Phew, finally found you all!

Hope everyone's well.

I've got another small baby on board - her weight isn't even on the bottom centile. Scans every two weeks, steroid injections (which are so painful) and close eye on movements.

I see my home birth slipping away :(

Kentishgal · 10/05/2019 17:51

Aww birthdaykake sorry to hear about the extra stress - I think I recall you saying you'd had small babies before? At least they are monitoring and giving you the (by the sounds of it not v nice) steroids.

BirthdayKake · 10/05/2019 18:44

@Kentishgal aww bless you remembering! Yep my others were small too. Three out of four classed as SGA babies. I had no idea what to expect this time as it's my husband's first, but there you go! 30+4 now... Can't believe how far we've all come!

Giraffe888 · 11/05/2019 08:45

Morning ladies

Some of the things talked about on here does make me smile 😂 I’ve not noticed any extra veins or nipple changes yet but I know I’m a bit further behind some of you. I’m 29 wks today.

We’re using my DH first name as baby’s middle name. I really like DH’s name and it goes perfect with the name we’ve chosen.

We booked a 4D scan yesterday for next week. Been debating it but couldn’t justify the cost. Found an offer on wowcher for £39 though so went for it.

Here’s the link if any use to anyone else x

Yukka · 11/05/2019 10:27

Lots of veins here too.

@kentishgal maybe the steroids will work enough to get you the home birth? Fingers crossed.

Re summer wear, one lady on here a while ago said the general rule is for baby to wear one more layer than you. My sis recently said the same- vest and baby grow on warm days will be enough, blankets if it starts to get chilly outside.

@onemorewish sorry about the GD, what are the key diet changes you have to make out of interest as my results were borderline and I’d like to make some changes

So tired today. 5 weeks at work too, replacement starts in 2 weeks.Hoping to go shopping today for few more nursery bits. Mothercare has a big sale on bottle stuff and sterilisers.

Capybaras · 11/05/2019 14:20

Oh shopping sounds lovely @Yukka - we've done most of ours online so feel like I've missed out a bit on physically going to shops and looking (if that makes sense!). Think we only need to get toiletries and little bits now.

I've got 5 weeks left too! But with bank holidays and annual leave I think it's only one full week as the rest will be 3/4 days (plus working from home after MW appointments!). Can't wait to be done!

Had a really busy week and caught a cold so feeling a bit down at the moment. Just a nice combo of being run down and hormonal! I'm away with work end of next week too and really not feeling it!

We had sex last night after a few weeks off due to being ill/busy/DH away with work etc and the difference in being that little bit bigger! It was comical trying to get into positions, and I could feel the baby kicking during which was weird! Think DH found it a bit off putting too.

BeckyButterfly · 11/05/2019 14:30

My sickness has come back with a vengance! 😩 I'm grateful for the fact that I had a good few weeks without it but I forgot how horrible it was. I'm back to carrying a sick bucket every where I go. 10 weeks, 4 days and counting! Haha.

StargazyDrifter · 11/05/2019 16:48

BeckyButterfly mine is back too ☹️ But not long now. I hate it so much.

BeckyButterfly · 11/05/2019 16:55

Aw @StargazyDrifter, it's horrible isn't it? We can do this!

Yukka · 11/05/2019 16:59

@capybaras got myself to the shops bought a few bits on sale, Muslins and next to me sheets etc and a few bits for hospital bag. Getting there!

Dh has been a no on sex from the beginning purely because of our mc history. Well done you guys for still going! I can imagine the baby wriggling would be a bit weird though!

I’m totally done with work, it’s funny how your motivations change, at least I can focus on handover in two weeks. Hope you feel better soon!

@beckybutterfly shame the sickness is back, hope you can find something that eases it this time!

Kentishgal · 11/05/2019 18:07

Still no sex since conception here - just can't face it because if I bled I know I'd stress - and I don't have the energy in any event!! Feel for you guys that are still suffering with sickness, that's really tough - not long now though. I've been reading some of the June thread the last few days and that's made me think I need to pack a hospital bag (I didn't pack until around my due date last time!) and buy a few bits. And we really need to find where we put the new born inserts for the car seats!!

thedust · 11/05/2019 18:55

I've been packing my hospital bag, bought some nursing bras from m&s, Primark nighties, dressing gown, etc. Will make a start on my toiletries bag too. My sister was getting worried when I said I hadn't started packing anything yet!

Went to IKEA this morning to return something and get some final bits for the nursery. We now have a shelf up to put cute things on! I'm really knackered though, slept terribly last night. Couldn't get comfy on either side, felt like my bump was just in the way. Only time I was comfy was on my back but then that made me paranoid. I guess this is the 3rd trimester! 31 weeks tomorrow.

