/2019 09:54

I'm still at work until 24th may (37 weeks) though barely a full weeks work thanks to Easter (we get extra days off as I work for a university), bank holidays, a few appointments - starting to panic about getting my work finished up! But then today I'm not at work because of my stupid toe - went to see the Dr and he confirmed it's broken but nothing that can be done. Feels a lot like my last mat leave - I have a million things I want to/need to do (DP's back tonight from a long work trip and the house is like a bomb's hit it!) but I can't really walk...
Glad you got that sorted @PaulHollywoodsSexGut and @Napssavelives definitely sounds wise that you're signed off now, but hope it's not too tough with the Easter holidays.

annihall · 15/04/2019 11:38

6 weeks left at work, I'm 32 weeks today... chances are that I might have to go straight from the office to hospital. Struggling already so not too sure how I will manage 6 more 40-hour weeks 🙈

Blondcat · 15/04/2019 12:06

Just a quick note ladies Aldi are doing their next baby event starting online on 21st and instore 25th don't have any details of what they will have yet but thought it was worth mentioning

Kescilly · 15/04/2019 12:16

Thanks for the compliments on the nursery! I joke that the wallpaper is my way of accepting British weather.

I’m unemployed so have had spare time but somehow still seem so busy. I’m a little self-conscious that even if I do make friends with other mums, they will all eventually go back to work and I’ll feel a bit silly. But I’m also lucky to be able to stay home with our child, so trying to be positive about it.

I’ve hopefully sorted the iron dilemma as well. I had to come to the surgery for another appointment, so explained the situation to the receptionist. They’ll have a GP ring me later, so that’s a relief.

How is everyone feeling emotionally? Excited? Nervous? Exhausted?!

Just had my growth scan all was well baby is head down (they called it cephalic presentation) head is measuring about a week ahead, 50th centile weighing over 3lb

hexagon01 · 15/04/2019 14:17

I’m working up until the end of May (ish, might take some holiday before) but my maternity cover has started today which feels very strange - I’m not actually in as I don’t work Mondays. She’s started early and is working full time as my job has grown so much in the last year or so (loads more work than I used to have and I only do three days) and I’m hoping she’ll be kept on when I get back.

I’m 31 weeks now and I’m definitely starting to feel exhausted. I feel like with moving and having a nearly 2 year old I just haven’t had time to think about this baby at all and I’m really scared how it will slot into our lives - I suppose it just will though!

@Kescilly I have a few baby-pals who don’t work, and most of us only work part time so there’s definitely no need to feel silly! I like the ones who don’t work as they can fit around my working days!

annihall · 15/04/2019 17:28

What do people think of used/ second hand breast pumps? In my head I want a new one for hygiene reasons but they're so bloody expensive... does anyone have a second hand one? Also which brands are the best ones?

We've had our baby shower with the family last weekend and they all bought lovely stuff, unfortunately not any of the practical stuff from our wish list though so we're left with a long list of essentials we need to buy.
Also we've just lost £800 (all our savings!) on a 'new/used' car we bought that turned out to be a fraud... so we're trying to get the rest of the baby stuff for as cheap as possible

Torsz · 15/04/2019 17:44

I'm 33+3 today and have exactly one month left at work - on the one hand I'm excitedly counting down, but on the other I really enjoy my job and I won't be getting maternity pay so I'd like to drag it out as long as possible 😂
Had my baby shower yesterday too, which was lovely...I can't get over how generous people are! Last night I went on amazon and Facebook marketplace to order the last few bits so I think we have everything we need for the first 6m now (other than nappies/wipes etc which we have a few of but need to bulk buy when we know what we need).
Now we just need to finish the building work and get the nursery painted/built and we'll be ready 😂
34 week appointment tomorrow - wonder if we'll finally get to listen to the heartbeat!!!

Pigriver · 15/04/2019 18:08

@annihall
I know what you mean about the breast pump! I was given a medela swing by a friend and you can buy replacement kits so it’s only the motor unit that is being reused IYSWIM. It also felt a bit less weird as it was a friend! It ended up costing £30 instead of the £100 or whatever they usually are.

allfurcoatnoknickers · 15/04/2019 20:35

Since I'm in the US, even with my "excellent" maternity leave, I'll be working until my June 11th due date Sad. And because it's busy season, I'll be working straight through the weekend of June 1st-2nd. Just thinking about it makes me feel tired...

toomanyflatwhites · 15/04/2019 21:31

@annihall last time I bought a medala on eBay for £50ish...it was only after I bought it that I discovered it's really not recommended as milk can get into the unit (somehow?) and can't really be fully cleaned. Also it might be because I bought it too late on so I wasn't producing tons (thought plenty to feed DD seventy billion hours a day of course!) but I hardly for more our if it than from the manual pump I'd occasionally used Hmm
My suspicion though is that the motor was farked, buying one second hand from a stranger like I did means you have no idea how long it's been used by (or by how many people... Confused). I'm actually going to buy an Elvie this time which I know are £££ but I figure as I don't need to buy much else I'm going to treat myself!!

Kescilly · 15/04/2019 21:37

Glad to hear it @Fizzytonicplease!

Thanks, @hexagon01. I think I’m just feeling self-conscious these days and wondering what the future holds for me socially speaking. Are you settled in your new house?

@annihall don’t people rent breast pumps sometimes? There must be a way to clean them, or at least some of the parts. I know what you mean about the expense. I have a baby book that says not to pump until your supply is established, so I think I will just wait and see how breastfeeding is going before I commit to buying a pump. Medela and Phillips Avent both seem quite good. Have you seen the hakaa?

@Torsz I feel like in some places they just don’t bother with the heartbeat! I finally heard it at my last appointment, but I think it’s because the midwife was newly from Scotland and didn’t know all the procedures here. Good luck at your appointment!

We aren’t having a big shower or expecting loads of presents. My parents have been really generous and gifted us all of our nursery furniture, plus the travel system. Far more than we were expecting!

My husband’s aunt has just bought us a baby carrier though which is also incredibly generous. I’m really excited to use it now! My husband tried it on in the store and they had a fake baby and all. 😂
