June 2019 - Part 7!

Hi ladies! Picking names, packing hospital bags - third trimester here we come! Smile

I thought I'd start out with the stats this time and I'll post the updated name list in a bit. I've just included the data that I have, since a lot of people are missing bits (or quite possibly I've missed their posts). We come from all over, so I'll put that bit in another post later as well.

Our average age at estimated due date is 33! That should help some of us who are feeling older.

And that's not just because we're all second-timers! In fact, most of us are having our first baby this year.

Baby #1 - 31
Baby #2 - 26
Baby #3 - 9
Baby #4 - 1
Babies 1&2 together! - 1

Fifteen of us are expecting lovely little boys, nineteen of us are expecting darling little girls, and at least sixteen of us are waiting to be surprised!

The average due date is June 13th, and the most popular due date is June 24th. We don't have anyone expecting on the 15th, 23rd, 27th, or 30th as far as I can tell.

And if you happen to have a baby on my birthday (June 16th), your baby will be born on Father's Day this year!

I’m come into the middle of the night cereal phase, 31 weeks, maybe a growth spurt?! I remember it with both kids at various points in pregnancy, I’d wake up starving . Anyone else?!

Spargle · 14/04/2019 02:17

@napssavelives I’ve not actually left the middle of the night cereal phase, per se, although my liaisons have been few and far between since about 14 weeks. Now, though, if I actually wake up in the night it’s 50:50 whether I’ll need some cereal.

(Right now I’m just finishing winding down after my brother’s wedding. Unfortunately, I’m so tired I can’t quite manage to get my teeth cleaned so I can sleep. I’ve done so very well to still be conscious, but it’s clearly all a bit too much!)

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 14/04/2019 06:18

My hunger at night is so bad atm @napssavelives. Coupled with being unable to breathe through my nose leading to a dry mouth and hourly wakings I’m in the “hellish” stage of pregnancy sleep.

Anyone else developed the stuffy nose thing? Can’t work out if it’s pregnancy rhinitis (common apparently) or just a cold.

swiftfox · 14/04/2019 06:25

@kescilly I've self-referred to physio, but it's only got bad in the few days. hopefully they can help! @paulhollywoodssexgut the essential oils mainly used are lavender, citrus fruits (I liked mandarin which helps with nausea) and frankincense. Clary sage can be used from week 37 to bring on labor which I'll definitely use, as like you, I'm keen to avoid a C-section! I thought the hypnobirthing class was useful in helping me think about birth more positively. Thinking my body knows what is doing and doing it right was kind of empowering. Some parts of it we a bit too hippy-ish for me but I enjoyed the positivity and the "getting to know my body" -bit.

Been up since 4.30 having shreddies and doing a sudoku whilst watching the sun come up. I'd love to sleep till 7am solidly!

Napssavelives · 14/04/2019 06:32

I can’t sleep either @PaulHollywoodsSexGut. Awake 1-3 then up again at 630. I live in a permanent state of exhaustion. I bought a couple of baby things yesterday, vests and rompers. Going to do an online order for big stuff. Also bought breastpads, maternity pads and some lanolin (£10 a bloody tube!).

Fabuluce · 14/04/2019 07:50

I have pregnancy rhinitis - it's a total PITA and I also have a constantly over dry mouth in the night because of it. Fun times. It makes me super snorey so DH has moved to the spare room as there's no point in both of us having a crappy night's sleep.

Why don't you take your note that says you need iron supplements with you to Boots when you pick up Spatone? Loads of women get anaemia during pregnancy - sounds like the person you spoke to was being particularly over efficient. I have to take baby aspirin throughout my pregnancy and again, have never had a problem picking it up as it's so common to take during pregnancy now. Good luck!

toomanyflatwhites · 14/04/2019 09:39

Sorry to those of you not sleeping - DD is my main obstacle to this at the moment, though she did better last night thankfully. Meanwhile I'm cursing my stupidity this morning after I very nearly fell down the stairs after tripping on a plastic box of baby clothes I had left on the 3rd step 😳 really scared myself but luckily didn't fall properly - but I am pretty sure I have broken my little toe, it's SO bloody painful!! DP still away and taking DD to the theatre in central London this morning so can't go with the NHS advice to rest!
2 months today until my due date - also realised thanks to searching through my MN posts that today would have been my due date for the early loss I had in August. It was so early (5-6 weeks) that I hadn't really fixed on the dates (or believed it was happening) so I'm fine about it, it's just weird to think I would have been ready to pop by now!

fee1234 · 14/04/2019 09:47

@PaulHollywoodsSexGut I have it too! Keep waking myself up with the loudest snores and my throat is soo dry when I wake up. I've tried everything, a nasal spray before bed, sleeping with a teeth retainer in, nothing works the snoring just keeps coming back. Hopefully disappears once baby is here, from what I've heard it's quite common though.

Blondcat · 14/04/2019 10:03

@toomanyflatwhites me too two months today until due date. Hope your toe is OK. I am trying really hard to slow down on the stairs and use the banisters, not leave stuff on them etc but sometimes forget then scare myself as I nearly go over...
I had an early loss a year ago this week (also about 6 weeks) so would have had a roughly 5mth old now.