RooKangaroo · 11/05/2019 19:06

Oh god, yes to the sickness coming back. Pregnancy life is so unfair :(

@Kentishgal: And we really need to find where we put the new born inserts for the car seats!!

Christ, that's a good point! I know the seat and base are in the loft and need bringing down at some point, but I've no idea if the insert is with them.... 🤔

Hi all

Sorry been AWOL! My phone broke and I'm using a spare so haven't really been using all the sites/apps I usually do !

Hope you're all well. Just checking in :)

Yukka · 12/05/2019 11:29

@thedust on your point of lying on your back, I read about it this week as it keeps being pointed out, it’s sounds scary but what do we all think?

I’ve bought a dreamgenii to help but baby really wriggles when I’m on my left side and I feel like I’m squashing him/her.

The most comfortable is on my back, I wondered if the risk was much later on or genuinely from 28 w.

Right hand side isn’t too bad but don’t want swollen feet and ankles (!!)

cravingmilkshake · 12/05/2019 19:02

Hi all!

We have been up since 2am and had our flight to Naples at 6! Been on our feet all day- walked 11 miles and back at the hotel now as couldn't go any further. Will take it easy for the rest of my trip!! Do not want a 30 week pregnancy in Italy!

I hope you are all doing well?

I wondered, Is anyone in Hampshire or Surrey?

TwinkleDay · 12/05/2019 20:10

@cravingmilkshake well done I am 33 weeks and walked 7 miles today around silver stone race circuit in the sunshine. Knackered now though.

Got the sure start free antenatal class tommorow afternoon should be interesting

thedust · 12/05/2019 20:41

@yukka I don't know if the chances increase the closer to full term you get, I think it's just once baby gets past a certain weight then your blood flow to the uterus can be decreased. I'm going to try sleeping with a few towels or something under bump on my side. Feels like I need a bit of support but the pillows are too much and the dream genii pillow just makes my back hurt with the back support. Hope I sleep better tonight!

@cravingmilkshake @twinkleday I walked maybe half a mile today and felt knackered! Hats off to you both! I also need the toilet as soon as I start walking now haha.

TwinkleDay · 12/05/2019 20:48

@thedust lol yes I feel fine sat down then get up and instantly Need the loo... I recon I used all the ones at the circuit today 😂

At our Nct class they recommend eating 5 dates and drinking rasp leaf tea to help strengthen the cervix for labour so going to try that soon. I waddle too now lol

Kentishgal · 12/05/2019 20:57

Ditto on the loo front - it's every five mins! How on earth you walked those distances I don't know - v impressed! Last pregnancy we moved house at 8 months and I felt fine lugging boxes, unloading everything etc and was still walking the dog at 42 weeks. This time I feel "fatigued" (it's the only word I can think of to describe the tired aching in my muscles) when I unload the dishwasher! Just washed all my daughter's newborn and 0-3 clothes and was pleasantly surprised what good condition it was in - she was such a vomity baby that I could have sworn it was all stained and horrid but everything so far has been pretty immaculate. Very odd! Either that or my eyesight has deteriorated with age!

StargazyDrifter · 12/05/2019 21:16

Very impressive walking reports on here ladies! I waddled a solid 5 miles with DH in the sunshine, with many loo and bench stops, and then spent the afternoon fatigued on the sofa- that is exactly the word Kentishgal! I'm finding it really hard to stop and start waking and also to walk around people, maybe that's the PGP.

thedust the dream genii also makes my back hurt for some reason, but I can't work out what I'm doing wrong. I'm going to keep trying for a bit more because the back end is the only thing that stops me rolling over.

We had a 4D scan today. Was initially sceptical but so absolutely lovely and would definitely recommend. Can't wait for her to get here now! 😍 7 more weeks 😍

Giraffe888 · 12/05/2019 21:59

@stargazydrifter I’m glad you’ve said you was sceptical but would recommend it as we’re sceptical too but looking forward to it on Thursday.

Is it just left side you’re recommended to sleep on? Or is right side ok too?

BeckyButterfly · 12/05/2019 22:06

In regards to sleeping positions; I asked my midwife about it because I was really struggling to get any sleep at all on my side (I've always slept on my back or front) She said that it is recommended that you don't sleep on your back because the weight of the baby can lie on one of your major arteries and stop blood flow. She did say however that it is highly likely your body would wake you before any real damage was done because it would stop the blood flow to your legs and they would go numb. She still obviously said that I should try not to sleep on my back.
She also said that either side is fine. Left side is preferable but she told me not to worry about that and not to worry greatly if I accidentally roll on to my back.

Giraffe888 · 12/05/2019 22:17

Thanks @beckybutterfly I’m getting fed up of only lying on my left so now struggling to sleep! At least I know I can alternate sides x

BeckyButterfly · 12/05/2019 22:31

@Giraffe888 I couldn't cope only sleeping on my left side. I move constantly in my sleep as it is 😂