My hip is hurting today so was awake early done some pregnancy yoga which has eased it a bit. Going to pop out in a bit and see if a little walk helps too. It's the outside edge and the one that plays me up from time to time even before pregnancy a little gentle exercise usually helps.

I am excited today we are getting rid of our king size spare bed and the room is going to be decorated this week so we can finally start sorting out the baby stuff into her room yay. I may actually start to feel like I am ready once that is done...

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 14/04/2019 10:08

Today is the day I get Breathe Right nasal strips. Gotta be done.

“good” to know I’m not alone @kescilly and @fee1234

Kescilly · 14/04/2019 10:21

Thanks for the iron tips! I had to send my husband to sneakily get other medicines in the past that I wasn’t “allowed” despite being told to by a doctor. I didn’t think the iron would be a problem! I don’t have juice (was trying to avoid because of possible GD) but might look into the liquid. Unfortunately I don’t have a note because the hospital simply called and told me over the phone.

I’m with you on the pregnancy rhinitis. Except I also have year round allergies and asthma, so I’m never sure what is what. My top tips are nasal strips, showers/humidifiers, and saline spray. These only make a dent for me but I think they might help those with lesser rhinitis.

The construction dust from the bathroom probably isn’t helping!

We’ve been working flat out trying to assemble furniture and we have the wardrobe assembled, have made good progress on the dresser. It’s all massive but I think we will want the storage.

Kescilly that room is lovely, love the wallpaper. Fwiw we had a wardrobe like that for dd and it was so handy as we piled in to the bottom of the wardrobe boxes of nappies and wipes as stocked up when they were on offer.

I don’t know if I have pg sniffles or just still getting over my cold!

Still very sicky pretty much every day and doing anything exascabates (Can’t spell) it so feeling sorry for myself. I’m so over being pg. hopefully only 9 weeks to go. I actually can’t wait to just have a day without feeling sick.

Fwiw re iron I’ve always used liquid floradix and found it very good and gentle. I buy from amazon.

WeeBean · 14/04/2019 11:10

Ooh @Kescilly that room looks gorgeous, love the wallpaper! Also, your cat is very cute 😊

Our Mamas and Papas furniture arrived on Friday, DH has been away on a stag this weekend so we're going to tackle it next weekend when we've both got a long weekend off work. I'm excited about it!

Williams0706 · 14/04/2019 11:52

Hi! I'm 28 and expecting a baby girl on June 20th. She'll be my second baby - my first having been a boy in July 2017!

Heyha · 14/04/2019 11:55

Ooh @kescilly that looks lovely! And welcome @williams0706 you are due date buddies with me and @daffydillo Smile

Heyha · 14/04/2019 12:00

And what I also meant to say was I've made my mind up about changing table- ordered a folding one partly because if I don't like it for baby I can see if having a million and one uses on my smallholding Blush

Paying our first visit to mamas and papas and Mothercare today as I need some maternity cushions (dreamgeniie going back in the cupboard!) and bras, how exciting 😂

hexagon01 · 14/04/2019 12:01

I’ve experienced people overeager not to sell me things I need in pregnancy too! One pharmacists assistant was convinced I wasn’t allowed Gaviscon Advance, I would not have been responsible for my actions if she’d not given it to me!

Bigonesmallone3 · 14/04/2019 13:23

Been gone for two weeks so I'm well out of the loop.
Had a lovely holiday.. now need to crack on with getting things ready for this baby.
Il get on with some catching up on here first :)

Heyha · 14/04/2019 16:03

Oh my, Mothercare was an ordeal. No wonder it's going under!

toomanyflatwhites · 14/04/2019 16:08

Lovely wallpaper (and furniture!) @Kescilly!

Update from me is that my tie is now purple and swollen and am in complete agony (repeating myself for FB group people!) Such a silly thing!! Anyway am massively grateful that DD is having a (now rare) nap after our busy morning at the theatre (and am sure I made the toe MUCH worse) bur her nap is now approaching 2 hours and I really should wake her but can't bring myself to!

toomanyflatwhites · 14/04/2019 16:18

Tie? No, toe!!

Fizzytonicplease · 14/04/2019 16:45

Just been catching back up on the thread. I cant belive how quick the pregnancy is going, im 29 weeks and starting to get a bit of heartburn. I have a growth scan due to low bmi tomorrow and im going to take DS with me so he can see the baby.

Quick questions shall i make sure to tell the sonographer that we dont want to know the sex? Will it be quick check the size and that's it, didnt have growth scans with DS so not sure what toe expect, but looking forward to seeing the baby again.

allfurcoatnoknickers · 14/04/2019 17:04

@Fizzytonicplease I had to have one of those on Friday - the doctor was worried because I haven't gained much weight (my morning sickness never went away...), and I'm measuring several weeks behind. Baby is in the 51st percentile Shock.

Right when we walked in the room, the sonographer asked me if we wanted to know/already knew the sex, so it's something they have in mind. For me, she checked on the heart, length of femur and kidneys, and also measured the size of the head. She wanted to show us the face just for fun, but the baby is currently a frank breech with the hands and feet in front of the face, so we couldn't see anything!

Napssavelives · 14/04/2019 17:32

I think I’ve pulled a muscle in my bump :( it very much feels like muscle pain on one side of my belly. I’ve potentially been overdoing it, painting, moving stuff ect.. it really hurts. Perhaps it’s time to slow down a bit.
